Chapter 23

Elsa's hand burned, she glanced down and watched a sword made of ice appear. Her wings beat against the feeling of gravity pulling her towards the burning expanse. She danced and dodge the blades like she was born with the blue and white feathers.

Her hand gripped her blade tight, she dodged a down swing from one of the demons and pushed off his body, back towards earth, back towards Anna. Her Anna. Elsa's heart beat on over time, fighting gravity and her assailants.

The girls breathing was heavy, her fight was hard, and she knew she had to keep going. Elsa began to hear the faint beep of hospital equipment. The soft sob of a girl and the faint smell of hot chocolate filled her senses, she fought harder, dancing, cutting, blocking, breathing. Elsa's head ached, she could feel her heart giving up, her soul burned against her body.

"Elsa. Please wake up." Anna's soft voice rose up like a song.

Elsa could feel her body letting go, at first it was slow then it hit her like a train. Her body grew limp and she was falling.

Elsa snapped awake, jolting up right. Anna screamed and nurses rushed in to the room trying to restrain the girl. Her body quivered, hands danced on her skin, their warmth burning on her cool skin.

Her mind relaxed as she fell back into the bed breathing heavily. Everyone looked at her in shock. Elsa felt a small hand grip her own, she latched on like it was the only thing keeping her alive and that might be true.

The room began to clear and Anna threw herself onto the girl, bawling into her blond hair. "It's okay. I'm okay. We're all okay." Elsa whispered into the fiery hair around her.

Anna sobbed and kissed the girls neck. She took a deep breath to calm herself down and looked into the blue eyes. "You died." She whispered. "The heart thingy did the flat line thingy and they tried to bring you," Anna began to cry harder, "then they said you died. You were shot in the heart Elsa. Straight through the heart." Anna's fingers lingered over the girls breast.

"If I was shot in straight in the heart I would have bleed out." Elsa smiled, happy to see the girls face once more.

"Don't be so fucking literal." Anna scoffed. "We're making a rule. From now on there will be no adventures, no getting shot, no fun what so ever that involves gun or knifes or big jerk faces."

Elsa laughed but cringed at the pain. "Deal."

The soon to be wives cuddled on the small hospital bed. Elsa told her a story. A story of a frozen angel and burning demons. A story of a girl saved by the person she loved. The doctor had come in after some time to fill them in on Elsa's situation. He said they would be doing some scans tomorrow for the cancer and that she would have to stay at least another four or five days depending on the recovery rate. Soon after Elsa drifted off to sleep with not a worry in the world. She had everything she needed, snuggled into her chest, wrapped warmly in her arms.

As her wonderful hospital visit came to an end the girls decided to post pone the wedding so Elsa could recover fully. They decided on November 27th. Elsa still hadn't picked up their dresses though. And Anna needed to reschedule everything.

Despite Anna's constant reminder that Elsa needed to stay home and rest. She snuck out one afternoon while Anna was out looking for a photographer. She decided not to take the Jeep, just in case something happened, she didn't want to hurt anyone.

She texted Olaf to see if he was up for helping her lug the heavy dresses home, which he immediately responded with a, "Sure be there in 10."

Elsa smiled at her phone before walking into the shop. "Ah Miss Frost, we've been expecting you." The man behind the counter said with a smile. "Your dresses are finished and I must say where did you get these designs?" He cringed with delight as he shuffled through some hangers looking for her name.

"I drew them." Elsa smiled and felt her cheeks redden. The door opened and the bell jingled.

"Hey." Olaf said slightly out of breath.

Elsa turned and looked at him. She smiled trying to think of what she wanted to say. "Olaf.. I-"

"It's okay." He was quick to say.

"No Olaf it's not okay. I've been a total bitch to you." Elsa looked back at the man ringing up her purchase. "You had Anna before I came around and stole her... and I feel horrible. I broke you guys apart." The words burned her throat.

"Elsa." His hand pressed against her shoulder. "It's been a hard few months for everyone. The things you did for Anna...everything you've done, it's okay. And I'm okay, I know when things settle down that Anna and I will be seeing a whole lot of each other, I'm just glad that she's safe and that you're safe. She's happy with you and that makes me happy." He smiled a warm smile and pulled her into a hug.

"Actions speak louder then words. You're actions tell me you love my little sister, that you'll protect her no matter what. Am I right?" Elsa nodded against his coat. "And I will be here for you guys whenever you need me, for whatever you need me for."

