After returning from the hospital Tony was terrified to leave Sadie's side. He knew that his daughter would be fine and that Gibbs and McGee had removed anything contain Sadie's allergens from her reach. For dinner that night Gibbs had picked up a pizza that logically Tony should have known didn't contain nuts or strawberries but still he panicked and made sure to have the epipen in his hands while she ate. After her bedtime he sat on the floor by her bed just watching her. As if one of her allergens would come in the room and attack her. Even though the only one he would have to worry about in affecting her while she slept in her room, were mold and dust. Both of which Gibbs tried to keep out of his home. Since bringing Tony home when he was still recovering from the plague. Speaking of Gibbs the older man was standing right behind him.
"You need to go to bed." Gibbs stated.
"I know" Tony replied.
"Then why don't you?" Gibbs questioned.
"Because my daughter almost died today." Tony replied.
"I know she did and I know how scared you are but Sadie is just fine now." Gibbs replied.
"She has life threatening allergies!" Tony argued.
"I know she does but if you are this afraid then she is going to be scared too and it will make her afraid of the world because she might run into something she's allergic too and get sick. So she won't want to do anything except sit around." Gibbs explained.
"But she could die! I need to be scared!" Tony snapped.
"Yes you do but the key is finding balance." Gibbs replied.
"Balance?" Tony asked.
"Yes balance. Yes you should be afraid of Sadie eating or being around one of her allergens. You'll need to educate her as she grows, on what she can and can't eat or be around. You'll have to make sure her teachers and the parents of any friends she may spend time with know. So they can watch her and be sure to have snacks on hand that she can have. You'll have to make sure she always has her epipen when she gets older and that you or whatever adult she is with have it for now. What you can't do is be afraid to let her do anything or even simply be alone. Because if you do. She will grow-up afraid of the world and that is not how a child should live." Gibbs explained.
"I know boss but it's scary." Tony replied.
"I know it is but I have your back and McGee and Jimmy had and have issues with allergies so they can help you out." Gibbs assured.
"What if this is karma for me messing with McGee?" Tony asked.
"It's not karma. You never bullied McGee enough to have a kid with severe allergies. Sometimes it just happens." Gibbs explained.
"I guess you're right." Tony replied.
"Good now do you think you can at least try to get some sleep? Ziver is missing you." Gibbs asked.
"If Ziva really misses me I will try." Tony replied.
"That's my boy." Gibbs replied.
Jimmy rocked Emma in his arms. She had woken up screaming from a really bad nightmare. It had taken several hours but he had finally gotten her calmed down. Now he was just holding her. He had learned fairly quickly that if he set her down too soon after a nightmare. She would just start screaming again. He looked over at the photograph of Breena that sat on the dresser. Emma had asked about her so much that he finally just took one of the pictures of her from his room and put it in hers. She just looked so happy. She was always so happy. It didn't seem right that she had to die in such a cruel and horrible way. Today was one of those days he really wished that she was still around to help him out. He thought of Tony and Ziva how they had been brought back together and were now having a baby that was conceived before they even knew they would get back together. Plus they had little Sadie to care for. In a way Jimmy was envious of them but he would never tell anybody. Ziva would probably just be confused and Tony would beat himself up for being happy, while his friend was mourning. Everybody else would just pity him except for Gibbs who would head-slap him and then pity him.
"I knew you could do this." A voice said in the darkness.
"Thanks Breena but you should be here with me." Jimmy replied in a whisper.
Gibbs was dreading seeing Amira again. He really felt bad for her but it hurt that she assumed he would do something so cruel to her mother as give her cancer. He wanted another child and sometimes he did wish that Amira was his own but not like this. Suddenly he felt guilty for all the resentment he had given Jack after his own mom died. Tony's comment about karma the night before really struck a chord with him. He knew that his words to Tony were true to him as well. Nothing he could have ever done to Jack was worth the way Amira was treating him. She was just a scared little girl about to lose her mom. A scared little girl who reminded Gibbs a lot of Kelly. That's why it hurt so bad, that's why it was so hard. Because when Amira was upset it was like Kelly was hurting and he always hated when she was hurting and he couldn't help her. Oh how he wished that Shannon was still alive to help him through this. She always was one who was best at these situations. He slowly made his way up the drive and knocked on the door to Leyla's neighbor's house. Judy answered and told him that Amira was in the guest bedroom. He walked down the hall and knocked on the door. When Amira didn't answer he tried to open the door. He yelled for Judy who came running down the hall with a credit card for him to break in the room with. He carefully slid it down and unlocked the door, he turned the knob and the door swung open revealing a quiet room with a neatly made bed and nothing else but an open window...
A/N: What happened to Amira? New chapter will be up soon. Please review and thanks for reading.
