AN - I said it would be posted soon and it's over a month later. Sorry, my other story had a monster of a chapter and there is not enough hours in the day :)

Anyway, enjoy part 2

I Don't Care

My mom is dead... Caroline sobbed against Elena's shoulder, her heart tearing open in her chest. The pain was too much, it threatened to rip her apart and leave her bleeding.

Elena hugged Caroline tight, "I won't let you do this."

Caroline closed her eyes and took a shuddering breath, her hand was at the back of Elena's neck and with a flick of her wrist she broke her neck.

Caroline gazed down at Elena's prone body on the floor, rapidly blinking away the last of her tears, "That's not your choice to make."

My mom is dead, and I don't care.

Caroline walked down the streets of Mystic Falls feeling light and free, the suffocating cloud of grief and despair was pushed back to the very back of her mind. She eyed the humans she passed with curiosity, what kind of vampire should I be? Am I a Stefan? Or a Damon? She licked her lips as she felt the hunger for blood like never before. She stood in front of a bar and grinned, let's find out shall we.

Caroline walked in and was immediately assaulted by the scent and feel of a roomful of warm pulsating bodies, their blood calling out to her. Her eyes held excitement as she wondered who to try. The lonely girl in the corner of the room? The Queen Bee in the center of the dance floor? The arrogant jock so confident in his powers of seduction? The possibilities were endless. She ignored them all for now and headed toward the bar.

The bartender eyed her morose choice of clothing for a bar with a raised eyebrow, "What can I get ya?"

"Tequila. Leave the bottle." Caroline answered, her eyes straying to the vein on his neck, it would be so easy to take a bite.

The bartender frowned, "It can't be that bad, beautiful. How about I just top your glass up?"

Annoyed. That was an emotion that Caroline was feeling, she cocked her head to the side, her emotions weren't trying to come back already, we're they? She eyed the bartender with a calculating look in her eyes, she crooked her finger in a 'come here' gesture.

The bartender leaned over the bar, his breath hitching as he got a close up of the girl's big and beautiful eyes, however a shiver ran up his spine at the coldness in her stare. His instincts telling him to run.

"How about I decide what I drink and you," Caroline's pupils dilated as she compelled, "shut up and don't scream." She nuzzled his neck and let her veins ripple. Letting the hunger take over her she bit him and groaned in pleasure as his hot blood ran down her throat. She gripped the back of his neck and drank deep.

"Wow!" A male voice laughed awkwardly as he saw what looked like Caroline kissing the bartenders neck.

Caroline licked her lips as she pulled back. That felt so good, and the voice that usually told her to stop never piped up. Was that a onetime occurrence or was it her new normal? She caught the bartenders eyes and compelled, "Forget that you ever saw me. You hurt your neck on a cocktail stick." She released him and turned to face the man. She laughed, "Liam? God! I completely forgot you existed."

Liam faltered under Caroline's mocking stare, "Caroline Forbes. The perfect girl according to Elena and her friend Stefan." He smirked, "You don't seem like it today."

"Don't I?" Caroline rest her chin on her hand, "Well I have been standing all day today, in these heels, at my mom's funeral."

Liam eyes shone with concern, "It was your mom's funeral today? I'm so..."

"God your boring." Caroline rolled her eyes, "No wonder Elena didn't pick you."

Liam stared in shocked confusion, "Elena? What are you..."

"Come with me." Caroline grabbed Liam's hand and dragged him outside.

"What are you doing?" Liam struggled against Caroline's hold, embarrassed that he couldn't break it.

Caroline pushed Liam against the wall, "I'm hungry." She grabbed hold of his hair and pulled him toward her, making out with him. She bit his lip, lapping at the small amount of blood. She nipped her way to his neck and bit down harshly, moaning as his blood rushed down her throat, her hand clutching him as close as possible. She kept drinking and drinking, expecting that voice in her head but it never came, she could literally keep going until he's dead.

Liam stumbled, his eyes were closed in pain, feeling lightheaded as his body weakened, "I think I'm gonna pass out."

