A second Chance
This story may or may not be a one shot. I need to figure out as I write. This story starts right after Sam`s promises of doing everything to make them work. He wants' to take out her trash, walk the dog she don`t have and cook her dinner.
Andy sais it's too late. Sais, she can`t do it anymore and that he made his choice 6 weeks ago, when he dumped her in the freaking parking lot. In the rain.
Will Andy change her mind?
Sam was in front of her in a blink.
So afraid that she would slip out from the light hold he had on her arms, he looked her straight in her big brown eyes, that was now filled with sadness, anger, disappoint (love?).
"Andy, please, I am begging you". He really was. He was seconds away from getting down on his knees, but knew she hated that kind of stuff.
"Sam".
"Just...can we at least start with a drink? I`ll be at the penny". He said, pleading her to come. He looked her in her eyes one last time. Just to let her know that this was serious. He meant what he said. Every fucking word.
Then he was gone.
And, she was still standing there. It was like she couldn`t move a muscle. Was it because he had almost convinced her to actually show up? She didn`t quite know. She needed to get out of this place. Wanted to go home. Take a hot shower, cleanse away the day and all it`s bad.
Once completely undressed, Andy stepped into the hot spray of her shower, ran her hands through her hair, making sure every piece of her hair were soaked before she put shampoo in it.
It was almost like her feet was jelly. She was so tired and drained from this crappy day, that she had to lean her body against the cold, wet tiles in the shower. Made her skin act up goose bumps as if someone had poured cold water on her.
A few minutes later, convinced that she was clean, and free from everything that had happened during the day, she covered herself in a big fluffy towel before she padded into her bedroom, leaving wet footprints across the hardwood floor.
It wasn`t until then she decided if she was going to show up at the penny or not.
A part of her said no. He hurt her once, why wouldn`t he do it again? He left when life hit him straight in the fucking face. Why would she put herself through that again? And what happens the next time life happens?
She used to love him though. Loved, love... Always had, always would she thought as she pulled her pants all the way up.
They were so good together, passionate, great sex. They were a team. But toy couldn`t base a relationship on amazing sex. She needed - wanted honesty, conversations, feelings, thoughts and completely utterly sincerity.
She wanted to know him. Like really know him. Good and bad, crappy and outrageous. All that he was.
But, she was so hesitant. Why would he change this time? what made it different from last time around? Maybe they didn`t work for a million reasons?
She just needed to think about herself for a change.
He kept staring down his soon empty glass of scotch. The chair next to him was empty, and the drink he had bought for her was untouched. He had only been there for ten minutes, but every time the door opened and closed, with no Andy McNally walking through the door, his hope for a reconciliation and a second chance grew further and further away.
An hour later, he realized - she was not coming. He had watched that door open so many times the last hour and a half, that he decided to give up.
He paid for the drinks, grabbed his jacket and got up from the chair.
As he turned around, he looked straight into a pair of big, brown and beautiful eyes. The anger and disappoint he had seen at the station, seemed to have decreased. Now? He could almost see some of the sparkle and shine she once had in her eyes. And there was the tiniest, yet most beautiful smile on her face.
He couldn`t help but return the smile. And afraid to blow the little chance he may have left, he didn`t know what to say exactly. Except, well... except something he thought might be a slim start.
"Hi", he almost whispered. "I uh... I didn`t think you would come actually. I was about to leave".
The smallest of smile she had on a minute ago, was gone. She sat down on the chair next to his.
"I was so close to not coming. I had decided not to go", she confessed to him, fidgeting with her cold fingers.
He let out a breath, that he felt he had been holding in for some time. "What, uh, made you change your mind then?". He moved his chair so he was facing her. He wanted so bad to touch her. Just the tiniest one, just to feel her skin. Maybe cover her hand with his, bring it up to his lips and kiss it. Kiss it all better again.
If only a kiss on her cold small, cold hand would fix every damn mistake he had made these last couple of weeks (months, days, years?).
"I`m not really sure to be honest... I uh, kept thinking about us... What we were, what we never were, what we might have been... what we might be one day...". She smiled at the last part. Making him smile too. Maybe the biggest smile ha had put on in over 6 weeks.
Made him grow the slightest of hopes - for him, her, them... Definitely them. Because he loved them. He loved her.
"But, I can`t do this here Sam. Not in a damn bar. If we`re going to do this... please, let`s go somewhere else".
He couldn`t have been any faster up from his chair. He slowly reached out his hand for her to take. And she did.
"Come on. Let`s get out of here", he said as he let her walk in front of him. He kept his hand on her lower back, barely touching, but still... His hand was on fire from being able to have his hand on her again. He led them out of the penny and towards his car. He opened the passenger door for her, and waited until she was inside.
"Can I take you to cherry beach?", he asked her once they were driving out from the parking lot.
"Yeah, I`d really like that", she smiled back at him.
So, what do you think? Yay or nay? Should I continue? Please rewiev! I promise longer chapters after this :)
Have a great weekend!
