When I wake up again, my head hurts like crazy.
My eyes slowly start to open and I look around.
"You are awake", Beck greets me. He was sitting next to me, holding ny hand tightly.
"What happened?", I ask confused. "Why am I in hospital?"
"We fought", he whispers, looking terrible. "You attacked me and I pushed you. I didn't mean to hurt you but you fell off the bench and hurt your head."
"Where is Amelie?", I start to panick. Beck was supposed to pick her up after all.
"Cat and Tori went to pick her up", he tells me, quietly. "I called her kindergarden teacher and gave her the permission to let Amelie go home with them."
"Why Tori?", I asks him but relax again. "She's smart. She'll figure it out."
"Relax", he strokes my hair. "We'll explain it to her than. She's going to understand it. It doesn't change anything."
"Beck we already told too many people", I point out to him.
"Jade come on", he sighs. "Let's not fight now."
"I just hope Tori is a better babysitter than Cat", I mutter, closing my eyes again.
"Tori called a while ago", Beck explains me. "I talked to Amelie and she was very excited about spending time with them. They took her to the zoo."
"I should take her to the zoo more often", I tell him, quietly. "Maybe I should really drop out of school to be with her."
"Wow", Becks eyes widen. "I think you hit your head pretty hard."
"Beck I am serious", I look up at him. "I regret it."
"Oh baby girl", he crawls in with me, pulling me in his arms. "We talked about it so long."
"I miss my mum", I sigh, curling up to him. "My dad misses her too. He hates me for ruining his life."
"Jade", he mutters, stroking my hair. "Your dad chose this life. He offered it eventhough he knew that your mother would leave."
I look over at him, quietly. "When can I go home?"
"The doctors just wanted to keep you here until you wake up", he smiles at me, kissing my head.
"Good", I nod at him, getting up. I follow him through the hospital and to the exit.
"Miss West please wait a second", stops me a doctor. "I'd like to check on your head before you leave."
"Is that really necessary?", I groan annoyed. "I just want to go home. My little baby sister is with a giggly red head and an annoying wannabe singer so you understand that I want to get her."
"Miss you should still recover today", he tells me, looking at my wound. "And you are not allowed to drive."
"I'll take care of her", Beck promises and wraps an arm around my shoulders.
"It's your fault that I am hurt in the first place", I glare at him, shrugging his arm off.
"Really Jade?", Beck groans, frustrated. "You want to fight again?"
I just thank the doctor and walk to Beck's car. "Drive me home."
My ex gets in the car sighing, driving to Vega's house. We get out and walk to the door.
"Jadey!", Amelie squeels happily running past Tori who opened the door.
"Hey baby", I pick her up, kissing her cheek. "How was your day?"
"We were at the zoo!", she calls excited. "It was so funny."
"That's amazing", I sit down on the sofa with her. "Were Cat and Tori nice to you?"
Amelie nods, smling. "Tori bought me ice cream and Cat told me stories to every animal. Oh and they sang a song with me."
"That's great", I laugh loudly. "So how about we go home now and get you ready for going to Beck?"
"Will you come with us?", she asks me, happily.
"No cutie pie", I shake my head, kissing her head again. "It will just be you, Beck and Robbie."
"Robbie?", she frowns, looking startled. "Will Rex be there too?"
"No, Rex will stay at home", Beck strokes her hair, gently. "Don't worry, I'm going to protect you."
"Okay", she giggles, climbing on his lap.
He immediately wraps his arms around her, smiling. I watch them, quietly. They look so cute together it's just adorable.
"Jade will you still go dogsitting with me?", asks Cat me, sitting across from us.
"Sure why not", I shrug, nodding. "I told you I'd come."
"I don't think that's such a good idea", Beck tells me. "You heard the doctor."
"We are going to watch a dog", I roll my eyes. "I am going to be fine."
"Be careful though", he mutters. "Come on now. Robbie will be over in an hour."
"Okay", I get up and walk over to Tori. "Thank you for watching Amelie."
"You are welcome", she smiles at me. "She is so adorable."
"Thank you", I grin at her. "Would you like to come over for a sleepover tomorrow evening? I expect you at my place at five pm."
"Okay", Vega nods, hugging me before I can stop her.
I immediately push her away and go to the door. "Are you coming now or not?", I asks Beck impatiently.
"We are right here", he walks up to me with Amelie who grabs my hand.
"See you later Cat", I wave her goodbye. "I'll pick you up at seven o'clock."
"You are not supposed to drive", Beck frowns, looking at me worried.
"Do I look like I care?", I raise my eyebrow, annoyed.
"Do you want Amelie to grow up without any mother figure?", he conters, pointing to her.
