Tony was dreaming, he had to be. This couldn't be happening. Ziva couldn't be lying on the ground hemorrhaging. He was sure that if he closed his eyes. Everything would be back to normal and Ziva would be standing beside him smiling. Instead when he opened his eyes everything was exactly the same as it was. Except now Gibbs was standing beside him.
"You need to breathe." Gibbs told him.
"I can't." Tony replied.
"Did the nine one one operator tell you anything to do?" Gibbs asked.
"No" Tony sighed.
"How long did they say?" Gibbs asked.
"Ten minutes or so." Gibbs replied.
Tony moved like a zombie to Ziva's side. He fell down on his knees beside his new wife. He felt so helpless. All he could do was hold her and pray that the ambulance arrived before it was too late. She had already lost so much blood and she was so pale and fragile looking. He picked up her hand and just clung to her until the ambulance arrived. The paramedics shoved him aside so they could work on her. They lay her on a stretcher and then loaded her into the ambulance. Tony followed behind. Jumping into the back after the paramedics. One of the medics closed the door behind them and then they sped off towards the nearest hospital.
"Hang on Ziva. We are almost to the hospital." Tony whispered.
Gibbs would never admit it but he was scared to death. One minute Ziva was fine and then the next thing he knew she was on the ground hemorrhaging and Tony was freaking out. He shuddered at the thought of Tony losing Ziver and their baby. It was bad enough when he lost Shannon and Kelly but at least he'd had time with them. Tony and Ziva had only been married a few short hours and their baby hadn't even been born yet. It couldn't all just be ripped away from him so quickly. Didn't Tony deserve a happy family? He had lost so much in his life and fought so hard to get where he was. He followed behind the ambulance. Praying that he didn't get pulled. It wouldn't do Tony any good if his dad was in jail for speeding with a child in the car when Tony needed him the most. To his relief the ambulance and him managed to get to the hospital with no incident. He got out of the van and started to get Sadie out of her car-seat.
"Gibbs? What's going on?" Sadie asked as Gibbs lifted her into his arms.
"Ziva and the baby are sick and the baby has to be born now." Gibbs explained.
"Will they be OK?" Sadie asked.
"I hope so Sadie." Gibbs replied.
"Where's my daddy?" Sadie asked.
"He rode with Ziva. You will see him later." Gibbs explained.
Gibbs knew that the hospital was no place for Sadie. Especially given the circumstances but he didn't want to leave Tony. He racked his brain trying to decide who to call. He knew that Abby would freak out upon getting the news. He wasn't sure if Delilah and McGee would be able to handle it. Delilah was at the stage of her pregnancy where she tired easily and being high-risk her doctor had advised her to take it easy. The last thing he needed was two of his people's wives having pregnancy complications. Ducky was a possibility but he figured that Ducky would want to rush to the hospital to help deal with doctors and keep Tony calm that left Jimmy. Palmer wouldn't be able to be at the hospital since he had Emma and he wouldn't be freaking out like Abby would. Gibbs picked up his phone and dialed the young Medical Examiner's number.
"Hello?"
"Jimmy it's Gibbs."
"Oh hi Gibbs what's going on?"
"Ziva is in the hospital. Something is wrong with the baby."
"No. what?"
"I don't know she was hemorrhaging."
"Oh that's not good."
"I know"
"How is Tony?"
"Freaking out"
"Is there anything I can do?"
"Yeah can you come to DC General and pick up Sadie?"
"Of course"
"Thank you"
"And Gibbs good luck."
"Thanks"
Tony paced back and forth. Ziva had been rushed away from him as soon as they arrived at the hospital. He had no idea what was happening on the other side of those double doors. Anytime anybody moved he jumped. He was sure that it was nurse or doctor coming to tell him that he didn't have a wife anymore. Finally a doctor did approach him.
"Family of Ziva Gibbs?" A doctor called.
"That's me. How is she?" Tony asked.
"Sir your wife has been taken back for an emergency c-section." The doctor explained.
"So I am missing the birth of my child?" Tony asked.
"No she is still being prepped. You need to hurry if you want to be there. You will have to get scrubbed up." The doctor explained.
"OK" Tony replied.
"Great come with me." The doctor replied.
"What is wrong with Ziva?" Tony asked.
"She had placental abruption but the baby's heart-rate has dropped significantly and it appears to be in extreme distress." The doctor explained.
"What are their chances?" Tony asked.
"Ziva should be fine as long as we can get the bleeding under-control but the baby... the baby I don't know." The doctor explained.
"What are you going to do to get the bleeding under-control?" Tony asked.
"It may stop once the baby is out, she may need further surgery but there is also a chance that she will need a hysterectomy." The doctor explained.
"Do whatever it takes to save her!" Tony ordered.
"We will have to discuss it with her if she is conscious which as of right now she is. She has already demanded that if it comes down to it we let her go and save the baby." The doctor explained.
"But the baby is so small. What if I lose them both?" Tony asked himself.
A/N: Will the doctors be able to save both Ziva and the baby? New chapter will be up soon. Please review and thanks for reading.
