I totally thought I posted this chapter a while ago, but apparently I didn't & I'm sorry about that!

Chapter 7:

(Mason P.O.V)

"Rose, can you hide the key here?" Eddie asked, handing Rose the key to Mia's creepy room. "I think it's the safest here."

All Rose did was nod her head and put the key in her pocket. Sitting on Rose's and Dimitri's bed, I listened carefully to what the others are talking about. It has something to do with their next move and if they found out any new information about the situation.

Iknow Mia is helping Robert and his minions break free from the holding cells and escape court, but how am I going to warn my friends when they can't see or hear me? We all know she is going to find out sooner or later that her key is missing and go looking for it.

What the other don't know is that I deleted the footage off Mia's security cameras; the ones with Eddie and Christian in it, so she doesn't know who stole it. I'm here to help my friends even if that means deleting footage or spying on people. I'll do whatever it takes to keep them safe.

I should probably mention that it's Friday the eleventh meaning that kids at the academies who live here at court are coming home tomorrow and aren't going back to school until Monday the twenty first. The day after Easter which no one is really focused on right now with the trial and everything else that's going on.

Having a bunch of kids running around is going to very difficult on all of us. I mean we already have enough on our shoulders; we don't need more people coming and going as it is. But, I guess it isn't my call. Maybe, we could use this holiday and hope all this will go away afterwards.

"…looking for her key none stop," Christian said, looking around the circle we formed on the bed. "We have to figure out another way to Mia and her father out of their apartment, so we can go in and take a look arou-"

"We don't need to 'take a look around,'" Rose interrupted. "We need to bag everything that's in her creepy room and bring back here, so we can lock it up in mine and Dimitri's safe."

"Rose is right," I said, but no one heard me of course. "We need to bag everything up and lock it away until we can use that against Mia…" I trailed off.

The only way to get Mia locked up for what she is doing or going to do is to reveal that evidence to Lissa and the council. So far, no one knows what's Mia is planning and/or what she does on her spare time because she lies and makes people think differently of her. That or they're too busy worrying about the trial and what's going to happen during and after.

"When need to get in there soon before the trail, so we have time to look it all over and make sure Mia gets locked up for her crimes," Eddie said, speaking my thoughts.

We might be two different people on the outside with two different pasts, but inside we're one. We both have the same goal: Protect the loves you love at all cost. Eddie needs me just as much as I need him. I don't think I'm going to be able to move on from this. From the world where my family and friends are; from the world where I grew up in. This is my home; I can't just pack up and leave everything and everyone behind.

I can't. I won't.

Shaking my head, I looked around the room for something I can write on. I might not be able to communicate with them through my mouth, but I can write it down on a piece of paper for them all to see. Not knowing if this is going to work, I grabbed a note book and pen from a dresser and sat back down on the bed.

There were gasps that were soon followed by silence as they all stopped what they're doing to look at me or really the note book and pen in my hands. It's not every day that you see objects flowing in the air. Yes, some Moroi can wield the element air, but it's forbid to use magic freely and in the open.

Taking the cap off the pen, I started to write on the paper. My hand felt weird holding the pen because it's been years since I last wrote anything. I didn't really know where to begin, so I wrote "This is Mason" in big letters for them to see.

"Prove that you're really Mason," Eddie said, glaring at me from the side. "Tell us something only Mason knows."

Something I only know about all of you or just one of you? Honestly, I don't really know anything about Christian or Dimitri. I know Christian's parents turned themselves into Strigoi when he was little and that Dimitri is a God, but everyone knows that. I don't recall having a conversation with either of them. I mean I know some things about them that everyone knows too.

As to Rose who is still a mystery waiting to be solved. I know the basic stuff about her and that she can't fully make up her mind on anything. It's hard to get inside that head of hers, but once you do; I bet there's a lot people don't know about her. Rose, for once, wants to come first; needs people to love and protect her instead of the other way around. What she doesn't understand is that her family and friends do love her and will protect her from all harm.

Unlike the others, I know Eddie from the inside out. His flaws. His weaknesses. His fears. His strengths. You name it, I know it. No one knows that he has a bad right knee. He can walk on it with no problem at all, but when it comes to running or fighting it starts hurting and I usually cover for him when it does. I know he's afraid of getting close to his father; the fear of letting the one person who had and still has a huge impact on him into his life.

