Hey everyone, I'm back with a new chapter for Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Net! I know you have all been waiting anxiously for this moment, because it's going to be a new duel. Only four duelists remain, and two of them are other OCs submitted by other writers. Anyways, I hope you all enjoy the duel, so let's rev it up!
Chapter 11
"Alright Jacob," Blake said as he approached his son, "you've made it into the finals." He and Jacob high-fived, Jacob laughing. Jacob turned to Luke, and saw he had a look of disappointment on his face.
"Hey man, that was a great game." Luke smiled and held out his hand, which Jacob shook.
"Well, look who made it to the semi-finals." Jacob turned to see Yusei walking over to him, along with Akiza.
"So did you." Jacob and Yusei high-fived as well, and Yusei turned to Luke.
"I saw you two were paired against each other."
Luke nodded, and said, "I tried my hardest, but once the duel started to tip off balance it eventually became a one-sided duel." Yusei nodded in understanding.
"Hey, at least you did your best. Besides, you're still a regional champ." Luke smiled, and Yusei said, "You know, why don't you take my copy of Duel Monsters Network?" Luke, Jacob, and Akiza looked at him like he said he cheated in a duel.
"Y-You mean it?" Luke asked, feeling a little hopeful.
Yusei nodded, "I was participating in this tournament for the challenge, and also the opportunity to duel Kaiba anyway."
"Well get in line," Jacob said pointing to himself with his thumb, "because I'm gonna beat you to the punch!"
"Oh really, and if we end up in a duel, what then?"
"Then we duel for it."
"You're on!"
As Yusei and Jacob talked, they moved closer and closer to each other, until lightning was sparking between their eyes. Akiza and Blake pulled them apart, Akiza saying, "Knock it off you two, save it for the duels." After she had said that, the tone sounded and Kaiba's voice sounded once again.
"The Semi-Final Match is about to begin, will all duelists make their way to the Dueling Field." Jacob ran off towards the entrance, Yusei following close behind.
Akiza sighed, "Those are our boys." Blake nodded in agreement. Jacob and Yusei entered the waiting area, with moments to spare before the door opened again, and they were directed to the arena. The spectators began returning to their seats, and a large screen lowered from the ceiling. Kaiba's face appeared on screen, looking down at the four remaining duelists.
"Ladies and gentlemen, help me in welcoming our final four duelists!" The crowd roared with cheers, some of them calling out names of the duelists. "First, from Bolton Landing, New York, a duelist who's been having a string of good luck this entire tournament, we have Robert Mantz.*" Robert's picture appeared, and Jacob recognized it as the guy he bumped into before his duel with Luke.
"Next," Kaiba said, "from San Francisco, California, the model duelist with a Harpie deck that is both beautiful and deadly, Skyler Beaufort!*" Robert looked to the girl and saw her waving to the cheering audience.
"Next, all the way from New Domino City, the King of Turbo Duels, the winner of the Fortune Cup, Yusei Fudo!" Almost the entire crowd began to chant, "Yusei" over and over again, apparently a fan favorite.
"And last, but not least, a rising star in this tournament who has even impressed me, Jacob Yudara." Unexpectedly, Jacob heard people chanting his name as well. Not as many as Yusei, but enough for it to be audible. "Now then, activate your duel gazers to see the Semi-Final matchups." Jacob turned his on and saw the four pictures swirling around in the air. They soon paired up, clashing against one another in a shower of sparks and then flipping over. Jacob found his picture, and was suprised to see it was paired up with Yusei's. He looked at Yusei, who looked back at him, and Kaiba said, "The Semi-Finals will be Robert versus Skyler and Yusei versus Jacob."
A door opened up on the opposite end of the stadium, and four officials walked out, each bringing a Duel Runner to the field. "Since this will be a Turbo Duel, you will be dueling with these Duel Runners. Also, all Spell cards in your deck will be replaced with a corresponding Speed Spell. To play Speed Spells, you will be using Speed Counters. At the end of each of your turns, both players will gain one Speed Counter. If you do not have enough Speed Counters, you will not be able to play a Spell Card."
One of the officials brought over the Duel Runner he'd be using. All of them were the same, motorcyles with two wheels on each end. The Duel Runner had no cover, like some Duel Runners had, and was designed so the rider would be leaning forward and their legs would be up while driving. The Duel Disk was positioned between the handles, and a screen was positioned above the disk, showing the duel field and Life Point Counter.
"Alright, the first duel will be Robert Mantz versus Skyler Beaufort!" The two duelists readied their Duel Runners, and Kaiba's voice rang out, "Activate Speed World Field Spell!" The entire stadium was cloaked in a colorful, almost rainbow-like aura, and the duelists revved up their engines. "Go!" The two duelists raced forward, and Skyler went first.
Skyler: 4000

