AUBREY'S POV

It's about six in the morning when Chloe wakes up. Beca is still asleep holding onto her hand. I know she's going to be sore when she wakes up. These chairs are far from comfortable, and it doesn't help with the way she's laying her head on the bed. I was never able to fall asleep, and I've been staring at the same page in this book all night.

CHLOE'S POV

I wake up to the sound of beeping and hospital noises. There is a slight snoring sound coming from Beca sleeping to my left. She has a grip on my hand, and her head is lying next to it.

I am actually awake for a few minutes before Beca or Aubrey notice. I watch Beca's sleeping form for a while before I look to my right. Aubrey is sitting in a chair staring at a book. I haven't heard her turn the page once so I don't think she's actually reading it. I figure I've been awake long enough now to let them know I'm up.

"Aubrey.." I whisper, I really don't want to wake Beca. She looks peaceful, but she hears me anyways and jerks her head up in my direction.

BECA'S POV

I am in the middle of a dream when I hear it, when I hear her voice.

I'm dreaming we're lying out in the quad. My head is in her lap and she is running her hand through my hair. We're not talking, it's a nice day and I have a play list of songs for her quietly playing from an unknown source. Her hands in my hair slowly start to put me to sleep, and just before I fall, I hear her.

"Aubrey.."

One word jerks me out of my dream and my head whips up to look at her. She looks a bit better than she did last night, she has a little more color. She's smiling softly at me and god she looks beautiful.

I'm trying to get words to come out of my mouth, but I just can't seem to. My chest tightens, and my eyes fill with tears waiting to fall. She squeezes my hand softly, and opens her mouth to say something. A doctor walks in and she turns her attention to him. She squeezes my hand once more as the doctor checks over her.

We all sit in silence for a few minutes before Aubrey finally breaks it.

"Can she go home?" she questions the man as she stands up.

He looks at her for a second before looking back at the chart in his hands.

"I asked you a question," she spits out harshly. He looks at her again then back at his chart.

This doc had better answer her soon or he will regret it.

"Doctor, could you please answer her?" Chloe whispers.

"Give me a second and I will talk to you, not her."

"Whatever," Aubrey mutters under her breath. I'm not the only one who hears it by the look on the doctor's face.

"Miss, could you please go out to the waiting room," he says looking into her eyes not attempting to hide the annoyance in his voice.

"She's fine here. I want her here. I need her here," Chloe tells the doctor giving him a hard look.

"Fine," he shoots Aubrey another look, "I want to keep you here a few more hours longer to make sure everything is okay. After then you should be able to go home." He doesn't wait for a reply before he walks back out the room.

"Asshole," Aubrey mumbles as she sits back down into her chair taking Chloe's free hand in hers.

"Yeah, what was his deal?" I ask.

"I may have dated him awhile back and I may have 'broken' his heart as he likes to say."

"You dated him? Ha, how did you hurt him?"

"We were together for like two weeks and he tells me he loves me one night. So I tell him we shouldn't see each other anymore. I didn't love him, I was just looking for a hook up that's all. It wasn't even a real relationship, not to me anyways."

"Wow," I whisper because honestly I don't think there is anything else to say. I can't believe Aubrey dated that nerdy little dude.

I look over at Chloe who is already looking at me.

"I love you," she says as she pulls my hand to her mouth to place a kiss on it.

"I love you too, Chloe," I whisper as I lean forward to kiss her forehead, "so much".

We end up spending another day in the hospital with Chloe. Everything seems to be fine, but the new doctor wanted to be sure. Chloe's first doctor requested someone else take over for him because apparently he couldn't deal with being in the same room with Aubrey.

Aubrey and I held Chloe's hands all day as we sat around talking. There wasn't much we could do in a hospital.

Around nine that night Chloe had fallen asleep, and I got up and told Aubrey I'd be back before morning. I had a couple things I wanted to do before we got Chloe out the hospital and back home.

My first stop is the police station, we haven't actually talked about what happened or who did this, and maybe they'll know something. I don't really want to bring it up to Chlo in case she doesn't feel like talking about it yet.

The lady at the front desk recognized me from the other times I've been in the station, and sweetly asks what she can do for me.

Turns out Chloe didn't recognize the man and wasn't able to accurately describe him for the officers, but they're looking based on what information she was able to give them. I don't hesitate to tell them that Jesse had to have had something to do with it. They tell me it's possible, and they're doing everything they can right now. I thank them and leave praying they can figure this out.

My next stop is my father's house, it's a little late but there are still lights on in the house so I figure it'll be okay. I knock on the big wooden door as I wait I can hear small footsteps making their way to the door. My stepmother opens the door with a mixture of confusion and worry on her face.

"Hey.. Is my dad home?"
