Chapter 22
"Who is this?" Elsa asked, not letting her thoughts take over her mind.
"It's your father. Let me in, we need to talk." Her dad said bluntly
"Jesus christ dad. Don't do that to me and could you maybe come back tomorrow?" She released her held breath. Anna came strolling into the room.
"Who is it?" She mouthed.
"My jackass father." Elsa told her with her finger still on the button.
"Hey that's not nice. And no I cannot come back tomorrow, this is important and I need to talk to Anna." He was stern and held his ground, ready for Elsa to shoot him down.
"Fine, but I'm not putting pants on." Elsa unlocked the door so he could come up to their floor.
"Jesus I didn't need that image." He said before disappearing.
Anna ran back into their room and slipped into a pair of sweats and a tank top. She heard the door open and then close. Voices in the other room, but they were muffled. She walked back to find them sitting on the couch.
"...I just don't see why you must basically tell me that you guys were having sex." Elsa's father was saying. Anna blushed deeply. "See at least someone has is kind enough to dress themselves." Anna felt more embarrassed.
"Yeah well most people are nice enough to leave a newly engaged couple alone for a few days. Gosh, it hasn't even been twenty-four hours!" Elsa was getting heated. A cool hand pressed against her chest.
"Relax my love." Anna whispered into her ear. "What can we do for you, ?" She asked kindly.
"Well...actually I'm not sure why I'm here." Elsa glared at the man.
"Are you kidding me? You interrupted our beautiful love making for nothing?!" Elsa half screamed. Agdar cringed at his daughters words.
"Oh, wait! I remember. I wanted to ask Anna when she wanted to start her little thing. And what are you guys doing for the wedding?" He was smiling like he had done nothing wrong.
Anna could tell that her almost wife was pissed. She ran her hand through the girls messy hair. "Relax babe, I got this. Go take a shower." Anna whispered into her ear.
Elsa jumped at her chance. She stormed down the hallway and slammed the bedroom door.
"Wow..the sex is that bad huh?" Adgar said, looking at Anna. They heard the shower turn on and heavy footsteps in the back.
"I'm not even going to answer that." Anna frowned. "But anyway, couldn't you have just called?"
"Well yes I could have, but I figured you guys wouldn't be busy. So here I am." He was still smiling.
"Listen Mr. Frost, it's nice to see you and all but I'm going to have to ask you to leave, for all of our safeties. I will call you in a few days and we can meet up somewhere." Anna led him to the door.
"I understand. Well, give my apologies to my daughter. And you two have fun." A smile still plastered on his face as he left. Anna took a deep breath and made her way into their bedroom.
Steam was pouring out of the bathroom, she could hear a small whimper from inside. "Elsa? Honey? You okay?" She proceeded carefully.
There was a loud sniffle then Elsa's voice cracked behind the glass wall. "Yeah, I-I'm fine. It's all good in here, just one big happy train smashing it's way through walls."
Anna undressed and slipped her way into the hot water. "What's wrong?" She sat down next to her blond, the water cascading down their naked bodies.
Elsa leaned into the girl beside her. "I don't know. That's the problem. I have no idea what's wrong, but I'm scared, I'm sad all the time, I mean you make me happy but this is different. When I'm alone, I think about how better off everyone would be if I was dead." Anna flinched at her words. "But when I remember I get to wake up next to you in the morning and fall asleep next to you at night, it makes life worth living. But I'm afraid I'll forget, I'm afraid one day the knife will cut to deep." Elsa began to sob, her words came in parts no longer strong enough to really talk.
"...But you love me...then I cut myself...and you didn't notice..." Words turned to tears as she trembled into the red head.
"Wait..did you say you cut yourself?" Anna felt the blond nod against her.
"Elsa, why? I love you! I don't want you to die. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if something happened to you. My dad probably has the cure sitting in his lab right now! Elsa...I need you, more then you probably need me. But we are getting married! Married, Elsa. You and me. Wife and Wife. You're problems are my problems, okay?" Another nod from the blond.
"Good. Now lets just relax the rest of the day, read maybe, would you like that?" The head shifted. "No? Okay, how about some chocolate? We will go out and buy pounds and pounds of anything and everything chocolate. Yeah?"
Elsa smiled against Anna's breast. She nodded. "I'm sorry." She whispered.
"I'm just glad you're okay." Anna leaned back and let the hot water cover her body.
"Oh my god Anna, you have to try this." Elsa spoke over their show. Anna leaned over and took a pretzel, scooping some chocolate ice cream onto it.
Anna hesitated for a moment before taking a bite. "Oh my god. I knew I loved you for some reason." She moaned.
The girls laughed. "So we need to come up with a date." Elsa settled into the couch.
"I know..but I just don't want to rush this." Anna pointed out.
"Anna...we are engaged now, it's okay to rush into this." Elsa smiled as she ate another chocolate ice cream covered pretzel.
Anna sighed and turned down the tv. "I know."
"Whats wrong?" Elsa asked.
"It's nothing. How about next month. November 5th?" Anna giggled.
"Oh come on, cliche much?" Elsa laughed.
"Please, please, please Elsa please!" The red head begged. "You know it's my favorite movie! Please."
