A/N: Who thought it was about time I update this story? Yeah, I thought so too.

Also, shout-out to this one guy in real life who says this story sucked and then proceeded to compliment it. I appreciate your opinion, lol.

Anyways, I don't own Pokemon, because if I did, shiny hunting. That's it.

Love Happens Suddenly Chapter 17

Cupid had remained paralyzed once he recognized the figure in the distance. Bruno was shouting, telling him to shoot at her. However, no matter how many times his foxlike friend told him to, he wouldn't.

Normally, he would have done so, but she, the pokémon Bruno seemed to pine for, was the exception.

When she finally turned the corner and was out of sight, a relieved sigh escaped the Buneary's mouth.

That was a close one for the rabbit….

However, the Zoroark was silent for a minute or two before closing his eyes. However, he suddenly opened his eyes. An obvious look of anger evident that was supported by slanted eyes and a ferocious scowl. Then, the dark-type closed the somewhat small gap between him in which the rabbit slightly recoiled.

"WHY DIDN'T YOU SHOOT?!" Bruno boomed abruptly as his arms trembled, and the normal-type took a step back with a sheer terrified expression on his face.

Cupid instantly brought his paws up to his face in a defensive manner as he whispered, "I c-couldn't."

"What do you mean you couldn't?" the dark grey fox exclaimed in a seemingly calmer voice, yet the way he tightly clenched his claws hinted he was anything but calm.

The normal-type felt his body quiver in response, but in a shaky voice, he replied, "S-she's…spe-special to m-me…"

A dumbfounded expression formed on the red-haired pokémon as he took a step back.

"Oh."

"I….Please, can it be anyone b-but her?" immediately pressed the younger of the two as he daringly took a step forward. His body was shaking even more as he considered his friend's reaction.

The Zoroark had opened his mouth to respond, but shortly closed it as he examined the huddled form of his only friend; the little Buneary who called himself Cupid.

He was unsure what to say at this point.

"I…"

"Please Bruno," the Buneary continued to plea as he stared at the floor, unwilling to gaze at the older male much longer out of fear.

After a few moments of silence, a loud sigh was heard from Bruno.

"…I guess it was a little stupid to think you could help me, huh?" the bipedal fox murmured as he slid to the floor, shifting his weight onto a nearby tree in the process. The rabbit could only stare in confusion at the sudden change in his companion.

However, the dark-type only brought his claws to his face as he shut his eyes. Then, when the Buneary was sure his friend wouldn't speak for the time being, a bitter laugh escaped the foxlike pokémon's mouth.

"Ah well, I should have expected this. Love has never really worked out for me. I was always too stupid to understand it properly. It's no surprise really," Bruno admitted afterwards as he proceeded to open his eyes and stare upwards at the bright sky that was hidden by the trees.

"W-what do you mean?" Cupid asked, seemingly finding his voice again.

"What I mean is….." the dark colored fox paused as if he were thinking. "I don't want it anymore. I think I would prefer to die alone."

"What? But why do you say that?!" a bewildered Cupid questioned, frowning at his friend's response. "I thought you wanted me to help you!"

"I did, but you know what, Kid? I realized this is just going to be some stupid chase that won't end well, and I reaaaallly don't want to deal with heartbreak anymore."

"H-heartbreak? You…?"

"Yes," the Zoroark huffed, closing his eyes. "….Rosie, Kelly, and…..L-Lotus…"

The rabbit blinked in mild surprise as he placed his paw to his cheek.

"….What were they like?" he cautiously asked, hoping Bruno wouldn't snap at him in response to his question. However, he was really curious to know….

Another sigh as the dark-type fox shifted from his slumped position and sat upright.

"Rosie was sweet," The red-haired mammal started as he gave a bittersweet smile. "She was a Leavanny…and a childhood friend...I had the biggest crush on her since I can remember…She did too…but her parents didn't exactly approve."

The rabbit was about to reply when the male Zoroark started to talk once more.

"The second was Kelly," Bruno remarked, yet his tone of voice and scowl hinted he felt resentment towards her. "She was a Delphox. Very smart…She was going places, ya know? She was also really manipulative too. Still loved her, but I guess she didn't since she ended up cheating on me about 5 times."

"I'm sorry to hear," the Buneary immediately apologized as he frowned.

Yet another pained laughed from Bruno as he shook his claw in dismissal, "Nah. It…doesn't matter a-anymore."

The dark-type frowned once more as he closed his eyes.

"Lotus was last."

"A-And..?"

"Lotus was probably the one I loved the most. She was kind…and patient. A Gardevoir, and she tried her hardest to make it….work…"

Just as the rabbit thought he was done, the bipedal fox spoke, his voice melancholy, "I was bitter. Pushed her away. No matter what happened, it was her fault. It wasn't a surprise she ended up leaving me…..I still remember tears streaming down her face the night she left…"

By now, Bruno had resumed his slouching position as he pressed his claws against his face once more.

"Nonetheless, I understand your decision...and I guess I'll stand by it..." Another uncomfortable pause before the dark colored mammal spoke once more. "You can go….I won't bother you anymore."

The rabbit could only stand there as he stared at the now dejected Zoroark in the distance.

He wanted to help his friend…He wanted him to be happy, but…How could the normal-type be sure Bruno wouldn't harm her?

As of now, he didn't know him as well as he liked….But….

The Buneary pouted as he considered his options and the possible outcomes.

