Chapter 10
As time passes, her body is beginning to feel like a heavy block of cement. Her muscles are sore and aching, she feels cold and yet she is sweating profusely. She is trembling uncontrollably like a leaf because of the tremendous pain creeping from inside her body. The effect of the boost of the Holy Item is starting to fade and she is now starting to suffer the after effects. Her body is tearing up from the inside and she can feel every bit of the pain all over her system.
Nanoha wanted to scream and yet she can't, she is desperately holding on to a thin thread of her will trying to bear everything because if she does Fate and the others will just worry even more. The only thing that gives her comfort is the warmth and strong body that is holding her protectively. She tightly grasps and moves closer to it in an attempt to drown her pain.
"Nanoha… how are you feeling? Please tell me the truth." Fate asked with an effort to hide her worry.
"I'm fine." Nanoha answered weakly. "I know it's useless to tell you to stop worrying but believe me Fate-chan I'm really okay."
She sensed the fear that Fate was trying to hide in her voice. Even though she can't do anything to hide her physical state, she can still try and make them believe that she is just exhausted from sealing the Item called Tirandaz.
"I believe you but I won't be satisfied until we bring you back to Aegle so Shamal can look at you." Fate said.
"I can't… You know I can't go back until I finished everything." Nanoha leaned closer to Fate and look straight at her eyes. "I miss you, I love you… but I can't go back now, Fate-chan."
"Yes, you can." Fate said.
"Please try to understand, honey." Nanoha said weakly.
"You are the one who don't understand Nanoha." Fate said firmly. "Why are you trying to carry everything on your own? You have me, Vormund, Hayate and everyone with you; we will help you no matter what. I know how independent and stubborn you are but this time around you are wrong and being selfish!"
Fate turned Nanoha around with her hands on her shoulder so they can talk face to face and when she spoke her voice was even and strong.
"Nanoha listen to me, I know you are worried about our safety but you don't have to anymore. We have prepared everything that can help us to assist you in this battle. It's true that we can't help you purify the Holy Items but we can fight and clear the path for you. We are strong enough now to do that, we will not fail you. And I promise you, after everything is over every each and one of us will go home safe and smiling. Please trust me."
"I trust you Fate-chan, you should know that already." Nanoha brushed her fingertips over Fate's cheek. "But… I can't go back, I'm sorry."
"Oh for crying out loud! Why Nanoha, why?" Fate cried out.
Nanoha bowed her head and looked at her left hand that is still grasping Fate's barrier jacket. She tried to stop herself from crying but her tears have a mind of its own and fell from her eyes before she could stop them.
"I don't want to see you hurt because of me… I won't be able to handle it if I see everyone that is important to me getting hurt because of the ghost of my past. A past that even I didn't know I had. Fate-chan, you are my heart… if something happened to you I don't know what I would do." Nanoha said.
"And you are mine, damn it! Why can't you understand? Why won't you let us help you? Do you like hurting us this much?" Fate said out of frustration.
Nanoha gasp in pain at Fate's words.
"I don't… You know that I don't." Nanoha said her voice trembling.
"Oh god, I'm sorry!" Fate immediately embraced her tightly. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry I didn't mean to say that. Nanoha, I'm sorry."
Nanoha buried her face at the crook of Fate's neck and cried. She knew that Fate didn't mean what she said but she couldn't help but be hurt by its weight. She understands that she is hurting everyone with her stubbornness but the pain of seeing them hurt physical is much more painful for her.
"Nanoha, everyone knows the danger of your situation and everyone has agreed to face this ordeal with you. We aren't gonna throw our life needlessly because we also don't want to hurt you. We have made lots of preparation for us to be able to walk this path with you… safely."
Fate caressed Nanoha's cheeks and kissed her softly. It was quick but was full of love.
"We want to protect you as much as you want to protect us the only difference is; we are much more prepared than you."
When Nanoha quirked a brow, Fate couldn't helped but laugh.
"Actually Vormund is the one who made the preparations, we just helped him do it. He said he told you about his plans but you didn't like it but with Shari and Mari's help we have improved the success rate and I can assure you, it will work Nanoha." Fate said with conviction.
Fate's gentle touch and voice, so caring and strong sliced through the thread of Nanoha's resolve. She didn't want to depend on anyone ever since she was young but when she met Fate everything changed. The only person in the world that she can put her whole trust unconditionally and the only person she wants to depend on was Fate.
