Following me into my bedroom, Bruce grabbed me and swung me into his arms and kissed me as though we had been separated for years. It was a long, steamy kiss that had my knees buckling and fingers tangling in his hair before he finally pulled back.

Snarling a bit in frustration, I yanked him back down for another throat-swabbing kiss.

Groaning, he started to slide my pants off as we moved slowly towards the bed. I was almost clear of both pant legs when I stumbled, falling backwards onto the bench at the end of my bed, breaking our kiss.

Kicking myself free from my pants, I watched eagerly as Bruce swiftly removed his boxers and erased any worries I'd had about my mother's untimely entrance dampening his libido.

Scooting further onto the bed, I reached for Bruce as he joined me but a finger on my lips stilled me.

"Oh no, we're going to take our time about this. No more rude interruptions." His voice dipped a register and caused my heart to begin hammering in my chest.

"Lie back." Suddenly dry mouthed and as nervous as a kid on Christmas morning who knows what she's gotten for Christmas but still wondering if she won't, I did as he asked.

"Close your eyes." Mine narrowed on his for a fraction of a second before closing and I swallowed hard.

Feather light kisses and touches were everywhere. My arms, my neck, my breasts, my stomach, my thighs… everywhere but the one place that was now throbbing for him to touch.

My breathing became ragged and jerky as my body twitched involuntarily wherever Bruce grazed me with his body.

"Bruce, please…" I whimpered and he finally covered my body with his. The shock of our flesh connecting so solidly everywhere had my eyes flying open to look at the man who had brought me to the brink already.

The cocky, self-satisfied smile he wore would have been amusing if I was not aroused to the point of desperation. Raising a knee up, I planted an elbow and pushed him down as I rolled on top of him.

"My turn. Cocky bastard…" I muttered the last bit but not quietly enough as Bruce let out a low chuckle.

"Oh I think you enjoyed every minute of it." I rolled my eyes and moved, gliding up and sliding down onto his rock hard shaft. "Oh, mmm."

I smiled at the pleasure in his voice. "Now this is more what I had in mind, unless you have any objections?"

A grunt which I assumed to be a no, came from the man beneath me. I began to move slowly, up and down, flushing with pleasure at the gripping hands at my hips.

Grinding my hips down into his, Bruce groaned and growled at me through his teeth using the voice.

"Woman, if you do that again, I'm going to explode."

Oh the shiver that ran down my spine had me clenching around him. Never have I felt something so delicious from just a few words.

I began to move faster and faster, feeling my own climax building to the breaking point. I leaned back and grasped my calves for support as I rode him harder and harder until I felt the world shift and the floor drop as my climax shattered around him. "Bruce!"

"Oh, oh God! Gia!" I felt him thrust up into me hard as he came.

I melted against him as I slowly made my fingers unlock from where they'd gripped my legs.

"Mmm, I think that was well worth the wait, don't you?" I asked as I rested my head on his shoulder.

His chest rumbled as he gave a short laugh. "Yes, I do."

Planting a kiss on his chest, I rolled off him to flip my bedside lamp off. Snuggling back into the crook of his arm, I sighed, content.

"Good night Bruce."

"Night Gia."

The next morning I awoke to find myself alone with my sheets and one rumpled looking pillow. Grabbing a pair of underwear and an overlarge Gotham City Library shirt and pulling them on, I went into the living area to see what had become of my lover.

He wasn't anywhere to be found in the rest of the apartment and my heart sank. What if he had second thoughts? What if he was running? If the Bat pager had gone off in the middle of the night, he would have woken me like normal, right? Right?

Then my nose alerted me to the coffee pot brewing in the corner. It wasn't quite done yet, so he couldn't have left that long ago. I walked into the kitchen and heard faint music filter through the closed window.

The roof. Why hadn't I thought of that? I tried to make my climb as unhurried as possible as I made my way up my spiral staircase to my rooftop.

There he sprawled, looking so much like the indolent playboy he pretended to be, in one of my two Adirondack chairs that faced towards the city. The radio sat beside him playing quietly an old big band ballad.

The sun was just peeking over the tops of the building downtown as I made my way to sit in the chair next to him.

"I've never seen the sun rise from a rooftop and not been in the suit." The soft spoken words were not was I was expecting and I smiled.

"Is it weird? To not be in the suit?"

"A little but a good weird." Bruce turned and gave me a small smile. He reached out and held my hand in his, lacing his fingers with mine.

Placing a kiss on my hand, he lowered them and looked at me seriously. "We never talked about this before last night and well, I…" He skidded to a halt as I smiled at him, knowing what he was fumbling over.

"I'm on birth control Bruce. You don't need to worry. No little Wayne's will be running around here anytime soon." I laughed at the palpable relief on his face.

"Well, it's just- I mean, not that I don't, but- well I mean I do, eventually… someday but just not… right now." I just shook my head and smiled at him as he tripped over his words trying to figure out what was the right thing to say. Honestly, sometimes it astounded me that someone so intelligent and articulate could be at a loss for words.

"It's just -I was so wrapped up in you last night I didn't even think about protection of any sort. I felt like I'd lost my mind. I always think and plan for every contingency that the fact that I hadn't planned ahead with you just threw me for a loop." He ran a hand through his hair as he looked back out at the sun rising ever higher.

"I find it amusing and rather satisfying that I can distract you so."

Bruce gave a chuckle. "You're the first one in a very long time to do so. The last person who could drive me to distraction in such a way ended up dead. I'd rather that not happen with you, so can you promise me that you'll do whatever I ask of you to keep you safe?" He wasn't looking at me as he asked this but gazing at him, I thought I detected a sheen of tears near the surface.

"Bruce, I'm not Rachel. I am my own person. Besides, she was in a very public position and not exactly a wall flower in her everyday life. I work at Wayne Enterprises and in a very quiet department. Barring last night excursion to Hypno, I'm not exactly a social butterfly either." I gently place a hand on Bruce's face and turned him to look at me.

"I can't promise that I'll do whatever you say because Lord knows, that'll come back to bite me in the ass later. However, I will promise to do whatever is within reason to stay safe and not give any of Gotham's more eccentric criminals Batman bait."

"You – how did you know I was speaking of Rachel?" His voice was carefully controlled.

I laughed. "This proves my point that I've been invisible for my entire life, dear. I went to high school and college with the two of you. You never noticed me, did you?"

He glowered at me. "You couldn't have. I would remember you, Gia."

"You'd remember me now that you know me but, back then… I was invisible to all but Josh. Even now, I'm still fairly invisible to most people." I laughed again, softer now. "Only the people who matter see me now."

A faint beeping sound floated up from the confines of my apartment.

I sighed. "Duty calls my dear."

As we made our way back down into my living room, I noticed it wasn't the Bat Pager but Bruce's work pager that was going off.

It was Saturday so it was highly unusual for him to receive a work page.

"Lucius, what's wrong?" Bruce had his cell phone pressed to his ear and a look of concern on his face. "What? What did security say? Okay, okay. We'll be there in half an hour."

Bruce hung up the phone and looked over at me where I stood.

"Someone's broken into R&D."

A/N: No, I'm not dead. Yes, I'm still writing. Having 2 kids and health issues kind of puts a damper on writing for awhile. But I'm back and I haven't forgotten about this story!
