Disclaimer: I do not own the X-men story or characters. All I own are my characters and story.
Here is the mission for you. As well as a surprise character. Well, maybe not that big of a surprise. I will say though that I am tweaking the Dark Phoenix Saga and changing it to work with my story. Hope you can understand my creative licensing. On a different note, thank you to all of my followers, and favored! I greatly appreciate it.
Sorry for another late chapter guys.
Last time on Deity: The mission commences and they start their rescue of the mutants.
Chapter 21- Dark Phoenix
The East team reached the Blackbird first. When they got there, they found out that they were the first ones back. The wind had started to pick up ferociously, and as the group looked out into the distance all they saw was a huge wave of dirt and dust headed straight for them. Most of them had never even seen anything like it, but they all knew the dangers the sandstorm would bring, especially while they still had teammates in the dangerous facility.
"Hurry, everyone get into the Blackbird!" Wolverine shouted. The X-men helped get the injured mutants into the jet before they looked back and saw a group coming towards them. Before they could see who it was the sandstorm had engulfed the small group, and quickly engulfed the X-men. They X-men went to board the jet to wait for their friends when Deity was blasted by a strange orange light, causing her to skid across the dirt ground.
Storm flew into the sky, trying to control the wind that had caused the sandstorm to rage fiercely. Meanwhile, Jean, Wolverine, and Lilly fought whatever enemy they could sense. It was hard to fight in the sandstorm. Wolverine's immaculate sense of smell was being thrown off by the swirling winds, Lilly was having trouble seeing, and Jean couldn't focus with all the chaos around her going on. After a few minutes Storm was finally able to completely rid them of the raging sandstorm.
When the sand cleared, they saw that they had been surrounded by freaky looking creatures. They had a human form, or it looked like that's what it had been originally. Some of their knees were inverted, almost looking like the way a chicken would walk. Others would walk on their hands and knees, with severely arched backs. Each one had skin as pale as the moon, and although they weren't particularly muscular, it looked as though their veins were trying to force their way out of each individual's skin. Most of them had large metallic coverings over their hands, and Deity learned that it was those the energy beams had come out of. The creatures also wore the same head piece on their heads as the other creatures they fought in the mutant's cells.
Another sight they saw sent some of them into shock. The rest of their team was there, but most of them had been severely injured trying to get the experimented on mutants into the Blackbird. Gambit was holding an unconscious Rogue. Nightcrawler was leaning on Shadowcat as they headed towards the jet. Then she saw what she knew would change things for them all. Cyclops laid unconscious on the ground in the middle of the clearing, several of the creatures surrounding him. Deity looked up to see Jean, who just saw Cyclops. Deity could feel the change, but she could also see the fire in Jean's eyes. Everyone left standing was blasted back by a very strong energy blast coming from Jean. Deity sat up after the blast and looked back up at Jean who was using her powers to raise all the creatures up into the sky. Jean sent another blast out, killing and disintegrating all of the creatures into oblivion.
"Jean!" Deity shouted at her telepathically. "Jean! Don't do this! Its okay, Cyclops is still alive, Scott is still breathing!"
Deity was blasted backwards by the powerful telepathic force of the Phoenix. A very loud, screeching bird's cry was heard coming from Jean. Gargoyle landed next to Deity and helped her sit up. Deity tried to contact the Professor, and got her answer, but it wasn't the one she was hoping for. Wolverine, Gambit, Shadowcat, Storm and Nightcrawler came over to Deity and Gargoyle.
"The Professor says we have to stop her, at all costs," Deity said.
"What is going on?" Storm questioned.
"It's an entity hidden within Jean that calls itself the Phoenix. If we cannot contain it, it will destroy everything," Gargoyle said. When Deity looked at him funny, he added, "I did some research."
"I...I have an idea, but I'm going to need a distraction," Deity said.
"What are you planning?" Gargoyle questioned, suspicious.
"Something that I think will help Jean, and destroy the Phoenix for good," Deity answered.
"How can you be sure?" Shadowcat asked.
"I also did some research, on several topics, and I believe that the powers I gained from Scarlet Witch gave me the answers that I need," Deity said.
"Okay zen, let's get started," Nightcrawler said, disappearing and the reappearing in front of Jean. She went to attack him, but he disappeared again.
Storm created a few lightning bolts and attempted to strike Jean, but was quickly stopped by Jean. Jean sent the lightning bolts at Storm, who barely dodged them in time. The other X-men continued to attack Jean. Deity floated into the air, and while Jean was distracted, sent a powerful blast of pink energy towards Jean. It was what she had known Scarlet Witch to use to neutralize a mutants abilities. Remarkably it worked, and Jean fell from the sky, unconscious. Wolverine caught her as she fell unconscious. Deity floated down slowly to the ground, where Gargoyle met her.
"Are you okay?" Gargoyle asked.
"Yes, just a little worn out. I have never tried that before, so I guess it took more out of me then I expected," Deity responded.
"Come on everyone, get the wounded on the jet and let's go home," Wolverine said.
They did as he said and helped get the wounded onto the jet and strapped in, most of them worn out themselves. Beaten, bruised, but successful, the X-men made their way back home.