Caroline pulled away, holding Liam by his neck like a puppy. She narrowed her eyes at the glazed look in his eyes, "I'm still hungry." She tilted her head to the side, "I could keep going until I kill you. Then I would be left with your body. I could put you in a dumpster but people are always finding bodies in dumpsters." She frowned as another thought occurred to her, "I could bury you in the woods however Elena, Stefan and the rest of those idiots would realize your missing and then they would come after me and I will not let them torture me to get my humanity back." She bit her wrist and offered it to Liam whom began drinking her blood, "It's your lucky day, Liam. You just got complicated."

Liam stared in fear at Caroline, "What are you?"

"A vampire. Duh!" Caroline rolled her eyes, "How dumb are you? Whatever. I don't care." She grabbed Liam's chin and compelled, "Forget I bit you and that I'm a vampire. We made out, and then I left." With him taken care of she left the bar.

I think it's time for a change.

Caroline had just been on a shopping spree for new everything. It was time to start fresh. New clothes, new sheets, new attitude. She opened the door to her dorm and was met with the concerned faces of Elena and Bonnie.

"Care, you're here." Elena stared at Caroline in disbelief. She couldn't believe that she strolled in without a care in the world.

"And you're perceptive." Caroline stated as she walked past them straight to her bed, not even giving Bonnie a glance.

"What are you doing?" Elena asked confused as Caroline pulled out the things she bought.

"I've been shopping. It's time to start over." Caroline takes the items out her bag as she described them, "New sheets. New clothes. I even got us a new hairdryer!" She spun around with the box in her hand and finally noticed Bonnie, "Bonnie. I thought you were trapped in 1994."

"I got out." Bonnie smiled hopefully.

"Huh." Caroline shrugged and went back to pulling out her shopping.

It hurt but Bonnie was expecting it. They may be best friends but she knew she wasn't enough of an emotional trigger to bring Caroline back.

Elena tried next, "We were worried about you."

"Worried I might kill someone, you mean." Caroline sat on the end of her bed and revealed, "Funny story. I ran into Liam last night." She turned to Bonnie and explained, "He was this cute boy Elena dated for like five minutes after she compelled away her memories of Damon." She grinned, "Then Damon came back, Elena got over Liam like that," she snapped her fingers, "and then she compelled him to forget that they ever dated. Ironic, huh?"

"What did you do to Liam?" Elena almost growled, fear and anger warring within her.

"I ate him." Caroline grinned, "And he was delicious."

Bonnie was horrified, "You killed Elena's ex?"

Caroline scoffed, "Just let me tell my story." She turned to Elena, "Remind me why we're glad she's back again."

"Tell me that you didn't kill him." Elena glared at Caroline, hoping that she didn't kill Liam.

"I wanted to. Cute boys just kinda taste better." Caroline crinkled her nose and giggled, ignoring the disgusted looks on Bonnie and Elena's faces, "Anyway, as I was feeding the voice in my head that tells me when to stop never piped up, and I realized that I could keep drinking until he was dead."

"Did you?" Elena hesitatingly asked.

"I was going to keep going but then I thought about what I was going to do with his body." Caroline replied, taking a sip from the champagne bottle, "I could have thrown him in a dumpster but everybody gets found in dumpsters. Then I thought about burying him in the woods but I realized that you would notice he's missing and then you or Stefan would lock me up and torture me until my humanity came back." Caroline shrugged, a smile on her lips, "I didn't want that so I compelled Liam to forget."

"You didn't kill him because it would be inconvenient?" Elena asked in disbelief.

Caroline raised her eyebrows, "I turned off my humanity, Elena. I didn't turn into an idiot. I didn't want to give you a reason to ruin my life."

"It's so weird." Bonnie commentated unnerved, "It's like she's Caroline, but she's not."

"Oh, Bonnie, how we've all missed your commentary." Caroline replied patronisingly, rolling her eyes, "Anyway, in return for my good behavior I want a year. One whole year where I don't have to feel the pain of my mom's death." She smiled wide, the sparkle missing from her eyes.

"So all you want is for us to leave you alone and you won't kill anyone?" Elena asked.

"Correct." Caroline nodded, smile still on her lips, "If none of you try and get my emotions back then I will refrain from killing. However, you do anything, and I mean anything to get my humanity back." Her face grew serious, her eyes cold and calculating, "I'll become your worst nightmare."

