It has been 3 days since Darren has been released, he was within the treehouse packing somethings into a bag. Leaving behind the clothing he has been using and just filling the bag with valuables. Gold, jewels, rubies, the occasional enchanted sword and chaotic weapon. Closing the suitcase he walked towards the door taking one last look at the place he has been living in for a while, double checking that he didn't leave anything behind. Especially the Yin/Yang mask along with the medallion he has been using from time to time. He looked around to find he was missing something. He checked the living room till he found it, the leopard cub that was hiding under the couch. Darren reached for it to grunt in pain. Slowly he pulled the cub out who was biting his hand, Darren ripped the cub off him placing it on his shoulder. Letting out a sigh he placed a letter on the table going for the door.
*Ring, Ring, Ring, Ring, Ring.* The phone continued to ring again and again. Darren let out a groan going for it. "Hello, Darren speaking if you are in need of help, I don't care."
"Darren, it's me." Darren heard it was Finn on the other line.
"Oh, hey. Well nice talking to you gotta g-"
"Wait, can you do me a favor." Finn asked, Darren remained silent slowly placing the phone down while Finn continued to talk. "Darren, come on it's me your brother." Finn's voice told the phone floating over the receiver slightly shaking. Darren growled under his breath.
"What." Darren asked through the phone.
"FINN, FINN, Finn if you don't respond to my yelling in five seconds I'm leaving, Five, four, three-"
"Psst, Darren." A hushed voice whispered Darren turned around to see Finn's head pooping out of the side of a tree. Darren moved towards him, he was riding the leopard in its adult form while slowly clapping.
"Way to go, you're a full blown nudist." Darren joked while Finn's face redden. "Let me guess, Flame Princess is back there also."
"What? No." Finn told laughing nervously.
"Fine then this object that's been tin foiled and is burning hot is of no importance so I'll just throw it down the river." Darren told walking away.
"No." A voice yelled.
"Really." Darren asked of Finn who had his head down.
"Could you pass us our clothes." FP asked sheepishly.
~5 minutes later~
"So, you just decided. 'Hey, let's get naked and run around the forest.' Or what was it that I had to bring you two clothes." Darren asked the two teenagers being scolded like children. Both of them rubbing their necks, their faces red, and looking at the ground. "Never mind." Darren about to leave.
"Could you give FP here a ride back." Finn asked waiting for Darren's respond.
"Get on." Darren told, both Finn and FP got on. The leopard began to sprint. The ride to the Fire Kingdom quite and awkward. Finn looked to the side of the leopard's side.
"Darren, what's with the suitcase on, Alexander?" Finn asked, the leopard stopped in it's tracks glaring at Finn.
"Don't call her that, when she died she was reborn as a girl, so call her Alejandra for a while or she'll bite you." Darren told.
"Sorry, but what's with the suitcase?" Finn asked again. Darren remained silent.
"I was going home." Darren told.
"But you were already at the house when I called, why'd you bring it." Finn asked slightly laughing slowly dying off when Darren kept quiet.
"Not that home, Finn." Darren told, Finn kept quiet looking at the suitcase slowly connecting the dots.
"Darren, stop the leopard." Finn told. Darren clicked his tongue the Leopard stopping in his tracks. Darren got off the leopard as well as Finn.
"What?" Darren asked quickly dodging Finn's fist. Darren stepped to the side watching while Finn fumed from his face going for another punch. In that state Finn was predictable and easy to dodge. Darren just continued to step out of the way before a hit could connect. FP got off the leopard looking towards the scene that was unfolding.
"You...were...going to leave...and not say anything." Finn growled stopping sometimes when throwing a punch.
"And say what, 'thanks for everything now I'm leaving forever.' Not much for a goodbye, Finn." Darren told continuing to dodge Finn barrage of attacks.
"What's, uh, happening." FP asked after Finn had tired himself out having sweat drip down his forehead.
"Bubblegum finished the Time Machine, I was going to leave today till Finn called." Darren explained. "Finn here figured it out."
"You weren't going to tell him?" FP asked shocked.
"I left a note on the table so -ugh- bastard." Darren breathed out getting on his knees from Finn hitting a little lower then what he was aiming.