Nanoha pulled Fate closer and enfolded her in a big hug.
"I can't ask everyone to risk their life for me, Fate-chan." Nanoha said.
"We aren't, we are volunteering and besides we are TSAB agents, risk is on our job description. Nanoha whether you agree or not, we are still on a mission to pursue the Items." Fate said.
Nanoha took a deep breathe and rub her cheek against Fate's shoulder.
"Will you promise me one thing?" Nanoha asked.
"Anything." Fate answered.
"Promise me that you will protect everyone against anything… even against me." Nanoha said in a shaky voice.
"What do you mean?" Fate asked confused.
"Just promise me, Fate. Promise me." Nanoha answered.
Fate tightened her hold on Nanoha. She was silent for a few moments before saying…
"I promise. I will not let anything happen to anyone… and I will protect you too." Fate said now looking at Nanoha.
Nanoha was still for a moment and then smiled. She kissed Fate slow, deep and thoroughly.
"Please don't ever leave me." she asked Fate.
"Never." Fate said without an ounce of doubt. "You are my life, Nanoha. I will never leave you even if you pushed me away."
Nanoha looked at Fate and said.
"What did I do to deserve you, Fate-chan. God, I got so lucky." she said tenderly.
Fate smiled and kissed Nanoha on the cheeks.
"You are wrong." Fate said near Nanoha's ear. "I'm the one who got lucky. I love you."
"I love you too." Nanoha said before finding Fate's lips.
When she lifted her lips away, Nanoha whispered lovingly.
"Take me home, Enforcer."
"With pleasure, my Princess." Fate said smiling.
The world receded in Nanoha and Fate's view. The Holy Items, the universe, their pain and wounds… everything was forgotten. The only thing left was their undying love for each other and their wish to be together.
The four Forwards watched silently not far away from Fate and Nanoha's position. They have put some distanced between them and the couple to give them a little privacy. They have tried not to look at Nanoha and Fate's direction but when they heard small laughter, they couldn't help but look at them.
"Looks like Fate managed to convince Nanoha to come back with us." Teana said smiling while looking at the two persons who have guided her in the past.
"Yeah! I'm so glad." Caro said hugging Friedrich.
"By the way, is it okay to call Nanoha, Nanoha again?" Erio asked.
"I think its fine. We have managed to seal the relic and the barrier is still up so no one can listen in with our communications. Besides we only called her "Alazne" to convince her that we didn't know the truth." Teana said.
"Commander Yagami and Vormund would really be happy if they find out that Nanoha has finally agreed to come back with us." Subaru said.
Upon hearing Subaru's words Teana realized something. She looked at Subaru and stared blankly at her. Subaru perplexed at Teana's reaction asked.
"What's wrong Tea?"
"In our last communication with Vormund and Commander Yagami they said that they were nearby and was about to arrived here right?" Teana asked to confirm.
"Yes, that's right." Subaru answered.
"It's been a while, where are they?" Teana asked.
Subaru, Erio and Caro looked at each other before looking at Teana again. They all realized something was wrong.
"Commander Yagami and Vormund must have felt when Nanoha purified the Holy Item. No mage on this planet wouldn't feel that strong surge of magical energy." Erio said.
"That's right." Teana said as she mull over her thoughts. "Have you tried calling them?"
"I did. I tried contacting Commander Yagami or Vormund in the special frequency Vormund told us to use but I couldn't reach both of them even Rein." Subaru stated.
"Do you think something happened to them?" Caro asked.
"Something? But we just sealed the relic what would happe- "
Before Teana can finish what she was saying, the five of them including Friedrich was enclosed in an orb-like barrier. They floated inside 5 different orbs, separating them from each other. Their voices and magical energy was being sapped out, preventing them from moving and making any noise. Subaru tried to punch the barrier but with every move she makes, the intensity of the force hitting her body doubles making her unable to free herself. Teana, not having the same physical strength as Subaru silently let herself be carried by the force to the bottom of the orb. She scanned their surroundings looking and searching for an enemy she is sure is hiding near them.
"Blitz Rush." Bardiche responded.
Fate grabs Nanoha and jump away from a hostile force she suddenly felt behind them. She held Nanoha close to her chest as she surveys their surroundings. Nanoha felt the oppressive force that attacked them but couldn't react on time due to her condition. It was a good thing that Fate noticed it on time and evaded it. But evaded what?
