Ziva was stretched out on the exam table. Her eyebrows were knitted together and she had her lips pursed. The doctor was taking forever to get to them and she was scared to death. Tony was beside her with his hand cupped in hers. He was scared to death but was still trying to reassure her.
"Where is Dr. Matthews?" Ziva asked.
"His receptionist said that he had woman in labor." Tony replied.
"What about his partner, Dr. Roberts?" Ziva asked.
"He is dealing with an emergency of some kind." Tony replied.
"I guess that's part of having to see a high risk doctor." Ziva sighed.
"Don't worry I am sure one of them will be with us soon and will prove to you that our baby is just fine." Tony assured.
"I wish I had your confidence." Ziva replied.
"I am actually scared but I know that you need me to be brave." Tony admitted.
"You are still stronger than I am." Ziva replied.
"That's weird." Tony commented.
"What nobody has called you stronger than them before?" Ziva asked.
"No, Gibbs is calling me." Tony replied.
"That is strange it must be important, you better answer." Ziva replied.
"Hello Boss?"
"Oh good Tony."
"What's going on?"
"Tony I have some news for you and I don't want you to flip out."
"That depends what you tell me."
"Sadie had an allergic reaction to one of McGee's Nutter butters. We are at the hospital right now and she is going to be fine and she can come homes as soon as she gets her allergy test done. She is really upset though and they don't want to do the allergy test until you get here."
"OK well we are a little delayed at the doctors but I will get there. As soon as I can." Tony replied.
"OK and don't worry Tony she is going to be fine."
"Tony, what is going on?" Ziva asked.
"Sadie had an allergic reaction McGee and Delilah had to rush her to the hospital." Tony explained nervously.
Tony and Ziva finally got finished at the doctor's office. Gibbs had called Ducky and he was waiting to take Ziva back home. So Tony could just rush to the hospital without worrying. At least he had one bit of good news to focus on, both Ziva and baby were doing great. When Tony arrived to the hospital McGee was waiting for him. He was paler than usual and Tony was fairly surprised no nurses were asking him if he was OK.
"Where is she?" Tony asked.
"Down in pediatrics. I will take you down to her but Gibbs is with her." McGee explained.
"What happened?" Tony asked as they walked towards the elevator.
"Delilah and I were out on the porch watching Sadie play and she decided that she wanted one of my Nutter Butters. Delilah made me get her one. So I did, she ate it and then she dropped the box. I thought she was just throwing it down because she didn't like them but then Delilah said that she was having an allergic reaction." McGee explained.
"Dammit!" Tony cussed.
"Tony I am sorry please don't be mad at me." McGee pleaded.
"No McGee I am not mad it's just I should have gotten her an allergy test a long time ago. I haven't been able to eat peanuts or peanut butter in months and it doesn't agree with Gibbs so we never have it on hand but so many kids have allergies now days." Tony explained.
"Tony you would have had no way to know." McGee assured.
Tony caught his breath when he entered his daughters hospital room. She looked so small even in the child sized hospital bed. This must be what Gibbs felt like every-time he was hospitalized. He wanted to run but his dad stood up and led him over to Sadie's bed. Tony's hands shook as he reached down and stroked Sadie's little cheek.
"It's OK Sadie, daddy's here." Tony assured.
"I'm scared." Sadie replied.
"You are going to be OK. The doctors have to run a quick allergy test on you and then you can go home." Tony explained.
"OK" Sadie replied.
"Are you going to be OK alone for a minute, so I can talk to your grandpa Gibbs?" Tony asked.
"Yeah" Sadie replied.
"OK uh Boss can I see you in the hall?" Tony asked.
"What's going on?" Gibbs asked once Tony and him were in the hallway.
"I can't watch Sadie get her allergy test." Tony whispered.
"Tony I know you are terrified of needles but Sadie is scared too and she needs her daddy. I mean it's not like they will be injecting you." Gibbs explained.
"I know but it is even worse when it is somebody I care about and Sadie is my little girl. I can't stand to see her in pain." Tony explained.
"Would you feel better if I was in there with you guys?" Gibbs asked.
"Would you mind?" Tony asked.
"It's no problem." Gibbs assured.
Tony had Sadie wrapped up in his arm as the doctors injected her in the back with needles. Behind him was Gibbs with his hands carefully rested on Tony's shoulders. Tony knew that there was no way he could be brave for his daughter unless his dad was right there behind him. The doctor finished injecting Sadie with the needles and stepped back. Tony looked down and shuddered. At the number of dots that were swollen.
"Please tell me one of those isn't dander. I want to get Sadie a dog or cat." Tony replied.
"She had no reaction to dander however she is allergic to all nuts, strawberries, mold, smoke, and bee-stings. I am going to write her a prescription for and epipen. You will be able to pick it up in an hour. I also have some pamphlets you." The doctor explained.
"That's so many things I had no idea." Tony replied.
"It's OK in most cases allergies are not known until there is a reaction." The doctor assured.
"Can I take her home now?" Tony asked.
"Sadie is free to go just watch her." The doctor replied handing Tony the prescription and a stack of pamphlets.
"Thank you doctor." Tony replied.
A/N: Hopefully Sadie will be able to avoid her allergens and none of Tony's enemies will find out and use it against him. Amira will be back in the next chapter. Please review and thanks for reading.
