Ehh... *Ahem* Maki-chan has been acting wierd today see. Like, she hasn't called me or we haven't argued. It's wierd , that I also feel somewhat dissappointed that we weren't arguing. Where was I? Oh. Right. Maki-chan has not been making any kind of contact with Nico . Like earlier when we were on our way in UTX, she was silent the whole while and she keeps busying herslef with something. It's like she doesn't want to talk to Nico at all.
What? You think she's avoiding Nico? But why?
Hmpf! I don't want to talk to her too then! I don't even need her!

Uwaaaaaaaaa~~~ Maki-chan please don't leave me! I don't know what I'd do without you! UWAAAA~~!
In between sobs Nico spoke. "What? You said...I should tell her what I just said...and ask her why she is ...avoiding Nico? But—why me? Nico hasn't done anything wrong !"
"That's why I should ask? Mmm. You got a point. Nico compliments you. But why would Maki-chan avoid Nico-chan whom she loves so much?
What? You wanted to know when it started? Uhmm... Since yesterday , when we went to see A-RISE, ahh~ they were so dreamy A-RISE. But we won't lose! Nico is No.1 after all...right? Right?
(Insert your not-trying-to-be-yet-still-rude comment here) Ahh! You're not helping! Where is Maki-chan when I need her? :'(
She forgot her job to pamper Nico and give Nico love.
Nico hopes she's not mad though.

I took quite long for this chapter. I got carried away with the two new fics I'm writing. I tend to write down what I think and get a burst of ideas and I wouldn't want to forget them so... XD

It's the Love Live preliminary main stage and the μ's' members are considering to stream from within their school then realized it would be harder to appeal to voters that way.
Giving up on finding a place to perform within their school, with the help of Maki, who unexpectedly made friends with some people on her class who was a member of the broadcasting club, they Honoka got a little practice on her confidence whilst Hanayo and Umi sort-of-but-not-really-even-close practiced removing their stage fright ,also they announce that their group will participate with the Love Live and asked for their support.
After school , they walked around Akiba while finding a place to perform then ended up in front of UTX.
"A-Rise really is awesome ... " a raven-haired girl mumbled to herself as she stared at the three personas pranced and sang on the huge screen in front of UTX academy.
She had not noticed the girl in her right calling out to her until she felt a tug on her sleeve and a waving hand that blocked the view.
"Nico-chaaan. Oiii! Earth to the world's No.1 Idiot!" the redhead said in a seemingly angry tone.
"It's Universe's no.1 Idol! Don't get them mixed up!"
"I said it on purpose of course! You're an idiot after all!"
Ugh! "The one who calls people idiot are the real idiot. Bleh~!" I stuck my tongue out .
Maki-chan sighed "My brain gets fried talking to you. I just remembered talking to you is pointless Nico-chan." then she cupped her forehead dramatically. Ah! The nerve!
I curled my fists into a ball at my sides. "Me too! Talking to Maki-chan makes my brain hurt as well." I countered. Ugh. Why am I acting like a child? I should be the mature Nico. Huff... Geez.
While I was thinking of making peace Maki spoke again " Brain? I thought you didn't have those?" then she twirled her hair while looking to the side. GAAAAHH! That's it! =_=
"I do have a brain! Maki-chan you idiot!" I let out a loud voice not caring about the few looks I got.
"I thought the one who calls people idiot are the real idiot?"
"Geh-!" I hate to admit it but she got me there.
"A~n Maki-chan! Why are you being like that again?" 'Ugh! Why is she being like this to Nico? Sometimes I really don't understand this girl. Sometimes she's nice, sometimes she's a true jerk to Nico but either way I—
(Third person POV)
"You two are at it again as always." The blonde in front of them chuckled making Nico cut her trail of thought . Beside her, a purplenette spoke. "My, what's this Nicocchi? A lover's quarrel?"
"L-L-Lo-Lovers?! W-We're nothing of the sort!" the guilty pair stuttered simulteaniously. They gave each other a glare , averted their faces and crossed their arms.
"Aren't they cute Elicchi?"the purplehead leaned whispered to Eli. Her ticklish breath under Eli's ear made the blonde blush a bit. "Huh?O-Ohh! Yeah. I think so?"
Their little moment was interrupted by a familiar loud voice from the screen at UTX's building "Welcome to UTX Academy." and squeal from Nico. "Ahh! An announcement from A-RISE." Nico pranced pass the two and watched. The trio second year at the side can be seen drawing a bit closer to listen like the two other first year did.
The redhead remained at her place just behind the group seemingly uninterestedly interested at the video. 'What was that? They're just school idols too aren't they? Well they're good...but does Nico really like them that much? Not that I care though. Uuu...What am I saying. Calm down Maki. Nico is dating you. Right. She is dating me.' the redhead nodded to herself and looked back up at the video.

Nico jolted and let out a screech that made Maki gave her a look .