Speed Counters: 1-1
"I summon Harpie Channeler (ATK/1400) to the field!" A feminine monster appeared on the field, with red hair and black and white garments. In place of regular hands, it had bird feet and clawed hands with wings, one of them holding a scepter with wings and a gem on one end. Once it was summoned, it began flying alongside Skyler. "Now, by discarding one Harpie card from my hand, I can special summon another Harpie monster from my deck in defense mode. So come forth, Cyber Harpie (ATK/1800)!"
Harpie Channeler raised it's staff and another monster appeared on the field. It had purplish red hair, and it's wings and clawed hands were green. A majority of it's clothing was metallic. "Now I use my one spell counter to activate Elegant Egotist. Since both my Harpie monsters are treated as Harpie Lady, I can special summon Harpie Lady from my hand (ATK 1300)." Another monster appeared on the field; it was similar to the other Harpies, except it had blue and purple clothing with pink hair. It still had the same hands and feet, and it had blue wings.
"Now that I have my three ladies on the field, I build the Overlay Network!" Her three monsters turned into streams of green light, and disappeared into a red vortex behind her. "I Xyz summon Harpie's Pet Phantasmal Dragon (ATK/2000)!" At first, it seemed like Harpie Channeler was exiting the portal, but then a large red and black dragon came out of the portal as well. The body of the dragon was somewhat hazy, like a ghost, and it flew alongside Skyler as she raced across the field, three orbs of light spinning around it.
"Top that!" she shouted, looking behind her.
Skyler: 4000
Robert: 4000
Speed Counters: 1-2
The turn swapped to Robert, and a Speed Counter was added to both of them. "Alright, then! Since there are no monsters in my Graveyard, I can special Summon my two Guardian Eatos from my hand (ATK/2500)." Two portals of light appeared, and two of the same monster came out. Both looked Native American in their style, a tunic and long skirt made from leather, and an eagle headress. Both also had wings, and they flew alongside him.
"But I'm not done yet, I discard one card from my hand to Special Summon The Tricky from my hand (ATK/2000)." A figure appeared out of thin air; it was jester-like in appearance, with two red question marks on it's chest and face. "Okay, I'll have The Tricky attack your dragon!" The monster flew up to Skyler's dragon, which turned to face it. Both monsters attacked, the dragon with a fireball and The Tricky with a dark orb of magic. Their attacks hit them dead on, and both monsters were destroyed.
"Oh no!"
"Now, Guardians, attack her directly!" Both of the monsters charged her, and they shot a ray of light, which blinded Skyler and made her life points drop to zero.
Skyler: 0

Smoke poured out from her engine, forcing her to stop and exit her Duel Runner. Robert raced past and skidded to a stop, raising a hand in victory as the crowd cheered and the Field Spell deactivated. "The winner of our first Semi-Final duel is Robert Mantz!" The crowd cheered louder, and two officials arrived to take the Duel Runners and help Skye.
'He beat her in one turn,' Jacob thought to himself. 'I'm starting to wonder if my deck can even make the cut.'
"Now, for the second Semi-Final duel, Yusei Fudo versus Jacob Yudara!" The crowd went nuts, and they did the same as Robert and Skyler did. Jacob looked to Yusei, who nodded to him. Jacob smiled and they made their way over to the track. "Activate Speed World Field Spell!" The field once again became surrounded in a rainbow-like aura, and Jacob put on his helmet. Various stats appeared on the visor, until finally it stopped on his Life Point counter and disappeared.
"Go!" At the sound of Kaiba's voice, Jacob revved his Duel Runner and raced ahead of Yusei, granting him the first turn.

"I'll start things off by setting three cards face down." Two cards appeared to his left and one to his right, which disappered shortly after. "Next, I'll set one monster and end my turn." Another face-down card appeared, this one sideways and remaining next to him.

