Sorry it's taken me so long to update this but I hope this chapter makes up for it!
High School – Freshman Year – Spring Break
"This sucks."
"Lanie, it's not that bad," Kate sighed as they waited for Castle's bus to come in for Spring Break.
"Oh really? My boyfriend went down to Florida, Kevin is in Ireland, and I'm about to spend my whole week as the third wheel because my tits are too big to keep doing ballet. Now tell me, again how it's not that bad."
"Uh…"
"Exactly," Lanie said, crossing her arms over her expanded chest. "Now shut up and go kiss your boy hello."
"Huh?" Kate turned just as Castle's bus parked and the front door, opened, the boy himself jumping out and surprising both girls as he kissed the ground. "Castle?" she asked, approaching him. The boy paused and looked up, his eyes wide and lips still pursed.
"I can explain," he said. Kate raised an eyebrow at that and he immediately got to his feet, embracing her. "But first, how is my girl?"
Kate giggled, kissing his lips soundly. "She'd good," she said as she pulled back.
"And so is her best friend; the third wheel," Lanie added, from a couple feet away. Castle beamed, immediately scooping the incredibly short girl into his arms and spinning her around, making Lanie squeal.
"Put me down, fool!" she exclaimed, laughing. Castle placed her gently on the ground, squeezing her in one last hug, before turning back to his girlfriend.
"Where are the boys?" he asked.
"Javi is in Florida; Kevin is visiting family in Dublin. It's just us this week," Kate informed him.
"That's alright," Castle said, wrapping his arm around her shoulder, before pulling Lanie in against his chest. "It'll just be me and my girls this week, then. So what do you want to do first, ladies? Video game marathon, laser tag battle, horror movie marathon?"
"I need to get my nails done," Lanie sighed.
Kate nodded in agreement. "I need to get my eyebrows waxed."
"Spa day?" Lanie asked, looking at her friend. Kate nodded and grinned. Both girls looked at Castle, who sighed, before grinning.
"Why not?" he agreed. "I mean, how bad could it be?"
"SWEET MOTHER OF—"
Lanie and Kate shared a look as they watched Castle get his eyebrows waxed. His face was scrunched up in pain, despite the woman's insistence that he remain relaxed. His nails were digging into the arm rests of his chair. Kate rolled her eyes.
"Guys are such babies," she sighed. Lanie nodded, cucumbers covering her own eyes as she reveled in her mud mask.
"You got that right," she said. "Javi complains every time I bring him here."
"You bring Javi here?" It was Castle who asked this. Lanie grinned.
"Mmhmm," she said. "Every two weeks to get his eyebrows done."
"Ooh," the woman doing Castle's eyebrows, named Lynne, said, "that boy's eyebrows are like caterpillars. Big and fuzzy, every time he comes here."
"They're gonna be even bigger and fuzzier when he gets back," Lanie said, "cuz he's missing his appointment this week." Lynne shook her head, tutting as she pulled the strip from Castle's brow, making him cry out in pain.
"Shame," she said, simply, before putting the wax away. "You're done, sir," she said. "Go get a mask like the girls and relax, for goodness sake."
Castle pouted and stood, making his way over to the girls, taking a seat next to his girlfriend. Kate reached over and squeezed his hand, making him smile.
"You two better stop making goo-goo eyes at each other or imma slap you both upside your heads." Kate rolled her eyes and let go of his hand.
"Sorry, Lanie," she said, laughingly.
"I'm not," Castle teased.
"You're first," Lanie replied. "After my nap."
"I thought this stuff was supposed to relax you," Castle whispered.
"Oh, it's very relaxing," a young woman replied, stepping in front of him. "Just relax your face…"
"Wait," Castle said before she could wipe any of the grayish goop on his face. "Is this stuff gonna burn?"
"Uh…no," the girl said. Castle nodded, relaxing his shoulders.
"Proceed," he said and the girl shared a look with Kate.
"He's…" Kate didn't even finish, allowing the shrug of her shoulders to speak for her. The girl just nodded, continuing to cover his face with the goop, before placing two cucumbers over his eyes.
Castle let out a deep breath. "You know," he said, "I must admit; I am feeling very relaxed."
"Good," Kate said, "because next you get to experience leg waxing."
Immediately, Castle's face dropped.
"And now I'm tense."
Kate giggled, shaking her head as she relaxed back into her seat.