Elsa pulled away from his big arms and looked up at the boys face. "Thank you." She whispered

"Now. Let's get these masterpieces home before Anna knows your gone." He laughed and took the black bags from the counter. Elsa paid and followed him out the door and into the busy city.

The walk home was short and the apartment was warm. Elsa took the dresses from Olaf and laid them down on her bed before offering him a beer. They chatted for awhile and time ticked by, Anna came through the door and let out a loud sigh. She dropped her coat and bag close to the door and flopped down on the couch. "Kill me." She moaned.

"You're not getting rid of me that easily." Elsa laughed, pulling out a beer for her honey.

"Shouldn't you be in bed? You know, resting?" Anna lectured.

"She was fine walking around earlier today." Olaf voice chimed in.

Anna shot up and peered into the kitchen. "Olaf?" Anna smiled and jumped up rushing to hug him.

He stood there with his arms wrapped around the small girl waiting for his words to settle in. He felt the smiled fade before she pulled back and looked up at him. "What did you just say? You're just joking right? Because that's not funny." She shot Elsa a look. "This isn't funny." Olaf snickered and Anna punched him.

"See for yourself love." Elsa kind of pointed to the bedroom. Anna brushed past her in her fit of anger. They both heard the girl gasp.

"Oh Elsa...their beautiful." The muffled voice came from the bedroom. "Where did you find these?" Anna peeked her head out the door.

"I drew them." Elsa smiled.

"Shut up! No way!" Anna peered back into the room.

Elsa took a deep breath and walked in to their room. "So you like them?"

Anna looked up with tears in her eyes. "Their beautiful." She whispered.

"Aww baby, come here." Elsa wrapped the girl in her arms.

"I can't wait." Anna mumbled into the blonds chest.

"Neither can I." Elsa whispered back.

After what felt like years Anna had finally finished planning everything. The only thing left to do was wait. And that was even worse. The days felt like weeks and the hours like years.

But everyday she knew time grew closer and closer. There was just something about being married that she felt would change their relationship. Change their lives. They would be together, really together. Even to those she would never know. And she was happy about that. Happy she had someone to come home to everyday, happy that she knew no matter what happened Elsa would love her.

And as the blond healed and the days started to pick up speed everything seemed to mash together. The days became one blurred line. The girls tried not to spend to much time together and Elsa had given a strict no sex policy until the wedding night, which didn't help.

They had watched so many movies in such a short time that Anna was sure there would be nothing on Netflix from them to watch later. And November 27th was just around the corner.

Elsa ended up teaching Anna how to play Need For Speed when they ran out of movies and tv shows. But that was a bad move. Anna couldn't even be seduced away from the game. The only times she stopped playing, was to eat, sleep, or use the bathroom. But Elsa knew the feeling and it was nice to be able to relax for the first time in what felt like forever.

Olaf started coming over more often to check up on them and hang out. He and Elsa had grown quite close. They had even begun talking about going into business together. They didn't have any details so really it was just an idea. But that's how everything starts. With an idea.

Anna decided to spend the week before the wedding with her dad and Olaf, so in return Elsa saw her parents a lot. They were super excited for the wedding. Nobody besides Olaf, Elsa, Anna, and the people who made the dresses had seen them.

The days slowed and time ticked by for Elsa. She started to let her mind wander when Anna didn't call on the 25th. But she knew everything would be okay. It had to be. The wedding was just two days away. Two more days.

The rehearsal dinner on the 26th was fun and easy for everyone. It was just the families which made everything easier for Elsa. And when she saw Anna, she felt her scarred heart skip a beat. She realized just how much she had missed the fiery girl. And how much she really did love her.

"To Elsa and Anna." Olaf said raising his glass of wine. "And may the world be kind to their future."

Everyone raised a glass to his words, smiling and laughing. "And to all the adventures they may share." Elsa's mother added.

"For all the love they might give." Her dad winked at the two girls.

Anna's dad smiled at the girls, there was a slight sadness in his eyes. "And to all the hearts they might touch with their beautiful magic."

As we inch slowly to the end, I'd just like to thank the people that have supported me through all of this. I'd also like to apologize to everyone, for taking so long with these updates. I've been working hard on The Sound of Winter and trying to get through life. But thank you for sticking it out! You all are amazing and beautiful people. And to be honest, I wish it didn't have to end. I wish it could go on forever. So thank you, for building this story what it is today.