"Well you should have-ahh." Finn let out falling down from having the leopard bouncing on him.
"Karma works fast." Darren told shakily getting up. While FP went towards Finn's side.
"Darren, I-" Finn stopped for feeling something against his skull.
"Flame Princess, you move I won't hesitate to shoot. Finn you make any movements whatsoever I will pull the trigger." Darren told, Finn slowly turned his head to see Darren holding a crossbow pistol(They exist look em up) at him. "Finn, this is going to happen and you knew this would have happened. Me, I gave up hope 10 weeks ago but Bubblegum finished it and I'm going home. So you can either be there when I leave or be 6 ft under when it happens, your choice."
"Fine." Finn told getting up, Darren slowly placed the crossbow pistol within the inside of his shirt concealing it. Clicking his tongue Alejandra lowered herself so everyone could get on. Once on she returned her regular pace to the Fire Kingdom. The rest of the ride was quiet, FP placing a comforting hand on Finn's shoulder the whole way.
"Hey, Flame Princess."
"Flame KING." She yelled back at Darren.
"You might want to see this." Darren told, FP looked over Finn's shoulder her eyes growing wide with shock. Her Kingdom was under attack. Lava Golems were demolishing anything in their path. Soldiers that were in charge of protecting and keeping peace to the citizens of her Kingdom were flipping over tables from merchants and destroying homes. FP got off the leopard running fast towards her Kingdom leaving a trail of fire behind her. Finn got off as well following her to the Kingdom. "Hmm, got rid of them faster then I thought. Alright let's go." Darren told towards the leopard to have it stay in the same spot slowly making it's way towards the Kingdom. "No, no, no, come on." Darren argued having the leopard drag him towards the Kingdom.
Finn raced towards the Kingdom letting his feet hitting the fiery ground with no problem to him whatsoever. His sword in hand Finn blocked a sword from a Fire Guard that was going to slash at a door to a house. "Stop it, you're suppose to be protecting this place what are you doing." Finn told pushing the soldier back. The soldier getting back to his feet with 2 more soldiers coming to the scene.
"These are orders from the new rulers of the Fire Kingdom." One soldier told.
"What, Flame Princess didn't-"
"That was the old ruler, the new rulers came yesterday coming to claim the throne they challenged the old ruler when she wasn't here there was 24 hours till she was able to claim the challenge. When the time ran out, the challengers were crowned new rulers of this land." Another soldier told.
"No." Finn whispered, it was cause of him she was away. Cause of his injuries from Yang and having her by his side during the fight she was gone for so long. And the night thing he didn't want to talk about.
"Sorry, these are just orders." A soldier told snapping Finn back to reality to see the soldier raise his sword. The soldier brought down his sword to be blasted off his feet by a giant fireball.
"Hands off my man, Finn, you okay." FP asked while looking around for any attackers.
"Yeah, I'm fine, Fp you have to know you've been-"
"Overthrown, yeah I know." FP told preparing to attack anyone that would come towards them. "I squeezed the info from a soldier."
"So what now, and who overthrew you?" Finn asked sword in hand.
"What I was suppose to be doing, protect this Kingdom. Then I'll find out who would dare to this. Can you fight." FP asked.
"Yeah at long as you're by my side." Finn told with a smile. "Wait, where's Darren?"
"I don't know, but we got bigger problems." FP told seeing 8 Fire Golems with a few soldiers coming their way.
Darren was on top of the leopard hanging on trying not to fall off and burn to his death. The leopard's fur protecting him for now. The leopard knocking a few soldiers off their feet, slashing through their armor and weapons, making them unable to fight and flee. "There, we're done, can I-ugh" Darren grunted being knocked off the leopard into the ground. Beginning to panic he stood up looking at his body to see his body completely black. "You gotta be kidding."
"Die." A voice yelled feeling a stinging pain on his back. Turning to the side to see a long sword sticking into his back. Darren turned to see a soldier having a broken sword in hand.
