[WARNING]
The following chapter has been rated [T] for it's moderate sexual content and brief nudity.
Basically, it's fluff with a bit of zest.
So, in that sense, It'd be best to read this at home, rather than in public.
Or, if you are in public, read in a corner. There's only one questionable part anyway.
The reasons for this chapter's rating include;
* Suggestive Themes
* General Snogging
* Kisses on the neck
(But not hickies, because those are gross)
* Hand under the shirt
* Briefly exposed roboboobs
and,
* Earth-shattering plot-twists
Enjoy!
Chapter 10
As the sun began to go down, the sky started to glow a deep shade of orange. Quote and Curly left the beach temporarily to gather some firewood from the forest edge nearby. When they returned to the beach, they realized that they had no means of starting a fire. Quote cursed. "I wish I still had the Fireball..." Curly laughed.
"I suppose we can start a fire like normal people, then," She said, still laughing.
Quote smirked, and scanned the beach for a piece of flint. When he found a rock matching the criteria, he picked it up and returned to the campsite. Sitting down, he gathered some dry grass and formed it into a small pile. He gave the small pile to Curly, who held it in her hands. Quote took off his hat and struck the flint on the metal plate on the front. Some sparks flew from the collision, and landed on the pile. The androids blew gently onto the pile, watching as the sparks took. Small puffs of smoke began to emit from the heart of the pile. The two smiled, looking up from the kindling, only to realize how close they were to each other.
"O-Oh," said Quote quietly, but he didn't move away.
"Oh..." Curly responded, moving closer.
They brought their heads together and shared a short, but passionate kiss.
After they parted, Curly smiled, putting the kindling down under some of the firewood they had gathered. Only a few minutes later, the fire was burning cozily.
"This is nice," said Curly, turning to Quote.
"Yeah," said Quote. "It is." He looked up to the stars, finding constellations, finding peace. He looked back to Curly. "So," he said. "Where did you get these swim suits anyway?"
"Well," said Curly, "I asked the tailor in the mimiga village to make us some!" she blushed. "I wish you could have been there for fitting, though..."
Quote smiled, laughing. "I see," he said. He sat and thought for a minute, and then became puzzled. "Speaking of fitting, how did you get the right size for me?"
Curly smiled, leaning over to Quote. She wrapped her arms around his waist, embracing him in what seemed to be a hug. When she let go, she held up a small tailor's tape measure. Quote was floored. "And you never even knew!" Curly giggled and sat up.
"I am thoroughly impressed," said Quote. He was happy and at ease, but the feeling didn't last long. He laid back on the sand and sighed with a mixture of content and worry. He still couldn't shake the feeling they were being watched. Yet, every time he looked around, he saw nothing, no-one. He knew it had to just be paranoia... but, was it, really? Could someone actually be watching them? Who would? And why?
"Quote!"
He looked up. "What?"
"I've been trying to get your attention for a good minute now! Are you alright? You look like something is bothering you."
Something was, indeed, bothering Quote, but he didn't want to worry Curly, especially tonight. He shook his head, smiling. "No, it's fine. I'm just a bit restless."
"Alright," said Curly, clearly not convinced.
Quote looked up to the sky. He needed to satisfy his concerns, he needed to see if anyone was there. He knew they were probably alone, but... He had to check. He couldn't rest until he knew. He stood up. "I... I'm going to go out and walk for a bit. Maybe I'll calm down a little." Curly looked disappointed.
"Well," she said. "All right. But don't be gone too long... I'll get lonely." She smiled weakly, hoping that whatever was bothering him would soon pass.
"Alright," said Quote, as he turned and walked away.
A few minutes later, Curly was still sitting alone by the fire. She had changed back into her regular clothes, as it had gotten a bit cold. She hugged her knees, waiting for Quote to come back... Suddenly, she heard footsteps behind her, and she looked around. "Quote?"
A dark figure stepped out from the shadows, responding "Yes?" Curly recognized the voice.
"Quote! You're back!" Quote smiled, nodding. He looked a bit different, though. "When did you change back into your clothes?"
"I took them with me," said Quote, "Because I thought it'd get cold. Which it did, as you could probably tell!" Curly laughed.
"Yea, it did get kind of cold... But... I was hoping you'd be able to... You know... Warm me up..." As she said this, she shrugged off the left strap of her tank top.
Quote closed his eyes, nodding. "I'd be happy to." He kneeled down next to Curly and pressed his lips to hers, placing his hand on her exposed shoulder. Curly was a bit surprised at his immediate eagerness, but she welcomed it nonetheless. She allowed herself to be gently forced to the ground as she wrapped her arms around Quote's neck. She gasped as Quote began to kiss her own neck, and his hand slipped under her shirt. Curly felt her mind going blank, she never realized how sensitive she was there... Quote began to lift up her shirt, he heard her gasp. He brought the shirt up past her chest and to her shoulders, but he stopped there. Curly paid it no mind, she was too caught up in the moment. She looked up at Quote, into his eyes.
"I love you, Quote..." she said. The android smiled... but with a hint of something sinister.
"I know." His eyes changed color, from their normal black to a glowing red, and he pressed down into the point where Curly's neck met her right shoulder. "We'll just have to fix that when you get home." Curly's eyes widened as she felt something click, and the next instant, she felt nothing at all.
