In the Forbidden Forest

"How come we didn't run into any teachers trying to keep us out?" George asked, keeping a tight hold on Angel's hand to prevent him from getting lost.

"They don't think anyone is actually stupid enough to try going in on the first day!" Tonks said cheerfully, leading them along aimlessly through the forest.

"Where are we going? Is there something specific you want to show us?" Fred asked.

"I dunno! I'm mainly going to point out places that you shouldn't go, unless you want to die a gruesome death. For example, if you go that way, you will probably get eaten by a colony of abnormally large spiders," she replied, waving her hand towards their right.

At this, Angel turned pale at latched tightly onto George's arm, who in turn scowled at Tonks.

"Don't scare him!" he scolded, glaring at the still-cheerful Tonks.

"We'll be fine, I can probably protect you from anything we run across. I'm pretty good at Defense Against the Dark Arts, you know. I'm just warning you in case you were to sneak in here without me, Charlie, or Becky, which I do not recommend, since we know a lot more about protecting ourselves and you from whatever we could encounter," she replied, turning serious for once as she finished talking.

The group walked on in silence for a while, going deeper into the Forest. After several minutes, Angel heard something moving towards them, surrounding them, and tried to get George's attention by tugging on his sleeve, as it seemed that no one else had heard anything. George didn't notice his friend's efforts to get his attention, having just started a discussion with Fred about various Quidditch teams. Angel, at a loss for what to do, let go of George's hand to try and get Tonks' attention. Almost as soon as he let go of George's hand, a group of wolves came out from the trees, some forming a circle around Tonks and the twins, the others going to sniff at Angel, who looked at them curiously, no longer in panic.

"Angel! Get away from them! Run!" Fred cried out, alarmed at the way the wolves had separated her from the group.

Angel, not noticing Fred's alarm, began giggling as she reached out to pet the wolves. She looked almost as though she were having a silent conversation with them. After a few moments, she looked back to her companions and finally noticed their panic. She pulled out her notebook and wrote in large letters, Calm down, they're not going to hurt you. They're very nice.

Fred and George stared at her in shock, although they were not quite as nervous as before. As they began to relax, the wolves who had been circling them moved away, so that they could leave if they wanted. As they tried to get closer to Angel, though, one of the wolves got in their way, snarling. Angel gave that wolf a stern glare, and, with a whine, it backed off.

I told you two to stop panicking. Shouldn't you go check on Tonks? She seems to have passed out.

The twins exchanged a look, silently coming to an agreement, and George returned to Tonks' prone figure.

"What is going on, Angel?" Fred asked cautiously as he approached his friend.

I'm talking to them. They're really smart, I think they know more about the Forest than anybody else. They said they can take us to see the unicorns. Can we? Please?

Angel looked at him pleadingly, so how was Fred supposed to say no to that?

He sighed. "Alright. Let's see if we can wake Tonks up first, she wouldn't want to miss this," he assented, holding his hand out for his friend. She took his hand to stand up and followed him back to where George and Tonks were.

"I don't know the spell to bring them out of unconsciousness, do you Fred?" George asked.

"Nope," Fred replied, watching as Angel appeared to have another silent conversation with one of the wolves.

Maya said that it's Rennervate. She's seen people use it in the forest before.

"Okay! Err… Fred, did you bring your wand? I didn't think to grab mine," George admitted sheepishly after digging through his pockets.

Fred sighed and began looking through his pockets, only to discover that he hadn't brought his wand either. Angel rolled her eyes at them and handed Fred her wand to borrow.

"Thanks. Rennervate," Fred said, pointing the wand at Tonks.

Fortunately, the spell worked on the first try, despite Fred using a wand that was not his own. Tonks sat up blearily, rubbing her eyes.

"Guys, I had the weirdest dream…" she murmured before opening her eyes. "Oh bloody hell, that wasn't a dream?"

"Calm down, Tonks. The wolves like Angel, so they're not going to hurt us," George said, already seeming used to the situation.

"According to Angel, the wolves are going to take us to see the unicorns. You interested?" Fred asked, already knowing the answer.

"Heck yeah! Becky and I have been trying to find the unicorns for ages," Tonks said, instantly cheering up as she stood up.

Angel smiled. Follow us he wrote before turning and following the wolf he had called Maya deeper into the forest.

AN: There should only be two chapters left for September 2nd, but I'm not really sure yet. This story arc is already turning out to be much longer than I expected.