"Wait, weren't you the huma-"
"DIE!" Darren yelled penetrating his claws into the soldiers eyes feeling the hot liquid go down his fingers giving a quick jerk pulling the mans face off breaking the skull of the soldier killing him. Inhaling deeply his body shook a little. "I needed that." Looking around to see the leopard being surrounded by some soldiers. "Hmm."
Finn dodged a flame attack followed by a swing from a battle axe. Finn was in combat with a buff soldier with fire capabilities and a battle ace in hand. Finn tried to get a single hit and get to his lady's side. Running towards the soldier having him be pushed back by the soldiers power flames began to rise from the soldiers body blocking Finn's view. From the flames the soldier punched Finn in the jaw making him stumble backwards. Rubbing his jaw he prepared his sword for another attack. The soldier stood in-front of Finn.
"Kick his ass big guy." A voice yelled both Finn and soldier turned to see Yang leaning against a wall eating what seemed to be an apple.
"YOU."
"What's up, missed me." Darren asked taking a bite of the apple.
"What are you doing here. Wait you did all of this didn't you." Finn yelled his sword's flames engulfing his body.
"No I'm here eating weird fruit and enjoying a show. Besides if I was the cause there would be bodies falling from the sky." At cue fire soldiers began to drop from the sky falling on buildings and nearby merchant stands. "What the?"
~Near FP~
Fp was punching and grabbing as many soldiers as she could throwing them away from her and out of her hair.
~Back with them~
Finn's sword was raised ready to attack Yang. "Wait, wait, also there would be blood raining down on us." A small drop of red liquid hit Yang's face looking up to see a bunch of liquid falling down.
"This is blood?" The soldier told looking around.
~With FP~
Fp tossed the lava golem out of the way grabbing another golem by the arm she ripped its arm off. The golem screaming in pain while its blood poured out.
~With them~
"Wait I want to try something. Naked women everywhere." He yelled only to have a gust of wind come in. "Eh, it was worth a try." Darren told, Finn growled in anger. "Oh, someone's getting angry. I would advice to stay back, you lost an arm last time and you'll loose both arms if you- get it off, get off, why do you always go for the head." Darren yelled punching the leopard biting down on his head. Digging his nails to the leopards skin pulling it off him throwing the leopard into a random store through the window to have the leopard breath fire to him blocking his vision to bounce on him once more.
Finn and the soldier stood there watching the whole thing. The soldier's attention was brought back to Finn when he felt his armor being pulled at. Looking forward to see Finn grabbing his neck and a fist hitting his face. Punching the soldier out-cold.
"Finn, a little help here." FP yelled she was fighting the lava golems in her enlarged form one wrapping its hands around her making her unable to shoot fire or escape. FP lowering her head to bring it backwards smashing the back of her head against the golems face freeing her to deliver a punch to the gut. Maneuvering around to punch another golem grabbing it throwing it far away. Too busy to see one golem about to smash a giant bolder over her. The golem holding the bolder over her head before smashing it down on her the golem was kicked in the face by Finn quickly jumping away from it before the bolder hit its head knocking the golem out. "Thanks." FP told returning to her usual size.
"No problem. How many are left." Finn asked.
"We may have our hands full here." FP told, Finn looking over her shoulder to see the entire Flame Kingdom marching their way as far as the eye could see soldiers marched down the streets side by side some wielding weapons some going bare handed with fire in their hands. Hundreds of Lava & Lava Golems beginning to encircle them not giving them a chance to escape.
Darren was inside an abandoned and slowly collapsing building trying to settle the leopard. Getting onto its back he peeled away the mask. "Hey, hey, it's me." Darren yelled at it calming it down once seeing his face. Letting out a sigh of relief he turned his attention towards the battle outside. Finn and FP punching soldiers and lava golems away while the army slowly closed the space around them. "Get them." Darren told. The leopard hearing the command ran towards the two, pushing and clawing its way past the soldiers. Once in front of them Darren grabbed Finn by the neck pulling him onto the leopard. The leopard grabbed FP by the collar with his teeth. Spreading its wings the leopard flew the three out of range into the forest.
The three stood there looking back towards the Kingdom they just retreated. "WHY DID YOU FLY US OUT OF THERE, WE HAD THEM." FP yelled her flames consuming the vegetation around her.
