This is when Hiccup went into the forest, looking for Toothless. That is all.
"Oh, the gods hate me. Some people lose their knife or their mug. No, not me. I manage to lose an ENTIRE DRAGON?!"
Hiccup jumps down one of the slopes of the path and when he swats the tree in his way, it smacks right back at him, making him cry out in pain. He rubs his swatted face for a moment before he looks at the broken tree. "What the…?"
He soon trails his eyes down to the following destruction before him with snapped trees, burnt branches down to the misty miles where, if he strains his ears a bit, he can hear the sound of something roaring…
He wastes no time in getting there. His heart beats rapidly in his ribs and his legs, no matter what comes in their way, just keep running and running until he reaches his destination, standing behind the rock where, in front of it, is a Night Fury all tied up by a bola, lying still and quiet. Hiccup steps closer to the dragon and when it doesn't move, a smile slowly spreads across his lips.
"Oh, wow," He breathed, "I did it. Oh, I did it! This fixes everything! Yes! I have brought down this mighty beast!" He places his foot on the lying dragon but the moment he does, his balance gets tipped back from the sudden movement of the dragon's wings. "Whoa!"
He falls onto his bottom and a sound rumbles from the being within the wings, revealing a light-skinned male with shut eyes and ripped clothing. His black shirt looks more like a singlet and his wings, still tied and wrapped around him, only manage to cover his abdomen to his knees.
The hybrid opens his eyes and Hiccup finds himself pinned under the silted gaze.
The Night Fury stares at him, waiting and the world around them slows to a quiet hum. Hiccup grips hard on his dagger and he shakily stands up, looking down on the trapped hybrid. He has heard of dragons being able to change forms, turning them to hybrids or humane but…Never, never, has he ever seen one.
And it's magnificent.
Hiccup winces at that horrible thought. Magnificent? What is he thinking?! Dragons are not magnificent! They're dangerous! Vicious! They can just snap him like a twig!
He's a Viking! And a Viking should never yield! Especially to a dragon!
Hiccup's eyes turn stern and he takes a deep breath. "I'm going to kill you, dragon." He states, his own heart beating erratically. "I'm gonna cut out your heart and take it to my father. I'm a Viking." He looks at the hybrid's silent gaze and he shouts with as much force in his voice as he could. "I am a VIKING!" Gripping the dagger's handle with both hands, he raises the blade over his head. When he glances at the hybrid's eyes, he finds his resolve weakening.
The Night Fury looks strong. Brave. Tough. But in those toxic green eyes, he can see the fear within them, swimming around to strike into the young prince's heart…
He tries to ignore the feeling of seeing that fear and closes his eyes, shaking the thought away but even with shut eyes, he can still see the fear in those eyes…
The hybrid closes his eyes and lies onto the ground as if he's asleep, ready to have his life ended by the brunette…
Hiccup grips harder around the handle and when a sudden feeling of guilt rush through his body, he lets out a small sound of frustration and his arms lowered slightly, his head bending low. He shakes his head. He can't do it…He can't kill a dragon. The son of a Viking chief can't kill a dragon! Oh how the village would laugh…
But when he opens his eyes and looks down to the breathing hybrid, he can see he did the right thing…Even if this beast tried to destroy the village, he is still a living being. Killing him…It wouldn't be right.
"I did this."
He lets his arms hang onto his sides with his knife in his right hand. He turns around and begins to walk but he stops when he realizes. The Night Fury is tied up, defenseless and injured…If Hiccup doesn't hurt him, then someone else will…IF they found him…
The brunette looks back onto the still limp body and with thoughts running through his head, he closes his eyes and faces the ground with frustrated brows furrowing together.
A pair of poison eyes snap open at the sound of metal running against the rope that binds him. Hiccup looks back with his hands furiously working on slicing the bola from the hybrid's body. He has to do this fast, before anyone comes back. You can never know who would be patrolling the forest and if anyone finds out-
Snap!
Hiccup feels his breath being knocked out of his body as he gets pinned down on the grass, his eyes widening with fear at the sight of black wings surrounds the black long-haired teen, a pair of flap-like ears standing in alertness. The Night Fury's eyes stare down at the frighten prince he straddling on, watching him gasping and breathing in panic at the fact his own knife is close to the skin under his chin with a hand clasp around his throat.
This boy, this…human. He's afraid. And he has the right to be. He should never free his prisoner lest he wishes to be killed. What is he thinking? Is he stupid? No…He can see those emerald eyes glowing with intelligence, something he only finds in the water at the face of his own reflection. Then is this stranger…freeing him? After capturing him?
The Night Fury bends low and when his face is near the prince's, his voice, both beautiful and alluringly dark, laces with pure hostility and threat that it made Hiccup's knees go weak in fear.
"You are a fool, human…if you dare trap me again…"
Black wings rise and shrouds them in the darkness. The hybrid opens his jaw. Hiccup only has those as a warning before he shuts his eyes tight to hear the screech of a large roar, readying himself for the next act: The kill.
But nothing came. Hiccup opens his eyes to face the stern, mysterious acid eyes before his knife is left on one of his body, the hybrid releasing him…With a silent, impassive look, the Night Fury turns around and opens his large wings, getting a running start and fly lopsidedly into the distance.
Hiccup tries to stand on shaky legs as he supports himself with a nearby boulder. He looks on at the disappearing figure. Surely he didn't imagine it, right? A dragon spared his life! He is truly lucky to be alive…But somehow, he feels even luckier to hear the voice of the majestic Night Fury, let alone see one!
And, to his surprise, he could've sworn his heart has skipped a beat from the sound of it…
Pushing that thought as a sign of nearly dying of fright, Hiccup turns to the path where he came from, walking back to his village…
Well, try to…The fear of nearly getting eaten by a Night Fury and the fear from almost getting killed has bring a toll on the skinny Viking.
When he almost reach his third step, he sways and finds himself fainted onto the grass, passing out from the force of the situation.
Yes, I realize this is short and yes, I know I have only started the movie version with this one and no, I will still cut out the scenes of it piece by piece and no, the next one will not be another scene from the movie…I think.
Hope it answers –some of- your questions.
