fluffpenguin: If they also talked about Chidori, Chapter 4 would have been too long. Also, I felt like it would have distracted from the point of that chapter, which was Kakashi's strange behavior and "Obito's Vow". They're going to address Chidori in this chapter. Don't worry, I didn't forget. :D

darkangelwp: Since Kakashi was the only one sent back, he's the only one who knows. His summons will appear later though, and they might find out. There's actually a chance that anyone could find out, but there's also an equal chance that Kakashi could continue to hide it.

Completely Confunded: I wasn't discounting Sakumo. Kakashi knows his father is dead. He was referring to the people he knew whose names were on the stone. Sakumo's name isn't there because he was disgraced.

Chapter 5: Med-nin

Kakashi sat up in a hospital bed, his wounds all bandaged up by a nurse. A doctor or Med-nin was supposed to be here any second to look at his eye. The rest of Team Minato was waiting outside of the room, something that Kakashi was extremely thankful for. If Minato was in the room while his eye was checked out, the consequences would be disastrous. His plan would most likely fail. But if the Med-nin was by themselves, that was a different story. Kakashi took a deep breath. He could do this.

The door opened and Kakashi forced himself to relax. In walked a Med-nin. A normal doctor would have been easier to fool, but if Kakashi timed this correctly, it would still work.

"Hello, Kakashi," the Med-nin said, smiling to try and put Kakashi at ease. "I'm here to look at your eye. Please unwrap the bandages." Kakashi nodded and did as she said, unraveling the bandages and leaving them in a pile on the ground. She came towards Kakashi, observing his closed eye.

"The bleeding has stopped, but you might scar," she told him. "Now, open your eye." Kakashi did as he was told, and her eyes widened in shock before changing to confusion. She shook her head as if to clear it. After that, she examined Kakashi's left eye. "I'm sorry to tell you this," the Med-nin said solemnly, "but you are permanently blind in that eye."

Kakashi nodded stoically, but he was extremely relieved that his plan had worked. The moment his eye opened he had cast a genjutsu on the Med-nin, showing her that his eye was damaged. She had barely seen the Sharingan, so she had assumed it was a trick of the light. Now, Kakashi was tired since his chakra barely had time to recover before he had used it again. After revealing the bad news, the Med-nin bandaged Kakashi's eye again and left. Minato, Obito, and Rin walked in a few minutes later. Kakashi saw that Rin looked alright; the only place that was bandaged was a cut on her upper arm.

"Yo," Kakashi said, raising a hand in greeting. Then, he remembered that he wasn't supposed to do that, but they only gave him some strange looks and said nothing about it.

"Kakashi, we heard the news," Minato said. "I'm sorry about your eye."

Kakashi shrugged. "It's not that big of a deal. I'll continue training until it doesn't hold me back."

Minato sighed in exasperation. "Don't push yourself. You're still in the hospital."

"I'll get out soon," Kakashi replied, getting back into character, "and then I'll train." Kakashi could tell that everyone was relieved that he was acting normal. Rin walked over to his side, biting her lip.

"I'm sorry, Kakashi. I should have been there to heal you right away," Rin said in regret. Kakashi looked at her and paused. Then, he nodded. Rin looked down, obviously upset.

"Kakashi, you jerk!" Obito shouted. "Rin couldn't help it, she was unconscious!"

"She shouldn't have been," Kakashi countered. He knew that he sounded harsh, but this was the next step. This was all to make Rin stronger. "Med-nin should be strong enough to evade and defend themselves from harm so they're around to heal their teammates."

"I'm sorry," Rin murmured.

"I've already forgiven you," Kakashi said, and Rin's head snapped up in surprise. Kakashi continued. "I was thinking about how you could improve, and I came up with senbon. Senbon are those thin metal stick with points on both sides. You're pretty accurate at throwing shuriken and you're knowledgeable on medical things, so I thought that you could throw senbon at vital points since senbon are smaller and harder to see. You could even cover the tips in poison. Does that sound good?"

Rin blushed and nodded. "I-I didn't realize you had been thinking about that so much. Thank you."

"No problem," Kakashi said, noticing Obito glaring at him out of the corner of his eye. "What do you want?" he asked Obito, whose eyes widened when he realized that Kakashi had called him out.

"What do you remember about the fight?" Obito questioned.

"I remember everything up until I used Chidori," Kakashi replied. Obito looked as if he had been expecting that.

"What was that jutsu? Did you just call it Chidori? We were talking about it, and Minato-sensei said that he's never seen it before," Obito said. Kakashi wondered when Obito had talked about it with Minato. It was probably while he had been unconscious. Obito would definitely have asked about a new jutsu right away.

"Did you create that jutsu, Kakashi?" Minato asked. "There are some drawbacks to it."

"I know. It's still in its experimental stage."

"Drawbacks? What drawbacks?" Obito questioned.

"Of course you didn't notice the drawbacks even though I was right in front of you."

"What was that, you bastard?"

"At least I'm not a crybaby ninja."

"Kakashi, you—"

"Obito, Kakashi, stop fighting," Rin reprimanded.

Minato waited for them to fall silent before he continued. "That jutsu has destructive power and speed, but because the speed of your movements are so fast, you won't be able to see your opponents counter. Therefore, it is incomplete. You shouldn't use it in battle anymore, Kakashi. It's too risky."

"Alright. At least, I won't until I perfect it." Kakashi didn't say that he had already solved that drawback. The Sharingan had fixed the problem a long time ago.

Kakashi sort of chatted with his team members; he pretended to be antisocial the whole time. He had already started to slowly introduce his new personality, but screw it. He was definitely going to do it at a faster rate. It was exhausting to act as his younger self. After a while, his team left to let him rest. As soon as they left hospital grounds, Kakashi got out of bed and climbed out the window. He winced a little at his sore muscles, but no way was he staying in the hospital.

He wandered around aimlessly, lost in thought, and he was surprised to find himself standing in front of the Memorial Stone. He sat down, staring at the blank space that had been full of names in the future. Names that he had memorized from always gazing at it. Even though the stone was different, Kakashi felt relaxed. This was normal, his daily routine. He stayed there for hours, only leaving for his apartment after the sun was long gone and the stars were twinkling in the sky.