"Alright, then it's my turn. I summon Goblindbergh (ATK/1400)!" A small plane manned by a single goblin wearing a helmet and goggles appeared Above Yusei's Duel Runner, the ATK showing 1400. "Now I activate its ability to bring out a Level 4 or lower monster from my hand, and I special summon Trident Warrior (ATK/1800)." A humanoid monster wearing teal armor and a light blue robe also appeared, coming out of a yellow and white portal and holding a large trident in both hands. Goblindbergh turned completely blue as it was swapped into Defense Mode because of it's effect.
"But I'm not done there, next I tribute Goblindbergh to Special Summon Turret Warrior in Attack mode." Jacob looked back and saw the Goblindbergh shatter and reform into a large, golem-like creature. On it's shoulders were two turrets, and it's body was shaped almost like a fighter jet. "Since I tributed Goblindbergh, Turret Warrior gains 1400 ATK (ATK/1200-2600)." Jacob saw the stats on his visor again, but barely reacted to them.
He faced forward again as Yusei ordered his Trident Warrior to attack. The monster held its trident to stab the card and impaled it. To Yusei's surprise, the card did not break. "What's going on?"
Trident Warrior removed his weapon to reveal the monster was Spirit Reaper, "Spirit Reaper; it has a very special effect that prevents it from being destroyed by battle." Yusei ended his turn, knowing his Turret Warrior couldn't break through either.
Jacob: 4000

Speed Counters: 3-3
Jacob drew his next card, and smiled. "I summon Goblin Attack Force (ATK/2300), and then I set one more card face-down." Another face-down card appeared and disappeared, and a group of goblins appeared, running alongside Jacob's Duel Runner. 'I can't do anything to his Turret Warrior, but I also don't want to lose my Goblins just yet.'
"I end my turn."

"My draw. I summon Turbo Synchron (ATK/100)!"
Jacob knew what that meant, "Let's rev it up! I tune my level 1 Turbo Synchron with my level 5 Turret Warrior in order to Synchro Summon Turbo Warrior." Turbo Synchron disappeared, replaced by a single green ring. Turret Warrior flew through the ring, becoming a 3-Dimensional orange outline, with five white stars in the center. A bright light flashed and the rings and stars were replaced with a large red humanoid machine with silver claws. Jacob saw the attack flash at 2500, just 100 points below Turret Warrior's new ATK. Jacob figured it must have a better effect.
"I'll have to end my turn there."
Jacob: 4000

Speed Counters: 5-5
Jacob smiled a little, knowing Yusei wouldn't attack while he had four cards face-down. He drew and set the card face-down, bringing it to a full Spell and Trap Card Zone. 'I've got enough protection to stop any and all attacks he can throw at me.'
"I'll end my turn there Yusei, your move!"
Jacob: 4000

Speed Counters: 6-6
"I set one card face-down, and next I summon Healing Wave Generator (ATK/800)!" A small machine appeared, and it began glowing with a soft light. "Healing Wave Generator has a special ability that allows me to select one monster on my side of the field and gain 100 Life Points for each of its level. So I'm going to choose my Turbo Warrior and I'll gain 600 Life Points."
The machine began glowing brighter as six orbs floated out of Turbo Warrior and went into the Generator. It then released that light in a pulsing wave, giving Yusei extra Life Points. "Now, Turbo Warrior will attack your Goblin Attack Force!"
Turbo Warrior charged forward, and Jacob shouted, "I activate Negate Attack!" Turbo Warrior slashed with it's claws, only to be stopped by an invisible barrier. Jacob smiled and saw one of his goblins mock Yusei in various ways.
"I'll end my turn then."
Jacob: 4000
Yusei: 4600
Speed Counters: 7-7
Jacob drew and saw it was a Speed Spell copy of one of his cards. Now that he had seven counters, he could play just about any spell now. "I pay 2 Speed Counters to play Riryoku (SC: 5)! I can drain the attack of one of your monsters to give one of mine a power boost. So I'll take the power from your Turbo Warrior (ATK/2500-1250) and give it to my Goblin Attack Force (ATK/2300-3550)! Now, I'll attack your Generator!"
The Goblins suddenly stopped, skidding a little, and jumped into the air to attack the Generator. They slammed down on it, knocking it out of the air and continued to break until it turned into dust. The Goblins then turned blue right where they were and plopped down into defense mode. Two of the Goblins were asleep-one with a snot bubble growing and shrinking with each snore and breath-another was lounging on his side, and the remaining two were playing with their clubs like they were rattle toys. Jacob rolled his eyes and ended his turn.