"What ?" she massaged her forehead. "Did a brain suddenly sprouted in your head Nico-chan? Wh—Wait! Nico-chan?!"
And the twintailed girl was nowhere in sight of the redhead nor the two third years in front of her anymore.
Nico seeing a familiar brown haired figure dragging Honoka ...that hair...that uniform ...that face
'My eyes can't be decieving me. I ran almost bumping into Hanayo who seemed to be running as well.'
"That was definitely..." Hanayo spoke as she ran .
"Tsubasa-san right?" Nico confirmed because she's the not the only one who thinks what she was thinking whilst running on par with Hanayo's speed not even noticing they were already inside UTX's premises nor the bewildered faces of the people they left behind. They were just following the girl who ran with Honoka.
"Geez , where did she go? That idiot."
The redhead muttered to herself while straddling towards Rin who was still in a daze. Probably because she was stunned to see Hanayo in an unusual expression , or maybe the she saw the girl whom was in the large screen just now, then again, maybe both.
"Hey! Earth to Rin! " a redhead waved her hand in front of the catgirl's face finally getting her back to reality .
"Ah! Maki-chan nyaa.." green eyes stare at violet ones.
"Where did Nico and Hanayo run off to? And I haven't seen Honoka either." Maki asked looking around and returned her gaze to the catgirl.
"Rin has no idea too nyaa... But they seemed to head for that building." Rin said pointing to UTX's infrastructure.
A familiar high-pitched voice spoke "Uhhmm..About that..." Maki and Rin faced where the voice came from, it was Kotori with a sighing Umi beside her.
"I saw Honoka being pulled by that girl." an approaching Eli beckoned to the figure wearing UTX's uniform in the large TV screen they were looking at earlier.
Just beside her Nozomi approached the group as well. "It's A-RISE's Tsubasa-san. So this is what the cards said about the unavoidable encounter. I see."
Moments later the μ'ses were invited into UTX by the member's of A-RISE in what seemed to be their foodcourt (or at least what Honoka would call it)
"This is the school's own cafe so make yourselves at home." the leader of A-rise insisted as some of them stared in awe , a redhead coiled her hair in discomfort perhaps.
"Alright." Umi , the level-headed spoke for all of them.
"Uhmm. sorry for the outburst earlier." Hanayo apologized .
A girl with the fiery red hair spoke whom they know as Yuuki Anju in earlier introductions when the muses were brought to UTX. "It's alright. No worries." she grabbed a lock of her hair in her two fingers.
The group fell at ease. Hanayo smiled in delight as some others did , Maki finally sort of relaxed and crossed her arms.
Eli commented "This school is wonderful."
Maki let out a 'hmph' as if declaring superiority which made Nico gave her a look.
"Hey, stop being so rude." Nico scolded. It was A-RISE —T-H-E A-RISE ,Nico had adored them long before she became a part of μ's. She loves idols after all, and of course, A-RISE was on her list, and she respects the idol group a lot. Maki just looked at her with one eye in return and in her thoughts 'What is this idiot so worked up about?'
Anju laughed at the tsundere duo. "You're school idols too right?" she paused as she caught the muses attention. "and from the same region as us."
"I just thought I would greet you Kousaka Honoka-san." green eyes gazed at the ginger-haired girl who only let out a questioning 'huh'. " When I looked below , I quickly realized it was you. Opposed to the video broadcast , the one in person is far more charming." she continued.
"A charm to be able to pull people towards you. You could call it a charm perhaps." turquoise eyes gazed at Honoka's sapphire one's . Erena Toudo if the gingerhead recalled it right. " Even there is nine of you, you still shine brightly."
"Right.." Honoka said although she couldn't understand well what the three had said.
"The truth is we've been observing you guys." Tsubasa added.
The members of A-RISE told them that they consider the muses as rivals and proceeded telling them of their good points.
Finally coming to the last person.
"And Yazawa Nico..." Tsubasa Kira looked at Nico expectantly.
Nico gulped. Maki waited what Nico's 'idol' would say to her.
"Thanks for the flowers. You've supported me forever." The leader of A-RISE smiled.
The other members looked at Nico like wow ...
"Nico."
"Is that true?"
"Wow, that's Nico for you."
"We had no idea."
The 8 other girls of μ's chattered . 'Flowers? ugh...Why am I so bothered...I shouldn't be bothered. Let's hear your excuses.'
"Well..I..I've been a fan of A-RISE since μ's formed so...Nevermind that, what's my good point?!" the girl in question, questioned. 'Hmm.. a long time ago huh? But still... flowers? Really now?' Maki kept an eyebrow raised.
Tsubasa smiled and brought her hands together as she thought of something to say. "Perhaps...you're the little imp that the group needs."
Nico unexpectedly , took it as a compliment. "Ohhh.. Did you hear that? I'm the imp! I'm the imp!...Waaa..." Nico kept fangirling and didn't notice the look her seatmate shot her.
