What if Shane died in Black Dawn? There would have been the usual grieve and sadness from his friends. But not this time. As far as Claire, Eve and Michael know... Shane didn't die. But Shane was dead. What happens when there are now two Shanes? The dead one and new one? How far would 'new Shane' take his hatred for Claire? Can old Shane stop it before Claire gets badly hurt? Chapter 8 - Gone

Michaels POV

It felt like hours before the paramedics got to Claire. She was out cold with a huge cash on the right side of her head. Her hair was dyed red with dried blood and her skin was whiter than white. I felt sick for her. Part of me didn't want her to wake up to face the reality that her boy friend did this to her. The love of her life put her in this much pain.

Eve was very rigid with me. Every time I went near her she flinched and squirmed away. The sadness and timidity gave her eyes the most incomplete look I had ever seen. Surely she knew I would never hurt her, right? Even if she did, Shane had scarred her. I dread to think what he had done to Claire's emotions.

When the paramedics finally made their way into the house and into my room, I felt relief all over. I hoped that deep, deep down, things will go back to normal. But I knew that was extreme wishful thinking.

They checked Claire over. A few tuts and shaking heads later, they loaded her onto a stretcher and out to the ambulance. "So?" I asked a police man, who stood in my bedroom doorway scribbling nonsense onto his pad.
"Your friend will be alright." He looked up and smiled. "Although its pretty obvious that the emotional damage will be a lot more extreme than the physical." He looked towards Eve who was buried into my side. "You should get checked over, you don't look good yourself, sweetheart."

"I'm okay." She choked. It sounded as if any second she will burst into tears any second. She was probably all cried out.
"We do need to check you, hun." The police man gave Eve a sympathetic look. Then shrugged it of. "You said that Miss. Danvers was a victim of domestic abuse, is that correct?" I nodded. "And do you know the whereabouts of her partner?"
"He's in the next room." Yeah, I felt awful for turning him in. And I know something changed in him way too quickly. But he hurt Claire. He basically hurt my little sister. I couldn't let him get away with that.

"He's not." The policeman frowned. "We searched the whole house, he isn't in here."
Shit.