Bonnie and Elena shared a concerned look.

Caroline smiled brightly again, "Okay. Good talk." She walked past them, "I'm off. I've got a rave to get ready for." And flounced out the door.

Elena picked up her phone, "Stefan, I found her."

"Where?" Stefan asked, desperate to find Caroline so that she could switch it back on.

"She was just here at the dorms." Elena chewed on her lip before revealing, "She wants us to give her a year and she won't kill anyone. As long as none of us do anything to her in that time."

"And you agreed?" Stefan was incredulous.

"What else could I say? Who knows what she's capable of now." Elena shook her head, forgetting that Stefan couldn't actually see her, "She's not Care anymore, Stefan."

"Trust me, Elena, I know that but I'm not giving up on her until she's Caroline again." Stefan will not let Caroline do this to herself because the moment she turns it on she will feel everything she's been putting off all at once.

Elena blew out a breath, "So, what's your plan?"

Caroline was dancing against some random guy, her arms loosely around his neck as he ground his hips into hers. She smirked into his eyes before pulling his head down and aggressively kissing him, their teeth clashing together. Abruptly pulling back she sunk her teeth into his neck and drank deep, moaning as his blood ran down her throat.

"Done with you now." Caroline pushed him away from her, having already compelled him earlier to forget her, and moved on to the next cute boy. She pushed her body against his back, "Dance with me?"

The boy turned around. His grin widening as he saw Caroline. He placed his hands on her hips and pulled her as close to him as possible.

Caroline tilted her head back and laughed. She was free. Free to kiss, to eat, hell, to even fuck any guy she wanted without guilt, or remorse, or any bad feelings whatsoever. She simply doesn't care anymore.

Stefan stalked Caroline through the mass of bodies. He could see her in the middle, surrounded by boys, having the time of her life as she danced, and kissed, and fed off them. His jaw clenched.

"Okay, we've found her." Elena was at Stefan's side, watching Caroline enchant the boys around her, "Are you sure we should do this? She's not actually hurting anyone, maybe she can do this. Maybe we should give her, her year."

"And then what? Hope that she will actually turn it back on and start feeling everything she's been putting off." Stefan shook his head, his voice resolute, "No, we get her back."

Elena stared at Stefan knowingly, "I hope you know what you're doing, Stefan."

Stefan smiled slightly, "So do I."

Caroline stood at the bar waiting for the bartender to come over when she felt eyes on her. Turning her head she saw Stefan beside her, she smirked, "I wondered how long it would take for one of you to approach me."

Stefan smiled and put two shots on the bar, one for Caroline and one for him, "I'm just here to share a drink with a pretty girl."

Caroline smirked, "Liar." She took the shot and grinned at Stefan, "You're here to babysit me."

"I'm not here to babysit you, Caroline." Stefan smirked, taking his shot and drinking it.

"Yes you are." Caroline purred, knocking her own shot back, "You, Elena, Bonnie. You don't think that I can live a Humanity-less life without killing anyone."

"I know you can't." Stefan replied, never taking his eyes away from Caroline's hoping to just see the tiniest spark of emotion within their depths.

"Why's that?" Caroline narrowed her eyes at Stefan.

"Because every vampire snaps eventually." Stefan's voice was sure, "You will kill, because we all kill, and then every body you leave behind will leave a stain on your soul until you'll never want to turn it back on because it will hurt so bad."

Caroline rolled her eyes, "Just because your a ripper doesn't mean we all are." She got off her seat and went to leave when Stefan held her arm. She sighed, "Let me go, Stefan."

"No." Stefan pulled Caroline back to him and cradled her cheek, "Let it in. It'll hurt and you'll feel like you want to die, but I will be here. I will help you through this. Just give me a chance." He stroked his thumb against her cheek, staring deep into her eyes and hoping to see the smallest hint that Caroline was still in there, "Please. Come back."

Caroline breathed heavily, feelings she didn't want to feel threatening to return. Her best friend was begging her to come back and a part of her wanted to. She leaned into Stefan's hand for a moment before reality hit her. She can't let that pain back in, it would destroy her. She glared at him and took hold of his arm, "You shouldn't have done that." She pushed him away and stalked off.