Speed Counters: 6-8
Yusei drew and shouted, "I summon Speed Warrior (ATK/900)!" A humanoid monster wearing aerodynamic armor, a breathing mask, and wheels on his feet appeared next to Yusei opposite Turbo Warrior. "Now I play the spell, Domino Effect (SC: 5)." Jacob had heard of the card, but he couldn't recall it's effect.
"First, I attack with Speed Warior, and because I'm attacking with him on the turn I summoned him his attack power doubles!" Speed Warrior's ATK jumped to 1800, and Yusei shouted, "Attack the Goblin Attack Force!" Jacob could already see the Attack Force ahead, still sitting where they were. Speed Warrior raced past Jacob and hit all five Goblins with a single kick, turning them to dust. "Now, I'll use the effect of Domino Effect."
A small image of the card appeared on Jacob's visor in front of his left eye and he heard a woman's voice speaking through his helmet, "Domino Effect's ability activates when an opponent's monster is destroyed. By destroying one of your monsters, you can destroy another one of your opponent's monsters."
"I'll be sacrificing Speed Warrior in order to destroy your Spirit Reaper!" Both of the monsters exploded, and Jacob was left with no monsters while Yusei had two.
"Now, Turbo Warrior attack him directly!" Turbo Warrior charged forward, but Jacob already had something prepared.
"I activate my trap card, Mirror Force!" The trap card revealed itself, turning around to face Turbo Warrior. A barrier of light appeared around Jacob, and Turbo Warrior slammed into it, exploding afterwards. The shrapnel from Turbo Warrior hit Trident Warrior and destroyed it as well. Jacob smiled to himself as the crowd cheered, and Yusei ended his turn.

Jacob drew another spell and activated it, "I pay 4 Speed tokens to play Scapegoat, which gives me four Scapegoat tokens (DEF/0)." Four small sheep, colored blue, orange, red, and yellow, appeared in a line to Jacob's left. 'They're good for defense, but if I can get a tuner before they're all destroyed I can Synchro Summon.'

"I summon Drill Synchron (ATK/800)." A small, spherical robot with blue drills for hands and a single yellow drill on its forehead appeared, keeping up with Yusei using its triangular treads. "Drill Synchron, take down one of his tokens!" It sped forward, jumping a little and using the drill to destroy one of the tokens.
Jacob: 4000

Speed Counters: 5-8
Jacob drew his next card, hoping for Nettles, Shapesister, or even Gusto Egul. Instead, he found the next best thing. "I pay 4 Speed tokens to activate Premature Burial! This card allows me to bring back one of my monsters at the price of 800 Life Points. So I'll choose Goblin Attack Force!" The Goblins reappered, running on the other side of his Duel Runner. "Alright, attack Drill Synchron!" The Goblins stopped once again and charged for the small robot, which freaked out before it got destroyed. Just like before, the Goblins plopped down in defense mode.
Jacob: 3200

