A/N: SO. I haven't updated in forever. My bad.
Though I do plan to finish this before June. Will I? No idea!
However, I'll be honest when I say my writing will be... weird? because I'm trying new things and stuff.
Also, Teddy and Cupid finally confess? and the story is being taken into a different direction than planned. Mainly out of some life experiences that have happened to me which changed my perspective a bit.
Anyways, I don't own Pokemon, and I hope any readers that are still around will enjoy!
Love Happens Suddenly
Chapter 18
And so, he had agreed. He had agreed to help Bruno get with his mom. Now, while a part of him was okay with this, the other part wasn't.
He felt bad and excited.
Excited because maybe, his mom could fall for someone better than his rotten, old father. Sure, Bruno wasn't the best at socializing, and he was a bit grumpy. However, Cupid thought he was a good guy.
… But he felt bad because maybe, maybe, this wasn't a good idea. Maybe it was better to let his mom wallow in whatever self-pity and hurt she probably wallowed in.
Oh Arceus, oh Arceus…
It was a bad idea!
Oh Arceus, what did he do? Why did he have to be such a bad son and go against his mom? Why did he have t-
"Frank?" is what Cupid heard then. He remained fixated, leaning on the hard tree as his breath stopped.
Yet the worry remained, and when he decided it was better to not reply to the voice, he went back to being scared and confused an-
"Frank! Frank, are you okay?" the voice continued, and the Buneary was forced to look in the direction of the voice.
He looked up to find Teddy standing in the distance, a look of confusion and worry on her face.
"O-oh, hey Teddy," the normal-type greeted, forcing a fake smile, but was certain he probably wasn't pulling it off well.
It seemed he was right as the Pikachu came over and gave him an even more worried look.
"Frank…? Is something wrong?"
He sighed, dropping the façade as he looked away, "Yeah, yeah. Kinda."
The electric-type frowned, "What's wrong?"
Cupid looked at her, not answering immediately as he studied her face. Unfortunately, due to the fact he held feelings for her, he was mesmerized which didn't help at all when he murmured, "… You're pretty."
Teddy froze, obviously flustered which resulted in small sparks escaping and hitting the Buneary. He yelped a bit in pain and gave her a horrified expression.
"I'm very, very sorry. I just… I'm not thinking straight, and I realize that's an inappropriate thing to tell a friend… And… Oh Arceus! I'm so sorry if I offended you," the chocolate-colored bunny rambled apologetically after her failure to respond immediately.
The yellow mouse didn't reply, looking downwards, and he only became much more concerned.
"T-Teddy…?"
"I… In… In what context do you mean that?" she asked suddenly, not moving at all.
Cupid flinched, not expecting that kind of response at all, but still, what?
"…I… Um.. what do you mean?" he asked, tilting his head even though he knew she wouldn't see him do that.
"Like… Like… Um. You… called me pretty… In what way do you mean that?"
The normal-type felt his face grow warm as he looked away, "Well… honestly? I… I mean that as i-"
"I like you," she interjected then, not allowing the male to finish his statement.
Cupid stiffened, not expecting those words, "L-Like me?"
"Y-Yeah. I know…. I know it's stupid since we've only known each other a short time, but just… you… I don't know what you did to me, Frank," Teddy confessed. "You don't have to feel the same, but yeah, I just… wanted to tell you."
Silence passed between the two, neither sure what to say.
However, Cupid finally broke the silence by asking, "Can… Can I be honest with you?"
"Yeah…"
"I've liked you since I first saw you…. This… This might sound creepy, but I remember seeing you out in the street and thinking you were just… stunning. And… when you approached me, and we became friends, I just…. Liked you more. And honestly, I just… really like you at this point," the normal-type rambled, feeling a bit embarrassed to be admitting these words to her.
Teddy made a surprised noise as she looked away, covering her face with her paws, "I… I."
Cupid blinked, chuckling a bit at the sight as he spoke, "Aaah, that's really adorable."
"Hush!" Teddy huffed, flustered to the point of getting defensive, but Cupid only smiled.
Arceus, was she adorable…
However, he wasn't able to focus his attention on this much longer as she managed to regain her composure. Her eyes returned to their serious state as a small frown formed.
"Okay. So, where do we go from here?" she asked suddenly which caught the Buneary off guard.
"Go… from here? What… What do you mean?"
"Like… Um… Well. Do you wanna stay as friends, or… Well," the yellow mouse fell silent again as the bashful side of her personality took over again.
Despite the dumbfounded smile Cupid acquired at the sight, he replied, "I… I don't know. That's up to you, really. I'm okay as long as you're happy."
That statement sent Teddy into a mess of stuttering and rambling, which again, only pleased the little rabbit Pokemon.
However, finally, she managed to mutter, "I-I wouldn't mind… giving us a shot."
"W-Wait, really?" Cupid spluttered, not exactly expecting those words.
"Well, yeah… I did say I like you and…" she fell silent as she closed the distance between them. However, to surprise the bunny even further, she enveloped him into a tight hug. The Pikachu succeeded as Cupid tensed at her touch.
However, he eventually hugged her back, quite awkwardly as he was never good at giving hugs.
Teddy pulled away then, looking away which worried him, but she started, "I've… never actually been in a relationship."
Oh.
On one hand, he was relieved, because he got to be her first date friend. On the other… He didn't actually know either.
"Um… Same," he admitted moments later to which resulted in the Pikachu giving a relieved look.
"Well… that's… That's good. We can learn together!" she chirped, smiling to which he gave a dumb, goofy smile as well.
"Yeah, yeah we can."
"So… tomorrow?"
"Tomorrow…?"
"Do you wanna like… meet up… for like, a first date?" she murmured.
He felt his cheeks grow warm at not realizing that, but he nodded hastily, "Yeah, yeah."
"Well… okay! See ya then, Frankie!" the Pikachu replied happily as she gave a wave, winked, and took off.
And... like that, he was… dating someone… ?
He was confused and happy, and pretty sure he was hallucinating.
A/N: It's short, yes.
Join us next chapter as some things happen.
So, yeah.
That's all. Read, review, awkwardly date someone (me), or not.
