A/N - Some creative juices have returned for a short second chapter to Kitsune - The Hidden Hokage
Kishimoto still holds title to Naruto, so this is merely homage to his creation.
Chapter 2 - ANBU Red Fox
The acquisition by Konoha of a new elite Jonin went mostly unnoticed except by Minato and the ANBU.
Kitsune, aka ANBU Red Fox, quickly assimilated into life in Konoha's elite black ops organization. Though his true identity remained hidden behind the red fox mask his mastery of many jutsu made him well respected by his ANBU peers. The 3rd Hokage had suggested a short break in and introduction period before Kitsune would be tasked with self-regulation of his missions. All the Hokage required was to be kept up to date on any information that would benefit Konoha's war stance or if there was a direct threat from Madara himself. Though Kitsune agreed, he also had an agenda of his own, establishing peace through as little bloodshed as possible with the other Hidden Villages was important, but also contacting the other Jinchuriki who would become objects of Madara's future plans.
Minato had expected Kitsune might stay in his home, but Kitsune decided for his own sanity and his parents privacy that he find his own apartment. The Hokage had setup Kitsune with a private stipend as well as the standard mission pay scale when village missions were completed. So only two days after arriving it was Minato who was knocking on Kitsune's door inviting him to have a meal at Ichiraku's Ramen Shop, a newly opened food stand in Konoha.
"Hey, this ramen is real good!" Kitsune remarked with false astonishment at tasting the meal for the 'first' time.
"Yes, Teuchi is quite a good cook. I hate to say it but it almost rivals Kushina's homemade ramen!" Minato failed to see the look that quickly crossed Kitsune's face.
"So what are you waiting on Minato, she's a beautiful woman who can cook!" Kitsune laughed outwardly, but inwardly was saddened that he never got to find out how good a cook his mother had been.
"To tell you the truth it is the war. We are like many other couples, afraid of commitment until peace comes and then we will look to the future in earnest." Minato said truthfully.
"Don't wait too long Minato, Konoha needs a strong new generation whether this war ends soon or not." Kitsune eyed Minato briefly before starting on his second bowl of ramen that had just arrived.