The red-eyed android stood up, brushing himself off. He looked back down at Curly, half-naked and unconscious. "Built with an emergency shut down button located high on the right shoulder. Should last for about ten minutes. So vulnerable. If the master can create a Mark 2 like me, why does he need these two scrap heaps?" He shook his head, kneeling down and picking up the unconscious android. "Get ready to meet your maker, sis."
As soon as he had said this, the dark figure appeared in front of them, as if it had teleported. "Hand it here," it said, in a low voice.
"Yes, father." The red-eyed android lifted up Curly's unconscious body, and passed it to the dark figure, who put her over it's shoulder. It looked back down to the red-eyed android.
"Do not call me that," it said, "Or I will have you disassembled. I am no father, I am no mother. I am simply a progenitor. Are we clear, SM-2?"
The android nodded. "Yes, Master."
"Good," said the figure. "Now stand by me." SM-2 Nodded again, stepped next to the dark figure, and the three of them disappeared.
Three minutes earlier and about 30 meters away, Quote searched for some kind of sign that his paranoia wasn't just that- paranoia. He'd been searching for a good seven minutes already, he was sure he wouldn't find anything. Yet, at the same time, he could feel something out here, and it was driving him nuts. He shook his head. It was probably better to just go back and sleep it off, he thought. As he was heading back, he thought he heard voices coming from camp... One was Curly, and the other...
Suddenly, a gust of air blew from behind Quote. The night had been calm, no wind whatsoever. This was not natural. Quote turned around and reached for his gun- but it wasn't there. He cursed as he remembered he'd left it on the beach. The dark figure stood in front of him, its red glowing eyes illuminating its hat and jacket, casting a shadow behind it. "What do you want," said Quote, preparing for a fight.
"You need to come home," said the figure. "You have kept me waiting long enough."
"My home is here in the plains," Quote retorted. "With my friends."
"You have no need for friends." The figure took a step closer, but Quote held his ground. "You will return home at noon tomorrow."
"You're not going to take me now?" Quote was a bit surprised, but he did not let it affect him.
"No," said the figure. "You seem to be in anticipation for a strife. I cannot afford to let you get damaged." Quote was slightly annoyed that the figure assumed he was weak, but he remembered he did not have his gun, and that he would most likely not win this battle.
"If you're not going to take me by force, then there's no way I'm going. I'm staying here, where I belong."
"Where you think you belong is irrelevant!" The figure seemed to be getting agitated, however, it was hard to tell. "You will return home tomorrow at noon. Your comrade is being taken there now."
Quote blinked. "Comrade... Curly?!" He didn't even wait for an answer. He turned around and ran up one dune and over another until he reached the fire, where he stopped. Curly was gone. Her swimsuit remained.
"Yes," said the figure, which appeared in front of him. "The android known to you as Curly Brace. It is being taken back home, where it belongs."
"It? You talk about her like she's not a person!"
"Curly Brace? It is not. It is an android. Just as you are."
Quote gritted his teeth. "Exactly! We're androids! Not robots!"
"Your self-imposed categories are meaningless to me!" The figure boomed. "You WILL come home tomorrow to join your comrade, and you WILL do as I say!
"Fine!" yelled Quote. "Where is this home, anyway?!"
The figure hummed shortly as if it were pleased, but again, it was hard to tell. "The main entrance has been covered for many years by increasing piles of dirt and rock. The only entrances accessible by foot are the exhaust pipes to the far north. They alone still reach out of the ground. They resemble what seem to be caves. Quote remembered the rocky caves from when they had gone exploring, and he recalled the odd sounds emanating from deep inside He assumed that those sounds must have been caused by machinery at work. And to think... All this time, it had been running... Ten years...
"Alright." Quote stood up straight. "Tomorrow, noon, northern caves."
"Correct." At this, the figure flickered, but stayed in place. "I will take my leave now. Remember, when you enter the compound, state your model code."
"... Model code?"
The figure sighed. "SM-1. You are SM-1, code name, Quote."
"SM-1..." Quote pondered the model code... It felt like an identification of sorts... "What does that stand for?" He looked up, but the figure had already disappeared. Quote sighed. He looked back to the fire, to his clothes, then to Curly's swimsuit... And then the gravity of the situation hit him. "Curly's... gone..." He said, slowly. "She's gone... again..." He sank to his knees. The fire was burning low. "... And I might not be able to save her this time." He fell to his hands, cringing. "Why," he said. "Why?! Why did they take her... why did they come now?! ..."
The fire went out. "... Why do I love her so much..."
Notes From the Author
Welcome back, readers! Welcome to the Monday update! I'm back, and I updated on a Monday, and I brought you whole CHUNKS of drama and suspense! I hope you really liked it! It isn't exactly the longest, and I'm kind of bummed about that, but it's definitely not the shortest either! So, that's always good.
Alright, so basically, I've bogged myself down with too many projects, and that's kind of why I haven't been updating. (Also because ACT's [giant tests] were last week, and Don't Starve and WoW are just too damn fun. Sorry) So, that's what's been happening for the past three weeks.
ALSO I tried drawing the scene where Quote and Curly are holding the burning kindling, and the kiss and blah blah, but it was a lot harder than I thought it would be. Perhaps I need to get a good look at the two, then try again. Iunno. Anyway, once I'm done with that, I'll throw it on Tumblr.
AS ALWAYS, thank you so much for taking the time to read, I hope you enjoy it. I will do my best to keep the update schedule from doing this again, WITHOUT A WARNING FIRST. If I'm gonna go on hiatus, I'll let you guys know. Support and feedback are still greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Alaystus
