Garrett smiled down at his little vixen and pulled her in his arms. Taking a deep breathe of her comforting scent, he relaxed. "But you should be glad I came just in time." He chuckled. Isabella smiled warmly and snuggled under Garrett's neck, ignoring the mating pull and the snarling man coming toward them. Her shield wrapped around them and Jasper went flying. No wasting a second later, Isabella took Garrett's hand and ran. They zipped towards her mansion. An earsplitting roar rang out and shook the forest. She smelled Peter before she saw him. He ran close by her and gave her a raised eyebrows. She waggled hers at him. Then Char join them.
"I see the Major is out again to play." Peter spoke, ducking a tree. The mansion was coming into view.
Isabella shrugged. "He tried to forcefully claim me for the past week even after I said no. Ass just doesn't know when to quit."
"He is your true mate though Lil' Bit." Peter pointed out as they raced through the mansion and out in the fields. Garrett looked over her, eyes shining with confusion.
"The Major is your true mate, Isa?"
She sighed as they slowed to a stop. She sat him down and sat by him. She truly didn't want to leave Garrett. He was the best thing that ever happened to her. She leaned back against her arms and stared up at the sky.
"Yes, he is." She looked at him with dark red eyes. "But that's the thing Garrett. I do not want him as my mate. When I said I did not want anything to do with the Cullen's I meant it. But I'm glad they did leave me the way they did. It got me you guys. My family. My children. I was born to be like this. It was my destiny. My fate." She leaned forward and scrubbed her face tiredly with a growl. "But it seems as fate wants him as my mate. I, for one, do not." Feeling vulnerable, she laid down with her head on his lap. The ground was shaking. The pull in her chest was lessening. Garrett ran his fingers through her hair. She loved it when he did it. Said it calmed her down.
Isabella watched as her children appeared from many different directions, sitting around her. They looked relaxed but she knew better. They were tense, ready to battle. It was a tactic she drilled in them. To make the enemy think you are not a threat, before striking. The doors slammed open and in came the Major in his fury glory. She did not remove her head from Garrett's lap and he did not cease running his fingers through her hair.
"Isabella!" The Major roared, seething with rage that his mate dismissed him and was in the arms of another man. Her head lulled lazily to stare at him. She did not blink. She did not smirk. She showed and felt nothing as she gazed at him.
"The answer is no." She hissed. Eyes turning white. "I refuse to be your mate. What will it take to get you to understand. I will not stand by a man who stayed with the family that abandoned me. I will not be the mate to a man who thinks he should try to get me to submit to him as the way he should see fit." She roared standing up. Garret back up and left her to say her business. "Look at the people around you! Look at them! These are mychildren, myfamily. I made this whole thing for them for peace! They are the family I could ask for. I became the way I am not to rule them but to guide them. They could leave at any time they want but they won't! No matter what I say, they love it here. I became this way to protect them. They are my life! Now your family, the Cullens," She spat, taking a step forward. "are trying to ruin that for me. Isabella Marie Swan died the day Edward Cullen left her in the forest! She died the day, you and your family up and left without so much as a 'Fuck you'! She died when she was turned by her lovely sister." She took more steps forward. Her children split down the middle giving her an aisle to walk through. "She completely died after her change when she decided to become someone whom would take of her family! Someone would take people in and help them. To teach others, to protect others, to loveothers. I am a mother, a sister, a protector, a vampire, and a giver. And it will never change!" She made it out of the sea of vampires and stood 20 yards away. "I will not change for the likes of you. I will continue my life as the way it is. And I will not have anyone, not even your coven, get in my way." She hissed eerily at him.
Everyone was on a stand still. She kept her white eyes on the Major as he stood there in shock. Peter came forwards and kneeled by Isabella's feet.
"Isa, May I go talk to Major?"
Isabella blinked and broke her eye contact with her mate. Crouching down, she ruffled his hair and pulled it out of his eyes. Her red eyes were visible again. "Of course you can. He is your brother anyway," She muttered. "I can't stop you."
"Thanks." She smiled warmly at Peter and gave him a kiss on the forehead. A growl rumbled and she turned her head to Jasper, narrowing her eyes.
"I only let him go to you because you both including Charlotte has had a past connection, but if you hurt a single hair on him. I will rip you apart, slowly, limb from limb. And I will start with your fingers." She bared her fangs at him.
Peter took that opportunity to zip to his sire and nodded to the forest. Jasper stared at him before looking back at Isabella, who turned her back on him and was listening to some of the female vampires. Her laughter were full of soft bells.
"Major?" Jasper shook out of his stupor and followed after Peter. The ran for miles into the forest and stopped by a waterfall. Jasper took no heed to Isabella's warning and swung at Peter. Peter felt the air shift and bent backwards, the Major's fist swung 3 inches above his face. He lifted on leg and kicked Jasper away from him. Then he back flipped and scrambled up a tree sitting on the highest branch that was still visible to those who stood under the tree.
"I'm only here with you to talk Major. The more you try to hit me, the more Lil' Bit would hate you if she found out." Jasper was growling at him but hearing that his mate would hate him if he harmed Peter had him slump down on ground with his fave buried in his hands.