μ's : 'This girl has problems...'
They all thought, except for one...
'She just called you an imp. Why are you happy about that you idiot? An IMP. A devil. A CAPITAL I-M-P. A little devil? Hello? It quite suits you but.. jeez... Just how much does she worship these people.' A certain redhead thought, unamused.
After A-RISE declared their intention of not losing to them, they offer μ's to let them use their stage atop their UTX's building for their performance which Honoka agreed to having given a great opportunity and not wanting to turn down Tsubasa's kindness. The girls were now out of UTX's premises beginning their journey home.
The second year-trio walked together followed by the other members.
"Honoka , that was reckless. " Umi began to scold her childhood friend who stuck her tongue out in return. "Nah. It's fine isn't it?! Tsubasa-san was being nice and all. Moreover , we solved our problem where to perform!" the ginger-haired girl held her fist high in victory.
"She's right Umi-chan. I think Honoka-chan did good today!" the taupe-haired girl walking by Honoka's left side smiled at her two bestfriends."Waaah~! Praise me more Kotori-chan!" Honoka clung to the said girl's arms who only chuckled in return.
"But they still are our competitors..." the bluenette muttered. "I think it's fine. Besides, we had no other options. " A familiar voice just behind them spoke. It was Eli, walking beside Nozomi and Nico.
"She's right. Let's play nicely . People made games to play with friends and to make friends." the purplenette added and smiled.
The raven-haired third year let out a puff of air. "Hmpf! Our rivals had been very nice , it would be rude to refuse even for NicoNi~"
Umi sighed in defeat, and acceptance. Not seeing anything bad at the matter after all. She'd learned in her home that even best of enemies can put their differences aside for a good cause even for a while and also "Well...If you say so..and I think the member's of A-RISE are very nice people as well.."
"See?" Honoka smiled and also, the others who were with them at the back, including the first years (just behind the third years)
A chuckle from the catgirl took their attention . "Hehe~ Nico-chan, you say that but she's actually very happy about A-RISE nyaa~!" "R-Rin-chan!" her bestfriend scolded, holding back a laugh.
"I—I am not!" Nico proceeded to chase the catgirl who circled and behind Hanayo whilst the second years and the other third years laughed.
Nozomi faced Maki noticing that she seemed to be a bit odd and silent the whole walk ."What's wrong Maki-chan? You've been oddly quiet."
Maki crossed her arms and looked to the side. The restaurant just across the street filled with people that incessantly come and go was quite interesting to look at wasn't it? Anything other than Nozomi questioning her is more interesting , believe it. "N-Not really." she stuttered .
"Are you gonna tell me what's wrong with you or do you need to make you tell me~?"
"Nothing's wrong..." as Maki crossed her arms, she lifted her other hand up and started twirling her hair out of habit.
Nico who noticed Nozomi talking to Maki, slackened her grip on Rin's waist whom she was tickling as punishment. Rin retreated to Hanayo , whilst the others followed Nico's gaze.
Before any of them could say anything, Maki slightly bowed her head to the group and apologized. "If you'll excuse me today. I remembered I have something to do." she ran.
"Maki-chan?!" Honoka Kotori and Rin called out but ignored by the redhead who was running further away from them.
"I wonder what is wrong." Umi said in a worried tone followed by Hanayo's squeaky voice. "I..I wonder. She's been rather silent since we came to UTX." She was usually quiet but she speaks when necessary or when she wants to scold either one of the three stoogies but earlier she was completely silent .
The blonde marched to the purplehead's side. "Nozomi, did she say anything?"
"No. She didn't. " But I have a feeling I know what. She looked at Nico who's gaze was at the direction where Maki went.
None of the people Maki left , followed her , somewhere in their gut said to leave her alone Except for Nico.
"I..I remembered I have something to do as well." Nico dashed pass them making her way to where Maki went.
"My my~ young love." Nozomi giggled.
"Nico?!" Eli called as the others did except Nozomi.
"Even Nico-chan nyaa?!"
"Are they alright?"
"They'll be fine. Nico will fix it. Let's just focus on our performance tomorrow okay~? Or you guys'll get the breastrub you'll never forget.
"I don't get it but I don't like end up being washi washi''d so..." Hanayo hid behind Rin.
Eli became wierdly enthusiastic. " WELL! LET'S BE PREPARED FOR TOMORROW EVERYONE!"
Umi followed. "R-RIGHT!" as Rin and Kotori did. "O-OKAY!"
"AHH!" Honoka cried.
"What , do you have something to do as well?" Eli raised a brow. Is that a thing nowadays? But no.
"No...I'm... hungry...ehehehe~"
"Honoka..."
Nico's POV
I panted as I stopped running. Nico is at the train station supposing this was where Maki-chan could've headed. She's not here. Where could she have gone? What's her problem? Nico doesn't feel good about this.
