Sorry this is so late guys but I've not been feeling my best tonight. I'm kind of exhausted right now. This might be short (that's what she said). Enjoy!

Kevin's got a Girlfriend

The second he walked into Remy's the following afternoon for lunch, Kevin was practically assaulted by his two best friends.

"So what happened?" Javi asked, flanking him on one side.

"Yeah," Castle added, following suit. "Did she like it? Are you two in love now? Is she your girlfriend?"

Kevin rolled his eyes, shaking them off. "Would you guys knock it off," he growled, making his way towards the table where Kate and Lanie were already sitting and talking among themselves. He couldn't hide his grin, however, as the memory of last night's kiss fluttered through his mind. He wasn't even quick enough to hide it from the girls as he sat down and they leaned towards him, eyes bright and smiles wide, not uttering a single word, but he knew what they wanted.

"We kissed," he told them and the girls gasped, their entire faces lighting up with pure, unadulterated joy as they hugged each other.

"And…" Kate prodded.

Kevin shrugged. "And nothing," the boy replied. "That's it. I took her to get a burger, then to the movies, and then I walked her home."

"Where she kissed you?" Lanie asked. Kevin nodded, blushing profusely and the girls let out tiny little squeaks of happiness, reaching across the table to pull him into their arms, squeezing the daylights out of him.

"Can't…breathe…!" Kevin choked and they immediately let go, Lanie reaching out to pinch his cheek.

"Our little boy is growin' up and kissin' girls!" she exclaimed, her face alight with happiness. Kevin's face reddened further.

"Good grief," he groaned, shaking his head and burying his face in his hands.

Kate laughed and took pity on him. "Okay, okay," she said, "enough teasing; is there going to be a second date?"

"I dunno," he answered with a sigh. "I mean, we didn't talk about having one but…she kissed me; that's gotta mean something, right?" The girls nodded enthusiastically. "Okay, so how long should I wait to call her? Javi says three days."

Lanie snorted. "If only he'd have waited three damn minutes to call me after our first date," she said. "I was barely in the door when I got the call: 'Hola, chica. You wanna do that again sometime?' Good lord!" Kate and Kevin snickered at that as the boy in question walked up to the table, Castle on his heels.

"What'd we miss?" he asked, causing the three of them to snicker in unison. "What?!" he asked, feeling left out.

"Nothing, baby," Lanie replied, winking at Kevin. "Our boy here was just telling us about his first kiss."

"She kissed you?" Javi asked, no small amount of surprise lacing his words. "Go Kevin!" He gave the boy a high-five and a clap on the cheek. "So does this mean she's your girlfriend now?"

Kevin shrugged. "Maybe," he said, not really wanting to label it after just one date. Castle's grin spread evilly across his face.

"You know what that means now, don't you?" he asked Javi, winking. Javi nodded and, like a chorus, the boys started singing:

"KEVIN'S GOT A GIRLFRIEND! KEVIN'S GOT A GIRLFRIEND!"

at the top of their lungs, while the boy sunk into the booth, imploring the girls, with his eyes, to help.

Instead they joined in.

"KEVIN'S GOT A GIRLFRIEND! KEVIN'S GOT A GIRLFRIEND! KEVIN'S GOT A GIRLFRIEND!"

They continued the sing-song until the boy was practically invisible, the red of his face matching the leather seats, his brow furrowed in annoyance.

"Gee, thanks guys; that's not embarrassing at all," he growled, sarcastically. Kate laughed and pulled him towards her in the round booth, hugging him tightly.

"We're just teasing you, Kev," she said. "You know you'd do the same if it was one of us. Hell, you did do the same when you found out about me and Castle."

"Castle and me," Rick corrected.

"Shut up or I'll break your neck," Kate replied to her boyfriend.

"Love you too, honey," Castle said. Kate rolled her eyes and turned back to Kevin.

"We're all really happy for you, Kevin, okay?" she pressed a kiss to his cheek. "Our little baby is growing up so much!" she teased and he batted her away, laughing.

"Thanks, Kate," he said. "That means a lot."

She just smiled and pressed another kiss to his cheek, before elbowing Javi, who was now carrying a solo chant, in the side.

"Shut it, pea brain," she said. He stuck his tongue out at her and she made a face back, while Kevin watched, laughing and shaking his head.

His friends were embarrassing, sure, but he wouldn't trade them for anything in the world.

I'm going to sleep! REVIEW please!

Also, reminded that this is not a timeline they'd actually would have been kids in. This is very much 21st century AU (which I have explained previously) otherwise their ages would all be dramatically different (Castle and Beckett being about a decade apart).