"Pete, what should I do?"
Peter blinked and jumped down from the tree, keeping his distance.
"I mean, how did all this happen? With Isabella? The vampires, humans, werewolves? Why are being you all being so friendly with Maria, The Most Feared Warlord in the South? I have all these questions to ask."
Peter took and breath, running his fingers through his hair as he leaned back against the tree, one foot planted on it. "To be honest Major, you really don't deserve the answers." He raised his hand and held up the 'stop' sign at him. "No Major, you will let me finish and you are going to sit there and listen." He ducked and jumped on the branch when Jasper ran at him, snarling.
"I demand your respect and answers, Captain!"
Peter shook his head, crossing his arms. A frown etched across his fave as he cocked his head to the side. "No, you don't. You lost my respect when you all abandoned Lil' Bit. My respect goes for her. The little lady who brought peace. You may be my sire, but you lost the right to call us your children when you abandoned me and Char for the Cullens." Peter spat. "I tried for years to have you call or at least visit us but do we get as an answer? 'Alice wouldn't appreciate it and neither would Carlisle, Edward, or Esme.' Fuck Major, it was so painful for Char and me, it was hard for us notto be depressed about that our sire, brother abandoned us," Jasper flinched at Peter's emotional turmoil.
"80 years Jasper! So when my knower told me about Isa and what would happen, me and Char booked it and left Texas. We told her about you. She took us in with no problem and Char wouldn't leave her side for days. Enrique was already there with his army but they were playing around with humans. He told us that we can cut the connection of our sire and gain a new one. Char immediately took that opportunity. It's why you haven't felt your connection to us for the past five years, " Peter blinked lazily at Jasper. "Well for the past 80 years you were married to that little pixie. So she is my new sire" Peter opened up his shirt and showed Jasper the tattoo he gained. It was in black ink mixed with Isa's venom. Only titanium needles could pierce their skin. Everyone in Washington had one. Children from ages of the time they were born to when they were 16 only get a crest of her initials. A necklace and bracelet for the girls and a wrist band or chain for the boys.
"She is the one I would die for." Peter finished jumping down from the tree. "In plain words, you've fucked up Major. And only you yourself can get you out of the hole you dug yourself in."
Peter turned to leave but a hand on his shoulder stopped him. He looked into Jasper's dark eyes and saw how lost he looked. "Pete, I...I don't know what to do. How to fix this. I know I've fucked up and I need your help to fix this and help me gain my mate's trust." His eyes pleaded Peter. Peter stared at him for a few minutes before taking a deep breath, rubbing his hair.
"I will help you. Just don't fuck it up or you'll lose her."
"What about you and Char, Pete?" Jasper asked with venom teared eyes. "Have I already messed up so badly that I can't gain your trust again?"
Peter shook his head and pushed Jasper's hand off his shoulder. "Major, you haven't messed it up to that point. But it would be hard to forgive you. Though I can't say the same for my sugar. I'll help you tomorrow. Right now I want to go back to my family."
Peter didn't flinch when Jasper let sadness flow. He watched his former sire nod. Giving him a pat on his back, Peter nodded at him before taking off into the woods towards his home.
Jasper mulled over the information Peter gave him. But the one thought that came forth in his mind is that he'll get help on how to get his mate to trust him and to be by his side for the rest of eternity. He had things to sort out before doing so. And he knew he had to start from scratch.
Isabella was drying her hair in a towel when a call rang from the phone at her desk. Blurring towards it, she picked it up and put the phone between her should and chin while she continued to rub her hair.
"Hello?" Isabella answered. It's been three days since Jasper has bothered her and for that she was happy. Peter hasn't told her about their conversation but she trusted him, even if he did do things behind her back that was usually helped her in the long run.
"Bella?" She heard Rosalie's voice over the line. She pondered on whether on hanging up the phone but was against it.
"Isabella and how may I help you Mrs. Hale?" She asked monotonlessly.
"McCarty is my name now." Isabella raised her eyebrow on how nervous and fearful she sounded.
"Is there a problem. Mrs. McCarty?"
"The Volturi called. They are coming in 2 days. Carlisle called and told them you were alive and a vampire but refuse to leave Washington."
Isabella leaned on hip against her desk, she dropped the towel on the chair. "Thank you for the information Mrs. McCarty, it gives me and my people time to prepare. Have a good evening." She went to hang up but Rosalie's protest stopped her. "Yes?"
"Umm, would it be okay for me and Emmett to come and visit? There's some things we want to talk about."
Mulling it over, Isabella sighed and blew out a breath. "Yes, come by at 9:00am sharp and not a minute late."
"Thank you Isabella." Rosalie sounded relieved.
"Goodbye." She hung up and flitted over to her closet, putting her comfy clothes on. She went downstairs to the theater room. Bean bags, sleeping bags, blankets and pillows were spread out along the floor. Snacks for both Original Vampire and Werewolves were on one side and a Blood Machine next to it. She sat in the middle and Jamie with his mate sat on her left, leaning on her. Char was laying on her lap, Peter laying back on Char's stomach.
Vampires and werewolves sat in many different places. "Start the movies!" Isabella called. Soon everyone sat around and watched the screen.
