"Will your witch be able to pull this off?"

"Yes."

"If she can't?"

"Said he with little faith," Caroline said, walking faster.

He grabbed her shoulders and stopped her from walking away from him. "I have all the faith in the work in a Bennett witch, rest assured love, but there's the issue whether your witch can complete the spell. It's a large spell for a witch her size, and seeing as you two are so close, I'm not sure you realize the gravity of the situation," He said.

"Oh I realize it perfectly well Klaus," She said coolly. "Yes, it's a big spell for someone her size, and yes, we are close, she's my family. You may not have faith in your family, but I have faith in mine."

She turned away and continued walking, shocking him enough to keep him standing there, watching her walk away. He quickly caught up to her and stood in front of her, preventing her from going on.

"Whether I have faith in my family is not the issue at hand, the issue at hand is whether your witch can pull off a spell that someone with twice her experience wouldn't even contemplate trying."

"She can do it."

"While it's uncertain whether or not I have faith in my family, it is certain I have faith in you Caroline, so if you say your witch can do it, so be it."

It was Caroline's turn to stare at him with a mixture of shock and confusion, her mouth parting slightly. "What?"

"Is that such a shock to you? That I have more faith in the women that betrayed me rather than in my own siblings?"

"I don't- I don't understand," She said, looking up at him. "Ever since you found out about who I really way you've treated me like I'm worthless. What changed?"

"What changed," He said, stepping closer, "was this."

She shivered at the feeling of him running his hand down her back before smoothing his hand back under her shirt. "What? Of seeing what Mikael did to me? So this is out of pity?" She went to take a step back, but his grip tightened and he pulled her closer, preventing her from pulling away. "I don't want your pity Klaus, and if that's all this is about, if it's all that it's going to be, then is needs to stop," She said, trying to pull away.

He grabbed her forearms and pulled her closer to him, demanding her attention. "It was out of realization," He said. Her brows furrowed and she starred up at him, waiting for him to continue. He let Caroline had never seen from him before. He sighed and turned around to face her. "My family has been nothing but hateful to you, including myself, and yet you were willing to put your life on the line for my sister. You went, even though you knew what could have happened."

Caroline closed her eyes at the feeling of his fingers tracing over her scars, not familiar with this gentle side to him. She opened her eyes at the feeling of his lips softly brushing against hers. He pulled back and starred down at her, cupping her check with one hand.

"Let's get that spell to your witch, shall we?" He rasped.

She slowly licked her lips and continued starring up at him, unsure of what to do. What did all of this mean? What was Klaus trying to say? This was all too much to handle at the moment, after all, they had bigger fish to fry, didn't they? But wouldn't they always? When would she have the moment to handle all of this?

"I don't understand any of this Klaus," Caroline said, scrubbing a hand over her face.

"Caroline."

No, no no. Why did he have to say her name like that? Why did he have to say it with his beautiful accent and say it with so much feeling.

"I can't do this anymore Klaus," She said, all of her walls breaking down.

"Do what Caroline?" He asked gently, stepping closer to her. She took a step back, needing the distance.

"This!" She exclaimed, throwing her arms to the side. "Us, whatever we are. If I take a second for myself to think about all this, then I feel like everything going to fall apart, and we can't afford that."

"Apparently you've been in charge for too long Caroline," Klaus said, taking slow, alculated steps towards her. "You fear losing that control because you fear if you do, everything will fall apart. What happens if someone else took it from you? Didn't give you a choice?"

"You already did," She muttered softly. He looked at her with confusion and a raised eyebrow. "Simply by existing Klaus, you take all the control away from me. Ever since I met you in that disgusting bar in Georgia. You dominated every part of my life, inside and out. My thoughts and actions, my words, my body. Everything. The only thing that I have control of anymore is us."

"What would happen if you let that go as well?" He asked.

"I would fall hopelessly and madly in love with you."

He stepped up to her until they were just a breath away, lips inches apart. "Let go Caroline," He whispered.

