Spider-Man lunged at the Goblin, but the Goblin grabbed him mid lunge, and threw him into the wall. Spidey got back up and shot webs at Goblin's feet. He broke away from the webs and leapt onto his glider. He threw pumpkin bombs and he flew through the old warehouse. BLAM, a pumpkin bomb hit Spider-Man. He slammed into a wall, but he got back up. The Goblin cocked his head and asked "WHY WON'T YOU STAY DOWN?!" Peter shot webs at the glider and yanked it downwards. It crashed as he said "Because I'm not one to give up, Goblin."
Goblin get back up and decided that good ol' fisticuffs were the way to go. He threw a punch at Spider-Man, and then another. Spidey tried punching back, and Goblin grabbed him by the wrists, crushing his webshooters in the process. "You fight hard, boy. But you were never any match for me." He then threw Spidey into the wall for a third time.
"Once again" he began "You shall fall to me. The Green Goblin never fails. Norman Osborn never fails! Gwen was just the beginning if you don't stay down! Your precious aunt will die if I must do what I must. Even my own disappointment of a son I will kill just to upset you. Not like it matters, he never meant anything to me anyway. Nobody means anything to me…except you. You don't have to stay down. You could get back up, and join with me! I'm your best friend, Peter. Nobody has to die anymore. If you just take my hand…and accept me for what I am. We could get revenge on those who wronged us, like Otto Octavius, or anybody else!" Norman then held out his hand. Peter took it and slammed Norman into the wall.
Norm tried getting back up, but instead he met with the fists of Spider-Man. Spider-Man just kept on wailing on the green and purple clad sociopath. WHAM, WHAM, WHAM the Goblin just kept on getting hit by Spider-Man. Spidey then lifted him up and threw him to the other side of the room. He then flipped over to the side of warehouse and grabbed Osborn with his legs. He tossed Osborn back over to the side they were on before, flipping back over there as well.
"YOU STAY AWAY FROM MY FAMILY YOU FREAK!" he yelled as he continued to deliver hits on Osborn, each hit more brutal than the last. "THIS IS BETWEEN YOU AN ME! IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE BETWEEN YOU AND ME! BUT YOU MADE THIS WAR PERSONAL, OSBORN! AND SO I'LL…I'LL—" he stopped. He could see the blood oozing from Norman's mask. Peter removed it, and Osborn was bleeding from the mouth. He chuckled and said "It's…always a personal war, Parker…it's how you step on the little man to become the big man…"
"You're sick." Peter proclaimed "I should kill you, but my better judgment says to let you rot in prison." Norman shook his head and said "I'll just break out, but if you say so…" The crashed glider rose up behind both Peter and Norman. The normal bat face on the front had become mangled into a spike ready to impale.
The glider took neck breaking speeds towards both Peter and Osborn. Peter Spider-Sense had finally caught up with him being tired, and he leapt above the metal contraption of death. Osborn was not so lucky. The glider flew into his abdomen, and he let out a scream, a scream that turned into laughter. As he laughed, more of the crimson liquid bled through his mouth. Osborn said "Do you really think this will kill me, boy? Face it Parker…you'll never be rid of me…Osborn is superior…" He then lowered his head, and his eyes shut. So do the proud men die, crucified not on a cross of gold, but on a humble stake of tin. Or at least Parker believed he died. Maybe Osborn was being honest, maybe he would come back. He didn't want to think about that for now.
He walked out of the warehouse, not proud that he rid the world of this monster, but sad that he was left in a world without Gwen. He tried swinging away, but he couldn't. His webshooters were still crushed. He just crawled to the top of a building and began to cry. "I defeated Osborn…" he thought "So why do I feel so…empty? I avenged Gwen, but was avenging the right thing to do? I don't know, I just…don't know. I respected Norman…I wanted to help, but he was lost. He was too far gone. I liked him, I wanted to save him. But he just killed himself."
Before he could cry any longer, a familiar face was next to him, wrapping her arm around his shoulder. "Hey there champ." The familiar voice said. It was Spider-Woman. "I heard about what happened with the girl you could save. It was a harsh break…but you're taking it pretty bad. What was she…a friend?" Spider-Woman asked.
