I'm sorry for the major delay! Well... I have two reasons! One, my year level (a three person group of 8th grade students) had to compete in a written math contest against about more than 20 schools. Good news, we were the CHAMPIONS! Second reason, just this morning, we had an oral math contest with only me and one of my partners to compete, this time, against 14 other schools. Guess what? WE'RE THE CHAMPIONS AGAIN! XD YAY! 2 victories in a row! YAY!
Sorry for the outburst there. I'm just so happy... (;'3)
This is going to be the 9th chapter of my story "Career, Love, and Family" so I hope that you'll find it satisfactory for the time being. This is the continuation of Akatsuki's flashback...
Finally finding his phone, Akatsuki sat on the bed and dialed his lover's number. He had promised Zero that he'll call once he arrives at his father's place and right now was just the time to give the silverette a call.
Prr... prr...
The phone kept on ringing for another 3 seconds before Zero picked up.
"Hello Akatsuki." Zero smiled on the other end of the line. When he looked at who was calling on his phone, he felt a gush of happiness inside of him.
"Haha. Hey there beautiful." Akatsuki cooed. Man, just hearing his lover's voice sent comforting vibes in him, making his often tensed form feel all jelly-like all of a sudden. The silverette blushed when he heard Akatsuki say such an embarrassing line.
"I'm not beautiful. Haha." Zero laughed nervously. He rubbed the back of his neck in embarrassment as he felt butterflies inside his stomach. Zero then thought of something that might cause Akatsuki to blush. "Dear tummy, I'm sorry about the butterflies. It's not my fault, it's his."
Blush. Hearing that statement from Zero made Akatsuki feel a pang of happiness strike his heart. That was too adorable is what he was thinking. He didn't even know that he was actually blushing like crazy due to Zero's words. He couldn't even believe that he had laid down on the bed and sheathed his eyes with his arm.
"Zero, you're being too cute right now." He admitted, getting a little bit of his composure back and laying the arm, that was covering his eyes, at his side.
"Oh, so from beautiful, I became cute?" Zero asked, teasingly. Calls with Akatsuki had always calmed and relaxed him. It was like talking to someone he knew and loved for a long time.
"Haha. You are everything that relates to the word 'beauty' actually. You're cute, pretty, beautiful, handsome, gorgeous..." Before Akatsuki could trail on with several other words, Zero shushed him because the silverette couldn't bear to hear all those words of flattery from his lover. It made his heart beat faster.
"Enough of that." Zero blushed on the other end of the line, lucky that Akatsuki can't see him right now. If he did, the tan might tease him for his blush-y kind of cuteness. "So, how are things going with your father?"
"Well... strange but normal, I guess."
"Eh?" The phrase 'strange but normal' was never really an okay kind of response to the silverette.
"You know, he just ushered me in after that 'father and son reunion' stuff and here I am, in the guest room." Akatsuki laughed into the phone lightly.
"Guest room huh?"
"Yeah, pretty much."
"Haha."
There was a momentary silence among the two for a while.
"So..."
"So..."
Both said in unison.
"I just remembered that I needed to go on an errand! Let's chat again later alright?" Zero said, remembering that he needed to buy some groceries for tonight's, once again, lonely dinner.
"Alright." The tan smiled into the phone. "I love you, Zero." Akatsuki couldn't help but chuckle when he knew what Zero's reaction would be whenever he said that.
"I l-love you t-too, Akatsuki." The silverette stuttered, feeling a gush of heat rush up to his cheeks that made him jolt a little. A small laugh was the last thing Akatsuki sounded as they both hung up.
Akatsuki still had his phone held up to his ear even though his call with Zero was just a few minutes ago. He sheathed his eyes again with his arm, heaving a tired and lonely sigh. All of his train of thought went straight to Zero. He was thinking about what is Zero doing right now, what errand he was tasking out, what he was wearing, if he really did miss Akatsuki or not, or did Zero buy an orange-furred dog and named it Akatsuki because of his loneliness. Those were just random question that popped up in the tan's mind and all were related as to how Zero was feeling or perhaps something else that's off-topic.
Then, Akatsuki heard a knock at the door.
"Yeah?" He answered and slowly did the door open to reveal his father's head popping in.
"Akatsuki, do you need anything?" What was with that? Suddenly showing up like that and just asking him if he needed anything... Akatsuki's beginning to grow suspicious of his father. Had he been eavesdropping while he was on the phone with Zero?
"Nothing at the moment, father."
"Well, if you do, don't hesitate to ask me or any of the servants around here, alright?" There was silence. "What happened in here?" Both of the Kain's eyes were trailing to the several piles of clothes, books, and other things that were scattered on the floor. Akatsuki rubbed his neck in a frustrated manner. He should have cleaned up right after that call with Zero. "Well, be sure to clean up."
"Yes, father." After having said that, the door clicked shut and the tan couldn't help but have his gaze linger there for a few moments. Thoughts rushed into his head. Akatsuki remembered that his father hated knowing that the tan had gone into a romantic relationship with someone not of his father's choice. However, that was in the past. Surely his father isn't still into that kind of thing right?
Shrugging the thought off, Akatsuki got off of bed and tidied up a little as his father had noticed. He grabbed several of his, now fully-wrinkled, polo shirts and folded them along with his pants, storing them into the room's cabinet before picking up the other things he had thrown about.
"I think I should go and take a shower." That being said, Akatsuki grabbed a pair of pajamas, his hygiene supplies, and went into the bathroom.
Somewhere along the deep hallways of the mansion, Akatsuki's father was talking on the phone.
"Yes. i'll definitely try and persuade my son to marry you. Don't worry about it Ms. Souen."
"I hope that you will fulfill your word. I'm getting sick of this pretend-relationship with this pure blood Kaname Kuran." Said the woman on the other line.
"Yes ma'am. You're the perfect choice for my son and I hope that you will support our family when you already have him?"
"Yes. Indeed I will."
"Very well. If I may ask, why do you want my son when you already have pure blood-sama?"
"Well, Kaname just plays around with women and depends too much on them. He's a rich yet homeless bastard. That's why I want to get rid of him."
"I see."
"Besides, your son is somewhat of my tastes in men, handsome and young. This is an opportunity to your family is it not, Lord Kain?"
"It is a very good opportunity Ms. Souen."
"If that's clear for you then don't let it slip away. Until then... Lord Kain." The other end of the line went dead as the woman that Akatsuki's father was talking to hung up.
Oh my god! This is the antagonist that starred in Kaname's past and meaningless relationship, and Akatsuki's reason why he and Zero broke up! I really hate Ruka to be honest. I'M SORRY IF YOU DISAGREE WITH ME! BUT, all in all, I love only the guyz anyway!