"Fate-chan put me down." Nanoha said as she tried to sit up on her own.
"Stay still, it's going to be much easier for me to protect you like this rather than being separated." Fate said not letting Nanoha go.
"It's going to be much difficult for you to fight if you are carrying me around." Nanoha cupped Fate's face in her palm. "I'm alright, Fate. I can protect myself, let me go."
Fate tried to object but she knew it will be pointless. Fate saw what Nanoha was trying so hard to hide; she knew that Nanoha was in so much pain she wouldn't be able to protect herself right now. But instead of arguing, she took a deep breathe and release her hold on Nanoha.
"I understand, but don't stray away from me do you hear me?" Fate said in her command voice.
Nanoha smiled and nodded. Fate never commanded her to do anything unless it is really important. Fate was too kind to force someone do something against their will.
"Okay."
The two stood back to back trying to figure out what is happening.
"The Forwards are missing." Fate said after a few moments.
"I also can't reach Vormund and Hayate." Nanoha said.
"Is there a Holy Item that can attack without being detected and disappear without a trace?" Fate asked.
"No, none that I know of." Nanoha said.
"Of course you don't know, if you do I will be really amaze by your skills as a keeper." a voice suddenly said.
Nanoha and Fate both looked up in time to see a woman with black long hair and dark green eyes. She is staring down at them with a smile on her face.
"Who are you?" Fate asked.
The woman didn't answer but continued to descend to the ground.
"No one of importance, if I may say so myself. I'm just here to fulfill my task and then I will leave you and go my way." the woman said.
Nanoha stared at the woman and felt something she didn't expect. The woman in front of her was emitting a magical presence she is familiar with but at the same time she isn't. Confused on what she is sensing, Nanoha asked again.
"Who are you?"
The woman looks at her for a few minutes before sighing.
"You, of all people should know what I am." the woman said seriously.
Nanoha have felt the power in the woman's voice. She has felt it but her mind just couldn't comprehend it. Vormund didn't tell her anything about this.
"You are... a Holy Item." Nanoha said with uncertainty in her voice.
"A Holy Item?" Fate said as she look at Nanoha and back to the other woman.
"Yes, I am. My name is Jenell, the other half of the Holy Item called Elethia." Jenell said as she shows her hand to Nanoha and Fate. Around one of her fingers, she is wearing a ring-like Item.
"Elethia." as Nanoha said the name; she tried to remember if Vormund ever said something about the Item having a humanoid form. A guardian system that protects it just like Andvari.
Seeing Nanoha's expression, Jenell smiled and walked towards her. At the same instant, Fate moved in front of Nanoha guarding her from the suspicious person.
"Vormund didn't say anything about another Item having a guardian system." Fate said trying to hide her confusion.
"I know he didn't. He didn't know." Jenell said stopping at her tracks.
"What do you mean he didn't know? Vormund have collected and sealed all the Holy Items once, he knew everything about the Items." Fate said.
"Obviously, he did not. Because if he did, I wouldn't be standing here in front of you." Jenell said smiling once again.
"Some Holy Item has a secret that only the keeper will know." Nanoha whispered to Fate.
"Exactly." Jenell said not hiding the fact that she heard Nanoha's voice. "I am one of the secrets that the Holy Items are hiding and I am here to do my duty."
"Duty? What duty?" Nanoha asked now alarmed. She has sense the shift in the air around them.
"As expected of the keeper, you have a keen sense of the magical energy around you." as Jenell said this she snapped her fingers and seven orb-like barriers appeared behind her.
"Everyone!" Fate shouted when she saw Hayate and the others inside the barriers.
"What did you do to them?" Nanoha asked as she wrapped her arms around herself as another pain shook her body she couldn't barely remain standing.
"Nanoha!" Fate was holding her, supporting her in an instant.
"I'm fi -." Nanoha tried to say before her legs gave away. Her whole body cramped and she fell to the ground but was saved by Fate's arms. "Oh God, is this…"
"The side effect of using Eckhard." Jenell finished saying for her.
Nanoha's vision was blurry, her body screaming in pain. She gasped as something gripped her insides.
"My linker core… something is happening in my linker core." Nanoha thought to herself.
Fate pulled Nanoha into her arms and cradled her face. Nanoha's temperature has sky rocketed and her hair is soaked with sweat.
"What's happening to her?" Fate asked Jenell.
Jenell looked at Fate with sympathetic eyes before it turned to icy cold.
