Chapter 17: Falling In Love With You

Saaya's POV

How could that happened?! How could it?! I just saw Ikuto and Amu under a tree in the garden making out.

They were back together? But how? Was Ikuto so good at convincing Amu he didn't do it? Well, he didn't, is the truth.

Though, it shouldn't surprise me so much. Ikuto is literally the most perfect human being.

Another situation is that someone sold us out? The only person that knew our plan is Mari. It could be her, I need to find out.

I was going to look for Mari when I saw Tadase instead.

Going up to his table, I sat down immediately, slamming my bag down on the table.

"Woah! Chill a little tigress." He said, putting down his phone which he was typing at furiously.

"Don't call me that!" I shot back.

"Sorry," he put up his hands defensively.

"Did you know Ikuto and Amu are back together?"

"Well, of course." He said, going back to typing on his phone.

"Well, you got a plan?"

"Already on it."

"Need my help?"

"Not this time, princess."

"Ugh, stop with the nicknames."

He didn't say anything else and just continue looking at his phone.

"So, what's the plan?"

"Hmm, haven't really decided yet. I have a few options."

"Maybe I can help you choose."

"Nah, I don't think so." He said, turning off his phone.

"Why not?"

"'Coz my plan all have the same result: landing Ikuto into the hospital." He smirked, grabbing his stuff and standing up.

"W-what is that suppose to mean?"

"Sorry, but I got to get rid of him."

He started walking away. I quickly got up and ran after him.

"Hey, stop!" I ran, I hate running. Plus, I was wearing high heals. "Wait!"

I finally caught up to him. Trying to catch my breath, I asked, "What do you mean?!"

"Exactly how I said it."

And with that, he left again.

Landing Ikuto into the hospital? What is he planning? Whatever it is, it isn't going to be good.

I continue to find Mari. I finally found her coming out of a class room. I went up to her and dragged her into an empty corridor.

"Ow, Saaya, my hand hurts." I was gripping her hand too tightly but I didn't care.

I let go of her hand and make her face me. "Did you tell anyone about the plan?"

"W-what?" She looked scared and guilty. "N-no, o-of course not!"

"Let me ask you one more time, did you tell anyone about the plan?"

She didn't say anything this time and tried not to look at me.

"Answer me, Mari!"

"I—"

"You what?!"

She was about to say something when another voice spoke. "Leave her alone. She didn't do anything wrong."

I knew that voice all too well. I hated it. I turned around and there she stood. Amu.

"What?!"

"I got suspicious and I asked her," she took a stepped closer. "Leave her out of all this and come deal with me."

"Fine." I turned back to Mari. "You and I have nothing to do with each other from no onwards."

She quickly left and I turned back to Amu.

"Using other people for your own selfish reasons, seriously?"

"It's not like a forced her."

"Why are you doing this?"

"You know why!"

"Well, ok."

"And I wasn't the one who planned this. I never thought of planning to do anything like this. The opportunity came up and I took it."

"Yeah. Tadase, huh? That jerk!"

"Why do you hate him so much?" I looked at her. "If you go with him and I go with Ikuto, everybody will be happy!"

"You think it's that easy?" She paused. "Guess he never told you he cheated on me."

"Oh," He didn't mention that to me. "Well, that's not my problem."

"Look Saaya, I know you like Ikuto. But even if Ikuto was single, he won't fall for you, no offense."

"I know that!"

"Then stop." I didn't say anything and she continued. "One day, you'll find someone even more wonderful and perfect than you think of Ikuto. And who knows, that person might think the same way of you.

"What you think of Ikuto is just a little infatuation. You're just attracted to his looks and how cool he is, you don't know him personally."

"I could get to know him."

"Well, yeah. But does he want to?"

"No 'coz you're standing in the way."

"No, I'm not. Ikuto met you before he met me. Was it different back then and now?"

I didn't say anything else. I knew Ikuto didn't like me from the start.

"If Ikuto was meant for you, it would have already worked out," she said, knowing I have nothing else to say.

"Well, right now, I like Ikuto. I'm not going to give up just yet."

"Well, ok."

"I'm going to try my best until maybe I find someone better."

"Okay," she smiled. "Just don't do weird stuff like this to break us apart. If we're going to break up, it'll be on our terms."

