A tiny giggle echoed down the hall from the library. Looking up from my work I brought home from the Auror's office, I smiled over at George who was working seriously on balancing the books from the Joke shop. He was grumbling under his breath.

"George, you're grumbling. That's so not like you. Why don't you take a break and go play with Dani. I hear her giggling in the library. She's probably found those old stories of Da I wrote." George looked up at me and flashed me a brilliant smile.

"Of course my dear." He crooned sweetly. I giggled in reply. He jumped up and came over to me. Leaning down he gave me a sweet kiss and a wink before heading towards the library. I watched him saunter away with a smile and was thankful for the last six years we've had together since all the events with Voldemort. I absently reached down and ran my fingers over my black scar that still marrs my body. George kisses it every night, telling me that love will fade it. It hasn't faded a bit. Maybe what he means is love fades it's ugliness. Sometimes we have to bear the scars of our love for others as a badge of pride instead of injury I suppose. I smiled broadly as loud laughter started to echo down the hall from the library. My beautiful daughter Dani is like me in so many ways but I'm so happy she has her father's humor and playfulness. I never had a true childhood and I'm so happy to give her one.

"Dee! Come play with us!" George shouted down the hall.

"Ya mommy! Come play pleeeeaaase!" Dani's giggles made it impossible to resist. Following the laughter down the hall, I found them shoving their shoes and scarves on. "Daddy said we could go play outside in the fall leaves mum!"

"Oh did he now? Do you think you can build a bigger pile of leaves than me!?" I challenged and started to put on my shoes and scarf with a grin.

Dani was giggling and jumping from leaf pile to leaf pile as George and I snuggled in our own. His red hair glistened under the October sun and I was grinning ear to ear.

"Fred might come over later." George commented.

"Is Verity coming too?"

"Probably. You think it'll be a problem? I know Annie and Cedric will be here too."

"Nah, Fred is totally over anything he felt for Annie. And Annie is getting along great with Verity since She and Cedric announced their engagement." George chuckled at this.

"Ya, well Verity hasn't been getting along great with Fred since Annie and Cedric announced their engagement." I looked at him and laughed.

"Ah, I see. Miss Verity is getting impatient with Fred."

"Yep!" Suddenly I became aware of Dani's missing giggles and leaf crunching. I jumped to my feet, looking around.

"Dani!?" George joined me in looking for her. I pulled my wand from my ankle harness and started to cast a revealment spell when suddenly-

"Boo!" Her sweet voice shouted from a tree a hundred yards away. I ran to her and scooped her up in my arms.

"You scared me so bad!" I chastised as I squeezed her tight. She wiggled in my arms as George came up behind us.

"I'm sorry mum. I was just playing jokes like daddy and Unkie Fred do." George ruffled her hair and kissed her cheeks.

"It's ok sweet cream. You just surprised us is all. You know your mum is a worry wart." I rolled my eyes at George as he gave me a wink.

"Let's head inside and prepare some snacks for when Unkie Fred, Verity, Annie and Cedric come over."

"Will Unkie Aber come too?!" Dani squealed. I smiled sadly.

"Sorry sweety, Unkie Aber can't visit as much lately since he's been sick. Maybe in a week or two."

With that we went inside to prepare for our guests. The evening was bound to be full of merriment and good food. I was excited to see them all.
