It was a sweltering day outside and even with the Chop Shop being in the basement, it was still hotter than necessary. Yet, here I found my cousin welding in heavy protective clothing. I watched from the door for a moment, arms crossed. I didn't even need my coat to sweat in this heat.
She took the information I gave her without any fight or fuss. She didn't question anything except once, and even then I only had to cut the video out at the right moment. I shook my head- for a smart girl, she was surprisingly gullible. It still upsetting, however, that she had gone to the monks. Originally I assumed she went home but coincidentally her parents called the same day to check up on her. I lied of course and told them that she was sleeping, and that she was doing fine, and yes I'd make sure she would contact them at some point but I never followed up and they never called back.
I spent too long looking for her if only to get my stuff back. Annoying how family can take your things without permission and expect that only an apology will make things okay. Though she didn't even apologize at first- stubborn and prideful as she is.
She paused her welding to rotate a shoulder and massage some ribs. I'm pretty sure if she looked around she would see the disappointment on my face.
The fact that Chameleon bot beat me to the punch in actually stealing Wu was one thing but Jaqulin's lack of combat ability was worse. More upsetting, I realized, is that she had obviously been at the temple for months but hadn't either been taught enough or anything at all.
What did they use her for, a janitor?
Either way it didn't matter at the moment. I left the room and sent Yes-Bot inside to bring her some water after deciding I would modify the air conditioning to partially divert into the basement.
Author's Note: Well, it's been a LONG time since I updated last. I promise this isn't abandoned, and I actually have a few chapters to post up as well. Here's one that I hope you enjoyed.