I gave up and went home myself since it was getting dark. After I did my nightly routine I sank at my bed geeling that it had been a long and exhausting day for Nico and started to fidget with my phone. I saw my wallpaper and remembered her.
To: Maki-chan
Subject: Oiii!
Message: What's wrong nico~? You suddenly dissappeared.
Sent.
I tapped my fingers as I waited for Maki-chan's reply. Ah! here it is!
'Nothing. I just remembered I have something to do. Didn't I say that? Anyway. I'm sleepy. Goodnight.'
What is this? I feel like something is wrong. But Nico is sleepy too so...
Message: Ah.. Okay. Goodnight :) Lovenico~!
She didn't reply.. ugh... whatever.. be that way...
Nico felt a bit hurt though...
Lunch the next day:
The bell rang. Another hour of hell was over. Hoo-rah.. Nico wasn't waiting for that . I was looking forward to seeing Maki-chan this lunch. I'm gonna talk to her. Oh yes I am. I'll ask what's her problem .
Nico hurriedly grabbed her packed lunch.
I went to the clubroom at and nobody was there. Is she at the rooftop? Wierd .
Nico went to the rooftop and saw Hanayo and Rin. Maki-chan is still not here.. Strange...
As I ate with Hanayo and Rin I asked the two and they told me that Maki was at the canteen. That's wierd. She's usually eating here or the clubroom with her packed lunch eversince...I ignored the warmth creeping up to my cheeks ... Oh Maki-chan...What is really wrong?
Lunch ended. No Maki-chan... Nico felt kind of lonely... :'(
After school:
As I walked to the clubroom I saw Kotori on the way holding paper bags. Must be the costume we worked on. I helped her and we finally reached the clubroom.
Ta-da! Everyone is here! Aaaand Maki-chan is here...reading again..
Awkward..
Nico haven't exchanged a word with Maki-chan even on our way to UTX. I tried to speak to her while chattering with Hanayo and Rin by saying "Nico will totally own the stage, right Maki-chan?" and ou know what Nico got? An 'Oh, I see.' as she continued reading her book. Dang that book. Is it more beautiful than Nico? Ugh. Maybe I'll just focus on our performance first and talk to her later. Yeah! Nico will do just that! Fight nico~!
"Hey,Nico-chan."
The girl slowly gaining consciousness heard a faint yet familiar voice .
'Oh...it's the sky...so clear and blue...' red orbs slowly adjusting to the light...
A blurred figure came blocking the view ... Slowly clearing...
It was Maki whose face was only a few inches away.
'Oh...It's only Maki-chan...'
"Wait a minute...are you listening? Nico-chan? Wake up already."
'Ah...so beautiful...wait...wait...why is Maki so close to my face? am I dreaming?' she thought to herself as she became warry of her sorroundings. She realized she was lying on something soft.
"M-Maki-chaan?!"
The raven-haired girl jolted away from the redhead who then sighed.
"You fell asleep after lying on the floor on our suppposed to be 5 minute break from practice. No one woke you up because you looked so tired." she stated blandly as she propped herself up from the floor.
"I see." Was all that came from her mouth,when she remembered some thingsss.." AAHH! What about class?"
"It already started ten minutes ago . The others already left.
.I-I just thought you needed a little more rest.." 'And if I left you, Nozomi or Eli would've stayed with you. I kinda' don't want that.' she thought.
As if she'll say that out loud.
The redhead began tugging her hair.
"Y-you have my thanks ."
Nico's face lit up a bit because of her junior's concern..
"Mmm.." Maki nodded trying to hide her face from the third year she was with.
"G-good work on letting the great Nico-nii rest." Nico teased the redhead who was...already leaving.
"Yes ,yes. Great Nico-Nii is satisfied,now I can go back to class." she was about to open the rooftop door to go back inside but Nico held her by the wrist.
"W-what now!?" She snarled. Startled at what the raven haired girl did.
"One more question, w-why was I sleeping on your lap?!" Nico stuttered and the redhead felt heat rising on her cheeks.
"Ask yourself that you clown!" Maki countered.
"Nico is an idol! Not a clown ! Stupid Maki-chan!" 'But I hope you'll do it again...Ahh! What are you saying Nico? Unbelievable! Ugh!' she became more annoyed not only because of what Maki called her, but the thought that came to her.
The redhead grunted. "Uuuu...You...You suddenly fell into my lap and started snoring... Yes that's it! What was I supposed to do? I'm going back to class now , bye then." 'That was a lie though.' She started to head for the door once more.
"Wait wait! Last question." Nico tugged on Maki's sleeve again.
"Uuu...Just say it already.." she gave Nico a look.
Nico withdrew her hand and fidgeted with it nervously.
"Would you...do this with the others? Like...with Rin...or...Hanayo..or..just any of your friends."her voice shook , and became what anyone would call shy..
"Ha?" Maki raised a brow.
