Chapter 93

Yusei turned when the door opened and Jack walked in and glanced around the room. The small room was dimly lit by an overhead light bulb that hung from the ceiling. In the center of the room was an oval shaped table with three chairs. Yusei and Kaz were sitting across from Bruno. It was apparent to Jack, when he came in Bruno was a little out of it and pale.

"What's happened to you?" Jack asked Bruno, once Jack sat down next to Yusei.

"Why can't you guys leave me alone?" Bruno muttered, not make eye contact with Jack, Yusei, and Kaz.

"I just want to understand why you don't want anything to do with us anymore? Primo is in juvenile prison... and Lester is with Children's Services," Yusei finally spoke up, not liking to have to put Bruno under a lot of pressure. Yusei had hoped, when Kaz found Bruno living in an abandoned building, that Bruno would be happy he was free from Primo and Lester, not looking pale and out of it because he had no family left. "So you don't have to worry about them. Plus, you have a home with us."

"A home?" Bruno echoed, his voice laced with malice, finally looking up at Yusei. "I didn't belong to you guys!"

Yusei frowned when he saw hate for the first time in Bruno's motionless eyes. "I don't understand ... what did I do to make you mad?"

"Taking me away from my family that I have ever known." that statement shocked everyone.

Anger and confusion flashed across Yusei's face. "That doesn't make any sense, Bruno! Primo tried to suppress you from connecting with the outside world! That's no way to live!"

"He's right," Kaz prompted, "what Primo was doing to you and Lester was not just ... but also illegal."

"Can I go now?" Bruno muttered, dropping his gaze to his lap, feeling a rush of anxiety. His legs started to shake up and down, and he looked like he was going to throw up.

Kaz was the first to notice the change in Bruno's body language. "Do you need some air?" As soon as Kaz suggested that, Bruno got up, his chair falling back as he went straight to the door. Kaz was the first to go after Bruno and found him in the men's restroom splashing water on his face. A few moments later, Yusei and Jack came in.

Bruno sighed, knowing that Yusei wasn't the type to give up on someone. He turned off the tap and faced Yusei, Jack, and Kaz, water dripping off his chin. "I'll stay with Sherry …"

"Would that be better for you?" Yusei asked, hoping that Bruno wasn't going to cut ties with him. Bruno nodded his head and watched Yusei pull out his cell phone and texted Akiza about the latest development. A moment later Akiza replied back, saying that Sherry will pick up Bruno when her shift was over.

"I'll look after Bruno until Sherry gets here," Kaz suggested, opening the door and escorted everyone out of the restroom to the front door. "And get some rest, Yusei. You don't look so good."

Jack nodded his head and turned Yusei around and guided him to their Motorcycles. Their vehicles were parked in a public parking garage, near a wall. Yusei leaned against the wall and slid to the pavement wrapping his arms around his kneecaps. Jack sighed and sat next to Yusei and rubbed his back.

"Let it go, Yusei," Jack advised, helping his boyfriend up, "I don't think we did anything wrong with helping Bruno out."

Yusei nodded his head and mounted onto his motorcycle and followed Jack back to Jack's condo. When they arrived, Yusei got a text from an unnown number. Yusei merely dropped his cell phone after he read the text.

"What's up?" Jack asked mounting off his motorcycle.

"It's a text from Bruno himself," Yusei said, a little surprised himself. "He was just apologizing for his behavior …"

"And …" Jack pressured when he heard the hesitation in Yusei's voice.

Yusei sighed. "I didn't mean to hurt you Yusei," Yusei started to read, "It's going to be different now, that's all." Yusei paused before he continued to read, scrolling down the screen with his thumb, "And if I stay …. I might make things uncomfortable because I also LIKED you, but I know I can't have you because you are with Jack …. and it would make more sense if we don't live with each other. I hope you understand. And I need help finding out why I have amnesia and Sherry is going to help me."

"I forgot all about that," Jack shrugged, making his way inside.

Yusei sighed and texted Bruno back before he followed Jack inside. Yusei made his way into the room he shared with Jack and closed the door. A few moments later Jack came in to see Yusei laying on his side sleeping under the covers, and Yusei's cell phone charging on the nightstand. Jack quietly closed the door and made his way to the nightstand. Jack saw that there were a few texts that Yusei reserved, but Jack wasn't going read them - knowing that Yusei would share them eventually. Jack glanced at Yusei and decided to join him in bed. Yusei shifted and turned when Jack pulled the covers back and laid next Yusei, pulling each other close.