"Okay," Cupid began, hoping he wouldn't regret the decision he was going to make. "M-maybe…Maybe we…can work something out…"

"Hmm?"

"Well, maybe…There's another way…Y-you know…without the arrows."

However, Bruno only gave the younger male a somewhat annoyed stare before he focused his attention to a nearby tree, "I don't exactly see the point in that. This whole deal was to use your 'powers', remember?"

A feeble nod from the brown colored mammal showed he agreed, but he opened his mouth to protest, "I know…but maybe we don't need the powers…Maybe, it can…"

"Fine. I suppose we can give it a shot," his friend interjected at this point, purposefully avoiding eye contact.

Then, at the moment, the Buneary remembered something else. The plan Bruno often hinted at.

Figuring it was worth asking, the rabbit-like creature opened his mouth and inquired, "Hey….B-Bruno…You mentioned something about a plan….What was that about?"

He noticed the fox-like creature tense at his words before a slightly sheepish laugh escaped the Zoroark's mouth.

"Oh….that?"

"Uh-huh."

"Oh well….My mom…was coming to visit…She said something about…uhh…"he trailed off, looking downwards. "….Yeah."

"Oh…Um, I see."

More silence between the two followed until the older one of the males decided to speak, "So…you will?"

"Yeah….I…I guess."

At that moment, he received a smile from the dark-type.

"Thank you, Kid. It really means a lot."

"Molly?"

The Scrafty stopped pacing and tensed. That voice sounded familiar….

Carefully, she spun around to find the familiar white furred creature, Jordan.

His previous curious expression turned into one of relief upon seeing it was, indeed, her. He began to approach her hesitantly but stopped after a couple of steps.

The reptilian pokémon remained frozen, unsure what to say at the sudden appearance of the Zangoose.

He seemed different despite the fact that there was no outlandish change to him physically, but she could spot hints of fear in those light red eyes that were often beaming with pride. It was so uncharacteristic of Jordan, and the female had a feeling it had to do with her.

"….Molly?" the normal-type asked, and she barely noticed he was in front of her, fidgeting slightly with those oversized black claws she occasionally teased him about. "Are….are you still mad?"

Swallowing, she shook her head, "N-No…"

It was the truth. She hadn't been angry at him for long after their argument, and she had even considered picking up the phone when he called her….However her pride, and to a certain extent, Casey, always got in the way of her doing so.

The Zangoose held another expression of relief before giving Molly a timid smile, "Hehe…That's good."

They gazed away from one another, unsure how to continue the already difficult conversation.

"I'm sorry," Jordan suddenly murmured, and the fighting-type flinched at his sudden apology.

What was he even apologizing for?

"W-what?" she spluttered abruptly, obviously taken back by his rather abrupt apology.

"I'm sorry," he repeated in such an earnest voice that suddenly made Molly feel horrible.

"J-Jordan," The reptilian Pokémon stated, pausing as she attempted to organize her words. "You don't have to apologize….You did nothing wrong."

"Well, obviously I did if yo-"

"No," she sternly cut him off as she rested her paws on the top of his sharpened claws. "I just…."

She hesitated once more.

"Molly?"

"I…just…didn't wanna admit you were right," the Scrafty shamefully whispered. "I know it's stupid but-"

However, the female widened her eyes abruptly as she felt Jordan's rather furry face brush against her cheek in only a way she could identify as a light kiss.

The normal-type pulled away moments later and gave a silly grin, admiring the surprised expression etched on her face.

However, moments later, he returned to frowning again.

"Sorry," Was Jordan's one worded apology as he avoided making eye contact with her. "I just really missed you….I was worried you got hurt or something…"

"Oh Jordan," she replied, pouting as guilt embedded itself inside her. "I'm so sorry…I…I'll try not to act so stupid next time…"

"Mo-" Jordan began, but at the moment, a blue furred creature landed on top of him which resulted in the Zangoose collapsing onto the floor.

The reptilian pokémon recoiled at the sudden turn of events before realizing it was a Riolu on top of her partner.

"HEY! What's your problem?!" the Zangoose was suddenly heard yelling as he shoved the doglike creature off of himself in annoyance.

"H-huh?" the blue colored pokémon replied as he stood up and dusted himself off. "What are yo-Oh hey! You're that Zangoose…Uhh…Your name was…"

The normal-type only stared at the Riolu flatly while Molly, having regained her voice, spoke, "Jordan."

"Ha! You see! I remembered!" The aura pokemon chimed, grinning widely. However, he suddenly spun around and took off running. "Gotta go! I was in a battle, you see. See ya Jordan and Scrafty!"

The Zangoose rolled his eyes in response while Molly waved awkwardly.

"Okay…That was….interesting," she noted to the feline-like pokemon.

"He's the brother of that one Buneary Teddy's friends with. His name is Cashley or something," he explained, attempting to ease her confusion.

"I see."

She wasn't sure how they had met, but she wasn't going to ask any further.

"Uhm, Molly," the Zangoose began, and Molly could tell he had gone back to being nervous. "Do you wan-"

Again, the normal-type was cut off, but it was by the Scrafty suddenly leaning against him, "Of course I do."

Another uneasy chuckle escaped Jordan as he awkwardly hugged his partner, "I love you."

"I love you too."

A/N: Eugh, to be honest, I've been working on this since March, and I'm already tired of rewriting this chapter. So, yeah.

Here's to hoping the next chapter will be better! Maybe. I dunno.

Read, review, eat Cheetos, pet an animal correctly, or whatever.