"Yeah. When you guys break up, I'll be there for Ikuto."

She chuckled. "Go ahead."

Amu's POV

At least I got to talk through all this with her. I don't think she's going to mess with us anymore.

"Well, see you around."

"Amu, wait!" I turned around, waiting for what Saaya have to say. "Tadase is planning something."

"What? Again, seriously? When will he stop?"

"I have nothing to do with it this time but I think he's planning something bad."

"What do you mean?"

"He said something about Ikuto landing in the hospital."

My eyes widened. "What?"

"That's all I know. Just be careful."

"Ok. Thank you."

I was making my way up to the rooftop where I'm suppose to meet Ikuto there.

I opened the door to the rooftop and see him sitting there. His eyes was close, enjoying the breeze that was blowing against his face which made his hair sway a little. He looks so peaceful, like he had no worries.

I was staring at him, not wanting the moment to end but he must've felt my presence. He turned around and gave me a smile that I would just melt.

"What were you doing?" He asked after I sat down next to him.

"Nothing," I replied innocently.

"Come on, you gonna tell me?"

"Why should I?"

"Hmm... 'Coz you love me?"

I giggled and leaned in to give him a quick kiss with a smile on my face.

"So?" He insisted after we pull away from each other.

"Nothing. Just watching you."

"Watching me, huh?" A smirk now on his face. "I know I'm sexy but you didn't have to."

"Oh, shut up." I beat his arm playfully. "You just look so peaceful and calm. I like it."

"Well, I like looking at you too." He was staring at me now. It made me a little uncomfortable but happy.

After a few seconds, I looked away. "Stop it. You're making me nervous."

"You're so beautiful, I couldn't help it." I blushed.

"And you're so cute when you blush." That made me blush even more. I was trying to hide my face but Ikuto took my face into his warm hands. "Don't look away."

He leaned his forehead to mine and looked at me with loving eyes, still cupping my face with his hands.

He gave me a gentle smile and I shyly smile back. Second by second, our faces grew closer to each other. Until finally, our lips touch.

The feeling of his lip on mine, I could just melt. I wish that blissful moment would never end but soon we were out of breath. It was silent, none of us speaking.

"Oh yeah!" Ikuto suddenly exclaimed.

"What? What?"

"I almost forgot," he took his huge art folder that was beside him. I didn't even notice it was there. He took out a piece of drawing block. "Here."

I took it and saw that it was me playing a piano and I looked like I was singing.

"I promised you a drawing," he said. "Do you like it?"

"I love it!" It was so beautiful. I didn't expect Ikuto to really draw but he did.

"I love it when you sing with that angelic voice of yours." I smiled.

"Next time, when we get our own house, we can frame this one and the one I drew for you up on the wall."

"When we get our own house, huh?" He was smirking. I blushed.

"W-well, I mean, um–"

"Yeah, that'll be nice."

"Really?"

"Yeah," I just smiled. Next time.

We sat in each other's embraced, watching the sunset when I suddenly remembered the conversation I had with Saaya.

"He said something about Ikuto landing in the hospital."

What could that mean? Well, whatever it is, it probably isn't going to be good.

"Ikuto?"

"Hmm?"

"I found out who was behind our breakup and all that."

"You did?" He looked at me with wide eyes.

I nodded. "Yeah, it was Saaya and Tadase. They ask the girl that kissed you for help."

"Tsk, those two. They're going to get it from me." He looks angry.

"Ikuto, don't. I talked to Saaya. I made sure she won't do it again."

"How do you know? She could say one thing but do another."

"Trust me, please?"

He looked at me for awhile then he sighed. "Well, ok. I just don't want anybody coming in between us, you know?"

"Yeah, I know." I leaned into Ikuto's chest.

"Well, what about Tadase?"

"I don't know," I paused for awhile, thinking about what Saaya said. "He could be planning something again."

"Yeah, I wouldn't be surprise." He tighten his hold around my waist. "I get why he wants you back. Who wouldn't want you. He's such an idiot to let you go in the first place."

"Stop joking around, Ikuto."

"I'm not joking around," he pulled me up onto his lap. "He's so stupid to let such an amazing and beautiful girl like you go. Well, you're mine now and I'm not gonna give you up to anyone."

