By four-thirty Ziva was set up in a room. Tony sat up in the waiting room. One of the nurses had brought him a blanket and pillow but he knew sleep would be futile. Not with the love of his life down the hall possibly losing their baby. The doctor had checked out Ziva further and found that she had something called an incompetent cervix. Which was the cause of her last miscarriage. They had sewn her cervix shut but there was still no promise. He really wished that he wasn't alone right now but Sadie was too young to be put in this situation. He had enough regret that she had witnessed Senior's attack. As for his teammates they were all asleep and would be going to work in a few hours completely unaware that this was happening. He had told Gibbs but the older man was staying with Sadie and it would probably be too hard to get a sitter at this time of morning. Even more than he didn't want to be alone. He wanted to be with Ziva. It killed him that she was lying alone in a hospital bed unsure if her unborn baby would live or not. He felt somebody placing their hand on his shoulder and looked up to see the one person besides Ziva. He most wanted to see right now.

"Boss?" Tony asked.

"How is she?" Gibbs questioned.

"Placenta previa and something is wrong with her cervix." Tony explained.

"Aw hell can they save the baby?" Gibbs asked.

"They are trying." Tony replied.

"With any luck that kid is much of a fighter as it's parents." Gibbs replied.

"I hope so but Ziva's lost a lot of blood and the heart-beat was pretty weak." Tony replied.

"Just be positive." Gibbs replied.

"I am trying but I am so scared." Tony replied.

"Well I am here for you guys and the team will be as well." Gibbs assured.

"Thanks" Tony replied.

"It's no problem." Gibbs replied.

"Oh yeah who is with Sadie?" Tony asked,

"Ducky gets up at four every morning anyway. So he had no problem staying with her." Gibbs replied.

"Oh great so uh he knows than I guess?" Tony asked.

"Yeah and he is sending good vibes." Gibbs replied.

"Good cause we need them." Tony replied.

"You know your own positive energy helps a lot too." Gibbs offered.

"It's hard to be positive right now though." Tony replied.

"I know Shannon lost a baby before we had Kelly. We weren't sure if Kelly would survive until birth and before that we weren't sure we would have kids at all." Gibbs explained.

"Well I am sorry about Shannon and you had trouble getting pregnant but it's not just the possible miscarriage. It's well I mean Breena dying, me getting sick, Sadie seeing her grandfather being such a jerk." Tony explained.

"Things will get better Tony I promise." Gibbs replied.

When Jimmy got home he was surprised that the house was empty. He knew that Breena wouldn't be there but Ducky had been staying with him. He wondered where his mentor had gone. Maybe he had gotten uncomfortable on the pullout couch in the guest room and gone back to his house. He saw a note on the kitchen counter. He switched on the light and sat down at the table. What he read broke his heart. NCIS had been through enough heart-break and loss in the past few weeks. He had held his own stillborn little girl in his arms. Tony didn't need to go through the same thing and neither did Ziva.

"Dear Mr. Palmer:

If you wake up and I am not home. Do not

worry I am well and I did not get uncomfortable.

I awoke at my usual time to a call from Jethro,

it seems that Anthony had to rush Ziva to the hospital,

She may be suffering a miscarriage. Jethro wanted to

be with Anthony and Ziva through this crisis but naturally

needed somebody to stay with Sadie. To make a long story

short. I will be at Jethro's if you need me.

Ducky

It was now late afternoon. The doctors had decided to keep Ziva overnight because her blood-pressure had spiked around lunch time. Gibbs had gone to the office but had promised to come straight back to the hospital as soon as he got off of work. At least Tony was allowed to be with Ziva now. With the exception of when the doctors were checking her out or when he was at risk of humiliation if he didn't go to the bathroom right then. He had been with her ever since visiting hours began at eight that morning. During the almost ten hours he had been by her side. Ziva had not said a word. In his own fear and grief he forgot how hard this must be for her. She had already lost one baby and even if the dad was bastard. It was still a child she had carried for three months. He reached over and picked up Ziva's hand. She opened her eyes and looked up at him. She just looked so sad. It broke his heart to see his strong ninja like this.

"Tony how is the baby?" Ziva asked.

"The same." Tony replied.

"At least there's that." Ziva replied.

"Gibbs called on his lunch break. He is coming back tonight." Tony said.

"Do the others know?" Ziva asked.

"So far just Ducky and Jimmy." Tony replied.

"What about Sadie?" Ziva asked.

"She is a little to know all this." Tony replied.

"That is true." Ziva replied.

That day after work Ducky was baby-sitting Sadie again. Leaving Jimmy alone for only the second time since Breena died. He knew that he would have to get used to being alone eventually but he didn't want it to be this soon. Maybe he should take that little girl but he didn't want to take a child unless he was sure he wasn't just trying to fill a void. Then again he knew that Breena would give that child a loving home in a heart-beat. He was still holding on to hope that Breena would send him a sign that this was meant to be. He walked into the room that would have been Angela's nursery. He had put most of the stuff into boxes. All that was left out were the crib, changing table, and side table with the lamp that had been in his room when he was baby. He could still make out the scuff and place where it was glued from when his aunt and baby cousin were staying with them and Clark thought it would be funny to put the then seven-year old Jimmy in the crib. He was so sick of losing people. At least his co-workers knew about this. So they wouldn't be envious of his "good life" anymore. He walked over to the closet and opened the door. Something fell out and landed by his feet. He bent-down and picked it up. It was the doll they had bought for Breena's niece when they hadn't been dating very long. She had tired of it after only a few months and when Breena and him announced they were going to adopt. Breena's sister had returned it along with a few other older kid toys. Just in case they ended up with a toddler or school-age child. He carried it back to where he had been sitting, sat back down and called the adoption lawyer back.

"Hello Jan?"

"Yes this is Jimmy Palmer"

"Thank you it was a lovely service."

"I was just wondering if that little girl was still in need of a foster parent?"

"She is?"

"Would it still be possible for me to try and adopt her?"

"It would? Great!"

"Tomorrow at nine?"

"Yes I will be there."

"Thanks again by."