Stefan watched helplessly as Caroline walked off. He was so close to bringing her back, another little push and it would have worked.

"He failed." Bonnie stated from their position in the mass of bodies, stealthily watching Stefan try, and fail, at getting Caroline back.

"It's a good thing then that I already called plan b after talking to Stefan, isn't it?" Elena replied, scanning the crowd for their 'plan b'.

Bonnie noticed Caroline dragging a guy toward Stefan. She nudged Elena, "Uh oh. That looks like trouble. I hope 'plan b' shows his ass soon because I don't have a plan c."

"He will." Elena answered confidently. She watched Caroline approach Stefan with worry in her eyes. Just what was she up to?

Caroline dragged one of the guys she had fed from earlier over to Stefan at the bar.

Stefan watched with a furrowed brow, "Caroline, what are you doing?"

Caroline tilted the guys head to the side, pushed her body against his back, her mouth inches from his neck, her eyes locked on Stefan, "Teaching you a lesson." She sunk her fangs in and started ripping into his throat, blood pouring from his neck.

Stefan's eyes dilated, his mouth filled with saliva, and his breathing sped up. The smell and sight of the blood filled his senses, Caroline's moans of enjoyment enticed him further. He could feel his inner ripper trying to claw it's way to the surface. All he wanted to do was sink his teeth into the other side of his neck and drink him dry with Caroline.

Caroline released his neck for a moment to whisper seductively, "Come and join me, Stefan." Her lips curled into a smirk, "Let's be rippers together."

Stefan's breath caught, he took a step forward unconsciously, his eyes trained on the blood smeared lips of Caroline. He should resist her, he needed to resist her, and the temptation she presented. He swallowed.

Caroline's lips curled into a grin as Stefan grew closer. He wouldn't bother her to turn her humanity on if he himself was just as lost as her. She peaked her tongue out and licked up some of the blood escaping the man's neck.

Stefan shuddered at the sight.

Caroline lips froze on her smile as her head was suddenly jerked to the side. Her eyes became glassy and her body began falling backwards.

Straight into Klaus's arms. He caught Caroline's fall, one arm around her back and the other going under her legs to hold her bridal style. He smirked at the dumbfounded look on Stefan's face, "Hello, ripper."

Back in the boarding house everyone was seated - Stefan, Damon, Elena, Bonnie, Klaus, Elijah - while Caroline was safely locked up in one of the cells.

Damon chuckled as Elena and Bonnie finished their explanations. He took a sip of his drink and couldn't help commentating, "So you knew that baby bro would fail to bring her back so you called the big bad wolf as backup."

Stefan glared at Damon, his jaw locked in annoyance. He was on the edge after Caroline's little blood display before him and Damon's comments or Klaus's presence for that matter wasn't helping him to calm down.

"Very astute of you ladies." Elijah smiled at Elena and Bonnie, "My brother and I arrived just in time to stop Miss Forbes from making a mistake."

Elena smiled back, "You were very fast, Elijah. One moment I saw you enter and the next you'd broken Caroline's neck."

"I know how to read a situation, Elena." Elijah glanced at the tense form of Stefan. He could see that Caroline had been tempting him and she was succeeding, so he acted quick.

"I didn't even know you were there." Stefan muttered, "All I saw was Klaus catch her as she fell."

Klaus smirked into his drink at Stefan's reply, "You were rather, occupied, lusting after blood." Then he added under his breath for Stefan to hear, "And Caroline." He met Stefan's glare with a challenging look, "Weren't you, ripper?"

Stefan stared back defiantly, "And you've done your job. Caroline is safe in a cell where the people who love her will bring her back." He smirked sarcastically, "Don't let the door hit you on the way out."

Klaus chuckled menacingly, "Oh I'm not going anywhere." He stood up and smirked at Stefan, "Caroline will soon wake and I'll be the one to bring her back." Then he was gone.

Stefan growled.

Caroline groaned as she awoke. She rubbed the back of her neck, still feeling sore from where it was snapped. She looked around her and rolled her eyes as she saw that she was in a cell at the boarding house, "Seriously?"

