There is a major difference to acting sick and being sick.

After the icee incident and the cop I actually got sick. I haven't been sick in years. What the hell.

I groaned for the thousandth time that hour. My head hurt. My limbs were weak noodles. My vision was doing some weird shit by clearing up and going blurry.

What's even weird is my teeth hurt. I ran my tongue over the top row. They tingled like novicain wearing off after a horrid trip to the dentist.

"Sis how are ya feeling?" Aries popped back into my room.

Clearly I haven't moved at all from the first time he checked on me an hour ago so I wasn't doing bad but not good either. I was sprawled out under the covers on my stomach with my face buried under the pillows.

"Don't hit me. I'm just taking your temperature." Aries cautioned me as the ear thermometer was jabbed into the canal.

He gets hit because his bedside manners suck. not like I'm great at it but still, he's the nice one.

"OW." I grumbled waiting for the beep to go off.

It eventually did.

"So what is it?"

Aries didn't answer right away.

"It says 78 Degrees."

"Is that even possible?" I'd have to look later online.

"No idea but I think I'm moving the space heater in here."

I grunted as he went searching.

Pushing myself off my stomach onto my back groaning again. This really sucks.

Aries returned with our cute portable heater. It was those kind that could plug into an outlet or run off batteries. It was amazing.

He plugged it in and it hummed to life.

"I can stay home. I don't have to go to school." He said.

"Go. Ill survive here. S'not like I'll do much anyways."

He sighed. "Just don't die okay."

I snorted. "I promise nothing."

He laughed. "Laters Mira."

I grunted. He was locking the door by the time the warmth of the heater lured me back to sleep.

"Food."

Its beady red eyes stared hungrily at mine then it hissed, looking passed me. The bloodsucker in haste pulled Ari from my hands then let go of the edge quickly wrapping its cold hand around my arm trying to pull me down too.

I was yanked backwards out of the dead man's grasp into the embrace of the stranger. The stranger then rolled us off of the unstable platform seconds before it collapsed.

"ARI!" I yelled trying to get free. No answer. "ARIANNAH!" Nothing.

"I got one." The stranger said.

"What about the other?" A voice replied out of nowhere.

"Didn't make it." He replied quietly.

I closed my eyes.

I didn't want to see anymore but I heard hissing. Something cold and slimy touched my leg.

I opened them.

Snakes. Everywhere.

A particular black snake slithered over to us. I peered behind me to the stranger. His face was concealed by my limited memory, but he appeared to be frozen along with the rest of the memory. It was just me and the predator.

Its black tongue tasted the air curling up on itself to face me eye to eye.

I stared at it in its beady black eyes. It didn't feel in danger. It was more curious than anything.

Hesitantly I reached a hand out to it. Like I was waiting for a dog to sniff me to show that I wasn't a threat.

It moved towards my hand and slithered up my arm curling itself around.

"Medusa."

The snake rubbed the side of its head against mine.

That's a good sign.

Medusa the slithered down my other arm and disappeared along with the other snakes.

Before she went she looked at me then at the arm of my captor.

"What?"

The snake opened its mouth then closed it.

"I have to . . bite him?"

I looked at the pale arm then back to the snake. It was gone.

Great.

The memory played freely now.

I struggled against the strangers grasp but he wouldn't let go.

I needed to go get Aries. We needed to leave before child services arrived.

"Knock it off kid." The stranger grumbled. I caught a flash of pink.

What the hell. Who has pink eyes?

"Lemme go!" I struggled harder but he was too strong.

"Dammit kid stop!" He growled griping me with his other arm.

His coat had been singed off leaving the pale flesh exposed.

Guess what I did.

He yelled out. "Goddamn it you little shit!"

He released me. "You bit me!" he yelled.

I took off into the night.

Mathias woke up.

He rolled over to look at the clock on the nightstand.

9:58 A.M.

Gods. He'd barely slept for two hours.

And considering what Reynard had in plan in the next few hours he really needed to sleep.

He settled onto his back staring at the ceiling contemplating the past.

The scar on the outside of his thumb began to throb.

He rubbed it. He could feel the raised scar tissue where her teeth had latched onto him.

He remembered that assignment. It was supposed to be a simple extraction. Get in and get out. But somehow the suckers beat the Order there.

Back then the traitor was unknown. But in recent events it was revealed that the Red Queen Anna had been the one supplying information to Serje. Now both of them were dead.

So many Svetocha lost.

He thought back to the little girl. He only remembered her shrill screams and vivid purple eyes.

He looked at the scar again.

Then rolled over and closed his eyes. Still thinking about the purple eyed girl.

After school Aries dropped by the local Supermarket. He figured Arista would be hungry by then.

He grabbed several cans of tomato soup, a lot of grape Gatorades, some Naruto manga's for himself and proceeded to the checkout line.

Someone came out of the corner and shoulder checked him.

Aries wasn't some tiny guy. He was a like a linebacker. But the other guy was way stronger causing Aries to lose balance and fall.

He hit the back of his head and laid there for a moment waiting for his vision to return.

"I told you this was a stupid plan." A female voice murmured.

A male chuckled. "Oops." He didn't sound sorry only amused.

Aries groaned sitting up rubbing his head.

"What the hell man? You got some shoulder I will give you that." He grumbled staring at the people.

The blonde chuckled. "I didn't mean to send you to your ass." He held out his hand.

Aries took it. He was surprised that he was lifted so easily. "Whoa, monster strength."

The blonde shrugged. He was a few inches shy of Aries 6 ft. 3 ins. His hair was wavy golden blonde and he had some seriously weird eyes. To blue to be true. Maybe contacts. And his build didn't suggest he was a slouch when it came to fitness, Aries shoulder still throbbed to attest to that.

The girl next to him said hello.

She must be the same height as Arista. She had darker blue eyes than her friend, but they were warmer than the icy chill Blondie gave off. She was a tad bit weedy but not to weedy.

"Hi." Aries answered.

"I'm Dru. This is Chris." She held his basket out to him with everything put back into it. "You dropped it when you fell."

Aries took it. "Thanks. Look I have to be going. My sis is sick. Laters." He walked off to the check out. Paid then left with his groceries as soon as possible. Those people seemed normal but gave him the willies.

"The tracer is in the book right?" Chris asked.

Dru rolled her eyes. "Yep. Even though you are really stupid."

"But my plan worked didn't it?'

She sighed. "At least you and creepy found that flash drive. Otherwise we would still have jack and shit to go off of. " Dru picked up some cosmic brownies and went to the checkout.

"Seriously?" Christophe grinned. Dru rolled her eyes.

"Well your plans take forever and I get hungry. So I'm prepared now."

She paid and they walked towards the dark suburban parked off to the side of Main Street.

The doors opened. Sweet brownies Dibs cheered reaching for the box.

"Back off mine!" Dibs flinched away. Dru winced. "Sorry here." She handed him a package and Shanks one also. "Thanks." Dibs mumbled. "Thank Dru girl." shanks ate his in two bites.

Dru looked at the box thinking she should have bought more.

"Dru where are we going?" Christophe slid into the driver's seat. The passenger was open for her.

Shanks had the gps. South of here then turn left on Silva Road.

Chris pulled off from the side following the brother.