"You were surrounded and we need a plan. Finn come here." Darren told, Finn obeyed getting close to Darren to have Darren check his backpack to get out a phone.
"What are you doing." FP questioned.
"Calling Bubblegum, going to ask her for some-AAHHHH, you BITHC...FUCK." Darren yelled having his hand burned by FP. Scrambling to reach his pocket he pulled out the cyclops tears he carried splashing the tears on his hand the pain dimming down and the color of his hand returning to normal.
"You aren't calling no one. This is my kingdom and I ain't having no one coming to save it but me." She told her hand still lite ready to attack just in case.
"Fine, then what do you suggest." Darren questioned while he still felt the burns.
"I got something." Finn talked.
"You have got to be kidding, this is it." Darren told pointing to Jake who Finn called to help them.
"He's the only I could call that wasn't from a Kingdom for help." Finn negotiated. "Now, Jake, will you help us."
"Of course Finn, homies help homies." Jake told.
"Good, now I got a plan. Everyone gather around." Finn told while everyone did as they were told. "Now this is how were going in."
~One attack later~
Jake ran as fat as he could avoiding attacks of fireballs and flying weapons coming his way trying to run faster cause Flame Shield wearing off. Till he finally made it outside the Fire Kingdom looking back to see the soldiers stay within the border of the Kingdom. "Finn, Flame Princess." He whispered to himself.
"So how'd it go." Darren asked resting beside a tree.
"YOU." Jake yelled stretching his way towards him grabbing his shirt bringing his face to his. "WHERE WERE YOU, you were suppose to have our backs."
"Apparently you have bad eyesight considering I was here the whole time. I never left to the Kingdom." Darren told.
"Why?" Jake yelled. "Because of you Finn and FP were captured." Jake told waiting for a response the response was laughter maniacal laughter.
"Why? Why? Cause I didn't want to." Darren told getting Jake's hands off of him.
"What! It's like you don't...you don't care about Finn do you, you never did." Jake told pointing his finger to Darren's laughing face to have his smile spread even further.
"Congratulations it took you long enough." Darren said clamping slowly. "It took you, how long have I been here...hhmmm 8 fucking months. It appears there is a brain in there too bad it takes a long time to process anything. Yes, I don't care what happens to Finn, hell I don't care if THIS world burns to hell. All I care is freedom. And Bubblegum already has that for me, she finished the Time Machine. Now that everything is out of my way, I'll see you later, dog." Darren told picking up the leopard that was in a cub form beginning to walk away.
"You don't help, I'll go and destroy that machine." Jake yelled making Darren stop in his tracks. "I'll go to the Kingdom and destroy it. I can simply call Princess Bubblegum and tell her everything."
"You mongrel mutt." Darren growled.
"Your choice, help me and get home. Or walk and be stuck here." Jake told.
"Backed up against a wall and by an idiot dog no less. Fine, I'll help." Darren told.
"Good, now help me find Flambo, we need him to use Flame Shield on us again." Jake told looking over a bush.
"No need, all you need is this." Darren told grabbing the leopard placing it on Jake's head. "While the cat is touching you you're alright kinda like Finn's sword. The fire won't hurt you." Darren told pushing him towards the Kingdom.
"Okay, then what about you, you're coming too remember." Jake told his feet already touching the fiery ground.
"Got it covered, turn around." Darren told.
"This better not be some sort of trick." Jake told his eyes widening seeing Darren's skin turn black as well as his clothes. His body slowly morphing and changing till it stopped till he was Yang. "You-you lied to us this long." Jake yelled pointing at Darren, the cub hissing at him as well.
"Now, now, that isn't entirely true. How could I lie to any of you if I haven't even told you the truth to begin with." Daren told in Yang's voice.
"When this is over I'm turning you into Princess Bubblegum." Jake told
"Go ahead, but heed this in mind the moment you rat me out. I'll make sure hundred's of lives go down before me, including Finn's. You're in on this now dog." Darren told grabbing Jake by the neck lifting him up. "I die, so does Finn, got it, so choose, put a maniac behind bars or save your brother."
"I hate you." Jake told swatting Darren's hands away.
"The feeling is mutual."