The door opened and Klaus walked in, "Hello, Caroline." His heart ached at Caroline's dead eyes, the light having left them when her humanity did.

"Klaus." Caroline stared at Klaus without emotion. She tilted her head to the side, "Who invited you to the party? I can't imagine that it would have been Stefan."

"Ah, the ripper." Klaus smirked as he closed the door behind him, "Do you know that he has feelings for you?"

Caroline nodded, crossing her legs at the ankles, "I had feelings for him first, at least humanity me did."

Jealousy burned in Klaus's gut, hot white rage that Stefan would dare to feel anything for his girl.

Caroline smiled as she noticed the rage on Klaus's face, "Is that jealousy, Niklaus?" Her voice dropped to a purr, "Are you scared that he can make me come harder than you did?"

The vulgarity from Caroline's lips only served to make Klaus hot, pissed and throbbing. Just the thought of Stefan laying claim to her body made him want to rip off her clothes and fuck her so hard that the only name she could remember would be his. But he couldn't do that in her current state, he may be a monster but he wasn't going to take advantage of her, "Did you believe I'd ever feel threatened by the ripper? Hardly."

Caroline chuckled darkly, "I do have an ache in my core that is dying to be filled." She licked her lips seductively as she eyed the bulge in his pants, "Either you or Stefan can fulfill it." She ran her hand over her breasts, plucking her nipples through her top, "Or even both. Ah! The feel of both of you at the same time makes my blood sing." She giggled.

Klaus cursed as his dick grew larger in his pants, Caroline was a fucking temptress right now and she knew it. Bloody minx. He couldn't help but smirk at her as her own arousal soaked the air. Her body was singing it's sweet melody to him but he wouldn't take the offer, no matter how much he wanted to pound into her.

Caroline pouted, "You don't wanna play with me?"

"Not this version I don't." Klaus knew that the real Caroline was insecure and prone to jealousy. Could he bring her back by confessing his secret? He may lose his chance with her for a few decades but he had time, he would wait forever for her.

Caroline rolled her eyes, "Well it's the only version you're gonna get for the next year."

Klaus smirked, crossed his arms over his chest, and stared straight into Caroline's eyes, "I fucked Hayley."

Caroline didn't move an inch, but her jaw twitched a miniscule amount.

Klaus continued, "Then I found out she was pregnant with my baby."

Caroline remained stoic, but her hands clenched into fists and she chewed her cheek.

Klaus could see he was breaking through, "We have a daughter," a smile lit up his face without his consent, "Hope. She's the best thing I've ever done." He could see her chest moving rapidly, "Hayley and Hope live with me in my compound."

Caroline felt her heart rip open and her eyes were inexplicably filling with tears. The emotions coming back feeling like daggers in her heart, stealing her breath from her.

Now was time for the final push, Klaus allowed affection to enter his voice, "Then there is Cami. Blonde, beautiful, brave bartender. My friend and someone whom I trust."

Blonde, beautiful, brave. Those words echoed in Caroline's head. Blonde. Beautiful. Brave. A tear slipped down her cheek, Blonde and beautiful and brave and not ME. A sob escaped her and that was it, the damn had opened wide. Visions of the people she'd compelled and the people she fed from entered her head. Then her mom's face swam in front of her eyes, grief pulling at her, cries escaping her as unimaginable pain tore at her. She had forgot her mom, her mom, and it killed her.

Klaus watched Caroline fall apart with sympathy in his eyes. She had the biggest heart of anyone he'd ever known and he always knew losing her mom would kill her inside. He cautiously approached her, falling to his knees beside her and pulling her into his arms, "Let it out, sweetheart."

Caroline crumbled against Klaus, her teary face buried in his neck, her hands fisting in his jacket, crying uncontrollably, "It hurts SO bad, Klaus."

"I know." Klaus soothed as he stroked Caroline's hair. He did, he hated his mother but at the same time he loved her, an affliction he had never truly been able to rid himself of.

"How can I live without her!" Caroline sobbed, her heart shattering within her chest. Her mom was everything to her and now she had nothing and no one whom would always be in her corner.