"J-Just answer!" Nico curled her fist into a ball in frustration or maybe embarrassment, or both .
"What's that? I don't get you.." Maki sighed and continued. "Not that I mind though ."
Nico's hands became slack at her sides. "I...I see." she stared at the floor.
"I'll be going." She finally headed to the door without anymore cloth-tearing attempt from Nico. She really needs to get rid of that habit. Geez.
Before Nico could move from her spot in an attempt to leave Maki spoke . "And ...and I don't mind if you do it too though..."
And before Nico could say anything , Maki had already left her .
Left her with a blushing face...and a heart pounding loudly.
She held her chest trying to slow it down, although she failed...
After some moments later...
she came out of the cubicle newly clad in her uniform and ready to learn. Though she wasn't at all that enthusiastic about studying.
She opened the bathroom door and revealed a grinning Nozomi behind it already in her uniform , startling Nico.
"No-Nozomi!"
"I came to pick you up. We have English next." the purplehead said and started walking towards their classroom.
"O-ohh. Okay. Thanks. Wait how did you know I was here?" Nico followed after.
As they strolled the third year hallways Nozomi spoke. "I saw Maki-chan earlier. She was probably going back to her class. She said you might've already left to change."
"I-I see... M-Maki-chan huh?..." She blushed remembering their small moment earlier. 'I don't mind if you do it too though...' Gosh she felt like her heart was going to explode.
"Did she say anything to you Nicocchi~?"
"Huh? N-Not really .."
"Well...it's not unexpected that she would not admit it." she put her arms on her back as she walked with her purple hair swaying back and forth. They neared the clubroom.
"Admit what?" Nico stopped walking before entering as Nozomi did, giving the purplenette a questioning look.
"That you fell asleep on the floor and she insisted to be the one to stay with you~. I volunteered but , she insisted ."
Then that means...she... "Wh—Wha—!?" flustered, Nico didn't know how to react .
"Cute little thing isn't she? Oh yeah, that's a secret Nicocchi~?" Nozomi giggled and entered the room as a bashful and blushing Nico entered as well.
She went to her seat muttering 'she' continiously. Not taking heed of Nozomi speaking to the teacher on behalf of Nico.
Could it be that Maki-chan...was...
No way ! No way !
Nozomi is just messing with Nico isn't she?
Not that I'm hoping though! Not that I'm hoping thoughhh!
She hadn't imagined that her small hope would turn out to be real , and now here she was. Nishikino Maki's girlfriend...or ignored girlfriend at least.
She pressed her buns in place and they were oh-so hard to fix. Okay it was a disaster, although unnoticeable to others, it really was. Some strands were completely out of place. She didn't even expect the catgirl would compliment her but well, she's Niconii so...
A-RISE arrived to cheer them up and afterwards, all of them were dressed up.
"A-RISE's performance is in 20 minutes, let's go watch it." Honoka mused.
"Of course.. It's A-RISE. I'm not going to miss it, let's go Rin-chan." the tea-haired girl dragged the catgirl outside of the changing room. A faint protest can be heard slowly fading from the distance. "Ah...wait! Kayo-chiiin it's still early nyaaaa!..."
"We're not gonna lose. Umi-chan , Kotori-chan." she pulled the two girls by the hand and started running as well ignoring the rebelling blue-haired girl and the ashgray-haired girl that could only smile at her friends' antics.
"Khorosho.." Eli chuckled . "So let us?" she headed for the door followed by a purplehead and looked back to the other two. "How about Maki-chan an—Let's go Elicchi. Maki-chan will stay and help Nicocchi fix her hair right?" Nozomi cut Eli off and dragged her out of the changing room as well.
"W—Wha—Nozomi?" Eli gave her friend a questioning look while her face turned slightly pink when she realized their arms were intertwined.
"Shhh.. They need time." the purplenette winked and they continued walking away leaving an awkward atmosphere between the two girls who was still in the changing room.
'That Nozomi, what is she planning? Geez , this is awkward.' Nico grunted to herself and continued fixing her hair . She really wanted this hairdo but was so damn hard to make it stay in place without leaving a few strands curling up or out of place.
"Shall I help? I mean Nozomi told me to so..." the redhead walked over to Nico and reached for a hairspray then started to fidget with Nico's hair. She started by putting some kind of gel in her hand and rubbed them to apply at the stray strands standing in between the buns.
"Oh...okay...hnnff!" Nico shuddered and tried to muffle a squeal when she felt Maki's touch on her scalp.
"What's wrong? Did I pull a strand?" the redhead said calmly noticing Nico shook.
Nico could only nod. She felt embarrassed with herself. 'What was that? Why did I let out such a voice? Ughhhh...Focus Nico! You haven't even made up with Maki yet , You don't even know if Maki is mad at you , or why was she avoiding you. Hnnnngg...' The raven-haired girl slapped herself mentally.
Few more hair caressing, blushing of an evil panda and silence later, Maki finished fixing Nico's hair in place.
