The chapter where Jesse loses his mind. Enjoy. (:

BECA'S POV

When I wake the next morning, Chloe and Aubrey are softly talking about being glad to get to go home. I laugh a little and agree saying these chairs are killing my back.

"Yeah, well you know you could have climbed into the bed with me. Probably would've been a hell of a lot more comfortable," she says nudging me with her elbow.

"I know but I didn't want to wake you up or anything last night," I laugh a little, nudging her softly.

"Oh well, whatever," she laughs as the new doctor comes in.

"Glad to see you're still doing good Miss. Beale," he says checking charts and other things that are nonsense to me.

I zone out while he starts talking, once again thinking about Chloe and now my dad. We've made plans to sit down once a week either at his house or at a restaurant for dinner. I can honestly say I'm excited to go back and visit him. I'm excited to let him be my dad again, although if he starts acting like a weirdo at school I will deny he's my father. Any kid would do that though so it wouldn't really be that mean. The doctor saying something about discharge papers brings me back to reality.

A long thirty minutes we're pushing Chloe out of the hospital and down to Aubrey's car. Finally headed home.

A week later Chloe is doing pretty good, but we still wait on her hand a foot. She doesn't have a chance to do anything for herself. I can tell it's starting to aggravate her so I've eased up a little and I let her do whatever she wants to do without helping her. Aubrey on the other hand either doesn't realize it or does and doesn't care. I think it's going to take Chloe snapping a bit before she actually stops.

Aubrey left a few hours ago to go study at the library so Chloe and I are lying in her bed watching some stupid romantic movie she picked out. I honestly haven't a clue what is going on, I've been watching Chloe the whole time. She doesn't even notice it until my phone starts to ring and I'm still staring at her and not answering the phone.

"Hey, Beca come back to earth please. Your phone is ringing and ruining the movie," she pinches my arm a little and I dig my phone out of my pocket.

"It's the police station," I say looking over at Chloe and just as I go to answer the ringing stops and a missed call notification pops up.

"Do you think they have anything good to say?" Chloe questions softly, we still haven't really talked about it.

"I don't know. Let's see," I answer and unlock my phone to call the station back. Chloe's hand slips into mine, squeezes tightly, and lays her head on my shoulder.

The detective says he think they might have a lead, a good lead. They rounded up a few inmates in the prison Jesse is staying in and a few of them told them some interesting stuff. That Jesse was asking any inmate that was about to be let out to do a big favor for him. That he would do absolutely anything in return, he just needed one favor. The inmates said they didn't know what favor he wanted but knew that someone said yes because he finally shut up asking people to talk to him.

So taking that information, they looked up to see all inmates that were released around the day Chloe was shot. They asked us to come down to the station to see if Chloe can pick out her attacker in a line up. They're pretty sure they have the guy who did it, but want to confirm it with her before they start to really interrogate him. We tell him we will be there as soon as possible.

I send a text out to Aubrey to tell her what's going on, she doesn't reply, but she's already sitting in the station by the time we get there.

"Yeah.. That's him, number three," she points to the man and takes a step back.

"That's who we thought. Aiden Dolan, we picked him up last night after he attempted to rob a little gas station. When we found out he was released the day you were attacked I called the staff at the prison to see if he interacted with Jesse. Obviously, he had talked to with him, constantly, for four days before he was released. I'm going to sit down with him and see what he's got to say," he says looking at Chloe.

"Thank you, Miss Beale. I plan to get this settled very soon. Thank you for coming down today, you all can leave and I'll be in contact," he smiles softly before walking out of the room.

"Come on guys, lets go get something to eat," Aubrey suggests, softly touching Chloe's arm when she doesn't respond.

"Yeah, that sounds good," she looks at Aubrey a little blankly and smiles but it doesn't reach her eyes. It's the saddest smile I've ever seen on her face. I hate it so I grab her hand and we start to walk out to Aubrey's car.

It takes three days to get something out of Aiden. Three days and a deal before he gives Jesse up. Jesse asked him to find Chloe and to kill her. Being the scum Aiden is he didn't ask for anything in return. He agreed to come kill some random girl just because he wanted to do it. When the detective told me this, I wanted to go and kill Aiden.

For the first time since we got home from the hospital, I leave without Chloe. I have to go see Jesse and maybe see if I can talk to him about all this. Try to see if I can get him to stop everything and leave us alone. I don't tell Aubrey or Chloe where I'm going because they will only stop me and this is something I have to do, I have to try.

"Beca! Hey! You came to visit me? How are you?" Jesse asks and he genuinely looks happy to see me. It makes me sick to my stomach.

"I'm not good, Jesse," there's no need to lie to him.

"Oh, why? What's wrong Becs- oh um Beca, sorry," at least he got it through his head to not call me Becs.

"Oh, I don't know Jesse, maybe you got some asshole to try to kill Chloe," his eyes widen, "Yeah, and I know what you've done. Luckily your boy messed up, and she's still alive," I keep my voice calm and even, no need to let him see just how much he's destroying me.

"She's alive? No, she can't be," he starts pulling at his hair, and I've never seen anyone look so crazy.

"Yes, she's alive and your boy turned you in. How many times are you going to do this? All you are doing is making things worse for yourself. That's why I am here today, to talk to you, to try to get you to leave us alone," he stops pulling his hair and looks up at me. He stares at me for so long that I think he's completely gone, and then he goes insane. If there weren't glass between us, Jesse's hands surely would have been around my throat. He was screaming and banging on the glass like a lunatic. A guard finally grabs him and starts to pull him back to I guess his cell.

"Jesse.." he calms down and looks me in the eye "There was never going to be an us. If you honestly love or care about me, you'll drop all this nonsense and leave Chloe and me alone. Please.. If you care leave us alone," I beg in the softest, sweetest voice I've ever used with him, pleading and begging him.

Surprisingly, Jesse looks at me for a moment longer before nodding and dropping his head as the guard escorts him away.

"If you honestly love or care about me, does she think I really don't?"

"I do love her. I do. I do. I love her. I care about her. I do. I really do. I really, really-"

"DUDE, SHUT THE HELL UP!" Jesse's cellmate screams at him.

"The fuck? Who do you thINK YOU ARE?!"

"A guy who is incredibly close to ripping your head off!"

"Yeah? Bring it meathead! Bet you're some perv and that's why you are in here, you won't do shit! I SAID BRING IT MEATHEAD," As soon as Jesse finishes his sentence his cellmate jumps him and proceeds to kick. His. Ass.

"Miss. Mitchell, there has been an incident at the prison involving Jesse.."
