When Tony awoke the next morning to his surprise Gibbs was still beside him. He looked over and saw his boss asleep with his hand cupped in his own. A nurse came in and placed Tony's breakfast on his bed tray. Tony carefully pulled his hand from Gibbs's and began to eat.
"Tony? You up?" Gibbs asked.
"Yeah just woke up... sorry to wake you." Tony replied.
"It's OK, I should probably get freshened up and grab some food for myself." Gibbs replied.
"You're lucky you can get actual food." Tony replied.
"Would you like me to bring you a slice of pizza? I have to take Amira and Abby somewhere later and getting them to stop for pizza won't be hard." Gibbs replied.
"Could you?" Tony asked.
"Smuggling it in may be hard but well it's hard being a dad." Gibbs replied.
"But you love it right?" Tony asked.
"What do you think?" Gibbs asked.
"Yes" Tony replied.
"That's my boy. Look I am going to go grab some breakfast than head home to check on everybody and change. After that I need to house hunt and debrief with Leon. After that it will probably be time to get Amira and Abby but I will be back this evening. Will you be OK today or do you need me to find somebody to come sit with you?" Gibbs asked.
"I should be OK." Tony replied.
"Well if you need me just call." Gibbs replied.
"I will" Tony assured.
Ducky came upstairs with Ziva's breakfast. When he opened the door he found Sadie curled up in the crook of Ziva's arm. The old man couldn't help but smile at the sight. He was relieved that Anthony had found somebody who would not only be a good and loving mom to Sadie but also somebody whom Sadie seemed to take pretty well to. His only concern when he found out that Anthony had a daughter and the mother had walked out of both their lives. Was that it would further hinder Anthony when it came to dating. He was already having a hard time because of how badly he was yearning for Ziva. As sad as he was to see Eleanor leave them after such a short period. A feeling of joy had washed over him when he found out that Ziva had returned to the United States and was wanting to take her job back on the team. He was even happier when he discovered that she was carrying Anthony's child. He could see the four of them being a happy and loving family once the baby was born and Ziva was off of bed-rest.
"Ziva? Sadie?" Ducky called.
"What is it Ducky?" Ziva asked.
"Are you ready for breakfast?" Ducky asked.
"Yes" Ziva replied.
"What about me?" Sadie asked.
"Your breakfast is downstairs." Ducky replied.
"OK!" Sadie cried.
"How is Tony?" Ziva asked.
"So far he is doing pretty well and is thankfully off the ventilator." Ducky explained.
"Good" Ziva replied.
"Jethro stopped at the diner for breakfast but will be back here in an hour or two." Ducky replied.
"I am surprised he left Tony." Ziva commented.
"Anthony was doing well and Jethro has business to deal with today. So he decided to stop by here and spell me for a bit." Ducky explained.
"Who is working autopsy?" Ziva asked.
"Mr. Palmer has returned to work and is leaving Emma at Sadie's daycare." Ducky replied.
"Jimmy? How is he doing?" Ziva asked.
"He is coming around but he is still struggling. If it weren't for Emma I don't think he would even be able to get out of bed." Ducky explained.
"I wish that Breena hadn't died. She was a wonderful woman and perfect for Jimmy." Ziva replied.
"That she was." Ducky sighed.
When Tony awoke later that afternoon he felt much worse than he had that morning or the night before. He instantly wished that Gibbs was their with him. He looked at the clock it was about three. Amira's school let out at two-thirty. So it was doubtful he would see Gibbs until at least four-thirty. He noticed that his breathing was extremely labored, even with the help of the oxygen tank. He reached over and pressed the call button.
"Tony? What's wrong?" Dr. Pitt asked.
"Having trouble breathing." Tony wheezed.
"Even with the oxygen tank?" Dr. Pitt asked.
"Yes" Tony replied.
"I'm sorry Tony but you are going to have to go on the vent." Dr. Pitt apologized.
"Hurts" Tony wheezed.
"I know but I don't want you to be deprived of oxygen." Dr. Pitt replied.
"OK" Tony wheezed.
"Do you want me to call Gibbs?" Dr. Pitt asked.
"Ye...yes" Tony coughed.
"OK well I am going to get you hooked up to a vent and then I will call Gibbs." Dr. Pitt replied.
"Thank you" Tony replied gratefully.
Gibbs walked around the main room of the church. Abby and Amira had been back with Sister Beverly for almost an hour. Beverly was about ten years older than him and had been diagnosed with breast cancer fifteen years before. At the time of her diagnosis the doctors had given her less than six months but miraculously she had survived and remained cancer free for over a decade. The door opened and the three woman walked out.
"So Amira do you understand now that cancer is nobodies fault?" Sister Beverly asked.
"Yes mam" Amira replied.
"Good girl" Sister Beverly replied handing Amira a lollipop.
"Thank you!" Amira cried.
"You're very welcome but maybe there is something you would like to say to Gibbs?" Sister Beverly replied.
"I am sorry I was so mean to you I was just really scared." Amira replied.
"It's OK, I forgive you." Gibbs replied.
A/N: Don't worry Dr. Pitt didn't forget about Tony. He just had to attend to Tony's medical needs and his other patients before he called Gibbs. New chapter will be up soon. Please review and thanks for reading.