Damn it, he's making me blush. "I'm never going back to that bastard."

"I know."

"Ikuto, be careful, okay?" I put one hand on his face. "You don't know what he might do to you or me."

"Yeah," he put his hand over mine. "I know. He won't break us apart."

"Yeah, I know. I'm never doubting you again." I leaned closer to him. "I love you."

"I love you, too."

Few days later

Tadase's POV

I've been following Ikuto and Amu, especially Ikuto. Most of the time they were always together, which prevented me from carrying out my plans.

Right now, Ikuto and Amu are relaxing under the tree they always went to. They probably don't know I'm near them.

"What do you want for lunch?" Ikuto asked. I was close enough to hear their conversation.

"I don't know," Amu replied. "I don't feel like eating anything from the canteen, kinda sick of it."

"Ok, then what do you want?"

"Kinda craving Mac." (A/N: It's McDonald if you all don't know.)

"Ok. I'll go buy for you. The usual?"

"No, it's ok! You don't have to go all the way out."

"My girl is craving Mac, I'll get Mac for her." She is going to be my girl soon enough.

"B-but, Ikuto–"

"I don't mind Mac too." He got up, taking his wallet and phone. "Plus, our next class doesn't start anytime soon."

"I'll follow you."

"No no, you stay here and relax. I'll be back real quick."

"B-but."

"No buts," he kissed her forehead. "So the usual?"

"Yeah. Thank you."

"Anything for you."

He left, walking towards the car park. Great, perfect timing for my plan.

I followed Ikuto and called the guy I hired to do the job.

"Get ready," I said to the person on the phone. "Go to the shopping mall near Seiyo University."

"Alright, I'll be right there."

"You know what's the plan," I said with a smirk. "Just carry it out."

"Alright." I hung up and continue to follow Ikuto.

He parked at the car park opposite the shopping mall. He had to cross a road to go over to the mall. He won't see what's coming to him.

Ikuto went in to buy their lunch and the person I hired was all ready to carry out the plan anytime.

Amu will be mine when Ikuto is gone.

Ikuto's POV

I was coming out of McDonald with two Mac meals in my hands, one for me and one for my precious Amu.

I was crossing the road when I felt something hit me, the side of my body felt painful. I was lying on the road, our meals scattered all over. I touched my forehead, it was wet. I looked at my hand, blood. Everything was blurry but I could see faint outline of people surrounding me. I could hear sirens getting louder and louder.

All I could think of is Amu. How she is waiting for me to go back with our meal. If I continue lying here, I'll be late. Amu is waiting.

Amu.

Suddenly, my world became pitch black, blank.

Amu's POV

Ikuto is taking longer than I expected. The shopping mall was only nearby. He should be back by now. Maybe there was just a long queue.

Another half an hour passed, making him an hour gone. I tried calling him a few times but there was no answer. I was getting worried.

I was going to try call him again when Utau called me.

"Hello?"

"Amu!"

"Hey Utau, what's wrong?"

"I just got a call from the hospital."

"For what?"

"It's Ikuto."

My eyes widened. "What happened?!"

"I'm not sure but I think he got hit by a car."

"What?!"

"Come to the hospital now."

"I'm on the way."

I hung up and rushed to my car. I quickly drove to the hospital. When I reached, I ask where Ikuto was. A nurse told me the way and I found Utau and Kukai outside the room.

"Is he ok?!"

"We don't know."

"I need to see him," I rushed to the door, trying to opened it.

"No, Amu you can't." Utau held me back. "They are operating on him right now."

I drop to the ground, tears running down my face. "I-it's all my fault! I-if he didn't go out and buy lunch for me, this wouldn't have happened."

"No, Amu, it's not your fault." Utau tried to comfort me. She was also close to tears but was holding it back. "It just happened."

"N-no, i-it's my fault!" I was covering my face with hands.

"Amu–" Utau was going to say something again when Kukai cut her off.

"Utau, let her be."

They gave me some space and eventually I calm down. The rest of the gang and Ikuto's parents came not long after I started crying.

After waiting for what seems like forever, the doctors came out of the room.

"How's Ikuto?!" I rushed to ask.

