A/N: This is so late I'm so sorry ;-;

"HEYYYY KARKATTTTTT!" You shout, flying down the winding hallway of your school. The short troll turns his body to face you, his eyes get wide and he snaps back around.

"God no!" He shouts, bolting down the opposite way of your direction

"Karkat! No! Wait up!" You yell at him. It'd been a few weeks since the meeting at Prospit and the two of you were pretty much joined at the hip. It was the first day back after winter break that you realised you had a class with Karkat. "I was wondering if you wanted to come over and watch movies since you're off work today!" You chase after him.

You were a bit confused as to why he was running away. "Oh well." you think, a game of chase was nothing that phased you. You were finally catching up with him, moving quickly between the other people in the hallway. "There is no point in running Karkat. You know I'm a track star."

"Go away, Egbert!" he shouts back, you catch a smirk crossing his face. You switch on to super speed and jet up to him, then he just... stops. You can't slow down in superspeed and your feet are skidding on the floor trying to halt when... Splat!

You face plant into the door. You can hear your friend snickering from behind you. "Well, well, well." Karkat laughs, "if it isn't the pranking master. Oh? What's this? The pranking master has fallen. Now his heir shall rise up and take his place!"

You don't want to seem like a baby, but running into the door hurt reaaaaaally bad. Your face starts to sting and your eyes burn as tears threaten their way out. You look over at Karkat as the tears begin to roll down your cheek. You give him a little smile, "We've got to stop meeting like this."

You feel something hot run down from your nose, Karkat's eyes go wide in shock, "Oh shit. Let's get you to the nurse!"

He hurriedly makes his way over to you and lifts you up with an arm around your shoulders. "I'm sorry, I didn't think it would do this kind of damage. I was just trying to be uh funny…"

"Nah dude." you say, "It's alright. Let's just say I got payback from plastic wrapping the toilet seat last time you came over."

Karkat frowns at you. "Okay." You head back down the hallway and towards the nurse's room. Karkat's body heat radiating into you and getting you all warm and cozy.

"What seems to be the problem, kids?" the nurse says, not facing you.

"Uh," Karkat starts, "We were…"

"I ran into a door on accident." you cut him off

The nurse whips around, "Oh my gosh, you look terrible! Here sweetie I'll get you an ice pack, you just sit down." She says to you, then she looks at Karkat. "Thank you for bringing him. You can go back to class now."

Karkat opens his mouth to argue but just sighs and looks at you, "I'll take you up on your movie offer, John. I'll see you after school."

"Alright!" you give him your signature dorky grin, "See you then!"

Karkat ruffles your hair, "Feel better." He jams his hands into his jean pockets and exits the room.

The nurse hands you an ice pack, "You can stay in here for the rest of this period if need be."

Thank God there were only two more periods left before school was over, "Alright. Thanks."

You pull out your phone, flip out the keyboard, and text Dave.

"hey! Karkat is coming over after school to watch movies. you wanna join?"

Shades McCool himself immediately replies, "hahahaha for a second there i thought you were asking me to hang out with karkat."

"i am… :/"

"no way man. he hates me and you know it."

"come on! it would be nice if my two best bros could get along."

"you've known him for like a week."

"love has no age."

"i'm dating his ex."

"just let it happen, dude. i've got applejuice."

"fine. but i'm gonna drink all of your aj."

"okay :B" Score one for Egbert. Maybe once they hang out all this tension will go away and you could all be friends. Jeez you really should clear all these schoolboy fantasies out of your head. You shift the icepack to the other side of your head and get lost in thought about potential movie choices for tonight's showing. You quickly text your dad that Karkat and Dave would be coming home with the two of you after school; to which he replies a "K". The remaining two periods fly by and before you know it, you're standing in the pick up line waiting for Dave and Karkat to come outside. Karkat is the first to meet you. There has been only one time in your's and Karkat's brief history together where Karkat has smiled. It was when you first met at Prospit, when he was talking about a scene from one of his all time favorite rom coms. And you're not talking about just an occasional smirk or grin, no you're referring to a big eyed full tooth smile. And God was it handsome. In a no homo way, of course. Karkat had perfectly white teeth that caught glares of the sun like in a cheesy movie when a guy smiles at a girl. And his lips curl just perfectly in this kinda "I don't know I'm sexy" way. Once again, no homo. His eyes completely light up; extremely dazzling. It takes you a second to realise Karkat is giving you this rare and gorgeous smile, as he walks up to you, and when he finally reaches you, his arms wrap around your shoulders and he pulls you into a big hug. This was so un-Karkat like. "Uh nice to see you too." You laugh, returning the hug.

"You look okay. Do you feel okay? Oh God I'm so sorry, I'm such an idiot." he says, gripping your shoulders and taking a look at you.

"Yeah, Karkat. I'm fine." you chuckle

"Oh thank God." He says wrapping you up into his arms again.

"Uhh… Am I interrupting anything?" Dave clears his throat awkwardly

You quickly realise your arms from around Karkat and sort of push him away. "Of course not, Dave! I'm not a homosexual."

"Mhm," he grunts, "Let's just go."

"Wait, what?!" Karkat growls

"Dude," Dave looks at you, "You didn't tell him I was coming?"

"Heh...Surprise!" you scratch the back of your head awkwardly, "Dave's coming to."

Karkat glares daggers into you with those dark eyes of his. He looks back over and sees that the buses have already left, "I guess I have no choice, but to come with you assholes."

"Great!" you say as your Dad pulls up to the curb, "This is gonna be fun!"