The real question is…what do I know about them that no one else knows? They all are afraid of letting people in that's not their close friends or family. All afraid of getting hurt. Tired of being betrayed or let down. Hate feeling that emptiness inside when someone they're close to dies or leaves them. They're afraid of new people, period. It might not seem like it on the outside, but inside it's killing them. It might not even make sense, but it's the truth.

Flipping to a new page, I wrote "You're all afraid of letting new people into your lives that aren't your close friends and family." I have no idea if I got it right or not with all the wondering eyes and low heads. I'm one hundred percent sure that's it true. Yes, some people have a bad time with making friends or meeting new people, but it's nothing compared to my friends.

My friends will talk to you and hopefully be nice about it too, but in the end you're not someone they will call a friend or someone they will enjoy spending time with. You're just a person that they will tolerate because…because they have to. Like some of the people at court, they will talk to them and work with them, but they will not get close to them.

"I have to agree with Mason," Dimitri said, breaking the silence. "We do have a problem with letting people get close to us, but that's the least of our concerns right now."

"He's right," I wrote down on the paper. "We need to find out Mia's next move before we start making plans about getting her and her dad out of their apartment, so we can sneak in."

"I can ask Lissa when the trial is taking place," Christian suggested, shrugging his shoulders. "Hopefully, she gives me the answers we need without asking a lot of questions."

"Here's the plan," Rose said after a while. "Christian, you and Eddie try to gather as much information about the trial and whatever else you can find while Mason, Dimitri and I figure out a way to get Mia and her father out of their apartment long enough for us to sneak in without raising attention."

Everyone in the circle nodded their heads in agreement and started to pass around different ideas. Eddie offered to ask his father for access to the footages on the security cameras in the holding cells; the ones with Mia talking to Robert. Dimitri shook his head at Eddie, saying, it would raise suspension and we can't have people asking us a million questions.

I can still peak in and out of Robert's spirit dreams and keep spying on Mia, but I still feel like I should do more than spy on people. Maybe, I can go in Mia's creepy room and bag everything up since I just found out that I can touch solid objects. I bet she doesn't have security cameras in there; too afraid someone might see them.

With that, we all set out on the same mission: to take down the enemy before they take us down first.

(Mia P.O.V)

As I walked down the hallway toward Queen Vasilissa's suit, I replayed my plan in my head. There will, of course, be guardians outside her door who won't let me in if I pose a threat or don't belong there. But, since my job at court is delivering messages, I guess they will have to let me in especially if the message is extremely important. Laughing to myself, I rolled my pretty, blue eyes. I always get excited when my plans are about to take action.

Coming to the door, I showed the guardians standing there the elope I'm holding in my hand with Lissa's name on it. "I'm order to personally give this to Queen Vasilissa. It's important."

One of the guardians nodded and I opened the door to the suit. Once I was inside, I shut the door behind me. Lissa's suit is fairly larger than my tiny apartment. With its elaborate furnisher and huge, fluffy rugs that cover most of the rich, wooden floors. I mean Rose's family apartment is pretty big and really nice, but it's nothing compared to Lissa's.

"Christian is that you?" a sweet Angel voice called from down the hallway. Lissa.

It seems she is alone, beside the guardians standing outside. Smiling, I walked down the hallway toward hers and Christian's bedroom. Sitting on her overstuffed bed is the one person who took everything away from me. The person who is going to pay for what she did to me. Shock filled her face when she noticed me standing in the doorway with a smile on my face.

"Oh," is all she could say, like she didn't expect to see me in here.

Holding out my hand, I said in my politest voice, "I'm here to give you an envelope that I was ordered to give you personally."

"Thank you," Lissa said, standing up and taking the envelope from me.

She set it down on her bed instead of opening it and turned toward me. I, of course, came here on a mission; not to have a chat with my enemy. I need to get a hold of Lissa's necklaces without her noticing. Before either of us could say another word, there was a knock at the door. Lissa left me in her bedroom alone while she answered the door.

Bad move, Lissa. Bad move.