Spidey shook his head and he said "She was more than a friend, Spider-Woman…she was my girlfriend." The eyes on Spider-Woman's mask went wide. She stopped holding him and stepped back. "P-Peter…?" she asked, rather shocked at this development.
Spidey didn't look at her, and he just asked "How do you know my name?" Spider-Woman took off her mask, and her voice went to a meeker tone, instead of her usual confident voice. In fact the voice sounded…very familiar to Peter as she said "I…can't believe this…Peter look over here."
Peter looked over at Spider-Woman and he saw the face he thought he'd never see again. She flipped down her hood, and it showed her flowing blonde hair, and an unmistakable hairband. The eyes on Peter's mask formed into circles, showing his disbelief for what he saw. "Gwen…that can't be you…is it?" She nodded as she put on her glasses.
Peter said nothing, he just hugged her. Gwen smiled and hugged him back. "I didn't mean to make it look like I died, Pete." She said, about ready to cry. "I really didn't. I could have broken out of Goblin's grasp, but it would have exposed me. I didn't want to worry you over me being Spider-Woman, Pete. But I guess you're Spider-Man so no worries there."
Peter just kept on holding her and he said "It's okay, Gwen. I'm just glad to see you again." Peter then decided to lighten the mood a bit by saying "Hey Gwen. I never realized just how…uhhhh…your body…" Gwen looked at him quizzically and asked "What about it?" He then said "Well…your costume allows me to see a lot more than your clothes do, and your body is just…"
Gwen blushed and said "Well…uhhh…your costume lets me see a lot of your body too and you're very…well, I mean…you're uhm. You've got a nice body, Pete." Peter smiled and said "Normally Spider-Woman is a lot more confident than that, you know."
Gwen giggled. "Well it's easier to show off what you got when behind a mask. Same goes for you, Pete."
"I guess so" he agreed "but still, though. You look wonderful in your costume."
She began to run her hands through her hair, without her mask she was nervous as always. "W-well…thanks Pete, also I should probably point out that your outfit makes your butt look big." Peter looked behind himself, and yes. It did. But he protested anyway "What? N-no! If anything, your outfit makes your butt look big." Gwen turned back and saw it was quite true. Of course she protested and said "No way!" They both then laughed and held each other again. "Need a ride home?" she asked, noticing his web shooter were broken. Peter nodded. "Well…then grab on." Peter held on to her hips, and she turned back when he did. Her face was redder than a tomato and she said "O-oh. I meant like my shoulders, but hold wherever you want to hold on to if you like it." She then swung off, Peter still hanging on.
Back on ground level, Roderick Kingsley walked into the scene of the Goblin's death. He saw the corpse was gone, but the glider was still there. "One must wonder what happened to the body…not that it matters anyway. He went here for a reason…" Kingsley concluded. So he searched the area until he found a secret compartment within. Inside were a spare costume, glider, and various other weapons. But most curious was a vial of Goblin Serum.
Kingsley looked closely at the serum and decided to sip some of it. His muscles expanded through his rather worn down business suit and tore most of it. He flexed and decided that Goblin name was his for the taking! But yet…something wasn't right here. Oh no, being a fashion designer, he decided that the Green Goblin outfit was all wrong. He wanted to make his own name…so he sprayed the purple armored parts orange, and made the green parts blue. Finally, he dyed the green mask into a yellow-ish color and replaced the yellow eye lenses with red ones. He chopped off the ears of the mask, and placed a hood over it before finally adding a nice orange cape to the mix. The process was complete he wouldn't be the Green Goblin…
He'd be the Hobgoblin! Taking control of New York's underground just as the Green Goblin planned! But he'd go about this smarter than Norman did…he wouldn't focus on Spider-Man. He'd focus on the most important part, which was the money.
Hobgoblin stepped on his glider, and flew away into the sky, laughing and more than willing to step on a few toes to get to the top of the criminal world…but sadly, someone else was not on top of any world.
With Norman Osborn dead or at least possibly faking it...Cindy Moon was left alone in her cell within Oscorp. She was abandoned…and the worst part is, she didn't even know it…
