He looked into the window further and then at his hands. A black substance covered them it appeared to be…a normal fabric. But something told him it wasn't. He removed his web cartridges, but yet…here he was hanging from a web.
He swung around town, and he had never been quicker in his movement, his swinging was enhanced. He felt stronger too. And he could test out this strength, for whom else but the Rhino was making his daily rounds crashing through the city.
Spidey swung down to the Rhino and grabbed a large truck with relative ease. "I could never do that before!" he thought to himself. Rhino slammed through the truck and said "You gonna have ta do better than that, kid!"
Spidey smirked and said "That can be arranged!" He then yanked a stop sign straight from the street, and smacked Rhino in the face with it. The hit slammed Rhino into a nearby building. He got back up and said "I-Is that the…best you can do?!"
The black clad wall-crawler laughed and said "Oh I'm just getting started." He then leapt onto Rhinos back and hit him in the spinal column with the sign. He just kept on whacking and whacking. Loud "CLANGS!" and "WHAMS" filled the streets as he just relentlessly hit on and on.
Finally, Rhino fell over. Spider-Man stood over the body and said "I could get used to this." People pointed at him in fear, not knowing who this was. He brushed that off and thought "Pff, whatever. They'll recognize me as Spider-Man again and yet they'll still hate me."
A police car arrived on the scene, and out walked a woman wearing a police uniform. Her hair was brunette and her police badge read Jean DeWolffe. "I want this big grey lummox thrown into Ryker's Island! Specifically the Vault, it's clear no normal prison can hold this idiot." She looked around for Spider-Man, but he was already gone.
"Uhhhh Captain Dewolfe" a fellow officer asked, "Are you alright?" Jean looked to him and said "I wonder where Spider-Man went to. Oh well, it doesn't matter. Officer Carter, I need to continue your search for Sin-Eater. And get someone to take this grey mook to jail, will ya?" Officer Carter nodded and said "Yes mam."
Spidey had swung back into bed and slept. The very next day he felt better than ever. He didn't even have to put on new clothes, the new suit shifted into some for him, but they were black in color. "Oh that is really neat." he said under his breath.
When he walked out of his room, he leaped down the rail of the stairs. Aunt May said while looking "Well someone's awfully perky." Peter said "Something great's been goin' on, Aunt May." May smiled and said "Well that's good news, sweetie. Gwen's at the table already eating breakfast."
He walked over to the table and said "Hey Gwen." Gwen waved and noticed something. "Hey Pete…what's with the all black attire? I never see you wear black." Peter said "Hey, it's better than the baggy clothes you wear all the time, isn't it?" Gwen and May looked over at him in shock. Gwen said "I-I was just asking, Pete. No need to get upset at me…"
Peter shook his head and said "I'm sorry, that just…happened." May said "We all can get…irrational, Peter. I think the bus should be here soon."
And it was there shortly after May said that. Peter and Gwen got on, and they didn't speak for the rest of the ride to school. When they got to school, Harry walked up to them and said "Hey guys, how's it going?" They both just sort of shrugged, still not making eye contact.
"Geez." Harry began "You two having relationship issues?" Before either could respond, Flash butted in and said "Aww is dork one and dork two not having the best of times?" Gwen said "N-no! We're doing just fine, Flash!" Peter glared at Flash and said "Why don't you bug off to your own relationship issues, Flash?"
Flash glared back at Peter and said "Why don't you make me?" Peter smirked and replied with "Well that would require me to care enough about your stupid opinion for me to do anything." Flash shoved Peter, but Peter shoved back. Flash said "Well look who's grown a backbone!" Peter then proclaimed "I've grown more than just a backbone, Flash!"