"Her body is breaking down and Eckhard is starting to collect the magical energy it had lent earlier straight from the keeper's linker core." Jenell said as she lay down the facts. "We don't have time, I need to get what I came here for, now."
"What do you me -."
Before Fate could finish her statement, a giant creature appeared before her shattering her earlier question.
The sounds of the battle woke Vormund up, he looked around him and saw Hayate and the Forwards inside the orb-like barriers unconscious, he decided to replenish his magical energy by staying calm and to wait for the right time to strike. He watched silently inside the barrier as Fate fights the creature. It was the same creature that they fought earlier.
"What is that thing?" Vormund asked Jenell.
"Hm? It is an animal that I experimented before. I am not much of a fighter so I need assistants like that to help me battle. I gave them part of my magical energy to strengthen their body and to make them bigger. I prefer staying in labs rather than waste my time exercising." Jenell said as she plays with the knife in her hands.
Vormund looked at the knife that was used to stab him earlier. He woke up feeling nothing has changed, he has no wounds or even foreign spells attached to his body, it was like waking up normally from sleeping. The knife in Jenell's hands has an unusual shape but he can clearly see the insignia of the Royal Family of Al Hazard. His gaze returned to Jenell before going to Nanoha, who is lying on the ground, safely tucked away from the battle by Fate.
"Let me go, the princess needs help. If you are really a guardian, explain why you are doing this?" Vormund said anger evident in his voice.
Jenell's hand stopped from moving before she looked back at Vormund.
"I already said this earlier but I have no interest to fight for the keeper. I have only one goal and that is to preserve my life." Jenell said.
"Preserve your life? Do you understand that if something happened to the Princess, the special functions of the Holy Items, I mean us will also perish." Vormund said testing.
Jenell smiled and turned to face Vormund.
"I know. I know that without a keeper the Items will just be an ordinary relic that posses a massive amount of magical energy that can be used to save or destroy the universe, I'm a scientist you know." Jenell said walking towards Vormund. "That is why I need the keeper to have a successor before she dies."
Vormund bounded to his feet and strike the barrier in front of Jenell.
"What are you planning to do with the Princess? If you hurt her, I swear I'll kill you!" Vormund shouted.
Jenell smirked and turned her back on Vormund.
"It's time." she said before disappearing.
Fate was having difficulty fighting the creature alone. With the help of the gadget in the form of a small red sphere attached to her gloves, she was able to fight the creature equally but her time is ticking down. The gadget can only boost her and Bardiche in a limited time, after that she will need to fight using her own magical energy which she knows isn't enough to fight an Item.
Fate strike and defended herself from the restless attacks of the creature. When she saw an opening she attacked it with full force and was rewarded when it sagged to the ground, momentarily seizing its attacks.
"Bardiche now!" Fate called out to her device.
"Trident."
"Smashe –"
Before Fate was able to unleash her spell the creature suddenly disappeared from the ground and appeared behind her attacking her.
"Round Shield."
Bardiche responded in time to protect Fate. When Fate turned around to attack the creature, Jenell appeared behind her and stab her in the back.
Fate didn't see it happen but she felt something hot pierce through her linker core. She looked back in time to see the lips of Jenell moving… saying something.
Jenell drove the knife deeper into Fate's body getting a silent scream from Fate. Fate tried to muffle her voice knowing that Nanoha is nearby but the pain that shoots from her chest prevented her from doing so. She felt the knife carved something off her linker core; absorb some of her magical energy and something more. She tried to raise her hands to stop Jenell but darkness took over her consciousness.
Nanoha was too weak to even open her eyes but her worry for Fate urges her to do so. And when she did, she saw Jenell pulling the knife out of Fate's body and Fate plunging to the ground. Nanoha's heart pounded in her chest, her breathe coming in sharp gasps. Pain, Fear, Anger and Loss… those feelings erased everything around her and reason fled her mind. With a shaky leg, she stood and walked towards Fate. All Nanoha knew was to get to Fate, protect her and destroy the cause of her pain.
The Holy Item, Eckhard, shone a bright pink light before its body was enveloped by a deep color black. Jenell saw Nanoha get up but what she didn't saw was Nanoha leaping in front of her and striking her with Eckhard. Jenell was able to avoid being hit on the body but wasn't fast enough to avoid Nanoha's attack completely. Blood dripped from her shoulder as she cradled her injured arm. Nanoha turned her gaze to the giant creature and attack it. In a single strike Nanoha sliced the creature in half, killing it without mercy.
