I don't know about you guys but September 9th cannot come quick enough, although I wish it wasn't the #finalride :(
Thanks to all you lovely people who have followed and favourited the story in my absence, I hope to update more frequently now I can start getting me weekly fix of our favourite Son! Anyways, Lenny's fate in sharp closing in, this chapter is just a short one to ease every one in and the real drama is set to come . Soon!
Fastest girl in Town
Lenny sat tapping her foot against the steel leg of the office table she was sat on, there was no beat to follow it was simple an outburst of nerves. Her knuckles were white from grubbing the side of the table and her breaths were short and laboured. she had been sat there for what felt hours just staring at the doors that led into the Chapel, she needed to know what was being said in there, it didn't sit well with Lenny that her mother's fate lay in other people's hands even if her brother was one of them.
Letting out a frustrated groan Lenny dragged her hands through her hair before jumping down off the table to pace the floor. She had been so fixated on the Chapel door that Gemma and Abel's presence had been long forgotten until she saw the older women sitting at the table across room rocking the sleeping babe in his car seat.
"You okay sweetheart?" Gemma could see Lenny was restless but knew that Jax would formulate a plan of action she just needed to get Lenny on side before she wore a hole in the Teller-Morrow office carpet.
"My Mom," Lenny turned to face Gemma, " do you think she's ..." the colour drained from Lenny's face as she thought of the sickening reality she could be facing. She felt Gemma's arms wrap around her holding her tight, Gemma shushed the worried girl as she tried to calm her.
Holding Lenny at arms length Gemma made sure to catch her gaze, " SAMCRO won't let this go lightly Lenny, you gotta trust Jax sweetie," she caught the flash of doubt in Lenny's eyes, "besides , I've yet to meet a Sawyer that goes down with a damn good fight!
Abel's soft cries broke the silence between the two woman which Lenny was thankful for. She wasn't used to people looking out for her in the way SAMCRO looked after family, Lenny couldn't help but think of the potential war Jax was asking his brothers to take on in helping her once again, her mind raced with thoughts of returning to Arizona alone to seek out whoever was toying with her and have this out. Deep down they all knew this was the work of Nate's gang and there was only one way to end this nightmare.
Glancing over at Gemma who was preoccupied with Abel Lenny saw the perfect opportunity to silently leave the office and head for her truck, climbing in she cast one glance back at Teller-Morrow before pulling out of the car lot.
Jax struck the table with the gavel, it was settled their brothers in Arizona would sniff out Gina's kidnappers and Jax, Bobby and Tig would ride over state to put a permanent end to the misery these bastards were causing the females closest to SAMCRO. Jax had never felt rage quite like the one that was slowly simmering inside of him right now, some unknown face was terrorising his woman and he could think of nothing better than to squeeze the life out of them as they begged for mercy. The thought of any one causing his Lenny-Ray any harm brought about a red haze that could cause a hurricane of trouble. He could see the toll the whole episode was taking on Bobby who was normally the last one wanting to storm in guns blazing, the possibility of losing his niece and sister was not an option that the Redwood Original was willing to even consider let alone discuss and thankfully the whole brotherhood agreed.
Lightening up a cigarette Jax headed out the Chapel to inform Lenny he'd be heading back to Arizona to get her mother whilst she hide out with Gemma safe in Charming, he noticed her car was gone and his frustration was confirmed when his mother explained how Lenny had tore out of the car park before Gemma had nloticed.
Groaning in frustration Jax stamped out his smoke before slinging his leg over his bike kicking the engine to life, he shouted above the roar of the engine about how he would call him mother when he found Lenny.
Jax couldn't help but feel annoyed she had left Teller-Morrow, he was doing everything to keep her safe from harm but it seemed Lenny like nothing more than to throw herself head first into it. All he had asked of her all this time was to trust him but it seemed Lenny was incapable of trusting anyone no matter how many times Jax proved his worth.
Pulling up behind her car at Bobby's house he noted how erratically it had been parked on the drive, clearly Lenny wasn't planning on staying long. He didn't bother with knocking and just pushed the door open to begin his search of the house to find his woman.