"Fine, fine. But you have to plan it and I get to choose the dresses." Elsa smirked.
"Yes!" Anna jumped up, dancing around the living room. "This is going to be awesome!" She sang.
Planning a wedding was harder the Anna thought. Her days consisted of finding the perfect cake, décor, making sure invites were sent out to their friends and family, and finding a spot to actually hold the wedding.
Elsa still wouldn't tell her if she'd gotten the dresses yet. "It's a surprise." She would say.
The girls were spending hardly any time together, with Anna always being out and going to appointments and Elsa who had recently gotten a job at a comic book company. But Elsa could feel her health deteriorating.
"Elsa, I'm home!" Anna called through the house as she set her bag down.
"How was your day?" Elsa asked, emerging from the bedroom.
"It went okay, I still have to look for a photographer. The guy I met with today doesn't know how to take wedding pictures. So that's frustrating." Anna gave a nervous laugh.
Elsa closed the space between them and kissed Annas soft lips. "Relax, we still have two weeks." She said brushing a strand of red hair from Annas face.
The red heads phone began to ring. "Ugh, who is it now." She whipped it out of her back pocket. "What." She said into the device.
"You do? Really? Sweet, yeah I don't see why not. Okay see you soon." She hung up and looked at her soon to be wife.
"What?" Elsa wondered.
"He said it's done." Anna couldn't believe what she just said.
"Who's done?"
"My dad. It's done. You're going to be okay." Tears welled up in Anna's eyes.
Elsa gasped and pulled her beautiful red head into her arms. "When are we leaving?" She mumbled.
"Ten minutes ago." Anna pulled back and grabbed her bag. "Let's go."
Elsa grabbed her keys and they headed towards the North Mountain.
The Jeep roared over the bumps in the dirt road, Elsa drifted around the corner. Her heart was racing, her mind ran over the possibilities. They pulled up in front of the garage, Anna jumped out before the Jeep came to a full stop.
Her red hair flowing in the wind as she ran inside. "Elsa! Come on!" She yelled.
Something was wrong Elsa could feel it. She gazed around the house, but nothing seemed out of place. She reached into the glove box of her Jeep and pulled out a pistol, slipping it into her jeans, she went inside. Elsa was careful to watch for anything out of the ordinary as she made her way into the library.
Anna was bouncing up and down next to her dad, who was prepping a needle. Elsa looked at the older man. She walked over to them and place a hand on his shoulder. "Is everything okay?" She whispered.
"Of course." He said looking up at her then back at his computer.
Her eyes followed his and she read the text on the computer. "It's a trap."
Derek stood up. "Ready?" He asked walking over to a chair.
Elsa sat down and looked him in the eyes, as he bent down to pierce her skin. "It's adrenaline, there's two up stairs and a third waiting outside the door. Anna knows."
Elsa nodded as the needle plunged into her vein. It was like fire coursing through her body, she watched as he pulled the vial out and sat down.
She heard them before she saw them. Her body moving even faster then normal, she had already taken down the first two when the third broke through the wooden doors. Time slowed down around her, the man was dressed from head to toe in bullet proof gear, two machine guns sat in each hand.
She rolled away from Anna and her father, looking for a spot to take him down. Pages flew from books around her as bullets danced dangerously close to her body. Elsa heard Anna scream as her left side began to sting.
Elsa bolted backwards to the stairs as the brute advanced on her. She reached one of the men she already took down and grabbed his lone pistol. Her eyes peered through the railing from behind a bookcase. His body was facing her so his back must be open, she decided.
Elsa's hand gripped the railing as she flung herself over, her feet connected with the brutes chest and head, knocking him to the ground. Without a second thought she pulled his mask off and fired. She dropped her weapons and took a step back, the adrenaline was beginning to wear off and she felt the familiar burn of a gun shot wound.
Her body fell backwards into a set of arms, her vision was blurry, her mind raced. As she fell into darkness.
Bright lights pierced her eyes, voices around her muffled, she could tell she was moving. There was a flash of fire red hair above her. "Anna." She tried to say, but no words came out. Her vision blurred and she was falling, through the sky.
"Elsa." A voice echoed through her mind. "Stop." It said.
"I can't." She screamed.
"Stop fighting. Let go. Come with us." She looked around, there were men and woman around her. All falling with her. Smiling at her.
"Let go. Just let it go." One said.
"Fly with us." Another echoed.
There was a pain in her back, she could feel the skin breaking away. Then all at once, wings broke from her shoulder blades.
"Come, join us in beauty and ever lasting life." Another one said.
Elsa looked down, or was it up? She saw the earth and when she looked the other way, white. White expanse across space. She wasn't falling, Elsa realized, she was drifting.
Her wings beat, propelling her towards the white light. But she looked back once more. Anna. She thought.
"No." Her voice was loud and boomed across the emptiness. She stopped.
The angles around her stopped also. "I have to go back." She said.
"No." They said in unison. "There is no going back." Blades of fire and bone were drawn form stars around them.
The white began to crack and break, streaks of red filling it's place. "You're time is up. You have given up your life in heaven for a life in hell."
The angles broke formation and all drove towards her. Swords held high, faces burning, their wings turned black as space itself.
