Ziva insisted that Tony go home that evening after visiting hours ended. Naturally he was reluctant to leave her side. Even after she assured him that they were just keeping her the extra night for precaution and Sadie probably needed him more. He knew that his daughter did need him and Ziva was doing much better by then but he hated leaving Ziva. His dad had left his mom when she was sick in the hospital and he didn't want to be her. Eventually Ziva got Gibbs on her side and Tony was outnumbered. He reluctantly left the hospital with Gibbs and drove home. Not surprisingly Gibbs beat him home and was talking with Ducky by the time he arrived. After paying Ducky for his time. Tony walked inside and found his little girl sitting on the floor watching TV.

"Daddy!" Sadie cried.

"Oh there's my girl." Tony said picking up his daughter.

"Where's Ziva?" Sadie asked.

"She's a little sick and has to stay in the hospital again tonight." Tony explained.

"Is she going to die like Breena?" Sadie asked.

"No" Tony assured.

"Good" Sadie replied.

Tony held Sadie for a while before it was time to get her ready for bed. He gave her a bath, made sure she used the potty, put her in her pajamas and an overnight pull-up, and then tucked her in. By the time he finished her favorite bedtime story she was already sound asleep. He came downstairs just in time for Gibbs to announce that dinner was ready. Ducky had fed Sadie but Tony and Gibbs had not gotten dinner yet. In fact Tony had only had one meal in the whole time he was with Ziva in the hospital. It was weird for it just to be him and Gibbs at the table. He was used to having to feed Sadie before he could eat and even though it had only been a couple of days he was used to Ziva sitting across from him.

"How you holding up?" Gibbs asked.

"Scared really scared." Tony admitted.

"That's normal." Gibbs assured.

"She was so pale and she just looks so weak." Tony explained.

"She's, Ziver she may look weak but she is still the strongest of us." Gibbs assured.

"I know but it is hard. I mean she is going to have to lie in bed for months." Tony replied.

"I know and that is what I am worried about." Gibbs commented.

"Why?" Tony asked.

"Think about it she is as stubborn and hard-headed as you. She is going to think that she is stronger than she is and try to get out of bed and do things for herself." Gibbs explained.

"The doctor said that she was going to need to be watched. Guess I will take a leave of absence from NCIS." Tony replied.

"No you won't. Because I am retiring." Gibbs replied.

"Are you sure?" Tony asked.

"Sure I mean it is hard to find a good daycare that takes babies and you and Ziver are going to need somewhere to leave your little one. Plus the kid and Sadie are going to need somebody who isn't putting their life on the line everyday in the field and I know how much you and Ziver love going out there. It is time for me to step back and just be a grandpa." Gibbs explained.

"Well if that's what you want." Tony replied.

"Trust me Tony it is." Gibbs assured.

The next morning Tony was getting ready to go to the hospital. When he received a text from Jimmy saying to come to NCIS right away. It was only seven and Ziva wasn't going to be released until at the earliest after rounds ended. Which wouldn't be until eight. So he passed the news along to Gibbs and headed out the door. He dropped Sadie off and daycare and arrived to NCIS at exactly eight o'clock. He walked down to autopsy, assuming that's where the meeting was taking place. He had all kinds of terrible thoughts rushing through his head. What if something was really wrong with Jimmy? What if he was leaving NCIS? He ended up being the last one in the group to arrive. The group consisted of himself, Gibbs, Abby, McGee, Bishop, Ducky, and even Vance. That only made Jimmy more concerned. It had to be major if Vance was there and lately major was synonymous with bad.

"OK cool everybody is here. Uh I have some big news." Jimmy started.

"Are you OK?" Tony asked.

"I am fine but last week I received a call that a two-year old girl was in need of emergency foster care and last night I called and agreed to take her in. I just thought that since you guys were my family I would tell you first." Jimmy explained.

"That's great." Gibbs said.

"Good for you." Abby added.

"Nice" Bishop said.

"That's sweet of you." McGee replied.

"I am thrilled to hear that Mr. Palmer even though you informed me last night." Ducky replied.

"Awesome Autopsy Gremlin, I know how badly you wanted a family." Tony added.

"Dr. Palmer, may I speak with you privately?" Vance asked.

"Yeah sure." Jimmy replied.

Jimmy nervously followed director Vane up to his office. Hoping that he wasn't in trouble or get talked out of adopting the little girl because he was going to be alone. Vance was a single father but he already had the kids when Jackie died.

"What is it director?" Jimmy asked once they were in the office.

"Are you sure you are up to this?" Vance asked.

"With all due respect sir you are a single father and single people take in foster kids and adopt all the time I can handle it." Jimmy explained.

"Oh I know you can handle being a single father. My concern is that you won't be able to handle taking in a kid this soon after Breena died. I was not a good father in the months following Jackie's death and my kids were older and well adjusted.' Vance explained.

"I can handle it sir." Jimmy assured.

"Well if you are sure then that is great. If you ever need any help I am here for you. All you have to do is call." Vance explained.

"Thank you sir and I will keep that in mind." Jimmy replied.