He could hear her upstairs in the bedroom and followed the noise, pushing the door open with his foot he was slightly aghast at what he found. Lenny was stood with Bobby's personal gun stash cast about the bed and was checking the ammo before selecting her piece.
"What the fuck are you doing?" His blue eyes had a glaze of confusion as he looked from Lenny to the guns strewn across the bedspread.
"What I should have done in the very beginning, Jax. I'm going to Arizona to end this," Lenny was so cool and calm as she applied the safety to the gun in her hand before slipping it into the back of her jeans under her shirt.
"Like hell you are! Put that gun back Lenny! I told you I'm gonna sort this and thats What I'm gonna do!" Jax couldn't hide his shock.
Lenny crossed the bedroom to stand in front of Jax as she tried to calm him by placing a hand on his forearm as she smiled sadly " Jax, this whole mess is all my fault and its not gonna stop until Nate's guy's get what they want. I don't want any more blood shed because of what I did," Lenny had thought long and hard whilst they had been in the Chapel, there really was only one ending to this nightmare.
"You don't get how this works Lenny. No one, not a soul, gets away with threatening a son or their old lady! Who ever these shits are don't know who they are messing with! You are not doing anything, SAMCRO will end this," he brought his hands up to cradle Lenny's face, desperately trying to make her see sense.
Lenny couldn't help the smile that graces her lips as Jax referred to her as his old lady, but it only made her sadder about her decision.
"You can't do that, you have a son now Jax,"
"I don't care Lenny,"before Jax could finish his sentence he felt her hand connect with his cheek and instinctively his hand rubbed where she had struck him.
"Don't you dare! What about Abel, Jax? He needs his Daddy . We both lost out dad's lost and look at us?" Lenny's voice was quiet and sad as she considered what a sad sorry pair they actually were, "You don't want that for your son and I don't deserve you. I'm a horrible person and I've caused all these problems for SAMCRO, I don't even belong here . I should have stayed away after that summer! And Abel would have you and Tara to look after him and you'd be happy," Lenny didn't care that she was crying, "I ruined all of that, I've ruined everything," she leant into the strong arms that wrapped themselves around her holding her close as the sobs shook through her body, taking controlled breaths Lenny tried to calm her self. She could hear Jax mumbling into her hair about how she was the strongest woman he knew and how he needed her to be strong for a little while longer.
Wiping at the tears in eyes Lenny looked up at Jax, she could see how determined he was to end her nightmare and keep her safe. And deep down she knew his ultimate goal was to protect Abel from all the shit he had dealt with growing up around SAMCRO, they weren't horrible people but in fact good people capable of doing horrible things for the right reasons.
After calming Lenny down Jax had left her sat on the couch as he made her a cup of tea so he could pack her a bag, he had no delusions that nothing he could say would make her stay in Charming so he figured so long as she understood his conditions then she could come to Arizona and find the closure she so desperately needed. He should have been worried at how easily Lenny fell in to club life, just like Alice fell into the rabbit hole, it didn't feel forced but rather like she had always been there. It was a welcome feeling after spending the last few years trying to convince Tara of his duties and explaining his choices. He dropped the bag at the foot of the stairs and headed to the yard as he noticed Lenny wasn't in the front room, he found her sitting on Bobby's swinging bench as she toked on her cigarette swinging back and forth.
"You okay darling?" Jax lowered himself next to Lenny and took the cigarette from her hands before inhaling some of the sweet nicotine.
"I'm gonna be fine," she twisted her head to face Jax in a sombre way, " I'm not leaving Arizona until this is done , Jax. I'm tired of what I did hanging over my head and I'm sure as hell sick of wondering who is gonna come after me. So promise me, you won't make me come home to Charming until this is done!"
Jax smiled knowing she considered Charming her home, a home she would share with him, Abel and SAMCRO. This journey to Arizona was gonna be a tough one and he couldn't be sure of how things would pan out but he was sure Lenny-Ray Sawyer was worth it. And he never meant any thing more than the next words he uttered before placing a kiss to her forehead and holding her close in the cold Charming evening air, "I promise,"