Klaus pulled back and cradled Caroline's wet cheeks with his hands, "You are strong, and beautiful, and even now you are filled with light." He rest his forehead against hers, "It is only dimmed right now, Caroline."

Caroline laughed and cried at the same time, "Might take a while for that dimmer switch to be turned up."

"That's okay." Klaus smiled, his eyes gazing at Caroline with love as he always does, "I'm not going anywhere, Caroline."

Caroline swallowed, "Yes you are. You're going back to New Orleans and your new fam-" Her voice broke, "Family."

Klaus sighed, "I won't regret my daughter, not even for you, Caroline." He felt his heart clench at the shame in Caroline's eyes. He brushed his thumb against her cheek, "It happened and I can't take it back, and I won't, because I have something I've always wanted. Family. Someone whom will always love me and I will always love her."

"I'm sorry." Caroline whispered, her breath hitching at Klaus's tender caress. No matter how hard she tried and who she loved in the meantime she just couldn't shake Klaus. She was unsure if she even wanted to at this point.

"Don't be sorry, love." Klaus grinned as he revealed, "If it makes you feel any better Hayley is now married to a werewolf from the pack she originated from."

Caroline's lips twitched, "Seriously?"

Klaus's dimples grew bigger, "Seriously."

Caroline giggled. It was small, minute even, but it was a small glimmer of her and that was enough to convince Klaus that she would be alright.

Caroline smiled sadly, "It is still a lot of information to take in."

"I know." Klaus moved a stray piece of hair behind Caroline's ear, leaving his hand on her shoulder, "And I still meant what I said, Caroline. I will one day be your last love. Be it in a year, a decade, a century, or even beyond." He lowered his head and gazed into her big eyes, "I will always be waiting for the day that you show up at my door. I will always wait for you."

Caroline's breath caught, her eyes looked between his searching them, and she suddenly felt so much lighter at the truth them she found in his gaze. He truly would wait for her. She cradled his face, angled her head and softly placed her lips against his.

Klaus kissed Caroline back just as gently, his arm wrapping around her waist and his other cradling the back of her neck. He relished the taste and feel of her, knowing that this would be his last taste of her for a long time, but when she finally came to him he would never have to give her up again.

Caroline kissed Klaus with love, not the passion and forbidden air of last time, but the soft embrace of love. She was not ready for the all encompassing, forever, never parting from each other, kind of love that Klaus offered. Not now and maybe not anytime soon but eventually she would want to spend her eternity with him.

Klaus smiled at Caroline as they broke away from one another. He nuzzled his nose against her, wishing that their time was now but he knew that it wasn't, not yet but one day soon she will be his and his alone.

Caroline returned Klaus's smile, her true feelings reflected in her eyes but unable to pass her lips just yet, all she could say was, "Not yet."

"I know." Klaus stole another kiss from Caroline's sweet lips before placing his hand against her chest, "I know you are not ready and I will wait until you are but I must say one thing, get it off my chest until I can tell you again." He swallowed and then whispered shakily, "I love you, Caroline Forbes, always."

Caroline's eyes brightened, shining bright with joy, but still shadowed by sorrow. Those words marked the end for them, right now, but one day they would signal the beginning of a life filled with adventure, passion, and most importantly love.

One day they would never be parted again.

Klaus held Caroline in an embrace, soaking in the feel of her in his arms, committing it to memory until she was back where she belonged. He nuzzled her ear and whispered, "One day it will be you and I always."

Caroline swallowed the lump in her throat and whispered back, "One day."

Klaus brushed his mouth against Caroline's one last time before releasing her. He stood up and walked backwards to the door, clutching the handle he smiled down at Caroline for the last time in a long time, "Goodbye, Caroline."

"Goodbye, Klaus." A tear ran down Caroline's face as she watched Klaus walk away from her, unlike her other loves that had left her she had hope. Klaus confessed that he loved her and he would wait for her. Until SHE was ready to be with him, not when HE was ready for it.

Caroline loved him just a little bit more for that.

One day she would tell him.

In a year, a decade, or even a century. She would share the words that had been stuck in her throat for a long time.

I love you too.

THE END.
