Jareth sat in his study, one leg over the arm of his chair, one hand carelessly juggling three crystals while staring into the fire. Six days had past since his 'Suitor interview' with the High Queen, who was also his mother, and he still hadn't heard if his suit had been accepted. What was taking so long? Surly it didn't take this long?

While the Goblin King continued his inner ranting, he failed to notice a change in the air which signalled to any fae that company was coming. Within seconds, High King Mabon stood in his son's study with the biggest grin on his face and a wicked gleam in his eyes.

"Good afternoon, my son," the older male fae greeted, breaking through Jareth's inner ramblings.

"Afternoon, Father," Jareth replied, raising from his chair and summoning refreshment. "I didn't feel you coming."

"Well, I'm not staying long," the High King explained. "But your mother did ask me to give you this, as she had a feeling you would be impatient to know if your suit had been accepted." As the Monarch spoke, he held out a scroll of parchment bearing the Queen's insignia.

As calmly as possible, Jareth took the scroll from his father and opened it.

To his Highness, High Prince Jareth and King of the Goblins,

I am pleased to inform you that you and three others have been accepted as Lady Sarah's suitors. Please place all courting requests through me, High Queen Cordelia, and a response will be sent after careful consideration.

Yours Thankfully

High Queen of the Underground

Three. Three? THREE!? Sarah had accepted not only his suit but three other fae men to court her! Looking up from the parchment to his father, the Goblin King finally understood the wicked gleam in his eyes. He knew who and he wanted to see his reaction when he told him.

"Who are they?" Jareth's voice was quiet and tight. He was trying very hard to keep his jealousy and temper under control.

"Do you really want to know?" Mabon asked, trying to contain his laughter.

"Just tell me."

"Very well. Prince Keir of the Oreads, King Varden of the Elves and King Maccus of th-"

"MY TWIN BROTHER?!" Jareth could keep his cool no longer. Of all the fae males in the Underground, Sarah wanted to date his twin! The woman would be the death of him!

At the sound of his father's laughter, Jareth felt his temper leave him and could see why the High King would find this whole thing amusing. After centuries of begging their sons to find women to love, they both wanted to court the same one. However, Jareth did have the upper hand in this little 'game' and if he was patient and attentive he knew he could win Sarah's heart.

Sarah stepped into her bedroom and breathed a sign of relief. It had been a long evening, in fact the last six months had been long, ever since she had agreed to let four Monarchs court her in order to find love and happiness.

Feeling restless, Sarah walked through her bathroom and into Toby's room and silently watched him sleep for a few minutes, letting his slow and heavy breaths calm her over active soul, before returning to the bathroom to draw herself a bath. As the water ran, the young fae woman's thoughts drifted over the last six months and to the gentlemen who had been wooing her.

Each Monarch had given Sarah a tour of their kingdoms and she had been enchanted at how different each of them were. Prince Kier's kingdom was within the largest Mountain in the Underground and the palace had been made out of a rare gemstone-Black Opal. This gemstone had a truly mysterious quality as it has a rainbow of colours that glittered as light reflected off it and Sarah couldn't help but gasp her delight as she toured the palace. They had flittered the natural daylight into the Mountain using a similar technique the ancient Egyptians had used with mirrors and even though it had be explained to her, Sarah would never understand how it was done.

Prince Kier was always kind to her during their time together and would complement her on her beauty or intelligence. Sarah felt comfortable around him and found that she enjoyed his company, even if he was immature on occasion.

King Maccus' kingdom caught her by surprise as she didn't know much if anything about trolls only what she had read in her books when she had lived Aboveground, which described the creatures as ugly and slow-witted. To Sarah's delight, all her books were wrong as Trolls looked very similar to humans but are eleven feet tall with features that are more round and had the same intelligence as an average human. King Maccus and his Trolls had a duty to protect the Underground from ogres and giants; both creatures have a truly nasty temper and their strength is only matched by a troll.

King Maccus had a wicked sense of humour and Sarah seemed to have a permanent smile on her face when she was around him. He was also very polite and made it a point to make her feel relaxed but she miss having a real serious conversation with him.

The kingdom of the Elves had been completely jaw-dropping, as they lived within the biggest trees in the Underground. Each tree was hollow but still alive and had connecting branches to it's neighbouring trees giving the Elfin race easy access to each tree. At the base of each tree was a hot spring for bathing that was surrounded by a thick curtain of Ivy. Most of the flowers provided warmth and light and Sarah knew she would never remember all the names, in short is was the most enchanting place she had ever been.

King Varden delighted in showing her his home and for every question she asked about his kingdom, he asked one about her life, past and present. He had made her visit wonderful and Sarah could see herself being content if not happy with him.

However, the most surprising of all the Kingdoms she had seen, was her visit to the Goblin Kingdom. Jareth met her at the gates of the Labyrinth where she had started her journey when she was fifteen and she was left speechless at how different it was. First, the corridors were clean and clutter free, next, the plant life was well tended and had flourished from the care of the fairies and last of all, the smell of the stale bog had gone, leaving the air fresh and sweet.

During their walk though the Labyrinth, Jareth asked how she had felt or what had been going through her mind while she ran the Labyrinth, sometimes she answered honestly but other times she kept quiet. However, the Goblin King never pressed for answer but would smile knowingly at her and seemed to enjoy the easy silence between them. This continued till the couple entered the Goblin City to find it completely altered, gone were the dusty streets, cramped and run-down houses, in their place was a well organised city. Beautiful stone houses and shops with polite and busy Goblins going about their business and who happily greeted her calling her 'Lady Sarah'.

Lying in the tub of warm, silky water, Sarah smiled at the memory of her tour of the new Goblin Kingdom and how she had held on to every word of how Jareth had redesigned and cleaned up his realm. She has been truly impressed at how he had matured since she had first met him.

Hearing a knock at her bathroom door, the young Champion brought herself back to the present and gave permission for the visitor to enter as she magically pulled the curtains closed around the tub, giving herself privacy.

"How was your evening with Prince Kier?" The High Queen Cordelia asked gently, standing behind the curtains.

"Pleasant," Sarah answered politely. During her courtship, she had kept how she really felt about each monarch to herself as she didn't want to be told how she should or should not feel about any of them.

"I'm glad to hear it," her guardian answered, but Sarah knew there was more to come. "Sarah, it has been six months since I agreed to let all four monarchs court you and I was wondering if you have come to love any of them?"

Sarah smiled as she thought of the male fae who had her heart in his hands and knew it was time to inform the High Queen that she was ready to tell him.

"I have come to love one of them," she answered softly.

"Does he love you in return?"

"Yes, I think he does."

"I shall gather them all on the morrow and you can inform them of your choice," the High Queen declared, walking from the room leaving a very happy Labyrinth Champion to finish her bath.