"Are you his family?"

"Uh, I–"

"She's his girlfriend," Utau said. "I'm his sister."

"Ok, Ikuto's condition is stable. He hit his head quite hard and a few bones at his rib cage broke. All we can do now is let him rest and wait for him to wake up."

"Can we see him?" I asked.

"Yeah, but only one person can stay after visiting hours."

"Ok. Thank you, doctor." Utau thanked the doctor. I was already rushing into the room.

Ikuto was lying on the bed, wearing hospital clothes. He had a scar on his forehead. He just look lifeless.

I kneeled down next to the bed and took his hands. I started crying again.

"It's all my fault," I said softly, tears dropping on his hands.

No one said anything. The room was silent except for sniffing, silent weeping and the beeping of the machine next to his bed.

After awhile, one by one they all slowly went out, leaving me alone with him.

"I'm sorry, I-Ikuto." I cried when I was alone. "I-I'm so sorry."

I touched his face gently and kissed his forehead.

I stayed in the room for quite long until Utau came in.

"Hey, Amu."

"Hey," I replied, weakly.

"You want to eat something?"

"No, I'm fine."

"But you didn't have lunch."

"It's ok, I'm not very hungry anyways."

Me having Ikuto to buy lunch was what caused all this. I'm so stupid!

"Well, ok."

"Thanks, Utau."

"No problem."

Later on, Ikuto's parents came to see him again. They talked to me too, trying to comfort me.

The day passed by so quickly. Soon it was night time and visiting hours were almost over. They were going back to school.

"Can I stay with Ikuto?"

"You should go back and rest. You can come back tomorrow." Souko told me.

"Please, I want to stay with him."

"Well, are you sure?"

"Yes, please."

"Well, ok."

"Thank you."

"Wait," Utau interrupted. "You can stay only if you promise me one thing."

"What is it?"

"You have to go and eat, ok?"

"But–"

"No buts, eat if not you're not staying. You didn't even eat lunch, you have to get something to eat first."

"Fine," knowing I'm not going to win this argument.

I went down to the hall to the hospital canteen. I didn't have the appetite after all that happened.

I bought some food and decided to go back to the room to eat. I sat next to Ikuto and started eating.

"We were suppose to eat together this afternoon."

I started tearing up again. "It's all my fault."

I didn't finish my food but at least I ate something. I lay my head on the bed next to Ikuto's hand, putting my hand on his gently.

I watched him until I eventually fell asleep.

The next day

I woke up when someone came into the room. Rubbing my eyes, I saw that it was a nurse.

"Good morning," she was holding a clipboard and a pen. "Sorry to disturb you. Just need to check on him."

"Uh, it's ok. Go ahead."

"It'll just take awhile," she wrote some stuff down and checked the machine next to Ikuto. "All done."

"Thank you."

"Your welcome. Have a nice day." Well, I hope Ikuto wakes up then I'll have a good day.

Not long after that, Ikuto's parents and Utau came in. Souko boiled me some soup that taste really good. I needed that to kick start my day.

I decided to just ditch all the classes today. I didn't want to go back to school. I just stayed in Ikuto's room, watching him and hoping he will wake up soon. I want to see him open his eyes and just be mesmerized in it. I want to see him smile and tell me everything is going to okay.

I stayed by his side the while morning. When it was lunch time, Ikuto's parents and Utau went for lunch at the canteen.

The room was silent until I heard the door opened. Thinking it was Utau, insisting I get something to eat, I said. "Utau, I told you, I'm fine."

There was no answer so I turned around. I was shocked to see who was standing in front of me.

Tadase.

"Hey."

I didn't say anything. What the hell was he doing here?!

"I heard about erm, what happened."

"Yeah, so?" I wasn't in the mood to put up with him now.

"Just thought you needed someone now."

"Well, if I did, it wouldn't be you."

"Amu, don't say that."

"What do you want me to say, huh? I don't want to talk to you, I don't even want to look at you."

He didn't say anything, just stared at me.

"Why are you here? You don't even care about him." I continue. If he isn't going to say anything, I'll talk. "You hate him 'coz he's with me. You think I didn't know that you were behind our breakup the other time?"

He didn't deny it, just stand there like an idiot he is.

