Tony's feet pounded the pavement as he raced around the block. He was trying to outrun McGee's words about Gibbs but they just kept catching up to him. Why did it have to be his dad that got cancer? Not that he was wishing the illness on Senior. Nobody deserved such a horrible disease as cancer. He didn't understand why cancer had picked Gibbs? Hadn't that poor man endured enough pain, suffering, and tragedy in his life? He knew that Gibbs missed Shannon and Kelly and wanted to be with them again but Tony didn't want, him to die. He wanted Gibbs to really be indestructible and immortal. At the very least he wanted Gibbs to die an old man. After Sadie and the new baby were grown up at least enough to know him well and remember him. Maybe even to where any children Sadie and any future DiNozzo children had, would remember him and they would have children they could tell about their great-great grandpa Leroy Jethro Gibbs. Fifty six was just too young to die even for somebody as tortured as Gibbs. As he ran Tony kept pinching and hitting himself, in hopes that this was all just some terrible nightmare and Gibbs was just fine. He was old enough to know that not everybody died from cancer. In fact he knew several survivors but Gibbs well Gibbs may just want to give up. He did miss his girls after all. Gibbs wasn't the give up type but if it was something he knew would change the course of his life and cause him pain. He may just break his rule and just let the illness take him. Tony shook his head. He had to stop being so negative. Gibbs was sick, Ziva was having a difficult pregnancy, and Sadie needed a daddy. No matter how much it hurt Tony had to be the strong one. He closed his eyes took a deep breath and ran back home. When he returned Jimmy was sitting at the table eating with Sadie and Emma.
"I am sorry Jimmy, I have been a terrible host." Tony apologized.
"It's OK, are you feeling better?" Jimmy asked.
"Yeah a little." Tony replied.
"Daddy sick?" Sadie asked.
"Not sick just stressed out from a long day but I am feeling better." Tony assured.
"Good" Sadie replied.
"I am glad to hear that." Jimmy added.
"If you guys don't mind I need to run Ziva's dinner up to her." Tony said.
"Don't worry I already took it." Jimmy replied.
"Aw man Jimmy I am sorry you are the guest you shouldn't have to do that much." Tony replied.
"Don't worry about it, Dr. Mallard wanted me to check on her anyway." Jimmy assured.
"Gibbs and I have been checking on her." Tony commented.
"I know but you know how Dr. Mallard is." Jimmy replied.
"Very over cautious" Tony stated.
"Exactly" Jimmy replied.
"I don't really mind though, especially now." Tony replied.
"Why especially now?" Sadie asked.
"Because Ziva has to stay in bed all the time for the baby." Jimmy fibbed.
After Jimmy and Emma left and Tony got Sadie bathed and put her to bed. He stopped in Ziva's room, to see how she was doing. She was asleep, her half eaten dinner sitting on the floor beside the bed. He walked over and sat down beside her on the bed. He picked her hair up with his hands and started to play with it. She opened her eyes, reached up, and put his wrist in a death-grip.
"Sorry" Tony apologized.
"Tony?" Ziva asked.
"Yeah, who did you think it was?" Tony asked.
"I don't know." Ziva replied.
"How are you feeling?" Tony asked.
"Restless" Ziva replied.
"Ducky wanted to be an obstetrician I will ask him if there are any extra exercises you can do." Tony replied.
"All I can do is the exercises I do to keep my muscles from atrophying and that is not enough for me. I need to run." Ziva replied.
"I am sorry." Tony apologized.
"Tony?" Ziva asked.
"What is it?" Tony asked,
"When Jimmy was up here, I heard him say that Gibbs was sick. What is wrong?" Ziva asked.
"I think he may have cancer." Tony admitted.
"Is it bad?" Ziva asked.
"I don't know, all I know is McGee overheard him talking with an oncologist at Bethesda and he is over three hours late." Tony explained.
"Why was McGee at Bethesda?" Ziva asked.
"Check-up for Delilah." Tony replied.
"Poor Gibbs" Ziva sighed.
"I know but I don't want you to stress about him too much. You need to focus on having a healthy and strong baby." Tony explained.
"I will but that doesn't mean that you can over stress. You already have a lot on your mind." Ziva replied.
"I'll try not to." Tony replied.
After a while Ziva just wanted to be alone. When he came downstairs Gibbs still wasn't home. Tony was really starting to worry for his boss. He wanted nothing more to call Bethesda and see if Gibbs was there but McGee was right. If Gibbs were sick, he would want to deal with it on his own. He would tell the others when he felt it was right. If he pried too much it would only make Gibbs angry and if he got angry it would accelerate his death. Tony wanted Gibbs to survive as long as he could. Unless he was in too much pain. It was almost midnight before Gibbs finally arrived home. When his dad walked in the front door. Tony ran up to him and pulled him into a tight hug.
"Sheesh, Tony that makes Abby's hugs seem small." Gibbs commented.
"I know but oh man I know you don't want anybody to know but McGee called me. He saw you talking to Dr. Brent." Tony explained.
"Oh... I thought I saw him and Delilah pass by but I was hoping, I was wrong." Gibbs sighed.
"Why didn't you tell me you may be sick? I know you are a private person and I have a lot going on but you shouldn't have to go through this alone." Tony questioned.
"I didn't tell you are the others because I do not have cancer." Gibbs replied.
"Then why were you talking to an oncologist and why did you come home so late and so clearly upset?" Tony questioned.
"Because Leyla has cancer." Gibbs replied holding back tears.
A/N: I couldn't give Gibbs cancer much less terminal cancer. Originally I was going to have it be a friend of Shannon's but I wanted it to be somebody that Tony knew as well. New chapter will be up soon. Please review and thanks for reading.