Nico let out a sigh of relief. 'Good heavens Nico survived that. That was illegal! Ugh' she shook her head in frustration.
"You're acting wierd." the redhead cut her trail of thought.
She stopped and remembered their situation.' Oh yeah? Says you who's ignoring Nico.'"You too."Nico said , with quite a sting in her tone.
"No, that's definitely you. And I'm...I'm not acting wierd."
That was the last string and Maki pulled it. Nico ,who couldn't put up with how Maki was acting, stood up forcefully pushing her chair backwards which made the redhead dodge in instinct.
"What are you doing ,suddenly?!" Maki who got ticked off as well by the sudden violent gesture, raised her voice and an eyebrow.
Nico brought her fists to her side and spoke in an angry manner not losing to Maki. "You're the one acting wierd! You didn't even mail me last night, then you were avoiding me at school earlier."
"I wasn't trying to...I mean... I—I'm not avoiding you!" Maki shouted as she curled her hands into a fist.
"Yes you WERE! "
"Were not!"
"Were too!"
"Ahhh! Where not getting anywhere! Anyway , I'm not avoiding you." Maki realizing the pointless argument, tried to end the issue. She pressed three fingers on her forehead while her left hand held her elbow for support. She wasn't trying to avoid Nico , just couldn't face her , making it seem like she was, which of course, the latter was oblivious to.
"Did I do something wrong ? " Nico's tone became ...cold..sad...and whatever it was not whenever she's her usual happy or angry Nico Ni self, it was apologetic if one may add.
"N-No! I told you it's nothing!"
There, she lied again . Nico knew from her tone and the way she was acting , but why not tell her?Was it because Maki was drifting away from her?
"I—Nico doesn't ...like when Maki-chan is cold to me."
Definitely not. After finally being the person beside Maki , after finally her feelings were reciprocated, after finally given the chance to become closer to the girl she admired, it will come to this ?
Nico's gaze still on the floor , flitted to Maki who was currently holding hugging her arm and her face averted to the side. Nico didn't knew what to make of the redheads face covered by locks of red to the nose.
Failing to get any sort of response and reaction,she looked back at the chair lying face-up on the floor.
"S...say something!"
Nico exploded. She could feel her heart burst and burn as tears formed in her eyes threatening to fall. Ugh... Dang it... Don't cry , you're supposed to be a strong grown up Nico.
She scolded herself . But her real feelings were currently wanting to slip out...it cannot be stopped.
" Do-Do you hate me now Maki-chan? Or is it...you don't love me anymore? You see I...Nico doesn't like it when you're cold towards me —mmpf!"
She froze and blinked as her speaking lips where stopped by a pair of soft ones. Eh? What? She wanted to protest ...why was Maki kissing her suddenly? She wanted to push her away , she even held Maki's wrist that which hand was touching her cheeks in a lame attempt to stop her..But instead she leaned into the kiss more , the sensation sent a spark throughout her body , completely shutting everything out .She could feel her other hand make it's way onto Maki's shoulder as she slightly taste the younger girls' peppermint breath . She forgot everything as she lost herself in her warm kiss...
Time stopped for mere seconds...
Maki pulled away leaving Nico almost breathless.
'What just happened?' Nico thought as she felt her face lit up, becoming aware of her sorroundings again . She looked up on Maki wanting some kind of answer.
Maki's amethyst eyes bore into red ones . Her brows raise. Almost showing sadness, yet muttered softly..
"Don't...ever...say I don't love you...Are you an idiot? Of course it's not that."
Nico who had mixed emotions could only stare at Maki ."Eh?" Her tears that was forming earlier finally fell.
"I won't ever hate you, although you could be annoying sometimes...You mean a lot to me Nico-chan." a smile formed on Maki's lips .
Maki seeing Nico's large eyes mentally started a countdown..
'3,2,1...'
"UWAAAAAAAAAAAHAAA~! Maki-chan you BIG! BIG! BIG DUMMY! I thought you hated Nico~!" Nico wailed as she leaned on Maki's chest. She formed her fists into a ball and lightly hit Maki's shoulders while mouthing the words 'dummy' continuously. Maki could only wrap her arm around her senior and tap her back lightly while saying. "Yes yes. Maki-chan is a dummy. Maki-chan is sorry. Sorry Nico-chan. There , there..." in different order...
After a good few seconds Nico finally calmed down. Thank goodness she didn't wear mascaras. If she did, it wouldve been all over her face by now.
"Maki-chan doesn't hate Nico?" she looked up to Maki.
"No. I already told you I don't. Or maybe sometimes." She said the last part jokingly earning a pout and a glare from the smaller girl. "I'm kidding. I love you , you idiot."
Nico paused for a second ... Her heart pounding like drums . Afraid that Maki will hear it she took a deep breath to calm it down..."You must promise then." red orbs looked into Maki's amethysts intently.