Speed Counters: 2-9
Yusei drew his next card and placed a monster in defense mode. "That's all I can do for now, so the turn passes over to you." Jacob drew his next card and saw it was a tuner monster, and just the one he needed.
"It's go time," Jacob said silently. "I summon Junk Synchron (ATK/1300)!" The small, orange humanoid monster appeared on Jacob's side of the field and Yusei looked at it in surprise. "I remember this card," Jacob said, "I got it in a booster pack and figued it was a bad card, but you showed me the one you had in your deck and I decided to keep it. This card will help me win this duel, and I know just the card to do it." Jacob opened the small box on his belt that held his extra deck and he pulled out his synchro monsters. He grabbed the cards and found Seven Swords Warrior, a level seven Synchro monster. He grabbed it and said, "I tune level 3 Junk Synchron and level 4 Goblin Attack Force in order to Synchro Summon-!"
Before he could finish he felt something, like during his duel with John when he drew Kurigoh. Time seemed to slow down and Jacob moved the Seven Swords Warrior aside with his finger to see Black Rose Dragon. He pulled it out and felt something coming from it, almost like a voice calling out to him. He put the rest of his extra deck back and removed Junk Synchron and Goblin Attack Force from the field. "Black Rose Dragon!"
After playing the card, for a while nothing happened. Jacob wondered if something had gone wrong when his head began to throb hard. He cried out, almost letting go of the handles. He opened his eyes momentarily to see rows of thick, thorny vines breaking up the track. Jacob lifted the front wheel of his Duel Runner and he began riding along the vines.
'What's happening? What is this?' Part of the vines broke away, and the Black Rose Dragon itself appeared. Jacob's head began throbbing harder and faster once it appeared, and Jacob's cries became howls of pain.
"Jacob!" He looked up to see Yusei riding alongside him. He began saying something, but another vine rose up, seperating them. The Dragon roared again and Jacob felt like his head was splitting open. Then, a small coo broke through the chaotic pain in his head. He opened his eyes and saw Kurigoh floting in front of him. "Kurigoh?" He asked the small creature. To his surprise, it replied by nodding, and floated over to his duel disk. The little puffball pointed at the Black Rose Dragon card, then curled itself into a ball, and finally extending its arms and legs like an "X".
Jacob didn't understand for a moment, but he figured it out. "Thanks Kurigoh." Kurigoh tipped it's hat in response, and disapeared in a flurry of golden dust.
"Alright, I activate Black Rose Dragon's special ability. When it's Synchro Summoned, I can order it to self destruct and take all cards on the field with it!"
'I hope this works.'
Black Rose Dragon roared again, and it exploded in red and purple flames. The petals fell onto the other cards and they shattered the moment they touched them. The vines suddenly stopped growing and Jacob saw the rest of the track ahead. He touched down and saw Yusei pull up next to him.
"You alright?" Yusei asked him.
"Yeah, I'm good."
"Alright, then let's finish this up." Yusei pulled away and Jacob sighed in relief. He looked at his hand again; he had two monsters, but saw one that could help him win.
"Okay, it's time to end this! Since Black Rose Dragon was destroyed by its own effect, I can Special Summon Interplanetarypurplythorny Dragon (ATK/2200)!" A black and violet portal appeared above Jacob's Duel Runner, and a large, spiny purple dragon flew out.
"Alright, now attack Yusei directly!" The dragon turned to face Yusei and exhaled purple fire. The flames spread around Yusei and smoke began to vent from his engine. Yusei skidded to a halt and Jacob stopped his own duel runner as well.
Jacob: 3200
Yusei: 0
Win: Jacob
Jacob got out of his duel runner and ran over to Yusei's, who was waving the smoke away and coughing. "Hey, you alright?"
Yusei removed his helmet and said, "Yeah, I'm fine." He laughed a little. "Looks like you beat me."
Jacob realized it was true and Kaiba's voice sounded again, "Ladies and gentlemen, our second winner for the Semi-Final match, Jacob Yudara!" The crowd began to cheer for Jacob, but Kaiba's voice drowned them out, "Unfortunately, due to some unforseen circumstances, we will be taking an intermission until further notice." Jacob remembered what he meant and ran around the track until he reached the vines. The Field Spell had already gone away and Jacob removed his helmet, but the vines were still there.
Jacob couldn't believe what he was seeing, and when he reached out to touch the vines he actually felt them. They weren't holograms, they were real vines. He stepped back, eyes wide with fear and confusion, when he felt a hand on his shoulder. He turned around to see Yusei, "Come on, let's go find the others." Jacob nodded and reluctantly followed.
In the VIP Box, Kaiba was rewatching the moment Jacob summoned the Black Rose Dragon, the vines appearing on the field, and finally the Dragon self-destructing. The door opened and Kaiba heard Mokuba's voice, "Seto, I ran the scanners during the duel like you asked."
"And?"
"Not much activity, but the moment that dragon was played we got a major spike. He could barely control it, so destroying that dragon wasn't just so he could get his second dragon onto the field and win the duel." Kaiba continued to watch the same video, and Mokuba asked, "Seto? Is everything all right?"
Kaiba moved on to another video, some security feed, and saw one of the duelists. The duelist was shuffling his deck, not much going on. But then he noticed he was pulling cards from his deck and setting them on top. He placed the deck into his duel pad and activated it. What caught Kaiba's eye was the deck itself. Kaiba replayed it with wide eyes as he realized what this meant.
"Mokuba, prepare the stadium lift. I have an announcement to make."

I am really sorry if this was not as epic as you'd thought it would be, but I had to look up the cards, make fake ones, and then my friend offered to duel with me (since he calls it an unfair advantage) and I ended up losing the first time. What's more, after I finished recording this stuff he asked for a test duel with his newly made Skull Servants deck. It was a total pain and he trounced me twice. Afterwards he said, "This is the best Jacob Yudara has to offer" because I was using Jacob's deck. That really hurt me, so don't be surprised if I decide to put this on permanent hiatus, even though I've actually written the story in summary up to three or four future arcs. Rest assured, if I am strong enough to write that far I will write a duel that will make up for this.
In the meantime, I want to know if Jacobs hould continue using his deck or if he should switch to a different deck. I don't really follow the ban list, so I'm up or just about anything. I even took an online quiz and three times in a row my results were a Frog Monarch deck. Leave your thoughts in the comments about if Jacob should change his deck or keep it.