Vormund felt the darkness from Eckhard. Nanoha has lost control and was overtaken by her physical pain and her fear for Fate's life. Eckhard has responded to Nanoha's heart and is now going berserk. Eckhard was now in total control of the keeper, no semblance of reason remained in Nanoha's consciousness and Vormund needs to do something quick because once the Item reacts again, it will destroy everything and anyone in its path.
Jenell stared at Nanoha who is now standing still in front of her, as if waiting for something before exploding again. Jenell slowly back away and put a distanced between them. Nanoha's body is now full of wounds and blood was dripping everywhere you look. It is like seeing an Item influencing a human; the only difference is the human has an enormous magical energy but a weak body. Jenell slowly kneeled at the ground and snapped her fingers. At the same time the orb-like barrier enclosing Vormund pops out like a balloon freeing him.
"Vormund." Jenell called out to his mind. "You need to do something or everyone here will die in your Princess's hands."
"Now you are letting me go? Don't tell me you're scared of the Princess?" Vormund said trying to make conversion while he gathers his thoughts to formulate a plan to stop Nanoha.
"Of course I'm scared, I don't want to die you know. But more importantly, I need the keeper alive before the implementation of my plans." Jenell said as she heals her wound.
Vormund wanted to hurt Jenell at her tone and for her treatment to Nanoha. She is a guardian whether she likes or not and her duty is to the Princess. Vormund doesn't trust her and he wanted to interrogate her but now isn't the right time. They need to wake Nanoha up so Eckhard can be controlled again and he needs to stop Nanoha before her body suffers more damage.
"What are you planning to do?" Vormund asked Jenell.
"I don't like the keeper but that doesn't mean I want her dead, if we don't stop her now she will die." Jenell said as she stood up. "I need her to stay alive before a new keeper is born or it will be a problem for me. I'll help you so do something, between the two of us you know her the best."
"A new keeper. What does she mean?" Vormund thought to himself.
He shrugged the thought aside and tried to focus to the problem in front of them. He looked at Nanoha and then to Fate, who is lying on the ground not far from them.
"We could have avoided this problem if you didn't hurt Fate-sama. What did you do to her?" Vormund asked.
"Nothing. Just like what I did to you, and look you are still alive." Jenell answered nonchalantly.
"Right, but right now I don't think the Princess can see that. What exactly did you do to us?" Vormund asked again.
"We are having this conversation now?" Jenell asked in an exasperated tone. "This knife is an instrument I used to collect magical energy samples, blood samples and DNA samples. All I did was collect yours and the keeper's other half."
Vormund stared at her in disbelief. Yes, it's true that Jenell has attacked them but she didn't cause any major damage. If you think about it clearly and calmly, it was like she was just testing them.
"The monster that attacked us earlier?"
"I used it to measure your magical prowess."
"Capturing us?"
"I did that to prevent you from interfering and from attacking me when I get my samples. I'm not a fighter, I'm a scientist."
"Why didn't you try to talk to us first? I'm sure everything would have been much easier if you just ask." Vormund said.
"Are you crazy? There's no one in their right mind would let a stranger stab them in the chest if they ask." Jenell answered amaze at Vormund's question. "And besides, it's much easier if I just stab them without them noticing."
"Stab them without noticing." The words played over and over Vormund's mind and then an idea entered his mind.
"That skill that you are using, its teleportation right?" Vormund asked.
"Yeah, It is. It's a skill that I possess; it's different from a normal teleportation spell. I don't need to calculate or know the coordinates of the place, I just need to focus my mind and I can go there in an instant." Jenell answered.
"Can you do that anytime? Even mentally?" Vormund inquired.
Jenell took a second to absorb Vormund's words before saying. "Yes, I can."
"Alright let's use that." Vormund said as Andvari appeared in both his hands in the form of a shield and a sword.
Nanoha's head felt like it was being compressed in some kind of vise. She could no longer feel any pain from her numb body but her head hurts like crazy. She feels tired and all she wanted to do is sleep.
"Don't sleep!" a voice said.
"Shut up! I'm tired, leave me alone." Nanoha said annoyed.
"Nanoha, wake up! Come back to us! Come back to me!" the voice continued shouting.
The voice continued calling out to her and Nanoha's head hurt even further.
"I want to be at peace. I don't want to hurt anymore, please… please leave me alone." Nanoha begged.