"You were the one that came up with the plan to break us up. So don't even try to act like you're sorr–"

I stopped mid-sentence, suddenly remembering something.

"He said something about Ikuto landing in the hospital."

I looked to Ikuto and back to him.

Ikuto landing in the hospital.

It was him. He did this. It was all his fault.

I held on to the bed handle to make sure I don't fall.

"Amu, are you ok?" He took a step closer to me.

"You."

"What?"

"It was you."

"What are you talking about?"

"You did this to Ikuto."

"Amu, I think you need to sit down." He came towards me.

"No!" I put a hand in front of me, showing him that I want him to back off of me. "You did this to him!"

"Amu–"

"You planned all of this. You wanted him gone."

"Amu, stop!"

"No, you stop! Just admit it. You jerk!" He didn't say anything. "You think I don't know that this is all an act. It just makes you look like an idiot."

There was a pause and the room was silent again, just the sound of constant beeping from the machines.

"Fine," Tadase spoke up. "I did it."

I looked at him in the eye, waiting for him to continue. "The person that hit Ikuto with the car was someone I hired. I wanted him gone so you won't keep on clinging on to him."

"You're disgusting," I spat. "And such an idiot to think that if he's gone I will go back to loving you."

"I had to try everything to get you back."

"You had your chance and you blew it off. Maybe if you never cheated on me, I'll still be with you."

"I told you I'm sorry."

"Sorry doesn't mean anything coming from you." I turn away, not wanting to look at him. "Just leave me alone."

"I just want to make you happy."

"Well, you should have thought about that before you started making out with that chick." I turned to him. "If you really want to make me happy, get out of my life!"

He didn't say anything at first. Then, it was like he admitted defeat. "I'm sorry," he whispered but loud enough for me to hear and left after that.

A week later

It's been a week since the accident. Ikuto's condition is still stable but he still hasn't woken up.

I went back to school a few times to bathe and pack some stuff over to the hospital. I also attended a few classes but I could never focus in class.

It was past midnight, visiting hours are over and I'm staying over again. I don't want to leave his side.

I held his hand in mine and lightly press my forehead to his hand. I was tearing up again. "Ikuto, please wake up. Please."

"Please be ok." Tears rolled down my eyes and landed on his hand. "Please be ok."

It was silent, with only my silent crying and beeping of the machine when I suddenly felt Ikuto's hand flinched a little.

I jerk straight up and looked at him.

"Ikuto?" His hand flinched again. "Ikuto, can you hear me?"

It took him awhile but he finally managed to slowly open his eyes. I was now staring into his beautiful blue eyes.

"Amu," he said my name softly. My said my name. I missed hearing his voice so much.

"Ikuto!" I was crying so much but this time it was out of happiness, pure happiness. Ikuto is alright. He's alright.

I quickly called the doctor. They came and check on Ikuto. He can't move much because of his broken bones but he's condition is stable and after his bones healed, he can go home. I called Utau and Ikuto's parents to tell them the good news.

When the doctors left, it was Ikuto and I alone. The rest of them were on the way to the hospital.

"Ikuto," I smiled. "I missed you so much."

"How long was I asleep?"

"About a week."

"Oh," he tried sitting up but it hurt him.

"You don't have to sit up. Don't hurt yourself." I help him get comfortable lying down. "I was so scared."

"I'm sorry," he touched my cheek. I missed his touch so much. "It's alright now."

"Yeah, it is."

"So, did you go but your Mac meal by yourself?"

"What?"

"I didn't make it back to you with your meal."

"Ikuto, that doesn't even matter. Maybe if I didn't ask for it, you wouldn't be here."

"It's not your fault, baby."

"I found out who did it."

"Did what?"

"Hit you with the car," I sighed. "Tadase was behind all this."

"What? That bastard." He's pissed off. "Did he do anything to you?"

"No, I'm fine."

"Good. Once I'm out of here, he's going to pay."

"I don't think he will disturb is any more."

"Why's that?"

"I told him off and he just left."

"That's my girl," he smiled. "Well, once I get out of here, we're going to McDonald."

I chuckled. "Okay."

"I love you, Amu."

"I love you, Ikuto."

Falling in love with you was the best thing that ever happened to me.