"No of course not", I mutter, running a hand through her hair.
"I'll pick you up at Beck's than", Cat giggles
I just nod and get in Beck's car while he straps Amelie in and than drives to my house. We get Amelie's stuff for the night ready and go to his RV where Robbie is already waiting. Lucky for him, Rex is not here.
"Hey you three", he greets us, smiling.
"Hey", I roll my eyes, carrying Amelie inside. "Say hi, cutie pie."
"Hi, Robbie", she yawns a bit as she cuddles into me.
Beck sets her overnight bag down as he talks to Robbie about what they should do with Amelie.
Right on time, Cat knocks on the door. I let her in, quickly and pull on my jacket.
"I expect you to call me if something is wrong", I warn the two boys. "I don't want her to complain about you tomorrow, got it? So you better keep her happy and tug her in right on time. I don't want her to stay up too late and be grumpy when she goes to Beck's sister."
"Don't worry Jade", Beck rubs my arm. "We'll take good care of her."
"That's what I am worried about", I groan. "I know my little one. She's a West after all and she's just as devious as me. She's going to pout a bit about not wanting to go to sleep and you let her stay up."
"That won't happen", Beck says, rolling her eyes. "I've been with a West for four years. I think I know all tricks."
"Yeah as if", I laugh, kissing Amelies head before handing her to Beck. He quickly kisses me much to my anger. I kiss him back and than pull away. "Have fun, baby girl", I wave at my little sister and than at the boys. "Have fun."
"Bye", they wave us as Cat and I leave.
The house of Cat's mother's boss is really amazing. It is full of expensive stuff and his dog is really ccute, I mean Amelie would like him.
"So Jadey you and Beck are still not really talking to each other without the situation escalating?",
Cat asks me, gently.
"Isn't it obvious? I had to get my head stiched up", I shrug. "I wanted to talk to you though."
"Okay", she nods, smiling a bit. "What is it about?"
"I would like to know how you feel about the break-up", I tell her gently.
She frowns a bit and pulls the dog closer to her "I don't like to see you unhappy. You are my best friend after all."
"I want you to answer my question", I sigh, looking at her worried.
"I feel terrible", she starts to cry, hugging me. "You two are my friends. I don't want my friends to fight all the time. You two love each other so it is even worse."
"I am sorry, cutie pie", I rock her gently. "I know it is very hard for you. I feel very bad for doing this to you, specially with your parents."
"I just want Beck and you to be happy again", she clings to me. "You are perfect for each other."
"I know, Kitty Cat", I sigh. "I'll leave the city a few days with Amelie. I think I just need a break from my life and I'd love to spent more time with Amelie too."
"I understand that", she mutters, sniffing as she pulls away from me. "But you are going to come back again right? Just a few days this time not eight months, right?"
"I promise that I'll only stay a away one week", I get up and zapping through the channels. "So what do you want to do now?"
"I don't know", she shrugs. "Let's just watch tv."
We watch tv quietly not really talking until Cat's phone starts ringing.
"It's Beck", she frowns.
"Give me the phone", I take it out of her hand roughly, answering the call. "What did you do to Amelie?"
"Hey Jade", he answers uncomfortable.
"Don't you hey Jade me", I snap. "What happened?"
"Don't worry Amelie is fine", he sighs. "It's just that we had an accident. Cat and you need to come to hospital immediately."
"We'll be right there", I hang up, feeling myself start to panick. "Cat pack your stuff. The boys and Amelie had an accident."
"Are they hurt?", she grabs the dog, putting it in her bag. Fortunately it is a really small dog and Cat has a big bag.
"I don't know", I rush to her car. "Hurry up."
We arrive at the hospital fifteen minutes later.
"Miss West is everything okay?", the doctor from the morning asks me. "Is something wrong with your head?"
"I am looking for my daughter", I call almost hysterical. "Amelie West."
"This way, Miss West", he leads us to a cabin. "She's okay just a few scratches."
I can hear her crying and immediately rush to her. She was curled up to Beck who was trying to calm her down. "Hey Amelie, baby girl", I wrap my arms around her small frame gently. "I am here. Are you okay?"
"Jadey", she sobs, hugging me tightly. Beck wraps one of his arms around me too, kissing the top of my head. "I was so scared."
"It's okay", I whisper, rubbing her back. "You don't have to be scared. I am here and so is Beck."
She nods still crying as she cuddles closer to Beck and me. I look up at him, he had a very badly swollen eye. "Are you okay? How's Robbie?"