"Are you going to leave me alone? Don't give up! Nanoha!"
Now more than ever the voice was clear. It was the voice of the person who holds Nanoha's heart and soul.
"Fate?... Fate!" Nanoha shouted.
Eckhard's light started to change back to its original color at the same time that Nanoha started to regain consciousness.
"It's working." Vormund said as he inch closer and closer to Nanoha.
"Keep calling her." Jenell said sitting beside Fate.
She had given Fate a small boost so her body can recover quickly. They needed her to call out to Nanoha, being the only one who can.
"I'm not apologizing for what I did but I understand if you are mad at me." Jenell said her eyes closed.
Fate took a minute to look at her before calling out to Nanoha again. In between her calls to Nanoha, she said to Jenell.
"I'm not mad at you for what you did to me because you didn't do any permanent damage. What I don't like is, because of your actions Nanoha is suffering right now."
Jenell couldn't help but smile at Fate's words.
"She is as naïve as the keeper." she thought to herself.
"It is not my fault that our keeper is physical and mentally weak to control us. Whether I did something or not, if she stays the way she is, she will not survive to seal the last Holy Item." Jenell said as she opens her eyes and look at Fate.
Fate tried to defend Nanoha but she was stopped by Vormund's voice.
"The Princess is waking up!" Vormund shouted.
Vormund held his shield in his left hand as it transform into a huge blanket. With his sword in his right hand, he sliced it into pieces. The thin threads of the blanket disappeared and reappeared into Nanoha's body as it wrapped around her.
"Do it, now!" Vormund said.
Jenell stood up and raised her hand. Elethia, the Holy Item in her fingers lit up and Nanoha was enveloped in a red light. Her external wounds started to heal and her clothes return to its original state. When the spell ended Nanoha's body fell towards the ground. Fate and Vormund move to catch her but before they can move, Nanoha disappeared.
Nanoha felt someone giving her an injection. When she opened her eyes, her vision clearer, she saw Jenell sitting beside her, watching her.
"What are you doing?" Nanoha asked.
"I checked your body condition and gave you a medicine that I made myself. It will regulate your magical energy to help your linker core recover faster. Because of your weak body condition your linker core has slowed tremendously in healing itself, the medicine will help for now." Jenell said as she helped Nanoha sit up.
"Why are you helping me?" Nanoha questioned.
"I'm not helping you, I'm helping myself. I can't afford you dying on me now." Jenell said as she held out her knife.
"Are you going to stab me too just like what you did to Fate-chan?" Nanoha asked as she looked at the knife at Jenell's hands.
"Yes, I will. Whether you like it or not." Jenell said seriously. "I need to get samples from you so I can assure my future."
Nanoha sighed and closed her eyes. She feels tired and all she wants to do is sleep. She wants to sleep beside Fate and feel her warmth against her body.
"I'm too tired to fight you for whatever you want to do to me so I'll just let you do it for now." Nanoha looked at Jenell's eyes and said. "I don't understand your actions but I know for sure that you won't do anything to endanger me."
Jenell tapped the tip of the knife repeatedly on the ground and stared at Nanoha. She remembered the words of the Queen to her the last time they talked.
"I don't understand your actions but I know for sure that you won't do anything to endanger my child. So I will entrust her happiness and life to you."
"Why does the whole Royal Family full of naïve people?" Jenell whispered to herself. "How can you be so sure that I won't kill you?" she asked her curiosity winning.
"Because you healed me… and I felt your heart when Elethia's light enveloped my body." Nanoha said tenderly.
The truth is Nanoha had seen part of Jenell's past when she healed her. It was like the Holy Item, Elethia, has given her a chance to understand the guardian's intention.
Not completely convince, Jenell sighed and said. "Close your eyes, this will hurt but it won't kill you, I promise."
"I understand but before that can I ask you something?" Nanoha said.
"What?" Jenell asked.
"You're a physician right?" Nanoha asked.
"Yes, but I prefer to be called a scientist." Jenell answered.
"As a doctor, you already know right? Can I seal all the Holy Items? Will I be able to survive till the end?" Nanoha asked trying desperately not to sound scared. She closed her eyes and waited for Jenell to answer her question.
Jenell snapped her fingers and stab Nanoha in the chest. She waited for Nanoha to lost consciousness before whispering to her.
"All I can say is, I will make sure that a future opens up in your thorny path towards living."