"What ?" Maki tilted her head.
"Promise...you...uhh.." Nico had a second thought , she was about to say something embarrassing.
"What?" Maki wanting to hear what Nico wanted her to promise her eagerly.
"You just want me to say something embarrassing don't you?" Nico tightened her grip on Maki's shoulders.
"Ha? What's that? I don't get you. So what is it?"
"Don't push me!"
"Am not!"
"Are too."
"Okay we're not going anywhere Nico-chan. So, promise what?" She wanted to massage her forehead at but she didn't want to remove her hand on Nico's waists.
"Well, since Maki-chan said some embarrassing things earlier, it's just fair that Nico does too." Nico tilted her head in thought.
Wait what embarrassing things. "I—I didn't do anything of the sort!"
"Oh you want Nico to tell you what you said earlier? Hmm~?" Nico said almost playfully.
Maki processed what she had said earlier... Oh damn...those were really embarrassing.. How could this idiot make me say such things! Maki's face went full red. "J-Just tell me what you want me to promise." she averted her face from the girl she was currently hugging.
Aww~ Maki was just so cute when she's shy. She giggled to herself. Her juniors bashful face made her feel at ease. "Ehehe! Ermm.. Promise you'll love ONLY Nico always nico!" Adding a childlike curve on her lips as she spoke.
Maki looked at her girlfriend in amusement. "Oh gee, haven't I gotten to date the No.1 greedy imp in the universe."
"And haven't I gotten to date the No.1 Jerk Princess in the universe?" Nico pouted.
Maki wiped a tear left on Nico's right cheek with the back of her index finger. Nico looked so beautiful to her even after crying. She gave the girl a smirk. "I'm also kidding . Don't say words to people like that.."
Nico looked at her intently again, still puffing her cheeks . "Alright alright.. " She leaned her forehead on Nico's and smiled. "I promise."
Nico ignired the warmth reaching her cheeks and smiled."Ehehe~! Maki-chan really loves Nico ~! Riiight?"
Maki pulled away . "Right. Yes yes. Let's redo your make-up now shall we? Your lipstick's smeared." She blandly stated chuckling mentally at Nico's slightly smeared light pink lipstick then headed for the nearby mirror checking her own. Good thing she doesn't like heavy make-ups.
"Geh—It-It's Maki-chan's fault!" not getting a response from her scowling , she went near the mirror as well. 'It was not at all that badly smeared. Nico didn't move that...much anyway-Aaahh! Stop! Stop! I need to fix my blush on. There's still our performance later! Ahh! Maki-chan is really at fault. I'll have her pay la—wait wait. I'm forgetting something.' She stopped . 'What was it?'
"Nico-chan!" "Maki-chan!"
They said simultaeniously.
"Y-You go first Nico-chan." Maki wrapped and arm around herself and retreated to her reflection at the mirror.
"N..No.. You go first." Nico put her hands together behind her .
"Eh—I ... Oh alright." Maki sighed. Not wanting it to lead to another pointless argument of who goes first, she took the initiative. Although what she was about to say was not important , embarrassing even.
"Ahh! Right! Let's make our way to the stage while we talk! The others might come looking for us." Nico proceeded through the door followed by Maki. They walked slowly, trying to match each other's pace.
"So...Maki-chan?"
"Ah... Right.. I was going to say something but Rin beat me to it.." Okay now there's no going back.
"Mmm? Rin? What about ?" Nico tilted her head in a cute way. Geez. Can she stop being adorable? Ahh~. There goes my heart again... '
Maki inhaled and exhaled to recompose herself . Ignoring the irregular beat of rhythym her heart made. "The outfit...looks cute on you... I mean.." She paused and winked . "You look cute." trying to act cool though a slight blush was evident on her cheeks. They had both stopped walking that time.
Nico's eyes glowed. "Wh—Wha—!?...Maki-chan..." She stuttered. "O-Of course I am! I'm..
Nico is a top idol you know?!" she crossed her arms as she tried not to be flustered with Maki's sudden illegal compliments.
Maki could only smile at the smaller girl's bravado.
Nico averted her flushed face from Maki.
A deafening silence bounds them. That awkward yet familiar silence . Come to think of it , the corridor of UTX seemed rather warm, or was it each other's presence that gives them warmth?
The redhead collected a lock of her her and twirled them with her index finger in thought . 'Maybe I shouldn't have said that, her head might go big again. Ah well...It's true anyway...I—I mean.. I'm just glad I finally said it.. I feel like I'm gonna regret it if I didn't...'
Maki looked around trying to distract herself. Two lights at the cieling, left and right respectively, every three meters perhaps? Some turns left and right who knows where they lead to. The near end of it was the rooftop with the stage, it's probably where the breeze comes from . Oh yeah , they were going there to watch A-RISE's performance from there so they'd best hurry. How long had they been barking and mewling at each other? Well at least she saw Rin and Honoka (or was it not them?) passed the entrance , must've been chasing each other so it still must've not started.
