; Now that I have returned from my trip, I can return to updating. This story is close to finished.
Bonnibel tried to cope with her old Marcyless life, but found everything to be dull, drab & empty. One night, she found herself doing the only thing that gave her joy anymore, writing stories & drawing pictures of her reuniting with Marceline. Bonnibel's progenitors, plus Peppermint Butler, were well aware of what she had been doing in her room all of this time.
"I've had enough of this.", her dad said to her mom. "Bubblegum! Come down this instant!", he called.
She slowly came down, never looking up. Tears stained her cheeks & her eyes were puffy.
"I've had enough of this behavior, young lady.", he said firmly. "I don't care what happens anymore. You're more unhappy without her than you could ever be with her.".
She finally looked up & met his gaze, with a glimmer of hope in her eyes.
'What is he getting at?', she wonderred in utter confusion.
He seemed to read her mind as he answerred her question.
"What I'm trying to say is, go to her.", he said.
She stared down at him, awestruck.
'Is he serious?'.
"Run!", he pushed.
'No time to be shocked. Just run!'.
She ran determinedly out the door, out of the building & down Astoria Boulevard.
"Couldn't I have just driven her, sir?", Peppermint mused.
"Oh, right.", he paused. "Well, running is more dramatic anyhow.".
"And good excercise.", her mother added, eliciting a nod from everyone.
Bonnibel then turned down 46'th Street & went straight for Marceline's apartment building without skipping a beat. Marceline buzzed her in, thinking lt was her dad ringing.
"I got your alcohol ready, dad, so you won't have to worry about, *gasp*, talking to your daughter.", Marceline said jokingly to nobody as she did just that.
There was a knock on Marceline's door, which she found intriguing. Her father would usually bolt into the apartment like a madman. And the person certainly didn't waste any time scaling four flights, something he didn't have the dexterity to do. He had to concentrate, like Michael Jordan for the final shot in Space Jam. Perhaps she got her wish afterall & a burglar would come keep her company. Curiously, she undid the various door locks (four in all). Marceline opened the old solid door to see Bonnibel promptly lunge & knock her onto the cold floor. Too' happy to ask what was happening, she met Bonnie's sweet lips with her own. They stayed like this for some time, with Bonnibel tiredly panting. After a few delighting minutes, Marcy pulled her off to gaze at her beauty that she dearly missed.
"Say. You're not an uncaring, drunken french-fries thief.", was all that could come to Marcy's mind.
"My parents let me go. They accept us!", Bonni cheered.
"That's great!". "My dad almost cared, but then he didn't.", she joked.
They shared some laughs from the refreshingly chilled comfort of the tiled floor. It was nice to see one another smile again after everything that had happened, namely the lonely nights, bullying & lack of acceptance. They just looked into one another's eyes contentedly, no ice breakers needed. Marceline wished she could wake up looking at Bonnibel like this everyday, tiled floor & all.
"Let's not switch schools, Marcy. We can get them to like us too'.".
"Okay. Whatever you want. As long as you never leave me again.", Marceline agreed.
"Never, ever.".
There was a pause.
"Did you literally run here?".
"No, Marceline. I metaphorically ran here.". ... "Did your dad really steal your french fries?".
The next day, they endured further insults from bullies for four periods. When lunch came, they met up with Finn & company at their dreary table in the cafeteria. It was hard to enjoy themselves, since more students were insulting them, making them feel ashamed. A few audacious guys went up to their table & made gestures with their hands of two donuts smashing.
"Leave them alone, CAN'T YOU SEE THAT THEIR LOVE IS AUSOOOOOOOME?!", Finn shouted, causing a couple of them to literally fall over in a panic & run.
Jake threw a box of chocolate milk at one as he was escaping, bouncing off his head with a, 'thump'.
"He-he".
Bonnibel noticed that, once again, Fira was staring at Finn lovingly, while Finn's attention seemed to be on Bonnibel. She wonderred lf she could change the tide.
"I'm glad y'all got back together. I missed seeing you at school." Finn told her.
"Noone's more glad than we are about that. It helps that we have such supportive friends. I'm glad that you always stuck up for us, even though you want to go out with me.".
"Well ofcourse, we're friends first. Everything else comes second.".
During their chat, more students came by to harass them, three girls.
"Coming out soon at P.S. 10, a brand new romantic comedy." said LSP. "Geek & Goth, rated PG, for Pretty Gross.".
"Yeah, there's nothing funnier than two losers who couldn't get dates even with the dweebiest guys. Isn't that right, Rom-com?" said the second girl.
"Hey, Rom-com, who pays the bill at a restaurant? Or don't you have to pay? How much money do you save by beings losers exactly?" asked the third girl.
"I thought Bubblegum was a rich bitch." said the second girl.
"It doesn't pay to be a loser." said LSP.
Bonni paid them no mind, so they pretty quickly got bored & left.
Bonni said to Finn "You know, the more I think about lt, the more I realize how good you & Fira are together. You definitely like her, so there is something there. And she's crazy about you. There's not much point in waiting for me. I'm in love with Marceline & we're always going to be together. We're happy, but I also want you to be happy. And I think you'll be happy with your hot greek girlfriend. Maybe you should give her a real chance, see lf she's the one for you. I mean, how many people can you say would be cool with you crushing on another girl? Not a whole lot. Plus, you make a super cute couple.".
Fira was chatting with Lada about something, when she realized Bonni was talking about her & Finn.
"What did she say?".
"She said we make a super cute couple." said Finn, smiling & pulling Fira in close to him.
"We are pretty cute, aren't we? But nowhere near as cute as you two are." Fira said, admiring how inseparable Bonnibel & Marceline were.
Bonni just blushed.
"About what you just said, you're right." Finn said to Bonni. "I think I will. And thanks, Bubblegum. Or should I say Bonnibel?" he said in a mock-regal manner.
She just opened her mouth in surprise & embarrassment that he knew her real name. Marceline must have told him.
But while they were talking, nobody noticed that Marceline was stewing in anger, letting lt reach lts boiling point. Marceline had had enough of this bullying. Their relationship was no laughing matter & she intended to make sure everyone knew that. She stood up on the lunch table, immediately causing everyone in the cafeteria to shift their attention to her. She took one good look at Bonnibel, who gulped.