Gwen held Peter back and said "Peter! This isn't you!" Harry stared in awe at Peter. "Dad thinks I should act like that…" he thought. Flash backed away and said "You're…you're a psycho, Parker. I knew it!" He then ran off as Peter held his head. "I think we should just head to class." He said. Gwen said "Good thinkin'"
Elsewhere, at the same time the Daily Bugle was filled with the ranting of Jameson. "I DON'T CARE, YOU'RE FIRED BROCK!" he yelled with the fury of a thousand suns. "B-but …i-it was Spider-Man! He held me back!" Jameson then said "Oh? Then why did Parker get the pictures?!" Brock then said "But J.J! Parker wasn't even on the scene!" Jameson then yelled "You're out, Brock! Get out of my office take your things with you, and GET OUTTA HERE!"
Eddie frowned and said "Fine, J.J." He left feeling very disgruntled and betrayed. "Spider-Man ruined my life…" he thought "He took my job…but I still have a chance…a chance to get J.J. to rehire me."
This big chance to get back his job was the Sin-Eater, a crazed maniac who went around killing people who were against his "vision" of the law. He thought he could figure out who the Sin-Eater was and it'd be a massive success! Speaking of the Sin-Eater…
He was taking the lives of "sinners" on the streets just a few hours later. By this, he was blowing the brains out of anyone and everyone he came by. Eddie Brock was on the scene, ready to start writing when the Sin-Eater walked into him.
"Who the hell are you, boy?" the crazed "vigilante" asked. "I could ask you the same thing." Eddie replied with. Sin-Eater then pointed his shotgun at Eddie's head and said "Don't play games with me, boy!"
Spider-Man arrived at the scene, luckily and yanked the gun out of Sin-Eater's hands. And then a police car drove up to the scene as well, and again, Jean Dewolfe stepped out.
"That's enough, Sin-Eater." Dewolff demanded in her rough and tumble sounding voice. Sin-Eater looked back at both Spidey and the police captain. "If you were real vigilantes, you'd see that these guys deserve what they got comin' to 'em!" he said as he laughed crazily. Knowing he'd lose this battle, he ran off into the alleyway. Spidey tried chasing him, but it was a dead end and when he got there, he had already escaped.
"We'll get him next time, Web-Slinger." Dewolfe said as she stepped into the alleyway. Spidey looked back at her and asked "Who are you?" Jean then said "Name's Jean Dewolfe, the newest police captain after Captain Stacy bit it to Doctor Octopus." Spidey said "It's a pleasure, Captain." Jean shook her head and said "Please, call me Jean. I don't believe half the stuff the guys at the station say about you, y'know."
Spidey just said "Good to know." She cocked her head and asked "What's with the new duds?" Spidey didn't even look back as he said "Second person to ask about my new clothes. Second person to not get an answer." He then swung out of the alleyway. Dewolfe looked at him as he left and said "He's stern. I got the impression he was the jokester. I'm not complaining, I like stern."
Eddie Brock walked into a church, and noticed someone hollowly confessing something. This someone then ran up to Brock and said "I-I need to tell someone! I-I'm the Sin-Eater!" Eddie said "Oh really? What's your name fella?" The man's unkempt blonde hair swayed as he shakily said "I'm Emil Gregg. I just…need to get that off my chest! Help me!" Eddie nodded and said "Oh I can help ya, alright…"
Back with Parker, he sat on his bed back at home. "I don't get what everyone is complaining about…" he thought alone "I'm acting the way I always do. Maybe I'm tired, I just need some rest…" Peter then fell asleep, but he got back up. He moved out the window as he shifted back into the black Spider-Man suit.
Gwen stepped into his room to say she's forgiven him over earlier, but noticed he was gone. She frowned and thought "Maybe he is right…my clothes are perhaps a little baggy. I could show off maybe a little more. Wear something a little tighter, I mean…outside the times I do wear something tight. These glasses too. They've got to go. Everything's got to go. Even my favorite hairband needs to leave. It's for Peter he'd do the same for me…"
Gwen then stepped out of the room and shut the door.
It was well into the night that Spidey kept on searching for the Sin-Eater, but as he did he didn't talk, no jokes or anything. He remained silent as he kept vigilant watch for Sin-Eater. Something was going on, but what? It wasn't until he found himself at a church that he would find what he was looking for…