She starred up at him, all the desire and passion and feelings she had for him came flying all at her, and what happened next, there was no stopping it. Their lips crashed together while Caroline jumped up and wrapped her hers around his waist, pressing her core against the hard planes of his stomach.

He suddenly rushed forward and things blurred by. They came to a halt and Caroline felt herself being slammed against a tree. She groaned in discomfort, but that was quickly replaced with pleasure due to Klaus's wondering hands.

He was going to be the death of her, and to be honest, she was okay with that.

"She was so brave," Rebekah muttered quietly. "She took everything Mikael gave her."

"From the looks of the scars on her back, she's use to it," Kol muttered.

"I don't think you can ever get use to that," Bonnie muttered.

"Our father has lost it," Rebekah said.

"He lost it years ago Bekah," Kol said.

"No, I mean really lost it this time Kol," She insisted. "He believes that this is one big plot formed by Caroline, and that she's really on his side and plans on betraying us in the end."

"How do you know all of this Rebekah?" Elijah asked quietly.

"He told me."

FLAHSBACK

"Why haven't you killed me yet?" Rebekah asked.

"In order to do that I need a white oak stake, which is currently in Caroline's possession," Mikael replied.

"Then what are you going to do with me?"

"I'm going to kill you."

"But you just said-" Rebekah said confused.

"Yes, Caroline has the white oak stake, but she will be arriving here shortly and will be bringing it with her."

Rebekah starred at him in utter confusion, and he sighed.

"Don't you get it Rebekah? Caroline has never been on your side, she is simply pretending until the right moment, then we shall finish you all once and for all. Together."

"What?" Rebekah choked.

"It's a brilliant plan on her behave, and perfectly executed. Not telling me her plans were genius, left zero percent chance of fail."

FLASHBACK ENDED

"This just keeps getting better and better." Alex muttered, tugging at his hair.

"I think he's in love with her," Rebekah added, biting her lip.

"Now I'm afraid you've lost your mind," Kol said.

"You didn't hear the way he spoke of her Kol, the way his eyes lit when he said her name. I thought it was just his obsession with her being on his side, but the more he spoke of her the more it became clear."

"You've gone mad!" Kol exclaimed, standing up.

"And you're trying to push all of this to the side like it's not happening!"

"How could you possible know he's in love with her?"

"I heard the way he spoke of her Kol."

"Oh yes, queen of love who falls for any lad that comes along and smiles at her. You must be an expert of it at this point."

"How dare you!"

"Enough!" Elijah shouted. "You both are acting like children when our father is basically breathing down our doorsteps! Get ahold of yourselves."

Elijah focused on Alex now, who wasn't even looking at anyone, and seemed to be focusing on the ground. "Is it true?"

Alex looked up and Elijah, pushing himself off the wall. "Is what true?"

"Is Mikael in love with Caroline?"

"Yes."

"I'm going to be sick," Kol muttered.

"Me too," Bonnie said.

"How are you sure of this?" Elijah asked.

"I've travelled with them for over 2 centuries, I've seen the look in his eyes when he looks at her, and it is beyond the fatherly type."

"How long?"

"You can't exactly pin point a date on something like that Elijah," Alex frowned. "It doesn't matter anyone."

"Actually it does. See, our father is dangerous as it is, but if he is truly in love with Caroline, and have been for a while, that makes him all the more dangerous."

"Is Caroline safe?" Bonnie asked.

"Is any of us?" Kol muttered quietly.

"We need to go back," Caroline moaned while Klaus trailed kisses down her stomach. "Klaus," she said, tugging on his hair.

He came back up to her level, nuzzling her jaw. "No," He said, and started the journey back down.

She forced him back up and flipped them so she was on top. "We need to get the spell to Bonnie and everyone else. Did you forget that Mikael is on the lose?"

"I have more important things on my mind then Mikael," Klaus said, running a finger over her collarbone, eyeing her bare chest. "Must we?"

"We must," Caroline said, smiling apologetically, getting off him to change.