"Robbie has an broken wrist and nose", he whispers to me. "The doctors are jsut putting a cast on it. I am okay just a black eye that's all. The doctor already told you Amelie's fine, I guess. She just had a few scratches from the broken glass."
"What happened?", Cat asks as she walks over to us.
"Amelie was hungry so we decided to go to McDonalds", Beck explains us. "Some guy oversaw a red light and crashed into us. It wasn't my fault and neither was it Robbie's."
"I know", I kiss him gently. "I am glad that the three of you are fine."
"Me too", he kisses me back, stroking my hair.
We both look down at Amelie who has fallen asleep. I kiss her forehead gently. "I should call my dad to tell him about it."
"Okay", Beck nods, kissing my cheek. "I love you, Jade."
"I love you too, Beck", I smile at him before walking outside. Cat stays with them, waiting for Robbie so I offer to call her mum's boss.
I dial my dad's number and wait for him to answer.
"Shapiro?", a woman answers me.
"Hey this is Jade West", I reply confused. "Could I please speak my father?"
"Of course", she says, calling for my dad.
"Care to explain me why a woman answered your phone?", I immeadiately ask my dad as he answers.
"She's my girlfriend", he sighs. "I was going to tell Amelie and you once I return. You go to school with her son Robbie. He's one of your boyfriend's friends."
"Robbie is my friend too", I frown. "You can't date his mum. I am not okay with it."
"I don't care", he snaps at me. "Why did you call anyway?"
"Oh", I sigh remebering. "There was an accident. Amelie was in a car crash with Robbie and Beck. She's fine but I thought I should tell you."
"Why was she in a car with them?", he frowns, sounding really concerned. "Where have you been?"
"I was with Cat", I tell him, quietly. "Beck wanted to spent some time with Amelie. Robbie was at his place too and they wanted to take Amelie to McDonald's. They were hit by a car but thankfully Amelie has only a few scratches."
"Do you want me to come home?", he asks me, gently. We never had a good relationship but as soon as it came to Amelie we got along great.
"No it's fine", I shake my head eventhough he can not see me. "I'm going to stay at hospital with her overnight and tomorrow she's going to her new friend while I have detention."
"You are leaving my granddaughter with a stranger?", he snaps, angry.
"No I am actually leaving her with her biological aunt", I roll my eyes. "Beck's sister is Beck from Canada with her son. Amelie and him met in kindergarten and he was over yesterday. Beck forced me into letting Karen watch her. She's a teacher and promised to keep Amelie away from her mother so it'll be fine. She doesn't know the truth though."
"Okay than", my father sighs. "I'll try to be home as soon as possible."
"Amelie and I won't be home", I answer him. "I am taking her on vacation. We are leaving on sunday."
"Where are you going?", he asks me, sounding not happy about it. "Who is going anyway?"
"Just Amelie and me", I mutter, sadly. "I am taking her to Phoenix. I need some time off and I think you were right, dad."
"About what?", he wants to know, taken by surprise. "Me being egoistic. I spent much too little time with Amelie. I think I am going to drop out of school until Amelie is older. I should be there for her and not focus on a career, I'll never have."
"Are you sure you are okay, Jade?", my father asks me, gently. "You sound so different."
"I just realized how precious my time with Amelie is", I whispers. "This morning I was in hospital because of a laceration and now I almost lost my baby girl because I spent time with my friend instead of her."
"Jade please let us talk when I come home, okay?", he says. "Go on vacation and when you return we talk."
"Yes, dad", I nod, whipping my eyes. "I should tell Mrs Shapiro what happened."
"Okay", he sighs, handing the phone back to his girlfriend.
"Jade", she frowns. "What happened?"
"Robbie was in a car accident", I tell her, quietly. "He has a broken wrist and nose but he'll be fine. I'll tell him to call you."
"Okay", she says. "Thanks for telling me."
"You're welcome", I shrug before hanging up.
I quickly call Cat's mum's boss and than go inside again.
The doctor allows me to stay with Amelie for the night so they can make sure she's okay. Robbie and Beck have to stay too and somehow Cat persuded the doctor's to let her stay too.
We all get to stay in one room what I am pretty thanful for as I don't really like hospitals. I stay by Amelie's side the whole time not able to sleep.
I couldn't image what would have happened if I lost her and Beck in that accident. They are the two most important person's in this world to me. Just the thought of losing them makes me cry. I really need to change things in my life. I need to make up with Beck and apologize for being such a bitch and I need to be a better mother well sister for Amelie.
It's better for all of us if Amelie never finds out the truth. She would just hate me for not being there for her as much as I should. Let's face the truth as a sister I may be okay but as a mother I would just suck. I rather want her to think of me as a good big sister than a bad mummy.
