Gibbs stayed with Leyla's body until an orderly came in to take her down to the morgue. He stood and left the room unable to even think that Mike's daughter in law would be put in a bag, carried downstairs, and shoved in a drawer. Every day Leyla was in the hospital, he prayed for a miracle. That Ducky or one of her doctors would tell him of some new procedure that might just giver her a chance of survival. Instead he watched her get sicker and weaker until she finally died. He walked down the hall and found Amira playing "Go Fish" with the volunteer who had left with and Tony.

"Boss?" Tony asked.

"She's gone" Gibbs cracked.

"I am so sorry." Tony apologized.

"NO! Mommy! No!" Amira cried.

"Amira" Gibbs whispered.

"Boss are you OK?" Tony asked.

"Take care of Amira. I need to do some paperwork." Gibbs replied.

Gibbs rested his forehead in his hands. He was so tired and he just wanted to go home and hug Amira forever but he had so much business to take care of. Then tomorrow he would have to start planning her funeral. He wished that he had somebody to help him deal with all of this but Amira was far too young to be expected to plan her mother's funeral and she was the only family Leyla had left. Well Leyla's mother was alive but she was in Iraq. Oh God he never called Leyla's mother. She should have been the first person he told. Now she would find out that her daughter was dead and the funeral was in a matter of days. Would she even be able to come? He looked around and noted that there were no cellphone use prohibited signs. So he picked his up and dialed the number of the woman's shelter in Iraq. Praying that not only would the building still be standing but also that the older Shakarji woman was still residing there.

"Hello?"

"This is Leroy Jethro Gibbs from America."

"How may I help you Mr. Gibbs?"

"Is a there a woman by the name of Shada Shakarji residing in your shelter?"

"There was a woman by that name residing here but she suffered a fatal heart-attack in January of this year."

"Oh"

"Is there a reason that you wanted to contact her?"

"I just wanted to let her know that her daughter died of cancer today."

"Oh I am so sorry."

"Yeah well I have to go."

Gibbs returned to the waiting room and found Tony sitting in a chair thumbing through one of the ancient hospital magazines. He walked over and sat down in the chair to the left of his son. Tony set his magazine down and looked at him.

"Tony? What are you still doing here? Where is Amira?"

"I wanted to wait for you and Ducky picked up Amira."

"Oh" Gibbs replied.

"You OK?" Tony asked.

"Not really" Gibbs confessed.

"Was it at least peaceful?" Tony asked.

"She seemed peaceful." Gibbs replied.

"Do you need a hug?" Tony asked.

"Yeah I think I do." Gibbs replied standing up.

"Come here" Tony called.

"I just can't believe she is gone!" Gibbs cried.

"I know" Tony replied.

"What is going to happen to Amira now?" Gibbs asked.

"You will care for her." Tony replied.

"I know but how does she survive being an orphan so young?" Gibbs asked.

"It won't be easy but she won't be alone." Tony replied.

"What would I do without you?" Gibbs asked.

"Eat pizza less?" Tony joked.

"Thanks I needed to laugh." Gibbs chucked.

"You should get home to Amira." Tony commented.

"Right, do you need a ride?" Gibbs asked.

"No I am good." Tony assured.

Amira tossed and turned in her bed. Gibbs had comforter her for hours but it didn't do anything. Finally she got tired and just went to bed. He had tucked her in and lay with her for a while. Until she pretended to fall asleep. She realized pretty quickly that she wasn't really tired but she didn't want to cry in Gibbs's arms anymore. Now Gibbs was gone and she was still unable to sleep. She heard her door open and looked up. Fearing that Gibbs had come back to try to comfort her again. She knew that he cared for her but he was hurting really badly too. Now she felt terrible for thinking that he was the reason her mom was sick. Instead of Gibbs though it was Tony.

"Tony what are you doing here?" Amira asked.

"I was just checking in on you." Tony replied.

"I am too sad to sleep." Amira admitted.

"Do you want me to get Gibbs?" Tony questioned.

"No" Amira replied.

"Are you sure?" Tony asked.

"Yeah he wasn't really helping me." Amira replied.

"Oh well maybe I can help you feel a little better." Tony suggested.

"I doubt it." Amira replied.

"Can I lay with you?" Tony asked.

"I guess" Amira replied.

"You know my mom died when I wasn't much older than you." Tony commented.

"Really?" Amira asked.

"Yeah, she was the first woman I loved to die." Tony replied.

"I am sorry" Amira replied.

"Thanks" Tony replied.

"Were you an orphan after that too?" Amira asked.

"No, my dad was still alive but he didn't like me too much and he also worked a lot. So I just had a bunch of nannies raising me. I wish I had a Gibbs to take care of me." Tony explained.

"I am sorry." Amira apologized.

"It's OK but that is more than enough about me. Tell me about your mom." Tony replied.

"She loved me so much and she always kept me safe from the bad guys when we were in Iraq and then in Mexico and she comforted me after Grandpa Mike died. Now I don't have anybody to comfort me and I don't have a mommy to teach me things anymore." Amira sobbed.

"Gibbs will comfort you and Abby and Ziva will help you with girl stuff." Tony replied.

"Who will keep the bad guys away?" Amira asked.

"Gibbs and I" Tony replied.

"What if Gibbs dies too?" Amira asked.

"Well I think Gibbs is immortal but if something does happen. I think I could handle adopting you but again don't think like that." Tony replied.

As he made his way to his bedroom Gibbs heard a commotion coming from the room where Amira was staying. He opened the door and found Tony rocking a sobbing Amira in his arms. Telling her that she would be OK and that her mommy would always be in her heart. He ducked into his room, grabbed his camera and took a picture. He knew it was a private moment but he would need this for if Tony ever questioned his place in Gibbs's life again.

A/N: Gibbs and Amira will bond in the next chapter but the idea for Tony comforting her had been in my head for a while. New chapter will be up soon. Please review and thanks for reading.