Maki let out a sigh . It was not a rather fascinating accomplishment memorizing the interior design of UTX corridors because she remembered Nico was supposed to say something earlier.
"Then? What were you gonna say? Nico-chan?" she faced her senior who was currently tapping her fingers on her arms and muttering uhh..something's'.
"Nico-chan?" she bellowed once more and Nico jolted.
"EHH?! WHAT?! OHH! RIGHT! Uhmm...Uhmm.." 'What was I gonna say again? Ugh. Maki-chan! If Nico didn't love you I'd have probably thrown you in the river long ago for making my thoughts go messy! Wait I can't do that she's heavy and I'm probably the one who'll be thrown. I mean, I love her and I won't do that. Ahh! Where was I?' Nico lightly hit her hed left and right in frustration, trying to get rid images of Maki invading her thoughts.
"Wait Nico-chan? What's wrong? Did a brain really sprouted in your head?" Maki said in a worried tone. What is wrong with this soon-to-be-doctor , thinking that growing brains is possible, not having one even? Or is she just teasing Nico?
"Again with the brain joke? You've been on with that yesterday too. And I already have one Doctor Genius! " 'Wait yesterday...yesterday..'
"What? You've been calling me a lot of names lately Nico-chan."
Coming to a realization, Nico ignored Maki's protest and suddenly pointed a finger towards the redhead accusingly. "THAT'S IT! WHY WAS MAKI-CHAN ACTING SO WIERD YESTERDAY AND EARLIER TODAY ANYWAY!? THE - REAL -REASON!".
"I...uhh..." Maki's voice was shaking .
"Hmmm?!" Nico grunted and sent a dangerous look at Maki as she leaned her face closer to the girl.
"I ...Th-There's no particular reason." she averted her face as she defended herself.'Uuu...I thought she'd forget about because she's a blockhead .I mean...ugh... I underestimated her.'she cursed herself.
"And you've been wierd since we came to A-RISE yesterday and you've had this wierd face when they came to cheer us up earlier and...Ohh..." Coming to a sudden realization, Nico's face grew red, the blush-on losing to the real one's. 'Maki-chan is...She's actually...I didn't realize...Was she really...'
"Maki-chan...were you jealo-waaah!" she got cut off by a pull of a hand dragging her.
"I'm not! I'm not! I'm not you idiot!" Maki shouted in defense as she took big steps onwards ,fighting the warmth reaching her cheeks.
'Then you are jealous...really.' Nico sighed and bore her eyes onto Maki's back.. letting the redhead drag her...
She found her eyes staring at Maki's back...that back she loves so much...
That back she would never want to lose sight of. And oh that beautiful crimson hair...she has always loved that hair.
And Nico took notice of their intertwined hands again...her hands were really soft...and warm...
' Heh... Now I know how the diamond princess is when she's jealous.A~h Maki-chan... My sweeet sweet Maki-chan~!' Nico smiled at the thought.'But what to do...'
"Hey hey , Maki-chan.." Nico called excitingly.
"What now?" She huffed without looking back.
Although, Nico knows she's just embarrassed.
"Nico is the number one idol in the universe." she bragged.
"Yeah yeah. You're the number one idol in your own universe. And am I suppose to say anything to that?" Maki said blandly ,still facing forward.
"Hey! Maki-chan! I'll pretend I didn't hear that ...Where was I.. Ah! Do you know the next to Nico is?"
If Nico could see Maki's face , she'll see the redhead's one brow is raised in annoyance. "Let me guess. One of A-RISE's members right?" she coldly stated.
But Nico as usual...just being Nico... "Wrooong~! Nishikino Maki-chan is Nico's suuuuper duuper idol number 2!" Nico stopped walking as Maki did. Not letting go of her hand.
"W-what"s that...I don't get you..." 'Geez . How could she say such embarrassing things? She doesn't need to...I'm not...je...Ahh! What am I thinking?' If only Nico could see her tomato-shaded face right now.'It's not like...I'm happy being the second best idol in her own world next to her.. Ugh! Preposterous . You are not going to smile about that Maki.' she thought as her heart skipped a beat ...or maybe beats..
"Ehehe... You're smiling aren't you?" Nico's voice interrupted her from her thoughts. Nico moved her head to see Maki's face but was stopped as her feet started moving instead.
"Let's go... You don't want to miss A-RISE's performance don't you?" Maki spoke as she dragged the raven-haired girl with her.
"Maki-chan..." Nico blinked and the nodded with a smile. "Mmm! Let's go see Niconii's competitors!"
And after our performance, Maki-chan whispered to me : 'Maybe I was jealous. Only a bit... But not anymore.'
Wasn't she sweet? Oh she really is.
Eh? What we did afterwards? I went home of course!
Although she did...kiss me before we separated.
W-Wait a minute! Don't make me say embarrassing things!
