Sadie and Jackson had a certain ring to it. Both were old fashioned named but Jackson was more classic while Sadie was pretty old school. Though there was another girl in Sadie's daycare with the same name but she was several years older and had been named for her grandmother. Of course Tony knew that it may be a girl but he had no idea on girls names. Of course Ziva would suggest Talia or Rivka. Tony was partial to Kelly though. For a while he had pictured himself having a little Kaitlin but that was in the past and he could picture Kate being pissed at him for naming his daughter after her. Just because she died. He had considered the name Jennifer when a girl he had a fling with had a pregnancy scare but she turned out to have just read her calender wrong. He still liked Jenny though he had always been partial to that name. Even before he saw Forest Gump despite with Probie said. That was another thing he had to be careful of not stealing a name from Probie and Wheels. He knew that McGee wanted John for a boy in honor of his dad and Penelope for girl in honor of his grandma. John was OK but Tony couldn't see him having a John and Penelope was the name of the girl who ripped his heart out at OSU. So that name was out immediately. He walked downstairs and watched Gibbs pack. He had gotten the house around the block. The one he wanted with the basement and big, bright room for Amira. It was ready to move in as of that day but he had opted to wait until Monday. Since he thought moving Amira the day after her mom's funeral would be a little much.
"Everything OK, Tony?" Gibbs asked.
"Yeah" Tony replied.
"Then what ya doin up?" Gibbs asked.
"Needed to ask you a question." Tony replied.
"Can it wait til morning?" Gibbs asked.
"I'd rather ask now." Tony replied.
"OK go ahead, then." Gibbs replied.
"If Ziva and I had a daughter. Would you be OK with us naming her Kelly?" Tony asked.
"Do you both really like the name Kelly or are you just wanting to make me feel good?" Gibbs asked.
"I don't know. Ziva and I were just talking about baby names and we have the perfect boy name but we are unsure about girl names." Tony explained.
"Look I am going to give you a tip of advice. Don't give your child a name just to honor someone you miss or to make somebody feel good. That means no Shannon's, Jackie's, Kate's, Kelly's, Talia's, or Jenny's. Unless you really truly want that name. Just go with your heart." Gibbs explained.
"But how will I know?" Tony asked.
"Well if Ziva's OK with you telling me. What name did you pick for a boy?" Gibbs asked.
"Jackson" Tony replied.
"And what made you realize that you liked that name?" Gibbs asked.
"Your dad was such a kind man and practically a grandfather to me and Ziva adored him too. I thought that if I ever had a son naming him for Jack would be such an amazing honor. I thought that before he died. So I know it's not just to make you feel good or anything." Tony explained.
"Then it's in your heart and you truly love it. A girl name will come to you. If you let follow your heart and if Kelly still comes up. Then by all means name her Kelly." Gibbs explained.
"Thanks dad." Tony replied.
"No problem son now go get back to your fiancee." Gibbs replied.
"Hey dad one more thing?" Tony asked.
"What is it son?" Gibbs asked.
"What are some names you and Shannon considered?" Tony asked.
"I liked Ann and we almost gave Kelly that as a middle name but then Shannon held her and she became Kelly Alice" Gibbs explained.
"I didn't know Kelly's middle name was Alice." Tony replied.
"It was Shannon's grandma's name and apparently Kelly looked just like her." Gibbs replied.
"Oh" Tony replied.
"Tell me a girl name you like besides Kelly." Gibbs suggested.
"Lilly" Tony replied.
"Lilly?" Gibbs asked.
"It was my mom's favorite flower." Tony explained.
"See that's nice and it's not just blindly honoring." Gibbs replied.
"Thanks Boss." Tony replied.
Jimmy collapsed on to his bed. He knew it would be hard being a single father but he wasn't expecting it to be this hard. Like today, he had to miss Leyla's funeral because Emma was running a fever and couldn't go to daycare. Her fever spiked at about one hundred and four and he had to rush her to the ER. The doctor diagnosed her with an ear infection. Another ear infection to be specific. Her third since he adopted her. It was starting to worry him. He knew that some kids had chronic problems but she had only been with him a few weeks and after all she had been through. It wouldn't surprise him if she had some more severe health issues. What if her parents addictions and abuse had made her sick? He couldn't lose her too.
Tony placed his hand on Ziva's shoulder. Gibbs was right he should follow his heart when it came to naming his child. Not just blindly honor someone who had passed on. Of course if it was a girl and Ziva really wanted to name her Rivka or Talia. He was in no place to stop her. They were her mother and sister after all. He was just glad that she hadn't suggested Eli or Ari. Eli he could handle for a middle name if Ziva really wanted to use it but Ari he couldn't do. Not after what Ari had taken from NCIS. What he had taken from him. He loved Ziva with all his heart but he had loved Kate to. In the far too short two years he had known her. He had regularly pictured them falling in love, getting married, having children, and growing old together but instead he watched her take a bullet to the head and that was it. He had loved her but he had lost her. Before he had a chance to tell her. He vowed to never make that mistake with Ziva.
"I love you ZeeVah and I love you too baby." Tony whispered.
A/N: Not sure if I am going to use Lilly or not. I am pretty sure it is going to be a boy named Jackson though. Please review and thanks for reading.
