First, I am so sorry it's been so long since I updated, but I've already finished the next chapter and it will be posted in less than 24 hours! Anywho, I love you guys! Enjoy!

It was strange how normal our life had become. Other than the fact that Loki was an Asgardian god, it was almost like we were an ordinary... no. Not a family.

Still, it was difficult to remember exactly what life was like before I met Loki.

We never discussed the night he carried me up to bed, but I noticed that Loki wasn't making an effort not to touch me anymore. We'd brush elbows while sitting on the couch or cooking, even nudge each other while arguing sarcastically.

It was a weird kind of normal, but it was our normal.

Several weeks passed of us doing basically the same thing, trapped inside by the relentless snow and cold. It probably would've been mind-numbingly boring with anyone other than Loki, but somehow I didn't go insane in the farmhouse.

A few weeks into the new year Fury contacted me with a proposal. Thor was coming back to Earth and would be visiting a woman named Jane Foster after stopping by SHIELD to discuss a new project with the director. We could meet Thor when he went to see Jane, in a little town in New Mexico. I told Fury I'd let Loki know about the plan. His relationship with his family wasn't great, I knew, but Loki had to miss his brother by now, right? I was desperate for warmth and being able to go outside without several layers of clothing.

"Loki, I have a surprise!" I yelled to him from the living room. I heard the door to the communications room open and close and Loki's footsteps traveling down the hallway and stairs.

"What might that be?" he asked as he walked into the living room.

I smiled. "We're going on a trip."

"To where?" Loki questioned, eyebrows raised.

"New Mexico," I answered. "Thor's going to visit some scientist and Fury said we could meet him in-"

"Puente Antiguo," Loki said tensely. "No."

"What? Why?" How did he know the town's name? Fury had said it was very small and almost unknown to most Americans, much less a god from another world.

"I have no desire to see Thor. Especially not there."

"What if we just stop to say hi and then do some sightseeing? We don't have to spend the whole time with Thor."

"There is nothing for us to see there." Loki turned to walk away.

"How would you know? Have you been there?" He was being ridiculous.

Loki turned to face me. "I have, actually. Thor has as well. But of course SHIELD would never tell you of their favorite Asgardian's violent mishaps."

"What..." I frowned, "What do you mean?"

"Your perfect hero was banished by Odin," Loki spat out. "He nearly destroyed that little town."

"No..." Thor wouldn't, would he?

"Yes, dear, he did. Odin banished him for attacking another realm. Thor was sent to earth powerless and ended up in Puente Antiguo. The stress was too much for Odin and he fell into Odinsleep, so the throne became mine."

"You were king?"

"The rightful king! I was merely protecting my throne and Thor decimated the town."

"Wait, what do you mean by protecting your throne?" Loki froze.

"I... I sent a Destroyer to stop Thor."

"You did what?!"

"Thor would never be a good king! I could not let him return to Asgard and take my throne!"

I backed away from Loki, shocked. "How could you do something like that?"

He reached toward me. "Please, Megan, I-"

"NO!" I screamed, "GET AWAY FROM ME, YOU MONSTER!" His face went white and he looked heartbroken.

"I'm sorry. I'll... I'll leave..." Loki turned and walked out the front door, his shoulders drooping and head down. I had no idea he could look so defeated.

What did I just do? It was the middle of January, negative thirty degrees, and Loki hadn't grabbed a coat. I mean, he wasn't human, so he wouldn't be as affected by the cold, but it still wouldn't be good for him.

I sighed, already feeling horrible for the fight that was really both of our faults, and started bundling up. I put Loki's enormous coat on over mine and grabbed an extra hat and mittens, along with a flashlight. It was rapidly growing darker and I had no idea where Loki was headed. At least the snow would make it a little easier to follow his path.

I stepped outside and cringed as the extreme cold seemed to pull the air out of my lungs. I had to find Loki soon. His footprints led toward the back of the yard. He had probably gone into the small forest behind the house.

I started searching the woods, wishing I had worn yet another coat. I had crossed over my own footprints several times and lost Loki's trail. It was completely dark now, and the bare trees blocked most of the little light the crescent moon offered. I forced myself to keep walking through the snowdrifts, my limbs growing heavy from the cold and the effort of pushing through almost two feet of snow.

I had almost given up when my flashlight caught a patch of green near the base of a tree. Loki. I ran as fast as I could, nearly falling several times before I got to the tree he was sitting against.

His skin was blue. Very blue.

I was too late.

Oops.

Like I said, the next chapter will be up sometime tomorrow.
