It was three days before Sadie's sixteenth birthday. Tony and Ziva were planning a huge surprise party for her. Ziva would stay home and make sure things didn't get out of hand but Tony and Madison would be staying with Gibbs. Sadie's party was going to be small just Emma, Ivy, Emma's boyfriend John, Ivy's boyfriend Craig and a few other girls from Sadie's class. Only Emma and Ivy were allowed to bring their boyfriends and only because they were Sadie's two best friends. Sadie was at a debate club meeting and wasn't due back for another half hour or so. Tony and Ziva were both home and discussing the final plans for Sadie's party.
"Are you sure we shouldn't invite Landon?" Ziva asked.
"No remember she thinks he is a jerk now." Tony replied.
"Is this because of what Josh did to her last spring? Because if he put my baby girl off men I will shoot him through the jail cell." Ziva asked.
"No they had a falling out back in seventh grade." Tony replied.
"How do you know this and I don't?" Ziva asked.
"Sadie told Emma, Emma told John and John told me." Tony explained since retiring from the field he had started coaching a youth basketball league at the community center.
"Did John happen to communicate the scuttle but on what happened?" Ziva asked.
"He joined the baseball team and became a big hero when he won the state championship and is a huge player now." Tony explained.
"They will get married." Ziva commented.
"How do you know?" Tony asked.
"Girls marry men like their fathers and you were a player and a jock." Ziva replied.
"I am not in a wheelchair." Tony commented.
"Well that's just one small thing about Landon." Ziva replied.
"OK I was in a wheelchair once for this undercover thing before I joined NCIS but that's a long story. I was as smart as McGee then. Well my cover was." Tony explained.
"We are planning our daughter's sweet sixteen not talking about your undercover missions." Ziva reminded.
"Oh alright. Are you sure I can't come?" Tony asked.
"No Tony you cannot. I am going to stay upstairs and only come down if I hear chaos." Ziva explained.
"It seems like you do everything now and I am just there." Tony sighed.
"That is not true. You were there for her after that awful date. You were the one who got her through the incident with her birth mother." Ziva explained.
"Yeah but I want to be there for something major." Tony replied.
"She needs to take a driving lesson before she gets her license." Ziva explained.
"You were teaching her." Tony replied.
"I tried but she hates my driving." Ziva sighed.
"Well I will be more than happy to give her former lesson. Besides it will be nice to have somebody else I feel comfortable driving with." Tony replied.
"Watch it." Ziva warned.
Sadie ran down the driveway ahead of her father. She had been driving with her mom since she got her permit the year before and she had hated it. Ziva seemed to think that it was OK to drive like a complete maniac. Sadie jumped into the drivers seat and then Tony climbed into the passenger seat.
"Check your mirrors." Tony instructed.
"Got it." Sadie replied.
"OK now put the car in reverse and slowly back out of the driveway." Tony replied.
"Now what?" Sadie asked as she backed out of the driveway.
"We are driving to Gibbs's house and back." Tony replied.
"That's only two blocks!" Sadie whined.
"I know but I want to see how you do. If you do well we can go pick up dinner and some new diapers for Madison." Tony explained.
"OK" Sadie sighed.
Sadie did surprisingly well with driving to Gibbs's house. After checking in with Ziva and Madison and getting Ziva's dinner order. Tony allowed Ziva to climb her back to the drivers seat and head towards the dinner.
"OK stop wait thirty seconds if nobody comes go." Tony instructed as they approached a stop sign
"I know we did that twice on the way to Gibbs's." Sadie replied.
"I know but I want to make sure you know what to do." Tony explained.
"Who has the right of way?" Sadie asked pointing to the diver perpendicular to her at the stop.
"Him" Tony replied.
"OK" Sadie replied.
Sadie waited for the other driver to go before she went. She checked the intersection and then started across. She made it through the stop safely and then they made their way down the road to the diner. Even though there were spots in the main parking lot. Tony insisted that she work on parallel parking in the overflow lot on the street. Sadie carefully pulled into the spot at Tony's instruction. She had no problem until she twitched and her foot hit the gas instead of the break. She tried to stop herself but still hit the car in front of her.
"Oh Abba!" Sadie cried.
"It's OK. I am going to check the damage and then we will find the diver of the car in the diner. It will be OK." Tony assured.
"Does this mean I can't get my license?" Sadie asked.
"No you will still be able to take the test." Tony assured.
Tony climbed out of the car and checked the damage. His bumper had some scratches and a dent but it was nothing he couldn't fix himself with some touch up paint. No sense making a claim on it and risking losing his insurance or making it harder for Sadie. The car in front of him had a small break in the bumper that would require repair.
"How bad is it?" Sadie asked nervously.
"Not too bad. We may have to pay for it but it will be OK. I will say I was driving." Tony assured.
"The diner has parking lot cameras." Sadie sighed.
"They don't reach this far." Tony assured.
Tony took Sadie's hand and guided her into the diner. Sadie sat down on a stool and rested her head on the counter. She could not believe that she had hit a car. She didn't even have her license yet and she had been in a wreck.
"You were in a wreck?" Shirley asked.
"I hit a yellow car in the street. I was trying to park and I hit the break." Sadie sighed.
"That was my car. Don't worry about it." Shirley assured.
"But I broke your bumper." Sadie explained.
"It's OK sweetie. Your daddy and grandpa Jethro have been bringing you in here since the day your daddy got you. All I care about is that you are OK. It would tear both of them up if anything happened to you. I was at little Jackson's funeral and I thought both of them were going to die right there they were so devastated. You are more important then a used Chevy." Shirley explained.
"Thanks Shirley" Sadie replied.
"Yes Shirley it means a lot. Are you sure we can't do anything?" Tony asked.
"Oh no honey I didn't say nothing about not doing anything. I said I would deal with my car. Little one you be more careful from now on and come in to see me when you get your license." Shirley explained.
"I can do that." Sadie replied.
"That's my girl." Shirley replied.
"What about me?" Tony asked.
"You bring that baby in to see me Tony Gibbs." Shirley replied.
"She was eating when I left and I didn't want a baby in the car until Sadie was a little better behind the wheel." Tony explained.
A/N: Well Sadie is Tony's daughter isn't she? Somebody has a medical emergency in the next chapter. New chapter will be up soon. Please review and thanks for reading.
