Third Chapter!
I was thinking of getting a Beta Reader.
Though right now I've already asked someone, but if they can't do it, I might ask for another.
But either way, I need to proof read my stories and chapters XD
I've done some digging around, and I want to tell a small sneak peek, since someone reminded me that Mosskit needs a queen.
I totally forgot...
But now I know exactly whose gonna be Mosskit's mother :D
I'll say Mosskit is about.. 2 moons now?
Still need a bit of milk, I'm guessing..
Ignorance: lack of knowledge or information.
P.S, I'll only update new chapters on weekdays.
Weekends, I'll probably just go and re-edit my chapters.
"Who are you?..."
The words buzzed in her ears. Burning inside.
Should I really tell him who I am?.. But he already knows about me... Shouldn't he recognize me, at least?
"My name is... Is..."
Her paws started to wriggle around a bit as Jayfeather practically dropped her down on the sandy grounds of the camp.
"I found this lost kit in our territory as I was looking for Marigold.
She claims her name is...
Moss..."
A blue-gray cat flicked her ears. Standing under a shrouded area of shade, underneath a tall tree, sprouting out it's Greenleaf blossoms.
Small birds flew above. Chatting and chirping their songs.
But she paid no attention. Instead. she stood and waited.
And waited.
And waited..
"Bluestar? What are you standing there for?.. Is something wrong?.."
A slender she-cat padded up to the former leader. Quirking her head to the side as she tried to study the older cat, for any signs at all, of something the matter.
She shook her head silently. Not breaking eye contact with the looming forest.
Bluestar focused on the small detailed of the trees. Small swaying leaves. The skeleton of the blooming leaves.
Rough, and smooth bark. Ants fetching food..
"Nothing is wrong Spottedleaf... I think..."
She quietly broke her contest with the trees, and turned her old friend, who listened intently, nodded for her to continue.
"Mosskit..
Is gone..."
"Moss?
That name suits you well, little one..."
The old leader leaned down with a purr. His eyes lighting up brightly with a softness for kits. Old memories stirred of Leafpool and Squirrelflight being born. Him and Sandstorm raising them up into strong warriors... Or a medicine cat.
"Th-thank you.."
The small voice interrupted him. Clearing his head, he looked down on the small she-kit once more.
"And where did you come from, Moss?"
"I.. I don't know.."
She mumbled quietly. Earning a soft scoff from Jayfeather as the older cat proceeded to sit down behind her, and wrap his tail around his paws.
"All I know is that one moment... I was cold... and it was dark, and I was running.. And running... And running...
And then I ran into Jayfeather... And he brought me back here..."
She mumbled a few incoherent words after her sentence, but still managed her words to flow thoroughly through the respected leader's ear.
The orange tom flickered his battle-scarred ears. Catching the soft words of the small kit.
His hunting instincts fast enough to catch it.
"Well..
Do you know where your parents are?...
Or where you were living before you ran here?..."
He asked softly, swishing his soft tail back and forth on the sandy ground, signalling the other cats to give them some space.
Jayfeather pulled his ears backwards, flatting them on the back of his head as he heard the other retreat back.
Taking that as a clue, he began to retreat backwards, pulling his soft white tipped paw from his position, and began to stand and walk to his den once again, to sort the herbs.
"W-wait... Where are you going, Jayfeather?..."
Mosskit started to have a small panic attack, her nervousness soon acting up upon her small frame.
Are they going to hurt me?...
I don't want Jayfeather to leave.!
He turned back his harsh icy gaze on the duo of cats. The smaller kit, flinching backwards.
And the leader calmly watching. Twitching his whiskers in approval in Jayfeather's silent request.
"I was just going to my den. Do you want me to stay instead?
I'm pretty sure Firestar can take care of you, much better than I can."
He spoke with a sense of anger and disappointment in himself. His tip of his tail flicking back and forth impatiently.
"Jayfeather.
You are as worthy as any other cat.
Before your medicine cat training. You had a regular apprentice training also. You can defend her as well as the others, you just have to believe."
The older leader snapped sharply. His eyes burning with a force of quiet intensity.
"Hmph..
If you say so..."
He responded simply with sitting down once again near the terrified kit.
"Now..
Let's try and figure this out again..
Try starting from the beginning.
Moss."
To be continued...