It took a while for them to get back dressed, seeing as they kept stealing extra kisses and touched. Finally they were both dressed and where sharing one last intense kiss that could have easily undressed them once again, but Caroline pulled away before it could happen.

"You never answered my question," She said quietly. "Why did you have a change of heart over this? Over us? You said realization, but I don't get it."

"You're beautiful, strong, and full of light, I fancy you Caroline," He muttered. "I was upset with you for the longest time because I felt like you had betrayed me, and then I came to a realization. You weren't betraying me, you were protecting me. Something that is foreign to me, even when it comes to my siblings. I realized that once I saw what Mikael did because you were protecting Rebekah, much like you protected me. Seeing what you were willing to put yourself through, just for my family…."

He didn't finish what he had to say, he didn't have to, he had said enough. This was his way of apologizing to her with all he had done, and it certainly wasn't enough, they both knew it, but for the moment, it would do.

"Alex?"

"I'm not in the mood Rebekah."

She jerked back in surprise and starred at the back of him. "What?"

"It's been a long night Rebekah," He began, turning around.

"You don't think I don't bloody well know that? I was present during all of it," She bristled.

"Then you know how exhausting it is. Can we talk in the morning?"

"Excuse me?"

"Why are you acting like this?"

"Why are you?' She shot back. They stood there and stared at each other for awhile, neither one of them saying anything.

"I don't want to fight," he said gently. "I just need to be alone."

"What about me?" she asked.

"What about you Rebekah?" he sighed.

"Have you forgotten where I've been for the past week?"

"No, I didn't. My sister wears the barks on her back because of it."

"That's it isn't it," Rebekah whispered. "You're in love with her too, aren't?"

"Don't be ridiculous," He scoffed.

"You look at her the same way I look at you," Rebekah said, hugging herself. "You look at her with the same love I look at you with."

"You're being silly Rebekah," Alex sighed, running a hand through his hair.

"You can't even deny it, can you?" She asked. He didn't say anything and just stood there, looking at her. "I'm standing her, telling you I love you, and you can't even deny the fact that you're in love with someone else."

"I never asked you to love me Rebekah," He said.

She made a noise of pain and stumbled back, tears falling from her eyes. "But you certainly didn't stop me."

She ran out of the room without a word, tears streaming down her face, and Alex let her go without a word.

Rebekah had her head hung low, nursing her drink in one hand while the other gripped the bar counter in a tight grip. Alcohol helped nurse a broken heart, she knew this very well. One thing Kol was right about, at this point, she was an expert at love, but she knew more about heart break.

She couldn't get over the look on his face. It was just so cold, so distant. He never looked at her like that, and she hoped he never did it again. But what did it matter, they were done, over with. He was in love with another woman, someone Rebekah couldn't compete with.

She knocked her drink back in one gulf and motioned to the bartender for a refill. The more she drank, the number the pain became.

"Rough night?"

"You have no idea," She muttered, without looking up.

"I think I do."

She looked over at him and instantly regonized him. "Stefan Salvatore."

"That would be me," he muttered, getting a drink from the bartender. "Heartbroken and all."

"Looks like I'm in the same boat as you," Rebekah said.

"Did he cheat?"

"Not physically, no."

Stefan gave her a confused look and she sighed slightly. "He was in love with another women."

"It could be worse."

"I don't see how."

"My ex cheated on me with my brother. I think she was in love with him too," Stefan said.

"You use to date the doppelganger, right?" Rebekah asked.

"Yupp. You'd think I would have learned the first time when I dated Kathrine."

"Love is over rated," Rebekah sighed.

"I can't agree with you on that one."

"How can't you?"

"Something is starting to change my mind," He said, looking at her.

She looked back at him and bit her lip. He wasn't that bad looking. Maybe love wasn't over rated after all.

Alex watched Rebekah and Stefan from a distance, wanting nothing more than to go over there and separate them. Salvatore didn't belong in that seat, he did. He lost that right and knew it was too late.

He turned around and headed down the street, lonely and broken hearted. He had done what he had to do, now all he had to do was live with it.
